WELCOME A very warm welcome to you all this evening and welcome to our Palmaris Racenight. Evening racing is one of the key features of our fixture list here at Hamilton Park, and this is always one of my favourites with the combination of excellent racing and fantastic off-track entertainment. A big thank you goes to all our sponsors this evening; Palmaris Services Ltd, Patersons of Greenoakhill, PDM Buildbase Scotland and Nodram Decorating, as well as David and Lisa Johnstone from Your Equipment Solutions who join us tonight to celebrate their Silver Wedding Anniversary. I’d also like to welcome Lighthouse Club who are with us in the Club Lawn marquee tonight and are raising monies for very worthy causes. I do hope you and all your guests have a wonderful evening with us. Tonight’s racing has attracted good fields across the card with tonight’s feature race, the £30,000 Palmaris Services Braveheart Handicap Stakes at 7.20pm. Jim Goldie has once again targeted this race with the now 10-year-old Sir Chauvelin who will be going for a hat-trick of wins in this race following victories in 2016 and 2017. Top of the weights is Dark Jedi for Tim Easterby who is also a former course winner back in 2020 which came on soft ground, so conditions should suit him well this evening. Joe Fanning once again teams up with Charlie and Mark Johnston to ride Tribal Art who will be hoping to improve on their second place run in the Buttonhook Handicap on opening day, whilst Owners Two Goldfish & A Balloon will be looking for Heights of Abraham to feature having placed third in the same race. The Palmaris Hire Services William Wallace Handicap at 7.55pm looks set to be an excellent contest with five former Hamilton Park winners going head-to-head amongst a field of thirteen. Jordan Electrics, owned by Brian Jordan and family, won over the same distance here at Hamilton as well as Ayr last July, so I’m sure they will be looking to return to that form. My thanks go to the team at Jordan Electrics who are valued sponsors here at Hamilton Park, with their brand featuring on our head-on box at the Winning Post. Away from the track action, the team here at Hamilton is proud to be supporting Mental Health Awareness week and we’ve been working with Racing Welfare to raise awareness of the different types of mental health issues people can face, with the focus this year on loneliness. The aim of the week is to encourage people to talk when they are struggling, whether that’s to a friend or a professional. The message that it’s okay not to be okay, and to seek support in times of difficulty is more relevant than ever, especially as we move out of the pandemic which has affected us all so much and in many different ways. Details on how to reach out to Racing Welfare are in this evenings racecard. After racing this evening I hope many of you will stay on to enjoy a mix of 90s dance classics, as iconic stars Kelly Llorenna, Urban Cookie Collective and house legend Dario G take to the stage, taking us through until bars close at 11pm. Have a great night and I hope you find a few winners! Kind regards, ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR

Second Race

6.10p.m.

THE DAVID & LISA JOHNSTONE SILVER WEDDING CELEBRATIONS HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a one mile and one furlong handicap race for three-year-olds only which have been rated from 51 to 70. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

RACE STATISTICS

Leading course trainer (17-22): K Dalgleish (58 wins from 443 runners, 13%) runs HEIGHTS OF ARAN Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): C & M Johnston (12 wins from 65 runners, 18%) runs MACKENZIE ROSE Longest Traveller: WYNTER WILDES trained by C Fellowes, Newmarket, 360 miles.

7-2 Mackenzie Rose (IRE), 8-1 Cianciana (GB), 11-1 Lady Valentine (IRE), 33-1 Bellshill Beauty (IRE), 66-1 Porto Ercole (IRE) RACE SUMMARY: WYNTER WILDES faced a stiff task in the Cheshire Oaks 9 days ago, so she should appreciate the return to a handicap and can get back to winning ways. The form of her Redcar third in April has worked out well, with the 1st and 2nd winning again since, and the 9f trip could bring out further progress. Heights of Aran is feared most after his win here 12 days ago, with Mackenzie Rose completing the shortlist. 1-2-3: 1.WYNTER WILDES 2.HEIGHTS OF ARAN (IRE) 3.MACKENZIE ROSE (IRE) STEWARDS NOTE: WYNTER WILDES: Following its run on 4/5/2022 it was reported that the horsae suffered interference in running. ONE MILE about 68 YARDS (8f abt 68yds) (1600m)

Third Race

6.45p.m. THE PDM BUILDBASE SCOTLAND HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a one mile handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 55. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap.

RACE STATISTICS

ONE MILE about FOUR FURLONGS (12f abt 15yds) (2400m)

Fourth Race

7.20p.m.

THE PALMARIS SERVICES BRAVEHEART HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 3) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a one mile and four furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 76 to 95. Once a horse has qualified for a handicap rating this is regularly reassessed. A below-par effort could result in a reduced rating whilst a strong performance could see the rating increased. Occasionally, horses are entered to race before their handicap rating has been reviewed and so to avoid recent winners being un-penalised they are allotted a mandatory penalty – usually 6lb.

RACE STATISTICS

Leading course trainer (17-22): K Dalgleish (58 wins from 443 runners, 13%) runs HEIGHTS OF ABRAHAM Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): C & M Johnston (12 wins from 65 runners, 18%) runs TRIBAL ART Longest Traveller: FARHAN trained by J Butler & PERCY’S PRIDE trained by W Knight, both Newmarket, 360 miles.

Last season’s November Handicap winner improved run-to-run at 3 yrs, and he can build on a pleasing return with likely soft underfoot conditions to suit. Tribal Art’s recent second here has been boosted by Forza Orta this week and he can go well again, whilst Get Shirty and Heights of Abraham also hold solid claims. 1-2-3: 1.FARHAN (IRE) 2.TRIBAL ART (IRE) 3.GET SHIRTY (IRE)

THE PALMARIS HIRE SERVICES WILLIAM WALLACE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a six furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 61 to 80.

Sixth Race

8.25p.m.

THE PATERSONS OF GREENOAKHILL HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a six furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 55. To qualify for a handicap rating horses must have run at least three times in a Flat race in Britain, or have run in no more than two Flat races run in Britain and won at least one of them. This rating then dictates the weight to be carried in a handicap.

RACE STATISTICS

Leading course trainer (17-22): J Goldie (17 wins from 190 runners, 9%) runs BOBBY SHAFTOE Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): J Goldie (2 wins from 16 runners, 12%) runs BOBBY SHAFTOE Weightwatcher: PEACHEY CARNEHAN won off a handicap mark of 55, his rating is now down 7lb to 48. Longest Traveller: PEACHEY CARNEHAN trained by M Mullineaux, Tarporley, 225 miles.

BETTING FORECAST: 3-1 Red Allure (GB), 7-2 Rain Cap (GB), 5-1 Peachey Carnehan (GB), 7-1 Mansfield (GB), 11-1 Spartakos (GB), 14-1 Stroxx (IRE), 16-1 Fircombe Hall (GB), 20-1 Bobby Shaftoe (GB), 33-1 Slainte Mhath (GB) RACE SUMMARY: RAIN CAP showed the benefit of his return when third at Musselburgh last month and can build on that effort to get off the mark for the season. The 5-y-o recorded two wins last year, both with Kieran Schofield on board, so the pair could be able to team up for another success. Red Allure hasn’t been with her current yard for long and can go well, while Peachey Carnehan can also give his running again. 1-2-3: 1.RAIN CAP 2.RED ALLURE 3.PEACHEY CARNEHAN STEWARDS NOTE: BOBBY SHAFTOE: Following its run on 25/4/2022 it was reported that the horse was upset pre race and slow away.

Seventh Race

8.55p.m.

THE NODRAM DECORATING HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a five furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 46 to 60.
