Martin was a real character who enjoyed a good laugh, quite often at his expense. He had let’s say a dark sense of humour at times. Always said EXACTLY what he thought without thinking twice You knew where you stood with him.
On Friday 4th August last year, we had a box at Wolverhampton Races. For a laugh, we sponsored a race and called it the “Martin Perrins Memorial Handicap”. We wanted to see his face when he saw it in the race card. The announcer at Wolves said it was a first for him where the person who’s memorial it was named after was there to present the trophy. Martin loved it, the way we knew he would, with a few choice words added.
Little did we know, at that time, we would lose him a few months later. Hence the reason why today we have the “Martin Perrins Memorial PART 2” race.
I lost a very dear and close friend who was a massive part in me owning horses. RIP Martin Perrins. You Silly B******.

Record Time: 1min 0.49secs; Median Time: 1min 3.30secs Stewards Note:
MOULIN BOOJ: Following its run on 1/5/2024 it was reported that the horse would prefer a quicker surface. Probable S.P.’s: 3-1 Dickieburd (GB), 7-2 Princess Karine (GB), 11-2 Ventura Express (GB), 6-1 Milbanke (GB), 15-2 Late Arrival (IRE), 10-1 Moulin Booj (IRE), 14-1 Zarzyni (IRE)
It’s probably best not to judge PRINCESS KARINE too harshly on her latest effort at Ripon and she looked on very good terms with herself when scoring over this C&D previously The Bryan Smart-trained mare is taken to regain the winning thread, perhaps at the chief expense of Dickieburd, who should be in the mix. Milbanke is third choice.
Rebecca Saul Prior of FBS Chartered Accountants will present a memento to the winning owner in the Winner’s Enclosure after this race A cash prize of £50 will be presented to the stable employee in charge of the best turned out horse in this race
The winning horse will also receive a sack of carrots kindly donated by Poskitts Vegetable Farmers and Growers.
