We’re excited about our Winter and Spring programs. Our ECC continues to expand its extracurricular activities in addition to enriching our regular curriculum and accelerated programs . Club J is going strong! We’ve added some new art, crafts, theater and science classes as well as a tennis program for grades 1 and up at the Seth Korey Tennis Academy Don’t forget about camp! Club J After-School Program is an exciting, fun and educational environment which includes low ratios, experienced and caring counselors, free and low-cost enrichment classes, homework help and most importantly, a safe environment for your child to come and unwind after school.

Club J is a fully licensed after-school program for grades Kindergarten through Eighth, which starts on the first day of school for the Scottsdale, Pardes and Paradise Valley school districts, and runs through the last day of school. Club J includes pick up from your child’s school, daily homework help, sports, swimming and Holiday programs. It also sets itself far above the rest by the amazing weekly afterschool activities offered, the majority of which are INCLUDED in the price of Club J.

Club J offers a counselor-led and supervised pick-up service from many major Scottsdale schools such as Cheyenne, Sequoya and Cherokee Elementary, as well as other local public, charter and private schools. We also offer free, supervised walk-over for children attending Sonoran Sky Elementary and Pardes Jewish Day School. Please contact our Youth Department office for availability of pick up at your child’s school. New schools can be added to our pick up as long as there are two or more children signed up.

Catch A Ride

Does your child need to be brought from school to the JCC for swimming or sports practice only and does not have a need for the Club J program? Take advantage of our Catch A Ride service and have your child catch a ride to the J! Please contact our Youth Department office for availability of pick up at your child’s school.

Early Childhood Center

At the VOSJCC Early Childhood Center, our aim is to nurture each child’s natural curiosity, intelligence and interests. Warmth and affection is a constant companion throughout the day, as are stimulating experiences. Our NAEYC (National Association of the Education of Young Children) accredited Early Childhood Center involves children ages 6 weeks through pre-kindergarten.

Further Learning for Youngsters Enrichment Classes Enrichment classes are designed to allow Preschoolers to participate in quality and challenging activities along with or after the regular preschool day. VOSJCC Early Childhood teachers or specialists from the community teach these classes. They are designed to encourage children to pursue special interests or develop new skills in a fun-filled, creative environment. These classes are also available for age appropriate preschoolers who attend other schools. Space is limited and enrollment is on a first come basis. Classroom assignments and teachers are announced the week before class begins. For more information or to enroll, please call the ECC office.

Healthy Cooking in the Kitchen This cooking program makes it easy for children to learn about healthy food and good eating habits. From mango & kale smoothies to veggie omelets, get ready to stir up your child’s food choices with this delicious nutrition class taught by our own Trish Beattie. Grades Threes and Fours

JumpBunch Hockey Clinic This exciting, action-filled clinic will introduce children to the exciting sport of hockey using age appropriate equipment. Students will learn the correct way to hold a hockey stick, and receive instruction on ball/puck control, passing, and shooting. Each class will always begin with JumpBunch warm-ups. In addition to introducing children to the skills that are used in both field and ice hockey, we’ll also be helping to improve gross motor skills and eye/ hand coordination along the way! In this semester’s cooking class we are going to focus on baking up some delicious and Kosher goodies such as pastries, breads, pies, cakes, and so much more. Kid Fit Tennis (A tennis based fitness program for children Pre K – K) Kid Fit Tennis is a unique, exciting, and innovative approach to tennis instruction. KEEN is a national, nonprofit volunteer led organization that provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities* at no cost to their families and caregivers. KEEN at the J program meets for 2 hours on the first and third Sundays of every month (excluding holiday weekends).

*KEEN athletes have a wide range of disabilities, including: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, epilepsy, learning disabilities, intellectual disability, spina bifida, amputee and more.

Pinterest for Kids

Kid Fit Yoga

Amenzone

Being a Pinterest mom is hard – so many awesome DIY crafts and so little time to do them. In this class your child will get to do all of those crafts you’ve been wanting them to do, from making their own snow globes to creating paper-mache cacti. Sign up your crafty kid for the ultimate DIY class!

Get moving and have fun in our Kid Fit program taught by certified professionals. In this class your child will improve flexibility, strength, and endurance using age appropriate yoga poses and yoga themed games.

Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, Amenzone Foundation is an Emmy Award winning non-profit organization whose mission is to empower youth through fitness. Amenzone Foundation is dedicated to inspiring today’s youth to lead healthy lifestyles, in turn helping fight childhood obesity. Their program focuses on three major components: self-esteem, fitness and nutrition. They use nothing other than recycled car tires and bodyweight for their workouts. Amenzone Foundation believes it is important for today’s youth to understand the idea of resourcefulness over resources. The biggest part of being healthy is being happy.

Harry Potter: Beyond the Books Step into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with Club J! Whether your child is a fan of the books or the movies or both, they will absolutely love this class. After your kids are sorted into their houses, we’ll delve into everything from playing Wizards Chess and Quidditch, to making our own Chocolate Frogs and Pumpkin Juice. Your child will be able to explore the magical world of Harry Potter to its fullest extent with this class.

In this intermediate level I class we will be using the Bridge Basics Level 2 book by Audrey Grant*. Competitive bidding, preemptive opening and responses, over calls, advance, take out doubles, negative doubles, competitive auction with new methods. We will play lots of practice hands to help you gain the skills needed to move up to the advanced level class. Instructor: Farol Sax

These hands-on classes, taught be professional chefs, will be held at Allstate’s state-of-the art showroom and test kitchen in North Scottsdale at 15250 N. Hayden Road. You’ll work side by side to prepare a meal, learn techniques and tricks of the trade along with unique ways to use a variety of ingredients and seasonings. (Kosher and Kosher-style meals will be featured).
