WBC celebtrates 10th Anniversary WBC invites all EXCO members past and present, founding members, members, friends and supporters, donor agencies, strategic partners and business alliances to join us in celebrating our 10th anniversary will falls on the 20 June 2010. This is an auspicious moment for WBC members and all women especially those who have continuously contributed positively to the economic development of the nation. WBC pays a special tribute to these dedicated women who helped to elevate the status of women through economic empowerment. WBC will always serve as a forum of inspiration; knowledge and networking platform for women to continuously upgrade their skills and make their businesses grow. We are most thankful to all concerned for your positive and continuous support from day one and we look forward to seeing you in our future programmes.

29 th ASEAN Tourism Forum 2010

ATF 2010 theme, "ASEAN - The Heart of Green", was set to resonate the successes of past ATFs in promoting tourism in the region, as well as advancing 2010's green theme in entrenching responsible environmental and social practices in all tourism-related businesses. The ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) is a travel trade show which rotates annually among the member countries of ASEAN. The 2010 ATF took place in Brunei Darussalam. The next ATF will take place in Phnom Penh Cambodia 15 - 21 January 2011. The event included a meeting of tourism working groups with experts and senior officials of tourism agencies of ASEAN countries; a meeting between ASEAN Tourism Agencies, ASEAN and partners; ASEAN Tourism Ministers meeting, ASEAN and partners. ATF meeting concluded with the Tourism Strategic Plan and saw the beginning of the ASEAN +3 meeting that included all 10 Asean countries with Japan, Korea and China. The Tourism Strategic Plan, which is a five-year roadmap that highlights key issues on tourism in Asean, is given as a framework on how those involved would want to approach these issues, especially on air connectivity, product development and resources. Some of the events were the ATF Friendly Golf Tournament, ATF 2010 Opening Ceremony, Cambodia Night Dinner Function, Brunei Products Expo, Asean Tourism Conference, Aseanta Awards, Asean Tourism Strategic Plan and Aseanta "Feel the Warmth" Campaign presentation, late night function hosted by Pattaya, Malaysia Night, the Green Hotel award as well as the soft launching of the new High-Tech Travel website southeastasia.org. WBC members took part in the Brunei Products Expo.


Approximately 1,500 delegates comprising 750 exhibitors, 363 buyers, 87 media personnel, 200 officials and some extra 100 delegates from 56 countries attended the Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) during the ATF.

BEDB Briefing on an on-line marketing portal for Brunei Business and Awarding of contact to Amir Consortium

Brunei's first online marketing portal for local businesses, www.padian.com, is aimed at promoting made-in-Brunei products for Brunei and overseas markets, which will help contribute towards the realisation of economic diversification. The Minister of Communications Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Dr Hj Awg Abu Bakar Hj Apong was the guest of honour. He was welcomed by the Acting Chairman of BEDB Dato Paduka Timothy Ong. The Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) conducted the briefing on the portal which is also aimed at facilitating business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) transactions. Providing greater access to information sharing, networking as well as business matching for Brunei SMEs, the portal will be implemented by AMIR Consortium, which comprises of a group of four local ICT Companies from iCentre - Alif Technologies Sdn Bhd, Mimit e-Technology, Syarikat Indah Sejahtera Development and Services Sdn Bhd and Rafiqun Information and Technology Services. This was follwed by the signing of an agreement between BEDB and the winning consortium to develop the online business portal. Signing on behalf of BEDB was its CEO Vincent Cheong, Deputy CEO Dr Manaf Metussin and Acting Senior Account Manager of Local Business Development Division, Nurul Ain Hj Jaafar. Signing on behalf of AMIR Consortium was the Chairman of Alif Technologies Sdn Bhd, Pg Mohammad Pg Hj Kamaluddin, Managing Director of Syarikat Indah Sejahtera Development & Services Hj Mohammed Dato Seri Paduka Talib, Managing Director of Mimit e-Technology Hj Rushdi and Ak Isa Pg Hj Mohd Noor of Rafiqun IT Services. Soft launch of eBunda.com


BAG Networks held a soft launch of their eBunda.com portal held at the Theaterette, Ministry of Finance Building. The purpose of the portal is to provide a platform in which information can be shared and also to create awareness on issues which are important to women; acts as an avenue in which women are able to develop themselves through online learning and also as a platform to build supportive and collaborative network amongst women.

ebunda was part of Bruneian women initiatives towards human capital and diversity agenda and was a result of initial feedback received from an informal focus group held on October 23, 2009, as a follow up session to the Women in Business Forum organised annually by Asia Inc.
