WEDNESDAY 20 AUGUST 2025

WEDNESDAY 20 AUGUST 2025
It’s my absolute pleasure to welcome you to the Carlisle Youth Zone Race Day
Whether this is your first time joining us or you’ve been part of our journey before, today is all about celebrating our community, enjoying a fantastic day of racing, and raising vital funds to support young people in our city.
Carlisle was the first city in the UK to establish a Youth Zone, a purpose-built, world-class space designed entirely for young people. Since opening in 2011, over 16,000 young members have found friendship, fun, and opportunity within our walls
A whole generation. Today, we welcome around 1,200 visits every week, offering somewhere safe to go, trusted adults to talk to, and a place to explore passions and discover purpose.
Our vision is simple but powerful: for every young person to feel seen, valued, and heard. In a world where young people face complex challenges - from mental health pressures to concerns about safety, both online and in their communities - the need for spaces like CYZ has never been greater We’re here, six days and nights a week, 52 weeks a year, to make sure no child is left without support.
This year, we’ve launched our #TeenCYZ campaign - a four-year mission to welcome young people through our doors 100,000 times, keep admission at just 50p, and deliver targeted programmes for those who need us most. You can find out more and get involved at carlisleyouthzone.org/teencyz
Events like today make that vision possible. Through your generosity, we can continue to provide the opportunities, inspiration, and relationships that help young people thrive Every ticket bought, every auction bid, and every kind donation goes directly towards making a tangible difference - and for every £1 invested in CYZ, we deliver £17 in social value back into our community.
So, thank you. Thank you for spending your day with us, for believing in Carlisle’s young people for a generation already, and for helping us be there for the next. We’re proud to be part of a city where every child can grow up with confidence, resilience, and hope.
Enjoy the races, enjoy the company, and know that today, you’re part of something truly special.
Caroline Taylor-Beswick Chief Executive, Carlisle Youth Zone

PREDICTION:
The Great British Bonus (GBB) incentivises and rewards with breeding, buying and racing of British-bred fillies by paying out bonuses of up to £100,000 per filly And now with GBBPlus to further incentivise staying fillies and chasing mares, there are more reasons than ever to breed, buy and race British. Majority funded by the HBLB.
