WELCOME A very warm welcome to you all this afternoon and thank you for coming to our Sky Bet Sunday Series Raceday. Today is our richest raceday ever here at Hamilton Park with over £200,000 in prize money up for grabs across seven races, and I’m delighted to see that our investment in our race programme has been rewarded with near-full field sizes across the card. At a time when the spotlight is on low field sizes up and down the country, the Sky Bet Sunday Series demonstrates what can be achieved when the industry comes together to put on excellent prize-money and competitive racing in a late-afternoon weekend slot, which is all on terrestrial television. It’s a fantastic initiative which hopefully will help to attract the next generation of racing fans both on course and at home. My sincere thanks go to Sky Bet as well as the British Horse Racing Authority, Racecourse Media Group and ITV Racing, all of whom have played a key part in the development of this series. Particular thanks go to all of the Owners, Trainers, Jockey’s and Stable Staff for their incredible support of today’s fixture, it’s wonderful for us to be welcoming Horsemen from across the UK and Ireland to Hamilton Park. There are some fantastic bonuses and prizes linked to the Sky Bet Sunday Series which should provide some excellent competition over the six fixtures in the series. These include; · £100,000 to the first jockey to ride 7 winners in the Series · £100,000 to the owner of the first horse to win 3 races in the Series · £25,000 to the first trainer to train 7 winners in the Series · Stable Staffprizestothethree leading stables with guaranteed prizes of£10,000 (1st), £3,000 (2nd) and £2,000 (3rd), based on points from winners, seconds, thirds and runners · Prizeforwinningapprentice(basedonmostwins/placesintheSeries),includinga12-monthsponsorship from Sporting Life (worth £5k) and Media training/internship with Racing TV Sky Bet are also enhancing the Best Turned Out award to £250 per race (split for 1st, 2nd and 3rd) for all races in the Series, to ensure Stable Staff are rewarded for their work preparing their horses for each race. With so many runners this afternoon we’re sure to see some extremely competitive racing. The Sky Bet Sunday Series Sprint Handicap at 5.18pm is over our shortest distance of 5 furlongs, with previous Hamilton Park winner Call Me Ginger looking to feature for Jim Goldie. However, the David O’Meara-trained Soul Seeker won twice here over this distance in 2021 and could well challenge for the win under Daniel Tudhope. By contrast, the 6.18pm Stayers Handicap is over our longest trip of 1 mile, 5 furlongs, with our unique starting position beyond the winning post. This looks an intriguing contest, with course and distance winner Captain Haddock looking to follow up from victory in 2021 for Heather Main, whilst the pairing of Keith Dalgleish and Callum Rodriguez will be hoping that El Picador continues his fine form having won at Musselburgh on 28 April. We’re delighted to be welcoming the team of Luke Harvey, Leonna Mayor, Megan Nicholls and Timeform’s Dan Barber who will be presenting ITV Racing’s coverage live on ITV4. The team from Racing TV are also with us and will be sharing stories from around the course on their Instagram pages, so do use #Raceday if you are using social media this afternoon. After racing we welcome entertainment from Massaoke, who bring their liveband sing-along to Hamilton Park. It should be a fun-filled way to end the evening so do stay on after the last race to enjoy the show. Have a wonderful raceday and I hope you find a few winners! Kind regards,

ASHLEY MOON, RACECOURSE MANAGING DIRECTOR

THE SKY BET SUNDAY SERIES RESTRICTED MAIDEN STAKES (CLASS 3) (FOR HORSES IN BANDS A, B, C AND D) (GBB RACE) RACE DESCRIPTION

FOR MAIDEN TWO YRS OLD NUMBER OF DECLARED RUNNERS 8

RACE STATISTICS

Sky Bet have very generously sponsored this race and will present a memento to the Winning Owner. In addition, they will present a cash prize to the person in charge of the horse judged to be the best turned out. Owners Prize Money. Winner £8126; Second £4064; Third £2032; Fourth £1016; Fifth £508; Sixth £254. (Penalty Value £10308)

This race is a five furlongs maiden stakes for two-year-olds. Maiden races provide a starting point for young horses that are yet to record a victory and most will be very lightly-raced or be making their racecourse debuts. Previous experience can count for a lot when searching for the winner but well-bred or precocious juveniles are more than capable of landing the prize at the first time of asking.

THE SKY BET SUNDAY SERIES FILLIES’ HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) FOR THREE YRS OLD AND UPWARDS FILLIES AND MARES NUMBER OF DECLARED RUNNERS 15

RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a one mile and one furlong handicap race for threeyear-olds and upwards fillies and mares only which have been rated from 0 to 80. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. The aim is to ensure competitive racing by asking the higher rated horses to carry more weight than a lower rated rival. As a guide, horses rated 40 tend to be at the lower end of the scale whilst the very best performers would be rated as high as 130.

RACE STATISTICS

THE SKY BET SUNDAY SERIES SPRINT HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 3) FOR FOUR YRS OLD AND UPWARDS NUMBER OF DECLARED RUNNERS 15

RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a five furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 90. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. RACE STATISTICS

Leading course trainer (17-22): K Dalgleish (58 wins from 442 runners, 13%) runs THE THIN BLUE LINE Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): D O’Meara (9 wins from 53 runners, 17%) runs SOUL SEEKER Weightwatcher: RAYONG won off a handicap mark of 93, his rating is now down 8lb to 85. Longest Traveller: FINE WINE trained by S Dixon, Rolleston, 298 miles.

BETTING FORECAST: 7-1 Rayong (GB), 8-1 Sound Reason (GB), 9-1 Ava Go Joe (IRE), 11-1 Zim Baby (GB), Huddle Up (IRE), 14-1 Showalong (GB), Candescence (GB), 16-1 Fine Wine (FR), Call Me Ginger (GB), Soul Seeker (IRE), The Thin Blue Line (IRE), 18-1 Miss Nay Never (IRE), 20-1 Black Friday (GB), 25-1 Be Proud (IRE), 40-1 Dave Dexter (GB) RACE SUMMARY: A very competitive sprint. RAYONG looked right back in form at Pontefract and has defied a mark in the 90s before so he could still be well treated even after a 7lb rise. Sound Reason and Huddle Up are both quite lightly raced as sprinters go and are possible threats if ready to roll after breaks. Call Me Ginger will likely need things to fall his way but he’s one who could be keeping on at the finish if the leaders go too hard. 1-2-3: 1.RAYONG 2.SOUND REASON 3.HUDDLE UP (IRE)

THE QUEEN’S GREEN CANOPY

HAMILTON PARK MARK THE QUEEN’S JUBILEE The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee has been marked at Hamilton Park as they took part in the nationwide project to plant trees as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative. The Groundsteam found the ideal area to plant a beautiful Beech Tree, at the entrance to the resort, with a commemorative plaque placed beside the tree. Racecourse Managing Director Ashley Moon said “Hamilton Park is delighted to participate in the Queen’s Green Canopy project and to be able to enhance our beautiful grounds with a legacy landmark in honour of the Queen’s leadership of the nation.” The Queen’s Green Canopy was launched last May and its aim is to create a national legacy in honour of the Queen’s monarchy over 70 years.

THE SKY BET SUNDAY SERIES STAYERS HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a one mile and five furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 80. In a handicap the weight that each of the runners carries is determined by their official handicap rating which is based on their level of form shown so far. BETTING FORECAST: 13-2 Uncharted (GB), 15-2 Emaraty Hero (GB), Baileys Derbyday (GB), 9-1 El Picador (IRE), 10-1 Haizoom (GB), Lord Torranaga (FR), 14-1 Captain Haddock (IRE), 16-1 Justus (IRE), Cloud Thunder (GB), 20-1 Percy Willis (GB), Wynford (IRE), Alpine Stroll (GB), 33-1 Grand Canal (IRE), 50-1 Cease And Desist (IRE), 100-1 Ebony Maw (GB) RACE SUMMARY: Another fiercely-competitive contest in which EMARATY HERO is put forward as the answer. Grant Tuer’s charge shaped encouragingly despite being caught further back than ideal on his return to action at Doncaster just over a fortnight ago and that effort should’ve put him spot on for this. Baileys Derbyday is still somewhat unexposed as a stayer so he’s fancied to give the selection most to think about, with front-runner Cloud Thunder and Uncharted another couple worth considering. 1-2-3: 1.EMARATY HERO 2.BAILEYS DERBYDAY 3.CLOUD THUNDER

ONE MILE about THREE FURLONGS (11f abt 15yds) (2200m)

Seventh Race

THE SKY BET SUNDAY SERIES MIDDLE DISTANCE APPRENTICE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) RACE DESCRIPTION

This is a one mile and three furlongs handicap race for four-year-olds and upwards which have been rated from 0 to 85.

Leading course trainer (17-22): K Dalgleish (58 wins from 442 runners, 13%) runs ALPINE SIERRA and HEIGHTS OF ABRAHAM and HOWZER BLACK Trainer-in-form (last 14 days): C & M Johnston (8 wins from 68 runners, 12%) runs HAPPY Weightwatcher: HOWZER BLACK won off a handicap mark of 88, his rating is now down 7lb to 81. RACE SUMMARY: LIFE ON THE ROCKS looked a handicapper to keep on the right side of for the bulk of last season and confirmed that promise with a reappearance win at Ayr. With further improvement likely to come, he can follow up in this competitive event. The similarly unexposed Happy looks a threat, whilst the likes of Heights of Abraham, Strawman and Tilsitt can fight it out for minor honours. 1-2-3: 1.LIFE ON THE ROCKS (IRE) 2.HAPPY (IRE) 3.HEIGHTS OF ABRAHAM (IRE) STEWARDS NOTE: GEREMIA: Following its run on 24/9/2021 it was reported that the horse hung left-handed under pressure.STRAWMAN: Following its run on 23/4/2022 it was reported that the horse was slowly away.HOWZER BLACK: Following its run on 23/4/2022 it was reported that the horse suffered interference late-on.
