First, I would like to welcome all the new readers who have signed up for the new Season Start 2, which starts in October 2022. The interest in participating is enormous around the world.

Summer is here, and round 4 of the Season Start 1.

It was a special moment when we received the video from Kelly Penford, New York, who did his first hole-in-one (155 Yards), but it was also the first hole-in-one in the history of the World Amateur Match Race. HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to you, Kelly - save one for the final in Dubai.

I also want to thank everyone who shared your great golf moments at the World Amateur Match Race on our Facebook and Instagram accounts. It is great fun to see all the videos and pictures worldwide.

Who is behind the World Amateur Match Race?

4 guestions to Sten Haakan Aakerlund, CEO and Founder of Happy Tech Group This year the World Amateur Match Race grew more than 467%, a growth that you must be thrilled with?

Yes, of course, but it is a growth that we expected. In May 2021, Happy Tech launched the first edition of the World Amateur Match Race. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic that closed several countries, we managed to get more than 3.000 players to sign up for the tournament in just a few weeks.

At the second edition of the World Amateur Match Race, we grew 467%. I am thrilled to see that our tournament concept within golf is appreciated and well-received worldwide. For the second edition of the World Amateur Match Race, we saw a growth rate of 467%. You can only smile when you see 15.000 new sign-ups for the golf tournament this year and receive tons of positive feedback from existing and new players. Then you know we did something right!

How is it possible to run the tournament across 6 continents?

Happy Tech has built a unique cloud solution for sports tournaments. This solution removes the headaches and obstacles of organising and administrating a sports event. Our solution is a fully automated platform that makes it possible for any amount of teams to participate in the same tournament.

These key benefits allow Happy Tech to expand faster in each country and sports event while capturing more global market share. At the same time, everything is scalable and secure.

The growth of the World Amateur Match Race will not stop here but will increase further while we are launching Season Start 2 of the tournament. It is played from October to March 2023, with the World Final in Dubai in April 2023.

Season Start 2 will aim for participants mainly in the southern parts of the US with the states of Florida, California, Texas and Arizona, as well as Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South Africa, Argentina, Thailand and Malaysia. I predict that Season Start 2 will have more participants from these countries due to the weather, which is the peak season to play golf.

Do you only organize the World Amateur Match Race in Golf?

No, Happy Tech's business model is to create a unique tournament concept for some of the world's fastest-growing sports for amateurs worldwide.

We have recently launched the World Padel Race, which starts in October 2022 and is played until March 2023. It ends with the grand international World Final in Dubai in April 2023. Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and the potential of this tournament concept is HUGE!!. I will not be surprised if we already will see 20.000 sign-ups for Padel this year alone.

We will continue to build on the past year's success as we are ready to roll out our highly scalable model with new tournament concepts like Screen Golf, Pickleball and Badminton as the following sports.

Is it correct that players can now invest in Happy Tech Group?

Yes, it is true. We believe in co-ownership and that shareholders who like to join our tournaments also will be fantastic ambassadors for all our tournament concepts.

Our goal is to have +200.000 sign-ups annually within three years.

The capital from selling shares will be reinvested to launch and do marketing for the following 5 upcoming tournament concepts.

With more and more sports tournaments onboard in the following years, our ambition is to be listed on the Nasdaq Dubai stock exchange in 2025.

How long have you been playing golf, and what is your hcp?

Bron Hadley

Joyce Minette: About 17 years, taking it more seriously over the last 4 years. My hcp is 26 Bron Hadley: Just over 2 years, my hcp is 32 Which is your home course?

How many times have you participated in the World Amateur Match Race?

Joyce Minette: This is my first, which is very exciting, but I already love this tournament. I hope more women players will join worldwide. My team even signed up for the World Amateur Match Race Season Start 2, played from October till March in countries with excellent weather, like Australia, Argentina, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, Thailand and USA. Bron Hadley: This is my first time, and I dare say it won't be the last. I've already registered for the World Amateur Match Race Season Start 2, which is now open for registration here in Australia and New Zealand, amongst other selected countries.

Are there more players from your club participating in the tournament?

Joyce Minette: Yes, two friends of mine, Mike Houston and Pete Murrell.

Bron Hadley: Yes, I believe there is a men's team.

Do you think it is a problem that we mixed males & females in this tournament?

Joyce Minette: No, not at all. It's enjoyable playing mixed.

Bron Hadley: Not really, as long as handicaps are entered correctly along with the lady's and gent's tees.

What is the best thing about the game form Match Play, best ball?

Joyce Minette: Playing with my friends (both females and males) in teams, we can experience different golf courses and meet new people with the same interests.

Do you know other female teams/players? And are they also playing World Amateur Match Race?

Joyce Minette: I know plenty of female players; however, none of them is in the WAMR. Bron and I hope and emphasise all female players to sign-up and join. We all have the same chance to qualify for the final in Dubai, and male or female does not matter.

Though Bron and myself playing this year, my absolute excitement of winning round 2, raising awareness of the game, and sharing on Facebook and Instagram, they are now following with keen interest. I would love to see more females in the WAMR. It's a pressure game yet so much fun.

Bron Hadley: I don't know any other ladies playing in WAMR. I'm looking forward to meeting and playing against them at the finals in Dubai.

What is your and your team partner's strength in Match Play?

Joyce Minette: Brony and I are great friends! We are extremely competitive and determined and thrive on each other's encouragement, motivation, support and, of course…..our brilliant sense of humour. Brony's strength (being a personal trainer) in the distance she achieves in her drives and fairway shots is fantastic. I tend to shine in my short game, mainly the putting.

We play well as a team and get very excited after winning a hole!! I cannot tell you HOW EXCITED we were after winning Round 2 in the winner bracket; I checked I had a valid passport…lol.

Bron Hadley: I would say our strength is that we are very good friends and have the utmost respect for each other and the game of golf. We absolutely love playing mixed golf as we feel it is really good for our game to play against men.

Joyce is so calm under pressure and has a calming effect on me. I have an online business where I inspire women to be the best they can be, so I love being an example of what is possible. I would love to encourage more women to participate in tournaments like this. I think it's fantastic for the game of golf and for our health.

Favourite player?

Joyce Minette: Female, Annika Sorenstam Male, Tiger Woods.

Bron Hadley: Jason Day. I was fortunate to attend the Canadian Open in 2015 and "high-fived" him on Day 4, and I think that "high-five" was instrumental in helping him win the Canadian Open that year…hahaha.

Joyce Minette: Female, Ash Barty (she's so focused, and then we can have a Barty Party) Male, Bill Murray (for his dry sense of humour – how much fun would that be!!!)

Best Course in Australia?

Joyce Minette: I have played Bonville, which is challenging and stunning.

Bron Hadley: Not sure if it's the best course, but the most challenging I've ever played was Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays. Wow-what a course! Every fairway has a runoff, and most fairways, you can't even see from the t box. It's a matter of hit and hope for the best. My husband and I lost +40 balls, and he's off a handicap of 17, so it was tough.

Favourite club in the bag and why?

Joyce Minette: My new Odyssey putter, just feels so nice! This is followed closely by my 5 wood, which I am hitting well and consistently in Australia's current wet conditions.

Bron Hadley: My favourite club is my Taylor Made SIMS 5 hybrid. If my woods and I are having a bad day and don't see eye to eye, my trusty 5 hybrid comes out and usually gets me out of trouble.

Can you mention three holes from "Your Club" that you think will be crucial in an upcoming match?

Joyce Minette: 1st hole – sets the mindset scene (confidence and optimism), 9th hole – is an advantage for females & 15th hole – Par 4 for males and Par 5 for females. I love this hole!

Bron Hadley: Crucial holes that have challenged me in different ways are the 3rd, 7th & 10th. The 3rd is a long par 3, and I need to be deliberate and accurate with my driver. The 7th because if I hit a good drive, then it's just a shot over the water (which I attempt and miss most times, my husband says it's because I'm stubborn, haha) and the 10th because it's so long and I try to hit the crap out of the ball to get there in 3 shots. I must keep reminding myself that I'm a handicap of 32, not 2.

This Season Start 2, we got enormous expectations for the numbers of participants from the southern parts of the US with the states of Florida, California, Texas and Arizona. We are 100% sure it will become a huge success.

he southern parts of the US, with the states of Florida, California, Texas and Arizona, have significant golf courses where many golfers enjoy this fantastic game. We can establish many local group races within a radius of 150 km.

The golfers from Mexico and South Africa love our tournament "Kitan Gbadebo as at well. the Tee on the final round at Jumeirah Golf Estates "Earth" Course (Dubai) 2021."

We have seen significant sign-ups and payments for local group races in Mexico City and Johannesburg in South Africa. The instant payment secures a spot in the small local group races and removes the risk of not getting access to the tournament.

On the other side of the world, we got Australia & New Zealand, and they just LOVE to play golf!

Australia and New Zealand are countries in the top 5 measured on most registrations from Season Start 1. We even see teams signing up for Season Start 2 while still playing Season Start 1!

Besides the existing players, we see many new teams who want to join the race and enjoy the excellent golf weather when Season Start 2 goes live.

Sign-ups World Amateur Match Race

In Asia, we see significant interest in sign-ups from Thailand and Malaysia, focusing on local areas such as Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. These local registrations will secure the teams to play in small local group races and reduce travel distance.

In Spain, we see substantial interest in registrations around Malaga in the south of Spain, so they are getting ready for Season Start 2.

VAMOS! With new participants from countries such as Mexico, South Africa, Thailand, Malaysia and Argentina, the World Amateur Match Race is now played locally across 6 continents.

With the initial interest in the countries for Season Start 2, we will now do intensive marketing in the regions from July till September.

That will make the Season Start 2 the best experience for anyone, with small local group races, and hopefully, many teams will reach the tremendous international final in Dubai in April 2023.

If you cannot play all the matches during the World Amateur Match Race, do not worry; we got a solution for you and your team! Each team has the right to use two reserve players, and you may only use the same players. These reserves can complement the team if needed throughout the competition.

Using up to two reserve players during the competition gives the team the necessary flexibility in case of injury, work, vacation, etc.

This year we enhanced our digital scorecard by adding more data and features. One of the most significant changes in the scorecard is the automatic “SLOPE” adjustment. Below are mentioned some of the guidelines for preparing for a match.

The home team captain is in charge of the digital scorecard prior, under and after a match.

Both teams need to make sure all data, including current hcp, is updated in “Login/Member” before booking a tee time. Click on “Go to match info.”

Click on “Update lineups” and make the necessary changes (IF NEEDED) a. Adjust/Update your hcp b. Choose the Tee color c. Select/Deselect which players will play (If you got a reserve player).

Any adjustments to the club or scorecard are also adjusted in the Match Lineups.

Once the match is over, the losing team will have to check and accept the score AND submit it online.

Don´t forget to share the match with your friends so they can follow your match live.
