Phoenix Rush

Mighty Rush

Turbo Rush

Mighty Rush Soccer Program is a unique opportunity to introduce your child to soccer. It is an eight week program which is run in conjunction with our Phoenix Rush Soccer Club. Mighty Rush will give your child a great start to this lifetime sport and will also prepare them for Rush U-5 developmental indoor soccer league which starts in April. The idea is to introduce children to the game of soccer by developing their motor skills, ball skills, and concepts of small sided games. The emphasis is very firmly on FUN! We feel that kids will be more comfortable and develop faster in this type of environment. Each child will receive a Mighty Rush T-shirt.

USTA Tennis Program Now with 10 and Under Tennis, balls bounce lower, don’t move as fast through the air and are easier to hit. Racquets are sized for small hands and courts are smaller and easier to cover. By using this format, the benefits are immediate and within a short time kids are rallying, playing, and excited to keep playing. That means kids will have more fun and less frustration. They’re playing real tennis and having real fun—and that’s what is most important.

GAGA League Gaga is a variant of dodgeball. The game combines dodging, striking, running and jumping with the object of hitting opponents with a ball below the knee while avoiding being hit. The game can be played by groups of individual players, teams and one-on-one matches. Gaga will help further develop your child’s hand/eye coordination and critical thinking skills while they are having fun. Gaga is fun for children of all ages. Sometimes referred to as “Israeli dodgeball” because it is believed to have been started in Israel over 50 years ago, Gaga

is played in a large octagon or hexagon called the Gaga pit. Gaga begins with someone throwing the Gaga ball up into the air. When it bounces the players say “Ga” each bounce for the first three bounces (sometimes two). Your back should stay on the wall until the third bounce is done. After three bounces the ball is in play and the game starts. Players “hit” the ball at each other in the ring. A player cannot “hit” the ball twice in a row unless it bounces off a wall or another person. When a player is hit, he/she leaves the game. A player who hits or knocks the ball out of the pit is also out. If a player catches the ball in the air, the last person to hit the ball is out.

8 Grade Recruitment Night th

January 27, 7pm

8th graders are now eligible for BBYO membership! Are you an 8th grader, but haven’t yet joined BBYO? This evening is your chance to come learn about our AZA and BBG chapters and what they can offer you.

BBYO for Grades 9-12

BBYO is the leading pluralistic teen movement aspiring to involve more Jewish teens in more meaningful Jewish experiences. BBYO has a presence in over 2,100 communities in North America and 25 countries around the world. At the core of BBYO is a network of 550 community-based chapters (12 to 100 teens) that are the heart of our renowned leadership programs – the Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA) for boys and the B’nai B’rith Girls (BBG) for girls. As members of AZA and BBG, teens come together throughout the year for innovative programs and enriching Jewish experiences. Because they’re teen-led, BBYO ensures that participants have access to things they want to do and a network of peers who care for each other. Mountain Region spans across Arizona, Nevada, and Utah and has seven chapters locally. During the school year five meet at the Valley of the Sun JCC on Monday evening at 7pm and two meet at the East Valley JCC on Tuesday evenings at 7pm during the school year.

J-Serve 2014 March 30

Join more than 10,000 Jewish teens from around the world as we come together to serve our communities and make a difference on this day. J-Serve to open to all teens, grades 6-12! If you are interested in planning a project or would like to volunteer for the J-Serve committee, please contact Rebekah at rrubenstein@bbyo.org.

Conclave Convention April 3-6, Prescott AZ

BBYO will be returning to Camp Pine Summit for our annual Conclave Convention. This memorable weekend is dedicated to electing our new regional board, honoring our graduating seniors, and making lasting memories. Don’t miss out!

Connect

for Grades 6-8 BBYO Connect is the BBYO experience made just for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students offering social and meaningful experiences that will serve as a gateway to continued involvement in Jewish life. BBYO Connect offers teens a variety of experiences to help bridge the gap between immediate preand post- Bar/Bat Mitzvah and High School programs. The purpose is to provide middle school students with a positive experience in which they can get together with camp, school, and synagogue friends, as well as meet new friends. BBYO Connect allows middle school students to begin experiencing the privileges and obligations of being a member of the Jewish and general communities. Focused on service, social, and Judaic programming, BBYO Connect builds a network of teens across North America at a critical age when middle school students begin to strengthen their identities, form social circles and prepare for high school and beyond. For more information on BBYO Connect programs in Phoenix, contact Danielle Dobrusin at ext. 1134 or email ddobsurin@bbyo.org today! Do you want to make a difference? Become a BBYO Advisor!
