BETTING EXPLAINED

Select your horse. Note their name and saddlecloth number

Choose your bet. ‘To win’ or ‘each-way’ are popular types of bet.

‘To win’ is for your horse to come first.

‘Each-way’ is for your horse to come first or to be placed. It’s two bets, so ‘£2 each-way’ = £4 total bet.

Decide the amount – or stake – you are comfortable to bet.

Place your bet. There are different places to bet on course; The Tote, racecourse bookmakers, betting shop or online. Each option offers a different experience.

Collect. Once ‘Weighed-in’ has been announced, present your betting slip and collect any winnings.

The Charlie Wilson Memorial Hurdle

August

The Race we are sponsoring in his honour at Warwick today reflects his love of National Hunt breeding. Seeing the development of NH bred horses from Maiden Hurdles to hopefully becoming staying chasers of the future.

Charlie was a newspaper Editor, and has been described as Racing’s best friend in the newspaper industry. He championed the coverage of racing in the Times and many other papers. He served as a member of the Jockey Club Licensing and disciplinary committees.

He bred many horses from the Delgany Stud, all of whom carry the Delgany prefix. His best love was for gutsy horses that could stay long trips - we hope to see one or two here today.

Charlie Wilson who died on 31st 2022 aged 87 was a passionate horseman, an Owner, Breeder and a member of The Jockey Club. Charlie Wilson, with Red Invader and wife Rachel Wilson

TAKE NO CHANCES was quick to dispel a mishap on her penultimate start when finishing runner-up back at Newbury 5 weeks ago, taking a while to pick up but ultimately just failing. Very much one to be interested in on that evidence, she looks to hold sound claims of going one place better Hyland returned to calmer waters and Exeter scorer Jupiter Allen head up the dangers, with Saint Davy another to consider
