Grounded in the work of "Street Data" (Safir & Dugan, 2021), "Just Schools" (Ishimaru, 2020) and "Courageous Conversations About Race" (Singleton, 2022), Washtenaw ISD is available to support you and your team in engaging in educational transformation that is truly student-centered. Shift from focusing on “fixing” and “filling” academic gaps to envisioning and rebuilding the system from the student up—with classrooms, schools, and systems built around students’ brilliance, cultural wealth, and intellectual potential. Break out of traditional improvement models that reinforce the status quo as our facilitators guide you through collaborative inquiry WITH students using the Equity Transformation Cycle (Street Data, 2021). Data-driven inquiry can be humanizing, liberating, and healing! Contact Amy Olmstead-Brayton to learn more!
CPR KIts
The Washtenaw Intermediate School District in cooperation with the American Heart Association is providing CPR Training Kits for check-out to assist school districts in meeting their legal requirement to train students in using CPR. CPR kits are to be used for "hands-only" CPR (psychomotor/chest compressions). Students should not practice mouth to mouth (breathing CPR) with these kits. Kit check-outs are FREE for all Washtenaw and Livingston county educators. Kit check-out requests must be made two weeks prior to the date of the kit pick-up request and kits must be returned within two weeks from the date of kit pick-up.

This program, developed by the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) is considered the global standard for crisis prevention and intervention training. With a core philosophy of providing for the Care, Welfare, Safety and Security of everyone involved in a crisis situation, the program's proven strategies give educators the skills to safely respond to various levels of risk behavior while balancing the responsibilities of care. It is a safe non-harmful behavior support system that aligns with Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) in that it focuses mainly on the prevention of negative behaviors rather than the reaction to negative behaviors by teaching participants about re-establishing a therapeutic relationship after crisis. The program also teaches physical intervention strategies to be used only as a last resort when an individual presents risk behavior that is an imminent danger to self or others. All physical interventions taught are designed to be non-harmful, non-invasive, and to maintain an individual's dignity. At the end of the course you will be given a signed Blue Card indicating you participated in the course. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PASS THE PHYSICAL INTERVENTION PORTION OF THIS COURSE THIS WILL BE NOTED ON YOUR BLUE CARD. BLUE CARDS MUST BE BROUGHT TO REFRESHER TRAINING THE FOLLOWING YEAR. BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH-NO TIME TO EAT OUT
