3. Frank Sandatra – Ridden by Alexandra Gooding

9-year-old by Equiano, formerly trained by Peter Crate

Breeder – Peter Crate

Frank Sandatra did not have a distinguished racing career, running seven times without troubling the judge, but a lack of success on track has not impeded his post-racing career. “Frankie” joined Alexandra Gooding last summer and applying similar principles to Pilates, she has since been working on developing Frankie’s core strength, balance and suppleness through flat work and dressage. They have just started competing at Novice Dressage level and Alexandra says, “We are looking forward to an exciting summer of dressage, showing and maybe some jumping.”

4. King’s Warrior – Ridden by Jo Brisland

15-year-old by King’s Best, formerly trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam

Breeder – Sunny Days Limited

King’s Warrior enjoyed a diverse racing career, being trained both in France and England and running over hurdles and on the flat. His highlight was winning the 2012 running of the valuable John Smith’s Cup at York. As a yearling he was ridden away by today’s rider, Jo Brisland, who followed him throughout his racing career and after his retirement in 2015 his owner kindly gave him to Jo to start a second career. Together they have competed in many disciplines, including three times qualifying for the Tattersalls RoR In-hand showing final at the Jockey Club RoR National Championships.

5. Limato – Ridden by Ellie Greenhalgh

10-year-old by Tagula, formerly trained by Henry Candy

Breeder – Seamus Phelan

A top-class sprinter and winner of 14 of his 33 races, including the Group 1 July Cup, Limato has been with Katie Jerram-Hunnable since he retired from racing in autumn 2020. Katie reports that Limato settled in really quickly and is a real character. He loves Princess the cat and his stable mate Ballin My Lady. Last year Limato took part in RoR showing classes, concluding with a win at the West Wiltshire show, and the plan is to continue down the showing path and hopefully secure some more good results for his very supportive owner Paul Jacobs.
