THE SKY BET SUNDAY SERIES SPRINT HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 3) FOR FOUR YRS OLD AND UPWARDS NUMBER OF DECLARED RUNNERS 15

RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a five furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 90. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

RACE STATISTICS

Leading course trainer (17-22): K Dalgleish (58 wins from 442 runners, 13%) runs THE THIN BLUE LINE Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): D O’Meara (9 wins from 53 runners, 17%) runs SOUL SEEKER Weightwatcher: RAYONG won off a handicap mark of 93, his rating is now down 8lb to 85. BETTING FORECAST: 7-1 Rayong (GB), 8-1 Sound Reason (GB), 9-1 Ava Go Joe (IRE), 11-1 Zim Baby (GB), Huddle Up (IRE), 14-1 Showalong (GB), Candescence (GB), 16-1 Fine Wine (FR), Call Me Ginger (GB), Soul Seeker (IRE), The Thin Blue Line (IRE), 18-1 Miss Nay Never (IRE), 20-1 Black Friday (GB), 25-1 Be Proud (IRE), 40-1 Dave Dexter (GB) RACE SUMMARY: A very competitive sprint. RAYONG looked right back in form at Pontefract and has defied a mark in the 90s before so he could still be well treated even after a 7lb rise. Sound Reason and Huddle Up are both quite lightly raced as sprinters go and are possible threats if ready to roll after breaks. Call Me Ginger will likely need things to fall his way but he’s one who could be keeping on at the finish if the leaders go too hard. 1-2-3: 1.RAYONG 2.SOUND REASON 3.HUDDLE UP (IRE)
