WHAT’S GOING ON TODAY?
There is plenty happening around the racecourse throughout today, with a range of exciting activities taking place offering fun for all the family. The following guide lets you get the most from your day at Goodwood. Gates Open
11.30am Come along and explore Goodwood Racecourses first fixture of the season. With new look bars and restaurants to be explored, in addition to activity for all the family, there is something for everyone. Don’t miss the parade of retired racehorses, which features the likes of superstar sprinter Limato at 12 noon.
Retraining of Racehorses Parade
12.15pm A parade of retired racehorses takes place in the paddock before racing. The parade showcases the versatility of the thoroughbred together with the range of activities open to racehorses when they finish their racing careers, thanks to the work of Retraining of Racehorses. Today’s parade features some familiar names who have adapted to a new career, notably the Group 1 winning sprinter, Limato, and the Queen’s former top class chaser Barbers Shop.
Have you Ever Met a Racehorse Before? Take a trip down to the Lennox Enclosure where you can meet one of these amazing animals and say ‘hello’ to Bob’s Boy, speak to his owners and find out how he is enjoying life following retirement from racing.
Take on the Jockeys! Test your race riding skills on a mechanical equiciser, run by racing’s educational charity Racing To School. As the afternoon unfolds and the top-class racing action gets underway, enjoy live music on the South Downs from the saxophone and string quartet.
Racing Begins
1.35pm The Maiden Stakes signals the start of the afternoon’s racing action. A total of seven races will take place with the final one scheduled for 4.55pm.
Trips to the Start
2.10pm, 3.20pm & 4.20pm Get the complimentary shuttle bus to the race start for a thrilling experience. The bus leaves from the East Entrance bus terminal at 2.10pm, 3.20pm and 4.25pm.
Last Orders at Bars 6.00pm
Racecourse Closes 6.30pm
