This innovative solution uses advanced algorithms to analyze player performance and identify any discrepancies between a player's reported handicap and their actual ability. Please tell me a bit about your team.
Kurt: Michael and I have known each other for many years, and back in 2020 we had a couple of beers while we were complaining about our “old bodies”. I have been playing tennis and Michael did triathlon in the past.
Michael: Suddenly we talked about golf and that was the kickstart for our golf passion. Since then, we have been avid golfers, playing regularly at Køge Golf Club and honing our skills. Our handicap has improved fast over the past two years, and now I play with hcp 14.1 and Kurt 18.6.
Kurt: We have formed a close-knit team, and we enjoy each other's company both on and off the course. We look forward to many more years of playing together and hope to see continued improvement in our game. Whether we're playing in a tournament or just a friendly round, we always strive to play our best and have a great time.
Kurt: We joined WAMR in 2021 and had thrilling games. We made it to the semi-finals but lost a close match.
Michael: In 2021, we missed out on reaching the World Final by just a hair, so we tried again in 2022 and succeeded. We hope to have similar success in 2023.
Michael: The final in Dubai was an incredible experience, one that we will never forget. The courses were breathtaking, with stunning views and challenging holes. The level of detail and care put into every aspect of the golfing experience was truly remarkable.
Kurt: I was thrilled to have the opportunity to play like a pro, the whole set-up was sublime from A to Z. and allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the game, pushing ourselves to perform at our best.
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to play at the World Final in Dubai, and I hope we will qualify again this year so we can return and experience it all over again. It was a once-in-alifetime opportunity, and I feel lucky to have had the chance to participate. We would like to thank the team in Dubai and those who made it possible.
Kurt: The tournament concept of a two-player match play better ball was a truly unique and enjoyable experience. It provided a different challenge compared to traditional stroke play, as it required us to think critically about our strategy and make decisions that not only benefited us individually but also our partner. Another fantastic thing with this concept is the “loser bracket” We lost one match in the group race and ended up in the loser bracket. We won the remaining matches including the final again finalists from the “winner bracket”
Michael: Yeah, it is awesome that you get a second chance for qualifying for the World Final in Dubai. Another thing we liked most about the match-play better ball tournament was the camaraderie it fostered. We had to work together as a team, supporting each other and playing to our strengths. This resulted in a much more supportive and inclusive atmosphere.
Overall, the tournament concept of the match-play better ball was a fantastic experience that we would love to participate in again. It provided a unique challenge and fostered a great sense of community and teamwork, making it one of our favourite golfing experiences to date
What did the biggest impact on you at the final in Dubai in 2022?
Kurt: The biggest impact on me at the final in Dubai in 2022 was the sheer beauty and difficulty of the golf courses The Jumeirah Golf Estates, Earth Course, was particularly memorable for me, especially since it came right after the DB-World final. The challenge and beauty of the course left a lasting impression on me, and I am eager to play there again in the future.
Michael: I also found the greens at Trump International Golf Club to be extremely fast and challenging, with speeds reaching 12.5. This added an extra level of difficulty to my game and pushed me to play my best.
Kurt & Michael: However, it wasn't just the golf courses that made an impact on us. The experiences outside of the courses were just as memorable. The yacht party and farewell dinner at the beach club Bla Bla were truly exceptional, adding an extra level of excitement and fun to the entire experience. Next time we will take your advice Martin, and book an extra night to recover from the farewell party!
We can't say enough how awesome it all was, and we are grateful for the opportunity to participate in such a fantastic event.
Only 4 wins and you are back at the World Final 2023. Can you handle the pressure?
Michael: The pressure doesn't scare us, as we have been preparing for this moment since we first started playing golf in 2020. We have been playing intensively and participating in as many tournaments as possible. This experience has helped us become used to the pressure and perform at our best when the stakes are high.
Kurt: Our partnership on the course is also a major asset in handling the pressure. We complement each other perfectly in difficult situations, and our experience playing together allows us to remain calm and focused. We may have a bad shoulder and sore knees, but once we're back in the race, we will push through and give it our all. We are confident in our ability to handle the pressure and are excited about the opportunity to compete in the World Final 2023.
