WOMEN’S RETREAT
REFLECTIONS
The retreat, themed “Experiencing God’s Presence in Transition,” was thoughtfully crafted by the Women’s Retreat Planning Committee At its heart was our guest speaker, Jane Filkin, who offered a deeply moving exploration of life’s transitions.
Setting the Scene
From May 2–4, the tranquil grounds of St. Raphaela Center in Haverford, PA, welcomed nearly 50 women of all ages for the annual Women’s Retreat—an enriching weekend of rest, reflection, and renewal. In response to overwhelming enthusiasm, the retreat was extended by an additional day this year, allowing participants the option to stay overnight on Saturday and depart Sunday morning. Attendees came and went on their own schedules, with some joining for a single day and others remaining for the entire journey. www.waynepres.org
WORSHIP & FELLOWSHIP
Each day was anchored in worship and fellowship, with time set aside for breakout sessions including: Yoga, Art exploration, guided spiritual practices such as Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina, individual prayer with designated prayer leaders and personal reflection through walking the labyrinth or journaling
TANGIBLE REMINDERS
A central symbol of the weekend was the opportunity for each woman to select a unique piece of art by Carol Aust, framed in glass. These beautiful works served as tangible eminders of the different transitions we each navigate nd the sacredness embedded in those moments.
SPIRITUAL RHYTHM
Meals and informal gatherings around shared tables invited deeper connection and storytelling, while worship music, hymns, and meaningful liturgies helped root the weekend in spiritual rhythm.
NEW BEGINNINGS
One especially poignant ritual involved writing down personal "endings" and placing them in a symbolic Moses basket floating on a blue fabric “Nile” a collective act of letting go.
