We have reached another milestone at the World Amateur Match Race - Now it gets serious for Season Start 1. The playoff will begin on August 7th.

As the tournament director of the World Amateur Match Race and the CEO behind Happy Tech Group, who supplies the software, I am very proud of my team and the thousands of players who joined the World Amateur Match Race - Season Start 1.

There have been thousands of matches plaid in the last three months, and everything has gone smoothly.

It indicates that the digital scorecard is user-friendly (we will continue to improve), the game format is fun, and the games are not predictable.

There is no doubt that the excitement has increased, with the playoffs starting in the Round of 16. Many teams have struggled worldwide to reach this stage, and now they are only 4 matches away from a paid trip to the international Final in Dubai in November 2022.

Along the current playoff, we are still open for registrations for the World Amateur Match Race - Season Start 2, which is for selected countries like Argentina, Australia, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, and Thailand and southern parts of the US. JONAS JORANGER LARSEN – WON A TRIP TO DUBAI INTERVIEWED BY MARTIN JENSEN

As you may remember from our Tournament Magazine's March issue, Jonas from the Losby Golf Club in Norway won our contest for the most teams referred to the World Amateur Match Race 2022.

He received a free trip to the international final in Dubai in November 2022 as thanks for his efforts.

We've reached out to Jonas to ask if he'll go to Dubai for the Final with his golf buddy Stian Storrvik or by himself. The two enthusiastic golfers from Norway are still in the competition and one step away from playing in the Final in Dubai.

Talking to Jonas is always interesting, so I questioned him on a few topics.

Jonas, how has the tournament been for you and Stian so far?

We are happy thus far. We won the group finals and will now compete in the regional playoff in Norway.

We have met fantastic people on the other teams.

On the other teams, we have made some wonderful friends.

I'm very glad we decided to go on this journey.

Stian deserves kudos for carrying me during the final round!

Did you have any issues with the scorecard?

I think the answer before speaks for itself. Seamless and easy to use, no bugs so far.

This is your team's first year playing the tournament. Can you recommend it to other golf players?

I would encourage other golfers to sign up for a tournament like this. You get the chance to pursue your passion while taking part in competition, spending time with friends, and meeting new people who share your enthusiasm.

Additionally, I get to prioritize prime-time golf once a month, which is unusual for me because I live with a 2-year-old.

How do you feel about the tournament concept and its technology?

As team captain, I have been lucky to use the web application to communicate, organize and score. In my experience, it has been seamless, logical and easy to use, and it's just a natural extension of a quality tournament concept.

Do you think the tournament fee of $250 per team is a fair price?

I think the entry cost is reasonable given a chance to win a dream trip to play some of the world's top golf courses.

In my opinion, only someone rational and noncompetitive would argue that this price isn't fair.

Fortunately, I enjoy it since I'm competitive and emotional.

Will you and Stian sign-up for the World Padel Race?

Unfortunately, skiing has always been my favourite sport. And with the same fate as many other skiers, I do not have any knees that can withstand Padel. However, it's fascinating that you can adapt and scale the idea for various sports.

Did you look into the prospectus for the investment packages offered by Happy Tech Group?

I sure did. I'm not in the position to give other advice on their financial investments, but on a top note, I will say it's interesting. It is impressive that a company can manage registration, payments, communication, and follow-ups for a global event without being local.

Furthermore, the software that makes it possible is well done. For me, it's more about the potential reach, scale of sports and the concept that can be built within the content and monetising. I went to the homepage of Happy Tech Group and downloaded an Investment presentation to read more - my advice is to start there.

We see you as a young man with a lot of energy and a good mindset. What do you do for a living, and do you believe that being positive helps you when you're playing golf?

I'm glad to hear that! I co-founded a marketing agency in 2017 that I recently sold and currently work as a consultant for business analysts.

I've always been on the lookout for new people who have positive energy. And if my golf is influenced?

Some of my regular players would undoubtedly agree that one of my advantages is NOT allowing a poor shot to ruin the round.

On the other hand, there are instances when people want to be angry about golf, which is tough when you have a happy Jonas nearby who only smiles and laughs.

PS: I have occasionally thrown my putter, hahaha.

Please tell me a bit about your team.

Rune replies: I play golf with my teammate Thomas in the Hjortespring Golfklub in Ballerup, Denmark, a suburb of Copenhagen. Thomas has an 8.0 handicap, whilst I have a 10.6. We've been using this hcp for a while, and we're hoping it will be sufficient to requalify for the Dubai Final in 2022. We would love to replay the Dubai final since this is the best-golfing experience we have ever participated in.

Thomas replies: Rune and I have been close friends in private for a long time, so playing golf and travelling to the Dubai final together is the ideal situation for us.

The final in Dubai, was it the experience you expected?

Rune replies: As soon as we landed at the airport in Dubai, we were excited about the event. We were picked up in a luxurious car by the tournament administration, welcomed with large name signs, and checked into a five-star luxury hotel. Aside from getting to play on some of the top golf courses in the world, all the surprises kept coming for days.

Since it was the best experience, we want to qualify again this year!

What did the biggest impact on you at the final in Dubai in 2021?

Thomas replies: The fact that we received such a fantastic prize—a fully paid trip to the finals in Dubai—had the largest impact on us. The entire setup impacted me after we reached Dubai. World Amateur Match Race said all the time, “we will treat you like the Pro”.....we felt like we were Pro. Rune replies: It is challenging only to mention one thing which made a massive impression on me. Yet again, I would say to play such great courses in Dubai and with the opportunity to win insane hole-in-one prizes…not only at one hole but one four par 3 holes on each golf course!

Denmark is a small country. Did you have to travel far to play a match, or was it primary locally?

Rune replies: Not at all, no. Martin, as you know, we Danes consider 100 km to be a significant distance in little Denmark. Still, with the small clusters of local groups, it is manageable - especially when the prize is a fully paid trip to Dubai!

Only 4 games and you are in Dubai Final 2022, are you ready?

Rune replies: Thomas and I are ready to play the playoff. We have been practising like crazy since we know the other teams in the playoffs are also excellent and eager to get to Dubai.

Thomas replies: Martin, keep the drink cool while you wait for us. We are confident that we will win the following four matches and meet you at the final in Dubai.

What do you like most about the tournament concept?

Thomas replies: It is a brilliant tournament concept since you start playing locally and get the opportunity to meet other players. I think it is great fun to play different courses. The “loser bracket” concept gives all teams a second chance to qualify for the final in Dubai. Rune and I enjoyed that opportunity since we won one of the regional “loser bracket” finals in Denmark.

We also favour the idea of the two free reserve players, who can help a team to play a match if needed.

Rune replies: Meeting people from various nationalities at the final in Dubai appeals to me. Although some of us have low handicaps and others have high handicaps, we all enjoy playing golf and have the opportunity to take home the winning trophy.

What's not to like about a tournament like the World Amateur Match Race that combines the best parts of mingling with your teammates and fellow golfers, the desire to win the tournament, making new friends all over the world, AND enjoying this gorgeous final venue in Dubai?

The World Amateur Match Race final is currently being prepared for!

The planning for the Dubai Final Season 1 - 2022 essentially began when we ended the final last year. The final, where golfers from all over the world will fly in and have the experience of a lifetime, is just 4 months away.

Due to the World Cup in Football being held in our neighbouring country Qatar this year, the preparations got underway much earlier.

The World Cup will take place from November 18 until December 21, while the World Amateur Match Race Final will take place from November 26 until December 1.

Many fans of the World Cup will reside in Dubai and go back and forth to Qatar due to the intense interest in the event. Dubai is used to such "pressure" since many significant events are held in Dubai, lately the World Expo 2020.

We are grateful that we could move quickly and reserve a lovely hotel conveniently close to all of the major golf courses.

The finalists can be assured that we are working on something even greater this year, but this was just a sneak peek into the preparations.

We have high hopes for the number of participants from the southern US states of Florida, California, Texas, and Arizona for Season Start 2.

he southern parts of the US, with the states of Florida, California, Texas and Arizona, have significant golf courses where many golfers enjoy this fantastic game.

In the state of Florida, we see tight clusters with teams from Orlando, Tampa and Miami, as well as the entire westatand coast.

In the state of Texas, we see dense clusters of teams, primarily in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

The state of Arizona is a tight cluster of teams around Phoenix and Tucson, and in the state of California, there are dense clusters of teams around San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.

The golfers from Mexico love our tournament as well, where we see a tight clusters with teams from Mexico City.

South Africa has our tightest cluster of teams ever in Johannesburg.

In Asia, Malaysia and Thailand are showing particularly strong interest in signing up.

Malaysia surpassed New Zealand in sign-ups this month, and we can see tight groups of teams in the area of Kuala Lumpur.

In Thailand, teams are grouped closely together around Bangkok.

These regional registrations will guarantee the teams' participation in small regional group races and reduce journey time.

The top five nations are included based on the number of registrations as of Season Start 1, Australia and New Zealand. Even teams still competing in Season Start 1 are signing up for Season Start 2!

In Australia, there are tight clusters of teams in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, and Adelaide and Perth on the other side. In New Zealand, we see tight clusters of teams around Auckland.

If you cannot play all the matches during the World Amateur Match Race, do not worry; we got a solution for you and your team! Each team has the right to use two reserve players, and you may only use the same players. These reserves can complement the team if needed throughout the competition.

Using up to two reserve players during the competition gives the team the necessary flexibility in case of injury, work, vacation, etc.

In the June issue of Tournament Magazine, we presented the World Padel Race.

Happy Tech Group specializes in locally competitive tournament concepts, where the grand final is held in Dubai. Due to the enormous interest in Padel worldwide, it is obvious that we have started the World Padel Race.

W

orld Padel Race opened for sign-ups in mid-June, and instantly we saw a massive interest in the tournament. Padel Tennis is a "traditional" sport in many Latin American countries like Argentina, Chile and Mexico.

In Spain and Portugal, it has been played for more than 20 years.

Padel is still a relatively new sport in the rest of Europe, but it has taken off in Scandinavia, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

We are always very excited to see the interest in a sports concept in each country. Every nation differs in terms of culture, demographics, purchasing power, etc.

Team Sign-ups World Padel Race

This time, the interest from Mexico and Portugal has positively surprised us.

We observe significant interest in the competition from Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, and Switzerland in central Europe; these nations are familiar to us through the World Amateur Match Race.

Denmark and Norway are the two "upcoming" Padel nations with the highest number of registrations in northern Europe. At the same time, Sweden is lagging slightly.

We have regular conversations with Padel players worldwide, which gives us insight into new Padel nations like India, the Philippines, and Bulgaria.

We believe we should all keep an eye on emerging Padel nations like the USA, Canada, and Australia while also keeping in mind the Middle East, where the UAE and Qatar are two outstanding Padel nations.

Lastly, we stress the importance of signing up for the inaugural World Padel Race for all amateur players. We are already generating local groups worldwide due to a massive interest in signing up and paying to secure participation in the tournament.
