Our team has worked tirelessly to bring you amazing new adventures, whether out West or throughout beautiful Quebec. For instance, have you ever considered a vacation in the Chic-Choc Mountains? This breathtaking part of the Gaspésie region is reminiscent of alpine hikes in the Rockies. To sweeten the deal, the Ministère du Tourisme is subsidizing 25% of the cost of packages to Quebec destinations this year, making them more accessible than ever before. Of course, there’s also the rest of Canada for you to explore—the doors to western Canada are still wide open to those of us here in the east. Plus, should international borders eventually open up, we are always eager and ready to offer you any skiing destination your heart desires!

In addition to all this, we have worked with our suppliers to provide you with ultraflexible policies so you can book your vacation with complete peace of mind. All you need to focus on really, is choosing where you want to hit the slopes. With so many options in Canada’s vast playground, the skiing possibilities are seemingly endless! On a final note, keep in mind that booking early is especially important this year since several resorts will be restricting the number of skiers and snowboarders on the slopes, and high demand for local tourism means availabilities will be more limited than ever. So, don’t wait—reserve your vacation today!

Enjoy the season, and happy skiing!

A

beautiful mountain town, Banff is the ultimate ski destination for that first trip out West. And, despite what you might think, you really don’t have to be a pro to hit the slopes here. There’s something for every skier, whether you go to Sunshine, Lake Louise or Mount Norquay. To By Lydiane autour du monde, date, I still haven’t managed to pick a favourite Special Contributor among these three fantastic resorts. Each of them is special in its own way. On one particular trip there, the destination reps helped my group quickly discover each mountain’s hidden treasures, allowing us to lay down backto-back fresh tracks. Top it all off with awe-inspiring views of the Rockies and endless mounds of fresh snow, and you’ve got a ski vacation you’ll be dreaming of long after it’s over! If all of this wasn’t already enough, Banff also offers a wide variety of restaurants, bars, spas, shops and more. So, in addition to enjoying phenomenal skiing conditions, you can treat yourself to some amazing meals and party until the wee hours of the morning (if you are so inclined)! Taking a day off from skiing just to explore the area is truly worth considering when you’re in Banff. Simply walking the streets (as the occasional elk crosses your path!) is an absolute joy. Of course, you can also take a dip in the hot springs or ride the gondola up to the top of Sulphur Mountain, where you can savour an absolutely unforgettable meal! There’s just so much to do, you might even forget that you came here for the skiing!

hen it comes to skiing preferences, everything is a matter of personal taste. Some people like perfectly groomed trails while others have a penchant for the solitude of off-piste trails. Then there are those who want to ensure they have easy access to all of the facilities. Thankfully, the By Alain Chiasson, Group Leader Whistler and Blackcomb experience offers all of this, and more. From the moment you arrive, a short stroll through the village will allow you to discover the diversity of its restaurants and shops. Everything is within easy reach, and there's even a movie theater! Since it was acquired by Vail Resorts in 2018, a whopping $66 million has been invested in lifts alone. The resort now welcomes even more people and is able to get them on the slopes even faster, right down to the lower limits of the alpine areas. The Whistler and Blackcomb glaciers are absolutely legendary. If your legs are strong enough, you can venture from the summit all the way down to the base of the village in a single run. With trails for every

You can also hop on the PEAK 2 PEAK gondola, which will take you from one mountain to another in no time flat—some of the cabins even have a glass floor! In addition to its fabulous ski options, Whistler features five 5 snowparks with over 150 modules and crazy-steep jumps! Whistler is far from being your average ski experience. It’s got everything you’re looking for in a ski vacation out West. I promise it’ll be as thrilling and memorable as you’d expect. That’s personally why I go back every single winter. Oh, and did I mention that Whistler also has heliskiing? You know what they say, go big or go home!

AN ABSOLUTE MUST!

Take advantage of an amazing added value of a Fresh Tracks ticket to use on the morning of your choice. This option allows the first 650 skiers that line up at the gondola to board before the resort opens. Once at the top, these early risers get to enjoy a hearty breakfast at the majestic Roundhouse Lodge. Starting at 7:15 a.m., the first skiers are given access to the Whistler Gondola side of the mountain. It’s really important to get there early—you don’t want to be the last in line; otherwise, you might not have time to do everything. Be ready when the patrollers lower the rope to provide access to the mountain. You’ll get to ski on freshly groomed trails of the most impeccable corduroy.

One of the resort’s latest investments include a triple lift that gives skiers access to a whole extra peak in the magnificent Grey Mountain sector. This new lift was indeed a priority for the resort and is sure to help ease congestion on powder days. Thanks to this addition, Red now ranks among the top 10 biggest ski areas in North America. Among Red’s four peaks, you will find Mount Kirkup, where you can access the cat-skiing sector for a mere $10 per run. The highest peak, Granite, offers 360-degree descents from the top, featuring everything from steep chutes to mellow glades. From there, it’s just a quick jaunt up to Mount Roberts and its Hourglass Couloir. I promise it’s worth the detour.

hitewater Ski Resort is nestled in the famous area known as the Powder Highway. The name alone conjures up images of endless light, dry powder that is sure to leave you salivating!

A mere 20 minutes from the mountain is the charming (read: funky) village of Nelson, where local history meets entrepreneurial effervescence. As you stroll down Baker Street, in the heart of the village, you’ll be immersed in a perfect blend of heritage and modernity. While the Whitewater and Nelson combo doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that come with your typical Resort 2.0, I personally think it’s the ideal hub and certainly one of the friendliest most laid-back resorts around. By Philippe Marquis, Olympic champion and on-site rep in Vail

Once at the mountain, and in the company of the Gendronski rep (who’ll show you all of the resort’s hidden treasures), I suggest you head over

ocated less than an hour’s drive south of Kelowna, Big White is nestled in the Monashee Mountains and is the third largest ski area in British Columbia.

Our devoted destination rep, Charles By Alain Chiasson, Castonguay, has called this area home Group Leader for several years already and since earned a solid reputation for himself. Now in his fifth season with Gendron, Charles knows literally every nook and cranny of the mountain. From the moment you arrive, he will take you under his wing and fill you in on all the best spots to explore. Of the many spectacular attractions Big White has to offer, one of the most memorable is definitely its snow ghosts—these frozen creatures are actually high-altitude trees that have been covered with mounds of snow and almost instantly encased in ice due to the extreme cold temperatures. Being surrounded by these tall snowy figures as you carve your way down the slopes is a truly unique experience, and a photo op you don’t want to miss! So, make sure you bring your camera along (along with your biggest and brightest smile!).

CREATE YOUR CUSTOMIZED PACKAGE BY COMBINING YOUR CHOICE OF RESORTS. AVAILABLE ALL WINTER LONG, LET YOUR IMAGINATION GUIDE YOU! CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE! The concept of the ski safari is simple: make the most of your vacation by combining several resorts and keeping the logistics simple and By Marie efficient. Western Canada lends itself Duchesneau, Special Contributor well to this formula since there are a multitude of destinations within the same general area which, depending on the resorts you choose, can appeal to skiers of all kinds and all levels. This type of trip is particularly appealing if you’ve already visited the area and want to go back to your favourites, or if you’re in the mood for a road trip vacation where you can explore new places. It’s also a great option when traveling with family and friends who don’t necessarily all have the same ski level. On a typical ski safari, you might warm up your legs at Banff before hitting the powder and couloirs at Kicking Horse. Or, you could start out by skiing at Big White and SilverStar in Kelowna before Geoff Holman

PREPARING FOR YOUR TRIP TIPS AND TRICKS TO ENJOY IT TO THE FULLEST! A few months before • Booking: If you plan on staying at a ski lodge, you have to reserve several months ahead of time, especially if you are vacationing with a group or hoping for specific dates. • Get the training you need: Off-piste skiing can be risky, and you can never learn too much about avalanches or staying safe on this kind of terrain. • Get your body ready: If you really want to make the most of your off-piste skiing days, you’ll want to be physically prepared and perhaps even go skiing for a couple of days in a row beforehand, especially if you plan on skiing in high altitude terrain or if you have to carry your skis to the top.

A few weeks before • Will you need a local guide, any sort of authorizations or permits, or extra equipment of any kind? Now’s the time to think about it. • Check your insurance coverage: you might need additional coverage since standard policies don’t typically cover off-piste skiing accidents.

A few days before

PREPARING FOR A SKI VACATION?

• If the equipment you need (fat skis, ARVA, beacon, shovel…) is provided for you at your destination, great! If not, make sure you have all of the right gear and try everything on before you go. You’ll want to get comfortable wearing your backpack, climbing skins, bindings, etc.

How fun!

• When packing your bags, keep the weather and brightness in mind. You also need to remember that it can be quite windy at the top of the mountain, and that you’ll be dealing with snow squalls when the helicopter takes off and lands. If possible, dress in layers, opt for clothing with side openings and zippers, and always carry a neck warmer. You’ll also want to take different ski goggle lenses along so you can adapt to different conditions.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind when preparing for your ski vacation.

Ready, set, go!

Taking your trip up a notch by adding some cat-skiing, heliskiing or alpine hiking? Even better!

Sherri Harkin

• An increasing number of airline carriers prohibit passengers from carrying batteries in their checked luggage. Make sure you keep the batteries for your ARVA or GoPro in your carry-on bags, but don’t forget to put them back in your devices before you hit the slopes!

Once you arrive

Ian Houghton

Benoit Bisson CHOK IMAGES

• If you aren’t accustomed to skiing at high altitudes, take it slow on the first day. Remember to breathe properly and, ideally, drink less alcohol and coffee, and increase your water intake. • Above all, have a great time!

Heliskiing We can never say it enough—heliskiing is an absolute dream come true. While in the past it may not have always been easily accessible, in recent years, heliskiing has changed both in terms of options and level of difficulty required. It’s also much more affordable than you might think, so why not go for it? As our contributor Marie Duchesneau puts it, skiers often believe that heliskiing is reserved for the elite and that you pretty much have to be a pro athlete to access this kind of terrain. However, the truth is, that heliskiing has adapted to different needs, now making it an option almost any experienced skier can consider. Two types of heliskiing packages are available to you: a multi-day heliskiing package, or a one-day package, which can easily be added to a traditional in-resort package. All intermediate and expert skiers are welcome.

Laurence Rémillard

M

ention Kicking Horse and the unbelievable couloirs of this fabulous resort are sure to be the first thing that comes to mind. In fact, no other place has this many burly alpine couloirs packed so By Alain Bisson, Journalist closely together! Kicking Horse has over 85 of them on both sides of Redemption Ridge, CPR Ridge and T1 South Ridge as well as on the eastern side of T2 North Ridge and my favourite in the Whitewall part of the Feuz Bowl.

PROUD TO REPRESENT!

As a proud local representative of Gendronski, I have the privilege of being the one who welcomes Quebec skiers to Kicking Horse Mountain in Golden. Although Kicking has been my playground for twelve years now and I know every last inch of this mountain, I still get excited every time I hop off the gondola where new discoveries are often around the corner. I’m fairly generous by nature, so I’m always eager to share my in-depth knowledge of the mountains. I can accompany groups of skiers on their first day to help get acquainted with the ski area. In my opinion, the best option for skiers is to book my services on their first day at the mountain. That way, I can give them as much information as possible about the trails best suited to their level, warn them about the riskiest areas, tell them about the safety measures, share the most beautiful views of the mountain and help them find their way around. Banking on my sound advice, the skiers that I introduce to the mountain are more comfortable venturing out, which means they can make the absolute most of their stay (which I can guarantee they end up thinking is too short!).

Once almost exclusively reserved for seasoned skiers, the resort now has some tamer options in the Crystal Bowl, which appeals to the less experienced and gives them the opportunity to climb to the top for a snack at Eagle's Eye—Canada's highest elevated restaurant! Kicking Horse also boasts a very small but wonderfully charming village at the foot of the slopes offering a wide range of accommodations. In addition to this, the resort is located less than 15 kilometres from downtown Golden, where you’ll find even more excellent places to eat and sleep.

I also happen to be an endless source of information on après-ski activities. Want to know where to get the best cup of coffee, the tastiest nachos, or where to enjoy a drink? I’ve got the answers to all of these questions, and many more! I can’t wait to see you at Kicking Horse!

THE ADDED VALUE OF SMALLER INDEPENDENT RESORTS

being in the best location results in record crowds at the lifts and restaurants for the lucky resort; however, this also takes a significant toll on customer experience. Fortunately, there are still independent ski resorts with a unique local flair that never fail to provide their guests with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Resorts such as Whitewater, Big White, SilverStar, Panorama, Castle and Sun Peaks satisfy thousands of skiers annually, without compromising on the quality of their product. Are these resorts less affordable? Absolutely not! For one, they don’t try to drastically increase their share of the profit when it comes to things like mountain restaurants and day tickets, like the big conglomerates do. Plus, independent resorts tend to have a close relationship with their resident clientele, listening attentively to their

Cheaper than regular season passes, multi-resort passes allow you to ski at a multitude of destinations under the same banner, without having to buy a ticket when By Jean-Luc you get to the resort. This sales Brassard, technique also encourages users to Special Contributor rent an apartment, condo or hotel room that belongs to the same group, which is much more lucrative than simply selling a ski pass. Some of the potential shortcomings of this approach are, however, starting to become apparent. For example, an area that experiences a snow-rich winter inevitably attracts tons of pass holders while its sister resorts are doomed to suffer a quieter season. The advantage of

feedback, which helps them avoid frustrations that can also affect visitors. Forcing yourself to visit a destination just to take advantage of a multi-resort pass isn’t necessarily a bad idea, but it definitely shouldn’t be the ultimate goal. Keep in mind that independent resorts are laid-back, welcoming and always eager to keep visitors happy—all of which will help ensure you won’t be disappointed. In fact, we have no doubt you’ll be thrilled with your visit!

Heliskiing is, without a doubt, the ultimate ski experience. It goes without saying that riding a helicopter up to the highest peaks only to indulge every skier’s fantasy by carving large arcs down endless trails of immaculate virgin snow is indeed one of the most unforgettable experiences any skier will have. That being said, cat-skiing is an excellent alternative. Indeed, it is just as thrilling to indulge in heaps of virgin snow as you weave down trails from mountain peaks which, although a little lower in altitude, are equally as breathtaking.

MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK

A By Marc Boucher and Sylvie Desmarais, Groups Leaders

s the second largest ski area in Canada, Sun Peaks has so much to offer its visitors: three mountains, trails for skiers of every level, bowls, snow parks, abundant snowfall, impeccable trail grooming, short lift lines and, of course, a whole range of activities. Several times a week, Sun Peaks also provides you with the opportunity to enjoy a few runs and snap a photo of yourself with Olympic Champion Nancy Greene.

The vibe of the slopeside village is reminiscent of many European ski towns, making it the perfect place for a mid-day break. Then, when it’s time for some après-ski fun, you can gather at one of the bars for a happy hour drink, or two! And, given the wide range of dining options to choose from, chances are you’ll linger a little longer and enjoy a fabulous meal among friends (even if most hotel

f, like me, your idea of the perfect ski vacation includes a little heliskiing, fabulous powder, easy-access off-piste descents, long groomers, relatively stable weather, slopeside accommodations, big heated pools, great coffee, local beers and gourmet menus, then Panorama is the By Paul Dubrûle, Group Sales place to be! It’s one of the few resorts that Director can claim to give you access to all of these amazing advantages. Although long considered as one of the top family ski destinations, Panorama clearly benefited from the addition of Taynton bowl, which gave the resort a little extra oomph, and made it even more multidisciplinary. In fact, Panorama is continually growing and revamping to keep up with industry trends. This year alone, the resort added 4 new trails and 2 new restaurants in town. Along with these great new additions, you definitely want to check out the classics, including the Cliffhanger Restaurant, where the view is as spectacular as the menu. id you know that when it comes to the quantity and quality of snow, the Gaspésie region has just as much to offer as the Rockies… and even the Alps?

Every winter, I make sure I have the time to enjoy a ski getaway in the Chic-Choc Mountains— mostly because Gaspésie never disappoints when it comes to providing fresh and abundant powder! Get ready for some wild tree-lined trails and vertical drops that are sure to put your skills to the test. I personally would never venture off in these mountains without an avalanche expert and a guide, and that’s precisely why this group vacation is so perfect. You’ll be led by a seasoned guide, who will show you which trails to take based on your level, not to mention provide basic training on avalanche risks—all to ensure that your ski adventure is nothing but pure enjoyment! My vacations here have always lived up to the promise. I don’t know if it’s the Gaspésie area, the group spirit, the spectacular scenery, the charming and comfy Gîte du Mont-Albert, the quality of the skiing or even the amazing hot chocolate that makes this destination so special, but I do know one thing for sure—it will always keep me coming back!

TREMBLANT To enjoy a dazzling view of the Laurentians and ski on a world-renowned mountain, there’s no better place than Tremblant. Equipped with a powerful snowmaking system, Tremblant’s four distinct slopes offer a wide range of well-groomed trails for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Even the most experienced By Marc are sure to find what they're looking for. In fact, the Boucher & Sylvie Desmarais, regular addition of glade runs has kept things fun and Group Leaders fresh over the years. Plus, by continually pouring hard work and money into modernizing its facilities—with new lifts, for example—Tremblant aims to provide a ski experience that keeps on getting better and better. Of course, a little après-ski fun is always a great way to finish off the day here. It’s a real treat to browse through the shops and linger at one of the many bars and restaurants

Less than an hour’s drive from Montreal, Les Sommets offers unbeatable ski fun for everyone. Morin-Heights’ understated charm, Olympia’s family-friendly terrain, Mount Gabriel’s north and south flanks, and the connectivity between Saint-Sauveur and Avila—each mountain has its own unique appeal. Les Sommets is also focused on being the perfect place to learn how to ride or ski as well as for those who are training or competing. Plus, early snowmaking and trail maintenance make Saint-Sauveur the mountain with the longest season in Quebec. Through the years, Les Sommets has also focused on keeping things fresh and modern. A prime example is the learning area at Mont Avila, which provides a safe and innovative experience through its streamlined course. Another modern addition: in 2019, Saint-Sauveur inaugurated its heated detachable six-person chair. And, if all of that wasn’t already enough, Les Sommets is also renowned for its incredible après-ski vibe, thanks to its many bars, its restaurant and festive evenings, not to mention Martin Matte's Beaux 4 heures, which the Gendron ski team is proud to join forces with every year.

Quebec QUEBEC’S AMAZING DESTINATIONS

Le Massif de Charlevoix

T

here’s no doubt about it—Quebec skiers are blessed to have tons of extraordinary ski resorts to choose from, right in their own back yard!

MONT-SAINTE-ANNE

Two faces to explore, groomed trails that are By Alain Bisson, perfect for the family, black runs you can tear Journalist up down the fall line at full speed: Mont-SainteAnne offers all of this, and so much more! Among the many great runs this resort has to offer, my personal favourite is definitely La Crête. And, keep in mind, with Le Massif just a hop, skip and jump away, it’s easy to enjoy two great resorts in a single getaway.

LE MASSIF Breathtaking views! Crazy vertical drop! Amazing food! Tons of aprèsski fun! This resort has lots for you to do and see. The Mont à Liguori trail is an experience in itself, and that’s without even mentioning the striking views of the River that are sure to blow your mind from every angle!

50

GENDRONSKI • 2020 | 2021

MONT GRAND-FONDS Even when it doesn’t snow anywhere else in Quebec, it seems like there’s always some of the white stuff at Mont Grand-Fonds. Tucked away on the Lynx side of this resort are glorious pockets of snow that stay fresh for days! As an added bonus, Mont Grand-Fonds has a friendly, laid-back vibe that is perfect for families.

THE MASSIF DU SUD Having the highest peak of any Quebec resort (an astounding 915 metres!) clearly has lots of advantages—among them, absolutely incredible snow. With glades making up close to half of the Massif du Sud’s 226 acres, this powder paradise is sure to please.

See our packages on page 43

SUTTON I don’t think there’s anyone out there who hasn’t skied Mont Sutton. That being said, if you happen to be part of the small minority of people who’ve never been, it’s definitely high time you checked out this revered Eastern Townships By Alain Bisson, mountain. And even if you’re already Journalist well acquainted with Sutton, you’re no doubt overdue for another visit! There is no better place in Quebec to hit the slopes after a massive snowfall. You won’t find any straight or level boulevards here, no state-of-the-art lifts—just steep weaving slopes, unforgettable glades and lifts that leave you just enough time to catch your breath in between runs. Mont Sutton is the antithesis of big, industrial resorts. It has remained true to itself and to its dedicated regulars who wouldn’t change good old Chair 5 for anything in the world, not even the most sophisticated detachable sixperson lift. Although, now that you mention it… The newest glade runs—Extase and Seduction—provide a real challenge and wind their way through the forest and around the mountain. It’s quite the ride!

Salt Lake City UTAH

SO MUCH TO LOVE

Tony Harrington

D By Paul Dubrûle, Group Sales Director

id you know that I started my career at Gendron Travel working as a destination rep in Salt Lake City? In 1988 and 1989, along with my good friend Normand Perrier, I was on skis almost every day, accompanying clients to one of the 10 resorts in the region. At that time, Utah was still relatively unknown to Quebec skiers, but I firmly believe that Gendron Travel and our on-site team helped contribute to its popularity.

Not only does this destination offer competitive prices given that most of the lodging is in town, but you can also ski on a new mountain every day. Over the years, we’ve decided to increasingly focus our energy on Alta, Snowbird, Brighton and Solitude. Alta is great since it’s one of the few resorts that’s reserved only for skiers! However, the main attraction of skiing in this area is the quality of the snow (and the sheer amount of it!). I promise it’ll be among the most incredible snow you’ve experienced—and you’ll quickly understand why Utah's license plates read “Best snow on Earth”! The mix of trails, glades and proximity to the

rom the moment you open your eyes in the morning, ready to enjoy the most mind-blowing mountain experience, to the end of the day, when it’s time to wind down for a little après-ski relaxation by the fire, Vail’s perfect blend of luxury and intense skiing is sure to impress!

Vail is made up of three areas—Golden Peak, Vail Village and Lionshead—all connected at the base of the mountain. With an elevation of over 8,000 feet, Vail will literally take your breath away (altitude sickness is clearly something to keep in mind when you’re here)! Of course, you’ll also be dazzled by the lovely creek running alongside the quaint cobblestone streets, the splendid view of the Gore Range, and the fresh mountain air... not to mention the heated pedestrian streets that allow you to enjoy the village year-round. It’s got all the charm of a peaceful European village combined with world-renowned dining and shopping. After spending the winter partially discovering the mountain’s 5,317 acres of playground, 195 trails and 31 chairlifts, I still wanted more… and Vail never disappointed. I was always able to find new pockets of fresh snow and some good challenging runs... without ever having to worry about the crowds! Vail Mountain Resort

hen a friend of mine recently asked me to describe my experience at Jackson Hole, the first word that came to mind was WOW!

This simple word perfectly sums up how I feel about this mountain. After all, Jackson always provides a challenge that is guaranteed to put my skills to the test. And, talk about steep! It’s even got a couple of double blue diamond runs, which is something I’d never seen before Jackson Hole. You’ll definitely feel the pull of gravity on these wide groomers and trust me, you’ll need to control your speed otherwise these runs will take you down— fast! Jackson is also home to the celebrated Corbet’s Couloir, which is the perfect choice for adrenaline junkies. The best way to describe Jackson is a colossal hole that is just overflowing with snow. With 10 metres of snow every year, for the last 8 years, it’s easy to see why. Jackson Hole also happens to be a hip western ski town. Its wooden sidewalks, multiple saloons and rustic comfort food will leave you feeling like you’re in the Wild West. Adding to that “wild” feel is the nearby National Elk refuge where you can observe thousands of elk during the winter season. The best part? The airport is located just a few short kilometres from town. What more could you ask for?

nce you arrive at the Geneva airport (most likely after a direct flight), less than an hour of scenic highway separates you from a spectacular incursion into the high mountains.

After you’ve taken the time to settle in, a walk through the village is an absolute must. Lovely bistros and shops line the pedestrian avenues, surrounded by jagged peaks that seem to stretch up endlessly towards the sky. You’ll be aching to make your way to the summit! By Jean-Luc Brassard, Special Contributor

Although Chamonix is not a ski-in, ski-out resort, it’s easy to get from one sector to another by train or bus. The Brévent side is the gateway to this vast ski area. With a view directly onto Mont Blanc, Brévent is submersed in scenery so absolutely jaw-dropping, you’ll no doubt find yourself stopping countless times along the way, just to admire it. Interconnected with the Flégère area, Brévent is a favourite among skiers thanks to its fast lifts and long runs, which are perfect for everyone, regardless of level. Directly in front of Brévent is the Grands

Montets sector, tucked in under the Aiguille Verte peak, which allows for skiing at unbelievable altitudes. At the very bottom of the valley, the Tour sector, along the French-Swiss border, is flooded with sunshine most of the day. The often-forgotten detour towards Vallorcine allows for a wonderfully long descent to an unknown corner of the valley. On the complete opposite side, the Houches sector looks like a tiny speck in the shadow of the enormous giants towering around it. Don’t be fooled by appearances though: this sector includes a black run that serves as the signature World Cup run every two years and features a substantial vertical drop. It also happens to be the go-to area when bad weather prevents other sectors from opening.

And, last but not least, is the Aiguille du Midi peak. No visit to Chamonix would be complete without it. A gondola ride to this legendary summit leaves no one indifferent. For the ultimate experience, you’ll want to book a guide to accompany you during a descent of the incredible Vallée Blanche. It’s absolutely unforgettable! I personally love Chamonix so much that I got engaged there several years ago—guess that’s one extra reason I love going back so much!

hen I talk to people whom I’ve traveled with, it’s pretty clear that we’ve all followed a similar path when it comes to how our ski vacations have progressed over the years. Most of us start off with a few excursions in and around Quebec. Then, we make our way By Mario Daniel, Special Contributor across the border to test out a few resorts in New England before quickly moving on to the magnificent mountains of Western Canada.

After all this comes that final big leap—all the way to Europe! And that’s where things get a bit more complicated. After all, there’s quite a lot to choose from in this part of the world. Where to go? Which country, which area? To be honest, every destination has its own unique charm and attractions. So, today, let me focus on just one of these beautiful spots—3 Vallées.

I should start out by telling you that, even though I’ve visited 3 Vallées countless times, I’ve never been disappointed. It’s such an immense ski area that you’ll always find something new to discover. In fact, it’s the biggest ski area in the world! 3 Vallées features 7 interconnected resorts including Méribel, Brides-les-Bains, Les Menuires and Val Thorens. This means you get to ski in a variety of terrain, discover countless unique villages and, most importantly, choose exactly the

type of snow you’re in the mood for. Because the area is so colossal, you can enjoy a different quantity and quality of snow depending on the resort you go to. And that’s just the beginning! There are also the wonderful mountain inns, where you can indulge is some tasty Savoyard dishes, the fabulous Folies Douces Hotel, the 165 lifts, and so much more! If you’re thinking of heading to Europe for your next ski vacation, Chamonix is definitely an option that should be at the top of your list. You can bet I’ll be heading back the second I get the chance!

Tignes and Val d'Isère FRANCE

A LEGENDARY DUO

Photo DAM - Einden

L By Marc Boucher & Sylvie Desmarais, Group Leaders

ocated in the Savoie region, the vast Tignes and Val d'Isère ski area—also known as Espace Killy—is a big part of the reason the French Alps are so renown. As long as you keep a map of this area handy, it’s easy enough to find your way around the colossal playground.

Across the 300 kilometres of trails, you’ll discover amazing observation areas such as Grande Motte, the Bellevarde Rock and Aiguille Percée. For a unique and breathtaking experience, hop on the Lessières chairlift. Once you make your way past the two peaks, you’ll literally feel like you’re floating on air! As far as accommodations go, any of the quaint nearby hamlets is a good option and each is unique its own way. No matter which you choose, you’ll enjoy the friendly, laidback atmosphere that prevails. Val d'Isère is recognized for its charm and authenticity, delightful stone houses and numerous amenities. Tignes, in the Val Claret sector, is my personal favourite, mostly because it provides excellent value for the money and is strategically located at the heart of the ski area and near the lifts. Whether you opt to make Tignes your vacation base or prefer to just check it out between two runs, make sure you take advantage of the terraces and restaurants, where you can indulge in delectable regional specialties. Few destinations offer visitors so many advantages.

Hakuba Valley JAPAN

WORLDS APART FROM THE REST

I By Paul Dubrûle, Group Sales Director

n the last few years, Japan has become quite a popular destination among Quebec skiers. Its legendary powder snow, onsens, exotic appeal, fabulous cuisine and big modern cities are just a few of the reasons to visit. Not to mention the direct Montreal-Tokyo flights and Gendron’s amazing destination rep.

To make things even better, we’ve recently revamped our vacation options for Hakuba, a valley comprised of about ten resorts. Most importantly, our accommodations are now mainly in Happo-one, at the heart of the valley. This new location means you’ll have more flexibility to travel between resorts and be able to access more services. Should you feel like exploring the area even further, I recommend hiring a guide from Evergreen to accompany you both at the resort and during your alpine touring adventures.

Whatever you do, remember to pack your fat skis! And you might even consider bringing a snorkel along—who knows, it might come in handy in all that powder snow!

Marc-André Pelletier

NISEKO

OVER ONE METRE OF SNOW EVERY WEEK… AND THAT’S JUST THE BEGINNING! For me, a trip to Niseko is much more than a simple ski trip—much more than the insane amount of snow accumulation, much more than the incredibly light, fluffy powder, and much more than the irresistible lure of the Japanese birch forests beckoning you to ski through them. By Marc-André Pelletier, Groups Sales Representative

A trip to Niseko is made up of different components that create a unique experience! It’s about discovering the legendary Japanese culture, tasting the cuisine in Hokkaido (reputed to be the very best in Japan), relaxing in the onsens (hot springs) after a full day of skiing, and enjoying unspoiled nature, including the most awe-inspiring views of the prestigious Yotei volcano. In the words of an Olympic moguls legend: “Whatever the reason you want to visit Japan, the moment you get a taste of Hokkaido's world-renowned snow and realize that you’re actually skiing in Japan, you’re sure to be overcome with joy!” - Jean-Luc Brassard 092:Kuni.Maruyama

Zermatt and Verbier SWITZERLAND

ALWAYS BREATHTAKING

Switzerland Tourism

A

h, Switzerland—a country of high snowy peaks and glaciers, where skiing is a both a tradition and a source of tremendous pride for its inhabitants!

The immense ski area of Zermatt happens By Caroline to be the highest ski destination in the Alps Samson, and can be enjoyed year-round. This very Group Leader famous resort is the absolute perfect place to admire the Matterhorn (that famous mountain on the Toblerone packaging). The slopes and village of Zermatt are also majestic, and positively photo worthy. Plus, from here, it’s easy to explore even further by hopping over to Cervinia, Italy (depending on the type of ski ticket you buy). Not too far from Zermatt is the 4 Valleys domain with the beautiful pedestrian village of Verbier and its varied terrain, which hosts the Freeride World Tour every winter. Switzerland is also home to St. Moritz, an Olympic city surrounded by a variety of resorts for you to explore: Corviglia, a resort dominated by the Piz Nair, where Erik Guay won the World Championships; Corvatsch, the highest resort in the area; and Diavolezza, with its glorious glacier, where you can enjoy a sublime 10-kilometre descent. Here, the winter is long, and the snow is abundant—sometimes even in April. Much like the watches it is reputed for, skiing is serious business in Switzerland and everything last detail counts. They do everything to ensure that things are orderly, clean, efficient and on time. Even the signposts are immaculately organized, much like the rack trains that will take you on a smooth ride up to the awe-inspiring peaks in the amazing land of raclette.

Val Gardena and Moena ITALY

UNDENIABLY PERFECT

C

onsidering the Dolomites for your next ski trip? Great choice!

By Jean-Luc Brassard, Special Contributor

This unique mountain range in northeastern Italy is exceptionally beautiful, as are the villages and valleys it shelters. No matter where you turn, it feels like you’re looking at a postcard!

Although much of this area was once part of Austria, it was later surrendered to the Italians during the First World War, hence the name South Tyrol. Competing with the 3 Valleys as the largest interconnected ski area, Dolomiti Superski is very different from its French counterpart since it consists primarily of weaving trails that are pleasantly smooth. The ski route that loops around the iconic Sella mountain range is an absolute must for those who enjoy groomed runs and spectacular scenery. The Val Gardena sector, for its part, is characterized by its modern lifts and the fabulous food on the slopes. Every dish here is simply exquisite—this is Italy, after all! If you happen to be both a foodie and a photo enthusiast, Baita Sofie, in the Seceda area, is where you’ll want to head. The mouth-watering delicacies and incredible

wine cellar are matched only by the magnificent views of the aptly named peak—none other than Furchetta (inspired by the Italian word for fork)! In Val di Fassa, you’ll find the elegant and historic village of Moena, which looks like it’s straight out of a fairy tale! The architecture and accommodations in this little village are truly in a class of their own. Right next door, the Alpe Lusia ski resort will satisfy your need for a good challenge as well as your introspective spirit. From the top of the mountain, the surrounding peaks of the Dolomites will remind you what a great decision you made choosing this destination. The biggest problem you’ll have is realizing that you can’t stay forever!

IMPRESSIONS OF TYROL

TVB St. Anton am Arlberg

D By Alexis de Gheldere, Outdoor Sports and Travel Journalist

uring his many travels, Paul Dubrûle, Gendron Travel’s Ski Sales Director, has visited more than his fair share of ski resorts. Among these, we could easily dedicate an entire chapter to Arlberg—the biggest ski resort in Austria, featuring 250 kilometres of trails connected to quaint Tyrolian villages that go by charming names such as Pettneu, Rauz and Stuben.

As can be expected from any globe-trotting skier, Paul is always itching to get his ski boots on his feet the minute he steps off the plane in Zurich—but alas, he must wait until the next morning before he can hit the slopes! On one particular trip, paul condo and his guide headed out for a day of skiing the minute the sun came up. They made their way through an off-piste sector to the most incredible high-altitude alpine area, surrounded by endless breathtaking views. The pair then headed over to check out the ruins of an ancient sheepfold, tucked into the hollow of a deep valley. Gazing upon the snow-capped peaks from where he had just emerged, Paul reflected on what he considered his best off-piste skiing experience… ever! After crowning off this most unforgettable day with some local sausage and beer, it became abundantly clear to Paul that he had finally discovered the third resort in the Holy European trinity, placing Arlberg alongside Val d’Isère (France) and Verbier (Switzerland). The only difference is the more extreme cultural differences. After his visit to Arlberg, Paul made his way over to Innsbruck, two-time host to the Olympic Games. A magnificent university town with an old-Europe feel, Innsbruck is replete with cafes, bars

74

and wide pedestrian avenues. Innsbruck has some key things one looks for in a ski holiday: affordable accommodations and an efficient public transit system that can get you to a half-dozen top ski resorts in about 45 minutes. Needless to say, Innsbruck has also earned a spot on Paul’s list of favourites.

Chile VALLE NEVADO FARELLONES PORTILLO

SKIING AT THE OTHER END OF THE WORLD

I By Alexis de Gheldere, Outdoor Sports and Travel Journalist

t seems like you’ve been literally everywhere. You know Western North America like the back of your hand. Japanese and European Alps? Been there, done that. You’ve even stretched out your ski seasons from November to May on more than one occasion. Is there anything left for you to discover? Well, my friend, look no further. We’ve got the answer you’ve been looking for… and it’s waiting for you in Chile!

Are you the type who starts feeling a little down when summer hits? Do you start feeling a little melancholy as you mindlessly scrape the burnt fat off your BBQ under the hot July sun? Does an inexplicable tear slide down your cheek as you listen to the sound of your kids screaming in the pool? Take heart, my friend, skiing in the summertime is indeed very possible. All you have to do is make your way to the southern hemisphere, where the seasons are reversed. When it’s July and August here, it's January and February there. To make things even better, traveling to Chile is a piece of cake. All it takes is a short hop over to Toronto and a red-eye flight to Santiago, the capital of Chile. The Mediterranean climate in the valley might throw you off a bit, but fear not: once you lace up your boots and make your way to the summit of the Andes, the air gets thinner and the snow makes an appearance. All of the ski areas in this part of the world are located above the tree line. Groomed runs alternate with off-piste sectors, where fluffy white snow remains accessible for longer periods of time. Once you make it to the top of the lifts, you’ll be at 3,500 metres in altitude, at the heart of the Latin American continent—there’s

no better way to enjoy your favourite sport and immerse yourself in a completely new culture!

Lydiane autour du monde

The added value of a guide By Alain Chiasson, Group Leader

As you surely know, when it comes to travel planning and organization, Gendron Travel has been an innovative force for almost 38 years. The team includes over 50 group leaders specialized in skiing who, like you, are truly passionate about snow sports. Although they are not officially mountain guides, our destination reps provide real added value for your trips. Most of them have received personalized training at Collège April-Fortier and they are all seasoned skiers. All of our groupe leaders have had the chance to visit and familiarize themselves with the different destinations we offer. Needless to say, they are eager to share the ins and outs of the resorts they represent along with countless tips and tricks. As an added bonus, our guides always host a few group dinners and Happy Hour events which you are invited to attend, should you feel so inclined. They also take the time to ski with each of our guests during their stay. In short, their goal is to help you make the most of your vacation while they handle all the logistics. Despite the efforts made by your tour operator to take care of every last detail, it isn’t unusual

ACCOMPANIED DEPARTURES Whistler

for issues to arise when you travel— and that’s where your guide comes in. They will quickly and easily take care of any problem you encounter. Your guide’s knowledge of the trails is also an important asset. The advice and guidance you get is critical when deciding to venture out on your own. It’s this little something extra that personally made me loyal to Gendron Travel back when I was only a client (of course, I still enjoy this added bonus as an employee). Trust me, the best reward for your guide is watching you smile from ear to ear as you make your way down the slopes.

Please read these terms and conditions carefully and make sure that you understand them before making your reservation. We reserve the right to make changes after publication in order to correct errors and omissions, or for any other reason beyond our control. PRICE OF IKON PASS AND IKON BASE PASS Changes are subject to change at any time. Prices indicated on the gendronski.com/ikon page of our Web site shall prevail at all times. PACKAGE PRICES The rates published on Gendron Travel’s Web site and in Gendron Travel’s ski magazine are in Canadian dollars and are valid depending on availability at the time of reservation. Prices are “starting from” per person in double occupancy (unless otherwise indicated) in Canadian dollars, including GST and QST, and are valid on bookings made before the cut-off dates mentioned or before December 1st, 2020. Prices include compact car (double occ.) or minivan (quad. occ.) rental, taxes and surcharges included. Prices also include the financial protection provided by the Compensation Fund for Customers of Travel Agents Flights, which Quebec residents are required to pay. Flights included in our advertised packages are in Economy class. Luggage fees are not included as part of our packages. Fees may vary depending on airline and must be paid at the airport. Applicable insurance, taxes and surcharges on car rental are not included and must be paid on site. RESERVATIONS/SECURITY DEPOSIT A minimum security deposit of 10% (not including insurance) is required upon reservation. For payments made by cheque, no reservation will be confirmed until the cheque has cleared and we have received the full deposit (a fee of $15 plus taxes will be applied for not-sufficient-funds cheques). Please note that cheques will not be accepted in the case of reservations for departures taking place within 30 days or less. To guarantee the price of your flight, you must pay the air travel portion in full upon reservation. For certain products, such as heliskiing (full payment required when booking), packages for Chile, Colorado (Aspen) or for a stay at Club Med, a 50% deposit could be required when booking (airline tickets not included). Please note that required deposits are subject to change and may fluctuate for certain suppliers (this is outside of Gendron Travel’s control). Details on the deposits required will be provided to you by your consultant upon reservation. FINAL PAYMENT The balance of the payment must be received at least 45 days before your departure date, otherwise Gendron Travel reserves the right to cancel your reservation without prior notice and without any possible legal recourse, and will retain a cancellation fee. For reservations made 45 days or less before the departure date, payment must be made in full at the time of reservation. For Aspen, Colorado or any Club Med packages, final payment is due 60 days before the departure date. Heliskiing and cat-skiing packages must be paid in full upon reservation. For Chile, a 50% deposit on the land portion and full payment of the flights is required upon reservation. FLEXI-DEPOSIT: The Flexi-deposit option available with certain packages and offers the possibility of providing a minimum of 10% deposit per traveller as an initial deposit. This is subject to change or removal at any time by Gendron Travel. CANCELLATION FEES In the event of cancellation before final complete payment has been made, the deposit is refundable in the form of travel credits (only if your purchase includes the flexi-deposit option). Should you cancel after the final payment has been made, cancellation fees will be equal to the amount that suppliers and/ or partners invoice Gendron Travel according to the contracts that have been pre-negotiated and appear on your quote and/or purchase invoice. *Please be advised that the policies posted on the public Web sites of suppliers do not necessarily constitute the policies that have been pre-negotiated with Gendron Travel. Also, please note that in both of the abovementioned cancellation situations, Gendron Travel shall retain management fees of $100/person. These fees cannot be transferred or transformed into travel credits in the event of a cancellation. COVID POLICY Should any of the suppliers included in a package you have purchased with us be forced to close their facilities as a result of COVID-19, Gendron Travel shall apply the policies specified when you purchased said package through your travel consultant as well as the cancellation policies outlined on your purchase invoice. CREDIT CARD PAYMENT By providing a credit card number to a travel

consultant, either verbally or in writing, the customer agrees to respect the present terms and conditions and authorizes a security deposit and/or the purchase transaction be charged to said credit card, whichever applies. Gendron Travel may require written confirmation from the customer stating that this credit card can be used without the customer’s signature. UNUSED SERVICES No refunds will be provided for services that are unused or cancelled after your departure or as a result of circumstances beyond our control. The customer is responsible for contacting their travel insurance agent in this situation. TRAVEL INSURANCE Gendron Travel strongly recommends that its customers purchase travel insurance when reserving their trip, most notably insurance covering trip cancellation, damages and baggage loss as well as insurance covering medical and hospitalization costs abroad and, lastly, car rental insurance. Customers who are already insured through their credit card, their group work insurance, or through any other form of personal insurance are responsible for understanding the conditions of their existing contracts and shall not hold Gendron Travel responsible in any way for any aspect of their travel insurance. Customers are invited to contact their travel consultant for more information on travel insurance. Please note that some insurance policies do not cover incidents occurring when engaging in extreme sports (off-piste skiing, heliskiing, etc.). The client is responsible for validating this information with their insurer and ensuring they have adequate insurance coverage for their trip. It is the client’s responsibility to validate prior to their departure with insurer. CUSTOMER’S RESPONSIBILITY Customers are responsible for informing the travel consultants of any condition (physical, health, pregnancy, etc.) that may restrict their ability to travel in any way whatsoever. INCREASE IN PRICE AND COSTS In the event of an increase in taxes, royalties or other fees authorized by a recognized public authority, the indicated prices are subject to change. Gendron Travel reserves the right to increase fees and prices as a result of fluctuations in the exchange rate, fuel costs, taxes and other applicable fees. Should the price increase following a fuel surcharge imposed by the carrier or an increase in the exchange rate (if the exchange rate applicable 45 days before provision of services has increased more than 5% since the date of contract signing; and/or if the increase in price, without taking the QST and GST into consideration, is equal to or higher than 7% of the price of services), the customer may cancel said services (with full and immediate refund of services) or opt for a substitute offer of similar services; if the price of these similar services is higher than those originally reserved, the customer will be required to pay for the price difference. No price increase may occur within 30 days before provision of services. Any price reduction resulting from a promotion or a decision made by Gendron Travel applies to new reservations only. For the most recent prices, please contact one of our travel consultants. No changes can be made to previous reservations. RESPONSIBILITY Gendron Travel is responsible for offering all of the services described on its Web site and in the present magazine. If, for any reason whatsoever, the stipulated services cannot be offered as indicated or prices increase as a result of situations outside of Gendron Travel’s control (including a change in inventory/availability due to the new restrictions imposed as a result of COVID-19 sanitary measures), Gendron Travel shall not be held liable. In such cases, the customer may choose to cancel his reservation. Gendron Travel will then offer the customer services of a comparable nature. Gendron Travel reserves the right to cancel or modify a trip at any time. The passenger waives all claims of any nature or any kind against Gendron Travel for loss, theft, accidents or damage. Gendron Travel will not be held liable for the closing of facilities, strikes, bankruptcies, political crises, terrorist attacks, bad weather, the quality of services provided by suppliers or overselling by the latter, the traveler’s failure to obtain all necessary travel documents, flight delays or any other circumstance or condition beyond Gendron Travel’s control that may prevent the normal and anticipated activities of the trip. RESERVATION CHANGES The following fees will apply for any changes made (room type, hotel, car rental, lift tickets and transfers): more than 45 days before travel start date, modification fees are $25 per person or any amount charged by the hotel, carrier or any other supplier involved in a reservation if said amount is higher than $25 per person. 45 days or less before the departure date, Gendron Travel reserves the right

to refuse certain changes. Generally speaking, fees are always charged for any changes made. Name or date changes are considered a cancellation (please refer to the paragraph on Cancellation Fees for more information). GUIDED TRIPS If the minimum number of passengers required for any of the guided trips advertised in this magazine is not attained, Gendron Travel reserves the right to cancel the trip. If, however, the customer would still like to take the trip on his own, the package cost may be higher or lower depending on the new price in effect at that particular time. If the trip is to be cancelled for the reasons stated above and the customer chooses not to travel on his own, he will be reimbursed in full. PASSPORT A valid Canadian passport is your only proof of Canadian citizenship and is required any time you travel outside of the country, in all locations. Some countries require that your passport be valid for 6 months beyond your date of entry. FLIGHTS AND AIR CARRIERS Changes: Flights are conducted in accordance with the applicable tariff of the air carrier and pursuant to the regulations set out by the Canadian Transportation Agency. Consolidations and changes in the published schedule, aircraft type, days of operation, air carrier providing air transportation and flight itinerary may be undertaken at any time and without prior notice, in accordance with the air carrier’s tariff. Schedule check and connecting flights: Flight schedules, even when provided on a ticket, are tentative and therefore subject to change without notice. Changes may occur for a number of reasons, often beyond the control of the air carrier or Gendron Travel. Any customer who has purchased a package or flight with Gendron Travel is entirely responsible for verifying his flight schedule directly with the air carrier in the 24-hour period immediately prior to the departure and return date. Connecting flights are reserved at the customer’s risk and customers are entirely responsible for ensuring that they have adequate time to reach and board their connecting flight. Gendron Travel will not be held liable for any changes made to flight schedules or missed flight connections, including any incidental or consequential damages or any other additional fees (most notably loss of revenue or salary, loss of vacation days or any other fees) incurred as a result of the foregoing. Airport Check-in: Gendron Travel recommends that customers arrive at the air carrier airport check-in counter at least three (3) hours before their scheduled departure time, failing which their reservation may be cancelled and their seat may be assigned to another customer, with no right of recourse. Baggage: Air carriers set individual rules and regulations regarding the number, weight and size of bags. Customers are responsible for contacting the air carrier for information on the applicable restrictions and fees since these are subject to change at any time. Other air carrier conditions and limitations of liability: The limits of the air carrier’s liability with relation to the loss of and damage to baggage is established by the provisions of the Montreal Convention or the Warsaw Convention, depending on the case, by the applicable tariffs of the air carrier, as well as the contract appearing on the passenger ticket, the boarding pass and baggage check receipt, and any government regulations establishing the limitations of the air carrier’s liability. Once submitted to and approved by the federal authorities, any amendment or change to the air carrier’s general terms and conditions of carriage are effective immediately, without additional public notification. Plane tickets that remain unused, in whole or in part, on the indicated dates, will not be honored for a subsequent flight or reimbursed. Seat assignment: Unless already pre-assigned, aircraft seating is assigned by staff at the air carrier’s airport check-in counter. Certain fees not included as part of the package price may be charged directly by the air carrier. TRAVEL DOCUMENTS A valid Canadian passport is your only proof of Canadian citizenship and is required any time you travel outside of the country. Certain countries require that your passport be valid for 6 months beyond your date of return to Canada (in effect at the time of publication). Switzerland requires that your passport be valid for 3 month following your date of return (this policy is also applicable when transferring in Geneva for a French destination). It is the customer’s responsibility to obtain, at his own cost, all documents required by relevant government authorities and to adhere to all applicable laws. Certain countries can require that a visa be obtained from the Embassy (at the customer’s cost). A parent travelling alone with a child under the age of 18 may be required to show written notarized consent signed by the other parent authorizing said travel. The customer is responsible for asking his travel consultant about all required travel documents and ensuring that he has them all in his possession before departure. The carrier and any competent authority may refuse to

allow the customer to board if he does not have all of the required documents in his possession. In this case, the customer has no recourse and will not be reimbursed. Gendron Travel will not be held liable for the information or assistance provided by any of its employees with regard to required travel documents or compliance with the law in this respect, regardless of whether this information was provided verbally, in writing or by any other means. The customer may also be refused entry into a country even if he has all of the required travel documents in his possession. Gendron Travel will in no way be held liable for the consequences suffered by any customer who does not possess the required documents or who fails to comply with any given applicable law. It is essential that you verify all of the travel documents you have received in order to ensure that they correspond exactly to the reservations you have made. Should you notice an error in any document you receive, or should you have any questions pertaining to your departure or your trip, please consult your travel consultant. Departure tax and tourist card: Depending on your destination, you may be required to pay a departure tax and/or tourist card immediately on site. Service fees: certain hotels may charge resort taxes, which are payable on site. IDENTITY PROTECTION Protecting our customers’ identity is a priority for us at Gendron Travel. We only request information needed for customer files and for ensuring good communication and ease of operations. We do not sell our customer databases or share any personal information whatsoever without prior consent. We also have security systems used to protect all of the personal information contained within our computer system. If the problem in question cannot be resolved on site, please provide us with all necessary details as quickly as possible after returning from your trip. All complaints must be provided to your consultant in writing to ensure they are processed in a timely manner. SPECIAL REQUESTS FOR YOUR HOTEL STAY Special requests such as room location and bed size preference must be communicated at the time of reservation. Gendron Travel will forward your request to the hotel but cannot guarantee that it will be honored. Gendron Travel will not be held liable if certain requests are not respected. GIFT CERTIFICATES/TRAVEL CREDITS Want to give one as a gift? Nothing could be easier. Simply contact one of our travel consultants. To use a gift certificate or travel voucher, simply provide the original copy when making your reservation so that your travel agent can include it in your customer file. No reservation or price reduction will be applied unless your travel agent has the original gift certificate or travel voucher in hand. Gift certificates are non-transferable and have no cash value. Travel vouchers (unless otherwise indicated) are applicable for Gendron Travel’s exclusive packages (skiing, *golfing, biking and *sun destinations). They are not applicable to group departures when specified. *Product resold by Gendron Travel through suppliers such as Air Transat Vacations, Air Canada Vacations, TMR, Sunwing or other wholesalers independent from Gendron Travel are excluded. CANNABIS CONSUMPTION AND TRANSPORT Under Section 21 of the Cannabis Act and amending various road safety provisions, Gendron Travel prohibits the possession and use of cannabis on agency premises and in vehicles. Upon presentation of a medical prescription, we will authorize the transport but not the consumption of cannabis in our vehicles. Note that the laws on possession and use of cannabis at destination apply and that clients are responsible for learning about the laws at destination. Gendron Travel is not responsible for the consequences for customers who would transport cannabis for medical purposes to destination. Illegal possession of cannabis while travelling could result in eviction of clients without reimbursement.
