Our meeting on Wednesday 11th May consisted of seven races.

Our first race, the newtonabbotracing.com Maiden Hurdle saw short-priced favourite Gaulois justify his market position when just prevailing over a fast finishing Jean Genie. The Paul Nicholls-trained six-year-old travelled strongly leading throughout and a good jump when at the last saw him seal the win when landing two lengths clear, before weakening approaching the line, with jockey Tom Buckley on board to secure Nicholls only success on the day. It was the market favourite in the second who filled the runner up spot when the 9/2 My Lady Grey who bolted up by thirteen lengths, to Joe Tizzard his only winner on the day. Market favourite Wetanwindy travelled much the strongest throughout the race but failed to make any impact when push came to shove. It was a similar story in the third race

with yet another easy winner this time a 4 different Buckley was on board, Kieren who dictated the pace on the well supported favourite Diligent returning at 13/8, Chapmanshype was the distant second but this was a step back in the right direction for a horse who was once thought to have a big future. Al Roc broke the streak of winning favourites when battling hard from the last to beat Oxwich Bay, who seemed to have the race at his mercy before a horrendous blunder at the last where
