Letter Founder from the

Iwrite this letter to you, my dear sister, hoping to inspire and empower you and awaken wonderful things that God has in store for you in this edition of Voice of Truth.

We can be grateful in the shadow of the cross because God meets us there. He draws us in with His everlasting love. As you read on, you will see how God has created a community here where He provides Women World Leaders around the globe a place to feel His love, hope, and encouragement. This is a place to step in, draw closer, and find hope and healing through our Lord and Savior. Jesus knows our comings and goings and accompanies us on each step. It is beautiful to take these steps of faith with sisters who can direct us and encourage us through God’s Word. As we point directly to God, we pray you will understand that He, who loves you the most, is covering you with His wings.

The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in [everything that you do] From this time forth and forever.

PSALM 121:8 AMP

Whatever way you have journeyed here—whether coming to the cross of Christ, walking through a sorrowful season, or dancing joyfully— we are here to encourage you that the Lord intends to journey with you, not just for a time, but through every step of your life.

The Lord will not abandon his people; he will not desert those who belong to him (Psalm 94:14 GNT).

May God inspire you today through reading Voice of Truth to see yourself as you truly are: graceful, beautiful, soft,

feminine, powerful, and power-filled. When you place yourself in the shadow of His wings, you are covered with the fullness of life and love that you have in our Lord Jesus Christ. Do not confuse anything you may be going through right now—whether it be pain or pushing towards your purpose—with how Jesus feels about you. He cares about everything you go through and whatever you face. He does not want to be left out of your life—ever. Jesus loves you. He comforts you and holds you in the shadow of His wings.

As we believe God called this army of women together to share in community, may you sense and embrace a real family of Christ followers who pray for you no matter where you are connecting from. God has a purpose and a mission for your life, hidden in the depths of His love and His perfect plan for you. It is sealed by the power of the Holy Spirit, which remains and endures forever.

I pray you may continue to know the love of God and the peace of Christ, the peace that will be your protective force, safeguarding your emotions and thoughts from anxiety, worry, and fear. You can find God’s peace in the pages of His Word, and we believe you will find comfort as you read Voice of Truth, which has been carefully written in prayer to point you to God and His Word.

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you (Isaiah 54:10 NIV).

Exceedingly, Abundantly, Beyond, Kimberly Ann Hobbs

Jesus…said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Ladies-in-waiting

The young boy held the cocoon in one hand and his penknife in the other. His mum had told him to wait, but he really wanted to help the beautiful butterfly emerge, so he impatiently made the cut.

He didn’t understand that when a person intervenes and assists by removing a butterfly from the chrysalis prematurely, the butterfly misses out on a necessary, natural struggle. As a result, its body may not push enough fluid into its wings, leaving them underdeveloped and weak and causing the butterfly to have difficulty flying or preventing it from flying altogether. But without interference, the butterfly will develop properly and fly successfully.

How many times have we had small, shrivelled wings due to impatience, not recognising that our times are in His hands and His timing is perfect?

My motto for life has always been, “Why put off till tomorrow what you can do today?” That’s me—always active, busy, and planning ahead. Waiting was never in my vocabulary. When I was 17, a friend invited me to a Christian camp where horse riding was the big attraction. One morning, I was on an early trail ride as the sun was gently waking up the countryside. Everything was fresh, beautiful, and peaceful— and God found me. I wasn’t looking for Him and had no knowledge of Him. I was a confused teenager with no purpose or direction in life. I couldn’t explain it, but I knew Jesus touched me, filled me, and changed me; and He would now guide my life in the right direction. I quickly fell in love with the Bible and couldn’t get enough of the wisdom and living words within. John 8:12 (NLT) leapt out at me: Jesus… said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

I began praying earnestly for my parents. My mother came to faith five years later, but it took 12 years for my dad. I was frustrated. Wasn’t I praying correctly? Looking back, I now realise that the seeds of salvation take time to grow; when God doesn’t hurry, there’s a very good reason.

After being unable to find my place in the Bible each week while in church, I rushed off to Bible College to learn more. While there, I also completed my journalism studies. Why stop at one course when you can do two? I read Through Gates of Splendour, the story of Jim and Elizabeth Elliott and their work in Ecuador among the Auca Indians. They talked about a radio station in Quito where Christian programs were produced and aired, sending the Gospel into many parts of the world, and I was hooked. I was now trained. I’d caught the vision. That’s where God was calling me. I wanted to write for God through radio.

I attended every South American prayer meeting during those college years and even wrote a humorous play in which another student and I were trying to bravely cross a piranha-infested river in the middle of the Amazon jungle! I was 23, pumped up, and ready to go. My church was praying for me. On fire for God. I applied and was rejected; I was spiritually shattered. It wasn’t the right time, I was told. I needed more experience of God and life, and I needed to learn to wait! I was comforted by Romans 12:2 (NLT):

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

I shelved that dream and spent many years working alongside mentally ill, abused, and hurting people, writing their stories for Christian organisations and magazines. Then, 20 years later, God led me to my perfect job at Wesley Mission in Sydney,

Australia, where my role was to write articles, produce a monthly newsletter, AND write a daily Thought for the Day devotional radio spot to be aired Monday to Friday. During my years there, I wrote over 1300 of these, which aired across Australia. No matter how difficult things may have been at home, how tired or drained I felt, God always gave me the words on time every day. My dream was right, but my timing and location had been wrong! I’m humbled that He never makes mistakes and His plans come to fruition no matter how long it takes. I love Isaiah 30:18 (NLT): So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.

Am I patient yet? After many years in our own home, my husband, two daughters, and I had to sell up and move into rented accommodation. We moved eight times in the next 16 years; I failed to understand why the wait was so long for us to be able to settle in one place, but we were never homeless, and God provided all our needs. I learnt

that our security is in Him, not in possessions. And that our battered furniture would last the distance.

Then there were four really tough years. We were trying to sell my husband’s accountancy practice in order to move interstate to be near our girls, who had married and moved north, and finally purchase a home for our retirement. Every spare moment was spent shredding mountains of documents! Also, hubby’s diagnosis of prostate cancer was a hard blow to handle. Why? Why now? Why now, when we finally had an interested buyer? Around this time, two things became abundantly clear: I would hate shredders with a passion for the rest of my life, and patience is not one of my spiritual gifts! It was not given to me but earned by gradually growing through life’s tough experiences.

I said, “Four years to sell? Couldn’t you have moved faster, Lord? Why so long?”

He replied, “I know you’re exhausted, but your new home awaits. Go and see what I have found for you.”

We could only take 10 days off from the office and the shredding, so we boarded a plane and, on day three, there it was, allowing us seven

precious days to relax and rejoice that His plan was unfolding before us.

We received all that we wanted and more—a safe home in a gated estate, a beautiful garden we didn’t have to look after, lawns we didn’t have to mow, and a sparkling pool we didn’t have to clean. And then there was the bonus of a river running through the bottom of the property with what I call “therapy seats” along the path. One of these has become my special prayer place, where I regularly commune with God and nature while watching graceful black swans, regal pelicans, and chatty ducks sail past. The wait was over, God was faithful, and we were sooo thankful. Numbers 23:19 (NLT) flowed over us: God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?

Ok, Lord, I get it. Stop questioning. Just wait. Stop trying to control my world and trust in your love and purpose. Just wait!

God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?

NUMBERS 23:19 NLT

In 2022, I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. Now there were two of us needing regular blood tests, scans, infusions, and doctors’ appointments. I joked that if I lost my diary, you’d have to shoot me! I learned to wait for nausea to settle down after chemo sessions. I learned to wait for skin to heal after radiation.

to go beyond ~ William Newton Clarke
Faith is daring the soul what the eyes can see.
Ok, Lord, I get it. Stop trying to control my world and trust in your love and purpose.

I learned to wait for my hair to grow back. Life had slowed down, but treatments had escalated, so we were always tired. I learned that waiting can be exhausting without resting.

At the start of 2024, I went into remission. But in July 2024, a tumour marker indicated that something had changed and cancer had probably returned. My oncologist was going away for three weeks, so I had further tests, booked to see him on his first day back, and waited. That was the longest three weeks of my life!

For the first two weeks, waiting on God was hard work. My mind was in turmoil, my body was remembering all too clearly, and my soul was scared. “Not again, Lord. I don’t think I can go through this again when my energy has only just kicked in. I’m not strong enough emotionally to withstand more all-consuming unwanted treatments.” Then I remembered Jesus’ words in Matthew 11.28 (NLT): “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.”

In week three, it hit me: there’s a huge difference between waiting on God and resting in God! Both can be difficult, but for me, waiting is stressful, while resting is relaxing. I arrived at acceptance and assurance as I allowed God’s strength and peace to fill me instead of being caught in the net of fear for the future with my churning, malignant thoughts keeping me trapped. I walked into that appointment with a

smile on my face and a peaceful heart, realising that faith and fear can’t co-exist. I recently read a challenging and gripping paraphrase of 2 Corinthians 5:7, which says that Faith is daring the soul to go beyond what the eyes can see (William Newton Clarke).

The result came back negative—no cancer anywhere in my body. This may not have been a medical miracle, but it was certainly a personal miracle and a faith milestone. I prayed, others prayed, and God worked. Thankful, grateful, and humbled is how I feel today. Am I patient now? Well, we’ve just experienced four weeks of very limited internet connection and no phone service. What do you think? Yep, I still have a long way to go!!!

We are all ladies-in-waiting in at least one area of our lives, but I have learned that God is never late. We are all emerging butterflies and when we’re ready, He will launch us into the lives and service He wants us to have. Psalm 91:1 (NLT) explains it beautifully: Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I love that picture of resting in the shadows, settling into a cool, safe place, hidden from all except God and protected by His expansive wings while mine continue to grow and strengthen. I am learning each day to rest more in Him while I wait, as Psalm 37:7 (NLT) encourages us: Be still in the presence of the Lord and wait patiently for him to act.

RESTORE LIKE JESUS

Whenmy parents were preparing to build their own home, I would chauffeur my mother through neighborhoods to look at brick and shingle colors. As I did, I began to appreciate the unique qualities of the houses in each area. The older neighborhoods were the best because the outside of every house looked different.

It strikes me today that though the houses looked different on the outside, they surely had similar characteristics inside. A typical house would have three bedrooms, each with a closet. But how many additional closets there would be was anyone’s guess—some probably had more than others. And some, likely, had skeletons in those closets—secrets that the owner was hiding! As someone driving by, I was not given permission to go inside, but that didn’t keep me from appreciating what I could see.

When we make a new acquaintance, we are given a gift to see and appreciate the person standing before us. It is not our responsibility, or even right, to run to find out what skeletons are in their closets. Perhaps in time, we will be given that honor. And when we are, we must approach our exploration with care and love.

I found that when people learned about my transgender past, they went straight for the closets. They wanted to root around in there and try to understand why I would want to change my gender. What skeletons could I possibly be hiding from them? The questions they asked were intrusive. Finding someone who wanted to know me for who I am was rare.

After I walked with God for a short time, I longed to forget I had been rescued from my desire to be male. I

did not want my past confused with the woman of God I desperately was trying to be. I was tired of being under the microscope and everyone trying to peer into my past, which was causing me to feel shame.

Shame is a painful feeling of humiliation caused by the consciousness of wrong or foolish behavior. Am I ashamed of my past behavior? I am not. Yet, others trying to “understand” me often pushed me towards feeling that way. It was as if I had to explain every thought that went through my mind. Justify every action I took. As a result, I felt underappreciated for who I was trying to become. The questioning kept me locked in a past I could not adequately explain. Nor should I have been asked to explain.

God has created each individual with an outside that is as unique as those neighborhood houses I loved driving past. I’ve learned to appreciate the color of the bricks and the shingles of each. I don’t need to be concerned about the number of bedrooms, closets, or even skeletons contained within. I can sit on the curb and absorb the outside beauty as I wait for my invitation to enter.

We often meet new people from different backgrounds than us. The desire may be to get inside quickly, rummage around, and look for the differences in them. Or maybe, when our eyes see too many differences, we turn around, walk away, and never think about that person again. What if we embrace what each individual allows us to see on the outside, appreciate what is before us, challenge ourselves to figure out what we may have in common rather than focusing on our differences, and allow ourselves to be invited instead of trying to break down the door?

CHOOSE TO BE THE HANDS AND FEET OF JESUS AS YOU OPEN YOUR HEART INSTEAD OF TEARING DOWN SOMEONE ELSE’S DOOR.

I had layers of bricks on my outside when I finally began attending church. All the wounds of my life had taught me that I could not trust people. As I got comfortable and offered permission, I needed someone to chisel the bricks apart gently and with great care. I did not need someone to blow my walls up with dynamite just so they could get a glimpse inside.

Ask yourself how God wants to use you. I’m willing to bet He hasn’t ordained you to be a demolition specialist! Instead, He calls us to use the fruits of the Spirit that He so freely offers us. When you do, even a wounded individual will respond to your love, patience, kindness, and—most of all—gentleness. The bricks they’ve so dutifully constructed will begin to fall away naturally as God’s beautiful masterpiece emerges. What a sight that will be to behold.

Choose to be the hands and feet of Jesus as you open your heart instead of tearing down someone else’s door.

Choose to be a part of someone’s restoration.

Choose to love like Jesus.

Empowering Lives Purpose with

The Shadow

WhenI saw the cover art for this edition of Voice of Truth, my heart leaped with joy at its profound meaning as God gave me my own vision of what my eyes saw.

Guard me as you would guard your own eyes. Hide me in the shadow of your wings.

PSALM 17:8 NLT

How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

PSALM 36:7 NIV

I thought of countless times growing up when my life was spiraling out of control over the choices I made. God protected me with His love during those different scenes of my life. On numerous occasions, I got myself into troublesome

No matter how often I messed up, God protected me with His love, grace, and mercy.

situations that could have been deadly—all due to my disobedience to God. No matter how often I messed up, even though I had to face the consequences of my sinful choices, God protected me with His love, grace, and mercy. I found refuge hiding under the shadow of God’s wings. He was there whenever I needed Him.

Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.

PSALM 57:1 NLT

Hiding under the shadow of God’s wings requires moving with God. It is a place where we can find safety, yes, but it’s not stagnant. It’s not an isolated place, either. It’s a movable place where God moves with us because He loves us so much that He’ll never let us go. In my trouble, He has watched over me. As long as I can remember,

I’ve had a vision of God’s wings moving back and forth over me, overseeing everything I do. Sometimes, I was ashamed of myself as I ran to that place when I was afraid, but I’ve always known God still loves me. Although I knew He did not approve of my doings during those past seasons of my life, I pictured those wings that gently moved me onward to a safer place.

God brought me to a place where His presence overwhelms me—where sin no longer has control over me. I’ve come to a place of full repentance and surrender at the cross of Christ. His love is forgiving. Jesus died to make sure I would live, and in dying, He showed me how to live. I completely changed. My life had new beginnings. When I fully gave my life to Christ, God opened His arms of love. Under His wings, as described in His Word, was my place of belonging. This is always my safe place, my comfort and shelter. As the psalmist says, we can feel safe beneath the shadow of God’s wings.

Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.

PSALM 63:7 NLT

One of the most beautiful illustrations I’ve ever seen was demonstrated by someone telling our youth group how much Jesus loves us despite everything we have done wrong. The person said, “It was this much,” while stretching his arms out as far away as he could from his sides. He continued, “Jesus loved you this much that He stretched out His arms and willingly died for you.” I have learned so much about the meaning of the cross where my Savior died and the wings of God’s love that hover over and protect me. And now, I wish to share this beautiful message with everyone I know and everywhere I go.

God has brought me into proximity with an ever-expanding gathering of women who have joined in relationship with me. You can also be a part of a gathering of people who reach out and welcome others, showing them the safe place under the shadow of God’s wings. When you endeavor to move with God, despite your missteps and mistakes, you will be secure beneath His evermoving, everlasting wings.

Dear Sister

Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

PSALM 139:15 KJV

Dear sister,

There is a destiny that is waiting for you. You are not waiting for destiny or purpose; it is waiting for you. You do not have to recreate the story. You do not have to compete for what is your inheritance. You do have to trust and have confidence in knowing that what God has for you, is for you, for all things are yours! God looked at you, loved you, and He saw nothing less than substance of worth and greatness.

God looked at you, and He opened the world up before you. You never have to worry if tomorrow will bring the promises of God because God has already fashioned and formed the best of what He has for you each and every day. Close your eyes and take in what tomorrow holds for you before you even open your eyes. Open your arms and embrace the best of what tomorrow holds for you, and you have not even seen it. Take a deep breath and inhale the greatness of the day that God has already created before you have even gotten through today. Rejoice in the greatness of what lies before you each and every day knowing that God has set you up to win!

Love You,

Dr. Jia

Following Son the

You’re Grounded!

Whenyou read this title, how did it hit you? Maybe it brought back bad memories of your childhood when you did something wrong and were told, “You’re grounded!” Or perhaps you held your head a little higher when someone told you “You’re grounded” because they meant you are mentally and emotionally stable, sensible, or realistic.

Grounding means to be in a subtle, natural electrical connection with the earth. And there are numerous studies showing that connecting directly with the planet may be the most effective prescription for our health and well-being, aside from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, many of us do not tap into these electrons on a regular basis.

Grass, dirt and soil, sand, gravel, unsealed sidewalks, stone and rock, and bodies of water are conductive surfaces that enable grounding.

Non-conductive surfaces that may prevent grounding are asphalt, carpet, wood, rubber, vinyl, and painted or sealed concrete.

When I learned of this, I was elated as I thought I now had a valid excuse to go to the beach! No wonder I feel so at peace when looking at the water or walking barefoot in the sand. It always makes me feel more refreshed, lighter, and grateful. Psalm 24:1-2 (NIV) proclaims, The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.

Have you ever thought about Adam and Eve walking around in the Garden of Eden? I sometimes try to imagine or picture myself walking around in the Garden of Eden. Walk with me for a moment, if you would.

Barefoot and bare, one with nature, no sneezing or stuffy nose.

Beautiful trees, food to eat, and grass between your toes.

Sounds of water, flowing river, birds flying up above.

Tending the garden, appreciating nature, feeling God’s amazing love.

In Genesis, the Bible describes the Garden of Eden as a perfect, beautiful paradise planted by God in the eastward region of Eden, where every tree was pleasing to the eye and good for food, with a river flowing through it, and containing the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam and Eve were told to dress and keep it, meaning they should take care of the Garden. If not, it would deteriorate. They were to grow in their relationship with each other, with the Lord, and with the Garden.

To me, this sounds like true peace, contentment, absolute love, and fulfillment.

Because of obedience.

However, we all know it didn’t go that way.

Disobedience changed everything!

But one day, it will be perfect.

This is what God wants for us!

Until then, ground yourself. Find spaces and places that allow you to be one with nature. To reflect on The Creator. Breath deeply and engage all your senses. And strive for obedience.

On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea (Matthew 13:1 NKJV).

KING ASA

The world is full of turmoil, yet we, as Christians, serve the one true God—the Prince of Peace.

How do we harness God’s peace in our spirit despite what may be happening around us? Let’s look to the life of King Asa, whose story is told in 1 Kings 15:8-24 and 2 Chronicles 14-16, to help us uncover the answer.

King Asa was King of Judah for 41 years. The country was at peace for the first ten years of his rule. Then, for the next 25 years, despite enemies coming at them, Judah won their battles and experienced times of rest. However, after 35 years of Asa’s reign, things got pretty rough. Let’s break it down as we ask God what He wants us to learn today.

As a descendant of David, Asa came to power in 910 BC; the Bible records that he did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God (2 Chronicles 14:2 NIV). Early in his reign, Asa removed foreign altars from the land and commanded the people to obey God’s laws, and the people lived in peace.

To experience peace, we must follow God in obedience. This means we must ask God for His wisdom as we read the Bible and pray, and then, in humility, turn away from our own wants and desires and do “What Jesus would do.” Asa proclaimed: “The land is still ours, because we have sought the Lord our God; we sought him and he has given us rest on every side” (2 Chronicles 14:7 NIV).

But following God does not mean we won’t experience hardship. In time, enemies came against Judah, but Asa and his men were ready because they had obediently prepared as God had led them. We serve a God who knows what is coming! Just as Noah built the ark, we can trust that God will guide us in preparations for our future.

Our job is to obey God!

As they began experiencing hardship, the people of Judah didn’t sit back and rely on their preparations; instead, they continually called on the Lord. Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said, “Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, Lord our God, for we rely on you” (2 Chronicles 14:11 NIV).

To experience peace, we must continually call on the name of the Lord. As followers of Christ, it is not enough to seek God once and then strike out in our own “power” and our own “wisdom.” Notice that power and wisdom are in quotes! The devil would like us to become complacent! He wants us to forget that God is our supplier and begin to believe that what we have accomplished and been blessed with is our own doing. Please don’t be fooled!

“THE LORD IS WITH YOU WHEN YOU ARE WITH HIM. IF YOU SEEK HIM, HE WILL BE FOUND BY YOU, BUT IF YOU FORSAKE HIM, HE WILL FORSAKE YOU.”

2 CHRONICLES 15:2 NIV

As the Lord gave Judah victory, God’s people committed to Him with excitement and joy! They took an oath to the Lord with loud acclamation, with shouting and with trumpets and horns (2 Chronicles 15:14 NIV).

To experience peace, we must commit to the Lord with joy. Committing to the Lord is not a “one-anddone” event. We must turn to Him again and again, especially when the going gets rough. Although our path may not become smooth when we do, we can trust that God will always be with us, offering us peace beyond our understanding.

Unfortunately, Asa didn’t read this article! After 35 years of reigning successfully as King of Judah by following God in obedience, continually calling on the name of the Lord, and committing to Him with joy, Asa went astray.

When Israel came against Judah, Asa took matters

into his own hands. Using gold and silver from the Lord’s temple, Asa bribed the king of Aram to side with Judah against Israel. The plan went beautifully. However, a seer named Hanani later warned Asa that Judah would be at war for the rest of Asa’s reign because he had not trusted God to show them how to win the battle. Instead of repenting upon hearing this news, Asa got angry and imprisoned Hanani. Then, Asa was afflicted with a disease in his feet. Though the disease was severe, even in his illness he did not seek help from the Lord (2 Chronicles 16:12 NIV).

To experience peace, we must humbly repent when God shows us the error of our ways. We are human. We will experience failure and falls. But our God is always there, ready to show us the way and guide us into His way. It takes humility to say, “I was wrong.” We must love God more than we love ourselves and turn away from our pride. When we mess up or choose the wrong path, whether purposefully or simply in error, God will be waiting with an opportunity for us to step aside and allow Him to rule in our hearts again.

DON’T TRUST YOUR OWN “WISDOM.”

DON’T CLAIM SELF-SUFFICIENCY.

DON’T BECOME WEARY AND COMPLACENT.

AND DON’T SELL YOURSELF TO PRIDE.

Search for God’s peace always! Obediently follow Him, continually call on Him, and commit to Him with joy. And when you fail to do any of those, repent and return to step one. God will be there. And His peace will always be available to you.

TO EXPERIENCE PEACE,

WE MUST FOLLOW GOD IN OBEDIENCE.

The God Who Sees Me

SEASONS THAT CHANGE

As we transition from spring to summer, I am quickly reminded that God allows us to walk through varying seasons in our lives. Blooming spring trees erupt from the cold barren winter trees and transition into shaded greenery before becoming a colorful canopy. Seasons have always been an important metaphor for change, a tangible display of God's creation. I think of the seasons as representing the different lessons and beauty I have walked through. Each has a unique negative and positive benefit in nature and our lives. Seasons also remind us that things will change; even though an unwanted period might feel as if it will last forever, it will pass, just as seasons do.

In our lives, we must hold onto faith that the season we are in will pass, even though there may be hurt, sorrow, and sitting on the valley floor in these seasons. However, a challenging season can lead to a season of refreshing and renewal. God inhabits the hard. God is in the renewal.

As a licensed counselor, I am often reminded of the seasons and the brokenness encountered on this side of eternity. Brokenness plagues so many people, and their only hope is Jesus. Our season can feel crippling. As I sit

with people in their hurt and uncertainty, helping them through the winter season, we often pray for spring.

I have a dear friend who seems to have been suffering for years in a winter season. Sometimes, I don't know what to say, as her winter season seems never-ending. However, I know that God sees every ounce of her heart and hears her cry for the spring season of renewal and refreshing. It is hard to understand these times of waiting. Waiting is one of the most challenging things to do because we feel a loss of control, and all we can do is trust the Lord.

Psalm 27:14 says, Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! (ESV)

When the sorrow and hurt are too much, know that God sees you. When you feel like giving up, you can trust God to give you the strength you need. When you can't see anything but the storm, God asks you to never lose sight of Him. I am reminded of Peter walking on the water; when he took His gaze off Jesus, he began to sink.

He said, "Come." So, Peter got out of the boat and walked on water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me." Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" (Matthew 14: 29-31 ESV).

My friend consistently comes to my mind when I think about the seasons of life. I have often cried out to God on her behalf, wondering why her suffering must endure for so long. We can trust God with our emotions and feelings because He created them, but I want to understand why. Why does it have to be so hard? Then, God gently reminds me, "My daughter, there is purpose in the pain. There is growing to be done. There is pruning that I am doing. Just trust me."

Growth and wisdom come after hard seasons. God is present amid the storm, which is the greatest comfort I need. We are not alone.

“FEAR NOT, FOR I AM WITH YOU; BE NOT DISMAYED, FOR I AM YOUR GOD. I WILL STRENGTHEN YOU, I WILL HELP YOU; I WILL UPHOLD YOU WITH MY
RIGHTEOUS RIGHT HAND.”
ISAIAH 41:10 RSV

Many of you may be walking in hard seasons. Some may be waiting and trusting for answers to the prayers that you have prayed for months or even years. God is moving. Sometimes, we can't see it, but we must trust His heart. God sees you. In the middle of it all, He is whispering to your soul, “Never lose hope,” and encouraging you to believe that His way is so much greater than ours.

Complacency: Recognizing It and Moving Beyond

Life is a journey of continuous growth, but at times, we find ourselves settling into comfort zones, believing that the hard work is behind us. Whether in recovery, faith, relationships, careers, or personal growth, complacency can quietly creep in, making progress feel stagnant. What once required dedication and perseverance can, over time, become automatic. Without realizing it, we start coasting rather than striving.

Therefore, let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall (1 Corinthians 10:12 RSV). This verse is a powerful reminder that no one is exempt from slipping. No matter how strong we feel, we must remain vigilant in our spiritual walk and personal development.

What Is Complacency?

Complacency is a subtle, deceptive state of self-satisfaction. We assume we’ve reached a place of stability and no longer need the same level of effort or vigilance. It’s not an obvious, immediate fall, but rather a gradual drifting away from the habits, faith, and discipline that once fueled our growth. Without realizing it, we become less engaged, less intentional, and more vulnerable to slipping back into old patterns.

It starts small—skipping a morning prayer, putting off a conversation with God, neglecting time with loved ones, or convincing ourselves that we no longer need the support or structure that

once kept us strong. Before we know it, we are drifting, disconnected from the very things that helped us build a firm foundation.

I can do all this through him who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13 NIV). This verse reminds us that we are never alone in our struggle with complacency. God’s strength is always available to us, but we must choose to lean into it.

Recognizing Complacency as a Call to Renew

Rather than viewing complacency as failure, we should see it as a signal—an invitation to refresh and renew our commitment to growth. In Psalm 51:10 (RSV), David cries out, Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. Renewal is always possible, no matter how far we may have drifted.

If you recognize complacency in your life, whether in faith, recovery, relationships, or your personal goals, take heart. This is not the end of your journey; it’s simply a moment to recalibrate and refocus.

Steps to Overcome Complacency

1. Reconnect with Your “Why” Through Faith and Reflection

Take time to revisit why you started your journey in the first place. It may be your commitment to God, recovery, a personal calling, or a relationship with your loved ones. Remembering your purpose can reignite your passion. God is not done with you. He is still working in your life, guiding you toward something greater.

Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6 NIV).

2. Re-engage with Community and Support

We are not meant to walk alone. When complacency sets in, one of the most effective ways to push past it is to surround yourself with people who encourage and challenge you. Whether it’s a faith community, a mentor, a support group, or a trusted friend, seek out connection. Fellowship strengthens us and keeps us accountable.

WE ARE NOT MEANT TO WALK ALONE. "

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17 NIV).

3. Set New, Meaningful Goals

Sometimes, we grow complacent because we stop aiming for new heights. Setting fresh, purposedriven goals can rekindle motivation and help us stay engaged. This could mean deepening your spiritual life, taking on a new challenge in your career, dedicating more time to family, or serving in a way that aligns with your faith.

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:31 NIV).

4. Refresh Your Daily Routine

Routines are vital, but they must evolve to stay meaningful. What once worked may no longer be enough to keep you engaged. Consider incorporating new spiritual practices, personal development exercises, or ways to challenge yourself. Transformation is an ongoing process, and our daily habits should reflect that.

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer (Romans 12:12 ESV).

5. Find Accountability Partners

Accountability is key to maintaining progress. A mentor, a friend, a prayer partner—someone who will walk with you, check in on you, and encourage you to keep going. Having someone to share your journey with can provide the encouragement you need to push forward.

Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man has great power in its effects (James 5:16 RSV).

Keep Going, Keep Growing

Complacency is a reality that every person faces at some point. It’s not a sign of weakness but an opportunity to grow deeper in faith, purpose, and commitment. Every challenge, every dip in motivation, and every moment of feeling stuck is an invitation to seek God more fervently and trust that He is leading us toward something greater.

Each day is a new opportunity to grow, to recommit, and to walk boldly in the purpose God has for us. Stay in prayer, stay connected through the unity of the Holy Spirit, and trust in His will, even when it doesn’t make sense. He is with you—guiding, strengthening, and walking beside you—one step at a time, one day at a time. You are loved.

Seen or Unseen

WhenChasing Butterflies JOURNALS

I was a little girl, I would run off to a park near my home and sit against the cement wall separating the park from the waterway. It was my secret place. I would daydream about every unrealistic possibility—imagining a secret fairytale place I could escape to and hide from the darkness around me.

I learned to be alone in this place; it was the only place I wasn’t afraid. I understand now that God was preparing me for the cave I would later enter, where He and I would reside together—my secret place with God.

It felt like a dream come true when I started writing in my first book with this ministry. I had spent so many years journaling, picturing the day when I could share my God story, “Chasing Butterflies,” with the world. I would write this BIG DREAM in my journals:

“I will write a book about God.”

When the book finally launched, I was so excited. I felt seen for the first time. I felt special, good enough, and worthy of being part of something important.

However, I soon realized that these feelings of validation were only temporary because they weren’t rooted in the right place. I remember proudly telling everyone that I was writing in a book and that I was

I am growing more in love with God.

going to be a published author. But because I had felt unseen for most of my life, my focus was on being seen rather than understanding the deeper purpose of my writing.

The people closest to me didn’t celebrate my achievements; they didn’t even discuss them or bring them up in conversation. I had to mention it myself, and when I did, they acted as if they didn’t care.

Looking back, I am so grateful for those hard moments because it felt as though God was reminding me, “Did you do this for them, Connie, or did you do it for Me?”

After Victories was published, there were more books, more opportunities, and more ways to serve the Lord. But God is so clever; He granted me the desires of my heart on His terms. I realized I would still be in the cave with Him, experiencing more years of training, growth, pain, endurance, and, ultimately, prevailing.

Jesus trained for 30 years for just three years of ministry, and David had to become king in the cave before he could be king outside of it.

In the cave, God grows, prunes, matures, and prepares us, so when we emerge, we are prepared to thrive in the next place He leads us to.

In the cave, David was prepared to become a warrior in battle. And in the cave, I am learning endurance and complete reliance on God. In the cave, we discover how to worship, pray, and seek Him with all our hearts. We don’t have to feel depressed or anxious in this place. We can have joy even when it’s hard.

Yes, I can consider it pure joy because, in the cave, God is doing something new within me. He’s cutting out my insecurities, releasing my need for approval, and freeing me from the false security of man.

In the cave, I am growing more in love with God. I don’t need to be seen by anyone else. It is my secret place with my heavenly Father.

God sees us in the cave.

God sees you! He has already given you His stamp of approval. You don’t need an audience to acknowledge you for what you are doing for God; what truly matters is that He sees and supports you.

In the cave, when God finishes cutting away all the things that left you broken and shattered, He will raise you to the place He has created for you. This may take time. It’s not a competition; it’s an assignment. We can only grow as high as we go deep, which means God will take His time with us in the cave. Character has to be developed, integrity has to be cultivated, and faith has to be strengthened. I’m still in this process with God!!

I want to be a shining star for God, not just a shooting star. A shooting star streaks across the sky and is gone in an instant, but a shining star lasts, shining brightly for all to see, over and over again.

When you emerge from the cave, you will be stronger, more faithful, and ready to be part of God’s greatest mission. You will understand that it is not about the platform; it is about the purpose. You will know that God is not looking for perfection but for faithful, available, and teachable.

Commit to serving Him, even if that means serving in the cave!

Find your secret, unseen place with God and never lose it. In that sacred space, He will work on your heart and character. And when the time is right, He will elevate you to a place where others will see the heart of a lion and recognize you as a leader and true daughter of the King!

Keep going and count it all as joy.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
JAMES 1:2-3 NIV

Jan Scher • WHO IS ABLE?

Who Is Able?: The Dana Louise Cryer Story, written by Kimberly Ann Hobbs and Michael and Julie T. Jenkins, is a powerful true story about the horrific, tragic, and pandemic problem of child abduction, sexual abuse, and the cruel depravity of mankind shared through the eyes of two women.

I’m a retired police officer with over 18 years of service and have handled numerous child abuse reports. However, the level of abuse and cruelty endured by the two main characters, Dana and Jocinda, was hard to digest, even for a veteran police officer.

The story of Dana and Jocinda’s lives filled with physical, emotional, mental, and sexual abuse were shared in a very unique and captivating format. I couldn’t put the book down and finished reading it within two days. Even though they had come from totally different economic and social environments growing up, they had more in common than they knew.

How Dana overcame all the adversity in her life through the power of the Gospel (God’s Only Son Providing Eternal Life) message of Salvation, Redemption, and Forgiveness resonated with me a great deal since I’m a Forgiving Forward Coach and teach an online course based on the book of the same name, Forgiving Forward, by Pastor/Dr. Bruce & Toni Hebel. Dana’s personal relationship with Christ and the forgiveness of her sins liberated her from her past.

On page 156, Dana states, “Despite what I had been through and even who I had become in response to my pain and anger, God showed me I am not defined by my circumstances or what others inflict on me. The definition of who I am is determined solely by God.”

The Dana Louise Cryer Story Who Is Able?

Kidnapped at the age of five and taken deep into the woods alone, Dana Louise Cryer was forcefully thrown into a dilapidated, filthy shack where she experienced unimaginable horror. Terror-filled days, destitute nights, excruciating pain, and loneliness were all this little girl knew for over a decade. With little access to food, Dana spent her days on an old, dirty mattress, staring at the bare walls of that shack—living in fear that her captor would reappear and torment her, which he did. Again and again. The isolation was enveloping. The days turned into months and then years upon years as she remained in captivity.

Until…

This phenomenal story of rescue, restoration, hope, healing, and forgiveness—all in God’s abiding love—will captivate you. Dana’s incredible journey of tremendous pain is pierced by tumultuous circumstances and filled with twists and turns as she learns that living in God’s POWER can render ultimate forgiveness. God’s incredible love transforms this truelife survival account into a miraculous outcome of total freedom. This book will leave you breathless and in tears at what only God can do.

ABANDONED BUT NOT ALONE: HOW GOD

REWROTE MY STORY

Iwasthree years old when my parents divorced, and my father left to start a new life with another family. My mother was left to raise me and my three older brothers alone, working two jobs just to keep us afloat. I saw my father occasionally, until he moved to Puerto Rico. After that, the visits stopped.

He later had four children with his new wife, and I remember feeling like an outsider. I wondered, How could he leave us? Why do they get what I longed for? That deep sense of rejection stayed with me for years.

At twelve, my mother remarried, but that relationship was full of pain. Her husband was an alcoholic and verbally abusive. I watched her endure so much, and I promised myself I would break the cycle.

I met my husband at thirteen, and we’ve now been together for 40 years—praise God. But early on, I carried jealousy, insecurity, and brokenness into our relationship. I feared abandonment and didn’t understand why. At seventeen, I became a mother. I was scared but determined. I held onto Exodus 34:7, refusing to let the sins of the past pass to the next generation.

Though blessed with a good husband, a home, and two wonderful kids, I still battled low self-esteem, depression, and the need to be accepted by everyone. I never told my father how much I missed him. I knew he regretted the pain, and I didn’t want to hurt him more. Today, we speak regularly, and I thank God I still have him in my life.

Forgiveness has been a key to my healing. Honoring my father, as Scripture says, became part of my journey. And when my relationship with Jesus grew, everything changed. I learned I didn’t need the world’s approval—I had God’s.

Writing has played a huge role in my healing. Through Women World Leaders, God gave me a safe space to release years of pain. Putting my story into words helped me process, heal, and grow. It’s been life-changing—proof that God truly does use all things for good.

My heart and home were once broken—but because of Jesus, I have been made whole. I am no longer abandoned. I am chosen. I am victorious.

All glory to God—for His mercy, grace, and endless forgiveness.

You can read more of my story in Victories: Claiming Freedom in Christ. I am forever grateful to Women World Leaders for allowing me to be part of this healing journey. Writing this chapter changed my life. I highly recommend this book—it will deeply impact you with powerful, real-life stories of God’s grace and redemption.

GOD GAVE ME A SAFE SPACE TO RELEASE YEARS OF PAIN ."

Victories

Claiming Freedom in Christ

God is awakening warriors within the body of Christ to step up and be heard. As overcomers in Christ Jesus live their lives with boldness and courage, God unleashes freedom and power to defeat the enemy, and the devil is reminded over and over that Jesus has victoriously conquered death.

We need not worry or be anxious in any of our trials or tragedies in life because God's Word is clear that He will give us the victory. "Yet even in the midst of all these things, we triumph over them all, for God has made us to be more than conquerors, and His demonstrated love is our glorious victory over everything" (Romans 8:37 TPT).

Heather R. Cockrell • RESTORATION

Watching the people you love go through challenging times is difficult. Watching others hurt and struggle while not always knowing what to say and being unable to make the situation better is painful, especially when we haven’t been through what they are going through. While you can speak God’s truth and love to others based on what God has done in your life, no one can truly relate to what someone else is going through unless they’ve walked the same path.

When I picked up Restoration: God Brings Beauty from Ashes to start reading it, I was expectant and so excited. I felt in my spirit that this book was going to change lives. Having had the privilege to write a chapter for it, I knew the authors and some of their stories. I knew they were powerful. Still, I was surprised to discover how the stories I didn’t already know would impact me.

Rather than start at the beginning of the book, I asked God to lead me to which stories I needed to read first. The first two chapters I read touched my heart so deeply because they were exactly the situations one of my dearest friends is currently experiencing. What I hadn’t been able to relate to—because I hadn’t experienced it—was beautifully and transparently described on each page. The authors wrote about how they relied on God to get them through and the beauty and restoration He brought to the relationships in their lives. I cried reading page after page of those stories as I lived the moments through the writers’ eyes. I could sympathize with their pain and struggle, but I could also feel the promise of God’s healing that would come through them for my friend.

As she read about others who had gone through similar struggles, my friend was comforted. But God had more! My friend connected with one of the authors through the contact information shared in the book and took advantage of her ministry and monthly support group. Through this book, my friend now has a whole group of people to support her and to be a support for as they traverse these waters together in the presence of our heavenly Father.

I’m so grateful for the testimonies of these brave authors in Restoration. They are touching so many lives and bringing healing and restoration through our Father!

I FELT IN MY SPIRIT THAT THIS BOOK WAS GOING TO CHANGE LIVES."

Restoration God Brings Beauty from Ashes

God promises Restoration.

Although we may feel like we’ve lost everything, we can stand strong, knowing God will bring beauty from the ashes of our lives. There is no need to despair—God’s restoration will begin the moment you give your heart and circumstances to Him.

Lori Nolan • RESTORATION

Iguess you could say I am fairly new to the Women World Leaders network. In January of this year, while attending a women’s LeadHership conference, God had a divine appointment for me to meet Kimberly Hobbs. At that conference, I was prayed over by another wonderful woman of God and anointed to “get out of the box” and accept the promotion God had in store for me. I received it that day but apparently was still wrestling with thoughts of doubt and unworthiness.

I have had my own Health Coaching practice for the past eight years. I was coaching in a traditional way, as it would be when it came to health and wellness. I knew God was doing something with me when He asked me to write a book two years ago, which was published last year. At that time, He wanted me to shift my primary focus to His people’s spiritual and soul health instead of just their physical bodies. So that is what I have been focused on. However, I was still feeling very unqualified because my life wasn’t perfectly restored, and I was still praying and waiting on God to move and answer my prayers for my marriage and my family. I believed the messy parts needed to be fixed before God would truly use me. I thought I heard from God wrong; maybe I just had some “experience” at that conference for a later day—when all would be well and repaired. All those lies were shattered when I started to read WWL’s latest book, Restoration. I couldn’t wait to read it because I had met and greatly admired so many of the contributing authors.

As I began to read their personal stories of restoration, God spoke to my heart and told me that I didn’t need all my prayers answered and life to be perfect before He could use me.

These beautiful, godly, successful women shared the most intimate parts of their lives, and it amazed me. God was using them in the midst of their pain, unanswered prayers, challenges, and struggles. I was reading that book at just the right time. God is so aware of every second of our lives—where we will be and what we are thinking and feeling. His timing is always perfect. I wept as I read their stories, feeling their pain and their incredible faith. It was then that I knew I didn’t hear God wrong; I didn’t just have an “experience” that day meant for a later time. Those were lies from the enemy. God is calling me out of the box NOW; He’s calling me to step out in faith and trust Him to be a leader in what I do.

A CALL TO Writers

BLINDED BY SIN

In a world where the news seems absurd and beyond reasonable measure, we tend to sit back and question, “Why?”

Why are intelligent people using more and more profanity? Why are people filled with hatred toward one another? Why has common sense gone completely out the window and disappeared? Why do people want to inflict pain on other individuals just because they have a different belief or point of view?

The answer is quite simple. Sin. When a person does not understand God’s forgiveness, love, and mercy, their heart is dark and filled with sin. Jesus came to earth for all people, of all beliefs, of all skin colors, from all countries, and even of all political affiliations. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16 ESV).

Without the acknowledgment that Christ died to redeem all mankind from their sin, a slow, steady, beyond-comprehension spiritual blinding takes place. When you are spiritually blinded, you lose the ability to discern right from wrong and good from evil. It’s

similar to having a blindfold over your eyes and being unable to see the world around you.

In the spiritual world, sin metaphorically causes a buildup of scales on a person’s eyes. The buildup of sin gets so deep that a person can no longer see clearly. They are lost in their sin. Many people are unaware of their sin or unable to admit their sin.

This is why our world is filled with intense hatred. Hatred so deep and bitter that it makes a person murder because they covet another’s belongings. Hatred so overwhelming it makes a person torture another because they hold different beliefs. Imagine a heart so intensely dark that it gains pleasure in the suffering of others.

Do you feel glad this isn’t you or your family and friends? However, sin is sin. In Luke 6:42, Jesus says, “How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye” (ESV).

Think before you pass judgment on others. "
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me."

PSALM 51:10 ESV

We are born with a sinful nature, but most sin does not happen overnight. Often, sin starts with a muddy, cloudy area in your heart that you know is wrong, but still unwittingly justify why it could be alright. At first glance, the sin appears glamorous and even romantic. Beware—it promises destruction. When you are living in that murky area, you can become blinded by that very alluring sin. You become literally and figuratively blinded by sin. Your new normal becomes filled with excuses, lies, and hypocrisy.

We see this on the news every day with increased situations. It becomes normal to shake our heads and throw up our hands in defeat. Everyone has gone crazy, but what about your own life? Do you judge people based on their skin color? Do you treat people differently based on their worth or what they can give you? Have you gotten angry at someone because you can’t have your own way?

Instead of getting mad at the news and secluding yourself from it, try watching the news and praying for those you see on the TV. Pray that their blind eyes will see. Pray for those seeking attention through the use of profanity. Pray for government officials who establish agendas that go directly against the Word of God. Pray for the protesters who follow the crowd without understanding the issues they fight against. Pray for fair reporting of the news. Pray for our teachers, leaders, and TV hosts.

NONNA’S CHUCKLE:

Recently, my daughter stepped out of the kitchen, momentarily leaving her three children eating lunch at the table. When she returned, she chuckled when she spotted her five-year-old sitting in the corner. “Oh, I’m sorry. Did I punish you?”

“No, but while you were gone, I stuck my tongue out at my brother,” her daughter said. “I’m not supposed to do that. So I punished myself and sat in this chair!”

Oh, to have the heart of a child and to understand right and wrong!

Most of all, pray for your own heart to be sensitive to God’s Word. Pray for the knowledge and strength to choose good over evil and right over wrong. Pray for wisdom to make wise, godly choices and help those in your path to draw closer to God. Pray for a keen awareness and knowledge of the control of sin and the awesome understanding of the power of the cross. Think before you pass judgment on others. Seek discernment when studying the Bible and pray that biblical truths would come alive. Your relationship with God should never be inconsequential. It should be cherished! Pray as David did: Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:10 ESV).

Don’t put it off. Ask God to reveal sin in your life and for a pure heart that treats others with love.

GOD MADE YOU TO BE YOU

Growing up, your parents, teachers, and other influential people may have told you to be the best you could be. “Do your best, be your best, be who God made you to be.” Who does not want to be the best version of themselves? You may have asked yourself how to accomplish such a lofty goal.

Focus on the following four things to determine and validate who God desires you to be.

1

FIRST—PUT YOUR FOCUS ON GOD.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need (Matthew 6:33 NLT). Look to God to help you be the best you can be and put your best foot forward one step at a time with His guidance. Be yourself. Accept who you are and love yourself as God loves you. Be who God made you to be. He will not direct you to be anyone He didn’t intend you to be. Do not listen to friends who

2

attempt to lead you away from who God wants you to be. When you try to live your life like someone else, you will never be your best. You can only be a second-rate version of that other person. You will not feel satisfied, fulfilled, or have peace in your life as another person.

SECOND—TRUST GOD KNEW YOU BEFORE YOU WERE BORN.

He knit you in your mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). Do not live in fear because you are not perfect. God knows you are not perfect and still loves you for who you are. We are a work in progress. The psalmist penned, Your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me (Psalm 139:10 NLT). He reminds us we are wonderfully complex! [God’s] workmanship is marvelous (Psalm 139:14 NLT). For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago (Ephesians 2:10 NLT). When you

put your faith in God, He gives you the gift of the Holy Spirit, who, as your Helper, will direct your path according to God’s master plan.

THIRD—BELIEVE GOD CREATED EACH ONE OF US WITH A PURPOSE IN HIS MASTER PLAN.

Since the beginning of time, God desired a relationship with each of us. Pray and tell God you want to be in relationship with Him. Psalm 16:11 teaches us He will make known our path in life and fill us with joy in His presence. We are instructed to help others, teach them the way God wants us to live, and love them the way God loves you. “You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:14,16 NIV).

Lastly, commit to doing your best. The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:10 that, by the grace of God, we are who we are. Colossians 3:23 (NLV) tells us, Whatever work you do, do it with all your heart. Do it for the Lord and not for men.

How you see yourself affects your happiness, selfimage, relationships, successes, and failures. It affects everything you do. Satan, our enemy, wants to distort the very image of God within us. You are not defined by what people say or the mistakes you’ve made. God—your Creator—made you. He designed you before you took your first breath. He continues to sanctify us as we walk in relationship with Him.

God wants you to be your best. Read His word for confirmation and grow in the fullness He made you to be. You may be surprised. Enjoy life as you discover who God made you to be.

MUSINGS ON THE BOOK OF JOHN Jesus Speaks

John 5:16-46 (NIV)

So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man.

“Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned. By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.

“If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true. There is another who testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about me is true.

“You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. Not that I accept human testimony; but I mention it

that you may be saved. John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you chose for a time to enjoy his light.

“I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to finish—the very works that I am doing—testify that the Father has sent me. And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

“I do not accept glory from human beings, but I know you. I know that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him. How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

“But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me.”

Howoften have I wished to hear the voice of God, to know what it was like to hear Jesus’ words as He spoke them? Well, here it is! This scripture is pure quotation. There are two topics here that are full of His heart toward us. They are spoken as an answer to the Jewish leaders’ persecution and the challenge of His authority (claiming God as His Father v 17-18) over the man-made, established religious structure.

If I am seeking to do as Jesus did, then I will be obedient to God’s examples: n Jesus…

o did just as His Father did; what the Father does, Jesus does also.

o is so completely one with His Father that He cannot do anything alone.

o is shown all His loving Father is doing, so Jesus is fully “in the know.”

You and I are promised to be shown “even greater works” (John 5:20 & 14:12) that we may “marvel” (a good verse to read for other ways of translating “amazed”). I must get my mind around this—the marvel is gnawing at the edges of my soul.

Jesus is God in the flesh, and He lives out for us how to live for God and be one with God by demonstrating God’s power of love.

He promises His listeners that the works they have seen so far are only the beginning. They shall all marvel. Truly marvelous.

God’s love is key here. This is the phileo love. Defined as “being used to,” or “fond of doing,” “to sanction” or “approve.”

n God, the Father…

o approves of Jesus.

o is fond of doing for the Son.

o is used to doing.

o sanctions the Son, o shows (deiknyo) the Son everything He is doing.

Deiknyo means “giving metaphorical evidence,” or “showing by words or deeds,” “to the eyes.”

If I want to see God and see Jesus, I need to receive His love.

Jesus, these few words You spoke, recorded for me to hear, have entered my heart 2000 years later. Your Word is truly alive. That alone is something to marvel at. We who have eternal life have it because it is Your desire for us. It is Your gift to give. I can desire it for another, but only You can give that gift. I can tell people about the gift You gave me, but You must draw them to You, and they must receive it from You.

There You were so long ago, and here You are still.

n Salvation in the midst of Your own people.

n Some despise You, hate You, want You dead.

n Some long for You, desiring Your gift they need to receive.

n You speak to them all so that some who will receive may hear.

n One day,

All dead will hear Your voice. All dead will rise.

Those who reject You when they hear You will have judgment.

Those who received your gift will rise to eternal life, judged in You.

Now is the time for gift-giving, sharing, and hope deployment.

Lord, at the end of Your earthly life, in that upper room with Your closest friends, You prayed for me (us) when You prayed for those yet to come. You prayed that we would be one as You are one with the Father. This is so that we can be shown how You are working—so we can know how to act and what to do.

No wonder the enemy uses division to fight against You.

Lord, make us one. One with You. One in thought and action. Obedient to Your vision. Marveling at who You are.

Lord, let me do as Jesus did That I may do as the Father wants me to do. Lord, I am to be amazed at Your works, You want me amazed.

Jesus, You give life to whom You wish. You are responsible for all judgment. When I honor You, I honor the Father. Hearing You believing You is eternal life

Jesus, Son of Man, Jesus, Judge,

Jesus, You understand both God and man. All dead or alive,

His people! Oh, hear the voice of the Son of Man!

A Focus On Him

Come As You Are

The Yellow Pond Lily (Nuphar Lutea) is beautiful when in full bloom. Before it blooms, the bud is mysteriously round in appearance, prompting an eager desire to discover what is inside the packaging. The question looms: Will it disappoint us? Or will it pleasantly surprise us when it opens? We wait with deep anticipation to see if its blossoms are more beautiful on the inside than on the outside.

I love capturing photos of the pond lily in the different stages. When I looked at the enlarged photo of this particular lily, I was horrified to see it consumed with big bugs. I anticipated the transformation of this stunning beauty, only to find it was rotten on the inside, loaded with insects! I was so disappointed. In my mind, it was now an ugly and defective flower.

In spite of the bugs, God still used that imperfect flower to transport oxygen to its roots and soil. It still exhaled methane gas from the pond sediments, providing substantial benefit to the surrounding ecosystem. This pond lily provides a habitat for fish and food for a wide range of aquatic invertebrates, insects, snails, birds, turtles, crayfish, and organisms that graze on its leaves, gnaw on stems, and eat its roots. It is serving its God-given purpose.

At that moment, I was reminded that I too was ugly and defective on the inside because of bugs—sin—in my life. And yet, God loved me so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the price for my sins through his death on the cross. He gave me the choice to accept, trust, and come to Him just as I was, unclean, imperfect, and rotten to the core. God didn’t want me to have to wait on my ability to clean up my act. He knows I don’t have that kind of power. No, He wanted me to come as I was so that HE could clean me up. I am now a workin-progress. While God works on me from the inside out, I am able to serve Him with my God-given purpose for His glory and honor!

Thanks to Adam and Eve, we humans are all born with a sin nature. We are therefore defective inside. But God, who made us and loves us, gives us purpose. He knows our potential, sanctifies us, and establishes our testimony in Him.

God desires that we come as we are. He wants us to be willing vessels. Then He cleanses us, transforms us, and uses us and our stories to serve and glorify Him. Praise be to God!

God, who made us and loves us, gives us purpose.

RELATIONSHIPS & INFLUENCES

Who are your friends? My husband and I have prayed for godly friends and couples for our 33+ years of marriage—couples who want to be together, respect each other, and love the Lord. The key word is godly: like-minded couples with whom times of fun—even silly times—can quickly turn to spiritual conversations with no judgment or competition, just pure-hearted friends lifting each other up and enjoying each other’s company, regardless of what we do.

Our recent move, which uprooted us from friends, again brought this prayer to the surface. As we’ve prayed for new friends for both us and our girls, we’ve seen God answer through several couples. This is a good reminder of how gracious God is. We should never stop praying for godly people in our lives. Those influences are real and have a severe impact, both as a couple and individually.

We have friends who are on the same spiritual level, and others we are mentors to or are mentors to us. How each relationship develops and grows is unique. It is necessary to identify the purpose for which God has brought lives together and not prejudge the role God has in each friendship. Know that can take time and is a process we shouldn’t rush.

As we look at our girls and pray for God to surround them with godly influences, seeing them struggle in different life phases is painful. However, it’s encouraging

We need friends, and they need us to hold each other accountable.

to know they now recognize the importance of the people they hang with, who can lift them up or pull them down. When neither seems apparent, it usually results in being pulled down because staying status quo and stifling growth equates to being pulled down. As stated in Proverbs 27:17, As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend (NLT). Finding others with the same foundation and outlook on life, especially spiritually, is crucial in all relationships—whether in groups or oneon-one. We should always be spiritually growing!

Realistically, life can be an ebb and flow of adjustments, which may create unhealthy relationships and lifestyles. Our girls are at a stage where the shift of friends getting married, having babies (or wanting babies), or

Church volleyball group celebrating on a Sunday afternoon

moving can cause unexpected changes in their relationships. People and priorities change. Only time and prayer will reveal who to focus time and attention on throughout the different phases of life. The question becomes: Are we to adapt to the changes or let go? One good guide is found in Proverbs 12:26, The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray (NLT). May we see each motive clearly and discern the difference. We can trust that the Holy Spirit will guide us when we study God’s Word and listen to Him.

One of our girls has made some pretty drastic changes in her life centered around this principle. God spoke; she listened and obeyed. She began to appreciate the influence others have on her and she has on others. She also started to recognize the significance of her witness to those around her and those watching from a distance. Her question became: Are my actions drawing the right friends? What a great question to ask!

The opposite of this equation can be to lean toward isolation. When first dating or newly married, it can be easy to draw close only to one’s significant other, and some try to live life totally on their own. But we are meant to do life with others; we are not created to be islands unto ourselves—either individually or as a couple. We need friends, and they need us to hold each other accountable and become the best versions of ourselves.

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

HEBREWS 10:24-25 NLT

Satan wants to tear you down and tear you apart from those who matter. Let us never forget that Jesus states in John 10:10, “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” (NLT). The enemy wants to keep you from those who remind you whose you are! Let’s not forget! Good, godly friends will constantly be there to remind you who you are in Christ. That gift is priceless.

Abundance, Hope, and a Future

Choosing Joy in Disappointment

Life has a funny way of throwing us curveballs, doesn’t it?

Recently, my husband planned a little adventure to one of our favorite spots, Wekiwa Springs, near Orlando, Florida. He bought a kayak last Christmas, and we were finally going to try it out. With the car loaded down with coolers, towels, and sunscreen, Buddy, Austin, his friend, and I were on our way for a fun-filled day on the water!

But… things didn’t quite go as planned.

We left the house later than expected, around 7:00 AM instead of 6:00. I was the first to wake up and took advantage of the quiet house to have a

cup of coffee and conversation with the Lord. I asked Him to keep us safe and bless the day. I realized how much I enjoy the peace that comes with being up with the sun, especially on the weekends when I’m not bound by early school schedules.

That was a sidebar lesson for me that day: it’s always worth getting up before my family to spend some time with Jesus!

We excitedly began the drive south to the springs and arrived at 9:04 AM. However, there was a huge line of cars—it felt like at least 150 cars were waiting to get in!

We were finally four cars away from the entrance—45 minutes

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”
CHARLES SWINDOLL

later!—when the sign went up: “Park is full.”

Now, I’ll be honest. I was a little bummed. After all, we had driven all the way there, and I was looking forward to getting the kayak in the water. But the truth is, we had a choice. We could let disappointment take over and complain about the situation or look for a solution and make the best of it.

Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.

PROVERBS 25:15 NIV

We decided to try another park that was just down the road. It, too, was full. At that point, we were all getting frustrated. We’d been in the car for hours—and it was now nearly noon.

Thankfully, Buddy remembered another spot: Silver Springs. We kept driving, and by 1:00 PM—after five hours of driving—we finally made it!

Silver Springs is a larger state park with a rental station for paddleboards and kayaks. Not only could we put our kayak in the water, but we could also rent another kayak. The plan had been to take turns, but now we could all enjoy the day together. A Godwink, I was quick to point out to the boys!

Wait for and confidently expect the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for and confidently expect the LORD.

PSALM 27:14 AMP

Silver Springs turned out to be so much fun. I’m glad we didn’t let our initial disappointment ruin it.

When things don’t go as planned, we have two options:

1. We can either let the situation drag us down, complain, and feel defeated, or 2. We can make a conscious choice to look for the silver lining and choose joy.

When we were four cars from the entrance of that first park, I acknowledged my disappointment but then chose to make the best of it. We all decided to have a great time, regardless of the circumstances. And we did… kayaking, talking, laughing, and enjoying nature. It turned out to be a beautiful day. We even saw some adorable little turtles swimming around!

When life hands us lemons, we can make lemonade—that is, try to make the best of things. The reality is that there will always be situations outside of our control. The car may break down or our plans won’t go as expected. In those moments, the only thing we can control is our reaction.

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” ~ Charles Swindoll

The next time you face disappointment, remember it’s okay to feel down for a moment, but then, choose joy. Choose to trust God. He’s always with you.

Often, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how well things turn out.

SONS of the KING

Who’s Planting, Anyway?

Whatyou have been privileged to do as a Son of the King, as a co-heir with Jesus, is plant and build. God has given to each of us a metron, and it is within the realm of this metron that we each are master planters. Yet the world would have us believe that as Men of God, what you are planting is in competition with what your brother is planting. The world at large has become fascinated with planting bigger and better, excessiveness with little focus on the beneficiaries. All of these matters are futile, Sons of the King; they matter not if we do not understand that all that really matters is that God makes the seed grow. Our text is clear in reiterating that it is not important who does the planting or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.

As Sons of the King, you are planters in God’s garden of greatness, and God is not worried about who is planting, where you are planting, or if the platform is big enough for you to be seen planting. NO! God is interested in your embracing from the very depth of your soul that whether you are the planter or the waterer, Son, you and your brothers are working together for the same purpose. The works that God has placed at your hands are for kingdom planting, building, and growth. The reward of what comes forth is not just for you, but it is for all. The planter and the waterer are both God’s workers, God’s field, and God’s building. The planter and the waterer are both God’s incubators for the Kingdom! Therefore, Sons of the King, you have been graced by God to be expert planters and waterers. Sons of the King, you have been graced by God to plant and water a foundation that will be the very foundation for the future of God’s Kingdom.

So who is planting, anyway? It matters not to God, because He is the seed grower to that which has been planted on fertile ground. So plant, my brother! Water, my brother! Glorify God in all that you do for Christ and not yourselves. Let the seeds you plant and water unify rather than divide, and build up rather than tear down, in Jesus’ name!

So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor.

For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.

Through Merci the eyes of

Merci Rivers desires to be a light in this dark world, which sometimes means putting aside societal norms, stepping out of the crowd, and walking in true obedience to God’s Word. She knows she can do all things through Christ, who strengthens her (Philippians 4:13).

Read “Through the Eyes of Merci” from the beginning, starting in Voice of Truth: 11th Edition, Quarter I, 2023. All editions are available at www.womenworldleaders.com.

Bride of Christ

Merci draws a knit shawl over her bare shoulders to ward off a cool morning breeze. Nearby, an elderly man strums a familiar love song on a worn guitar as the sun peaks from behind the horizon.

Mom would totally soak in this view, Merci thinks as worry casts a shadow over the tender thought. Her mother was learning to live with multiple sclerosis. God, should I go home to be with her?

Three men in garden party attire step from a log cabin. Pastor Dan leads, followed by Clive—the man of the hour, and Xavier— Merci’s boyfriend. They make their way across the wooden deck and position themselves at a wooden arch framing an expanse of Kentucky mountains.

Several guests appear from a side staircase and take their seats around five tables adorned with succulents.

Merci turns when Ms. Fuller approaches. “This is all because of you,” the mother of her former roommate whispers with a sly smile before dabbing a tissue to her eyes.

“This is all because of the redeeming love of Christ,” Merci whispers back, marveling once again at how God can take simple acts of obedience and use them to change lives.

“Without your kindness, this would never have happened.” A tear slips down the woman’s cheek.

How times change. Merci remembers Ms. Fuller’s threat during their last exchange: “Hurt Belinda, and I hurt you. Don’t forget that.” But God had intervened and renewed their hearts as only He can.

Belinda, Merci’s dear friend and mentee, sashays through the tables in a primrose vintage dress made of tulle. She pauses in front to receive a bundle wrapped in a crocheted bunting—her niece—and then takes her place opposite the men.

The guitarist strikes the opening chord to the “Bridal Chorus,” and Pastor Dan says, “Please rise.”

At the staircase, Baxter clutches a bouquet of flowers. She’s breathtaking. Satin and lace swish across the wood as she smiles and greets several of her friends. It doesn’t seem possible she gave birth to a baby girl just four weeks earlier.

Chuckles and a few ooohs rise from the crowd when the bride reaches over to kiss the baby, who Belinda cuddles in her arms. Then, Baxter joins hands with Clive, and they turn to face the minister.

Pastor Dan clears his throat. “Family and friends, what a glorious morning for a sunrise wedding.”

Merci feels like her heart might burst. God, I cannot even handle how incredible Your goodness is. You took a guy steeped in mischief—seemingly intent on loving every woman he encountered—and a woman meandering down a path of destruction, and You crossed their paths with another couple trying to figure out what it means to love and serve You. I’m so humbled by Your favor.

“The Bible uses the covenant between husband and wife to illustrate the love God has for His church. Those who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior are called the bride of Christ.”

NO MATTER THE CHALLENGES THIS LIFE MAY BRING, YOU ARE NEVER ALONE.

When Xavier and Clive began praying for Baxter’s salvation months earlier, the future groom did not know that Merci and Belinda, Baxter’s younger sister, had already been sharing the gospel with his future bride. Somehow, in three short months, God intertwined their friendships and transformed their lives.

“The exchange of rings is a reminder of the covenant made today before God, an eternal commitment of unity between man and wife.”

BUT GOD HAD INTERVENED AND RENEWED THEIR HEARTS AS ONLY HE CAN.

Merci eyes Xavier. He’s so handsome in his white dress shirt, khakis, and suspenders. She loves his humble confidence and is now happy that he and Clive developed a strong friendship. God allowed her to see Clive’s growth and delivered her from so much animosity toward him. She closes her eyes and breathes in the crisp air. God, You are so, so good.

“Clive, please take the ring, place it on Baxter’s finger, and repeat after me.” Momentary laughter morphs into groans when Clive drops Baxter’s ring, and it lands across the gaps in the decking. When he raises the ring high, having victoriously rescued it from the fall, cheers and clapping erupt. He dramatically swipes his forehead in relief when the ring is safely on Baxter’s finger. Laughter rings out again.

“Baxter, please take the ring, place it on Clive’s finger, and repeat after me.”

Xavier’s eyes lock on Merci’s, and she chuckles when he winks.

God, is it possible Xavier is the man you prepared for me? Could I be the right helpmate for him? She pushes the thought aside. Her mother needs her, and Merci wants to be available. Lord, help me not to rush Your timing. Help me to be content being Your bride for now.

“I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Clive Tellermann!” Pastor Dan announces. The audience claps and cheers as the newlyweds turn to face them. When Baxter reaches up for a kiss, Clive cups her back and dips her into a dramatic ballroom pose. Their friends go wild.

The guitarist strikes a loud chord, quieting the ruckus.

“Wasn’t that amazing?” Xavier speaks sheepishly into the microphone, shifting from one foot to the other. “Congratulations, Clive and Baxter!” Applause fills the air once again. “I hope you don’t mind if I piggyback on the festivities.” The newlyweds smile with consent.

A shiver runs up Merci’s back, and she sits up straight as Xavier looks across the crowd into her eyes.

“Merci, we met seven mere months ago, but I can’t remember a time without you in my life.” He drops to one knee and fumbles into his front pocket. “You are my person. I want to build a life with you. Will you be my helpmate?”

If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are the bride of Christ. Isaiah 54:5 says, For your Maker is your husband—the LORD Almighty is his name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth (NIV).

No matter the challenges this life may bring, you can be assured you are never alone.

God is with you. He is compassionate and loving and bestow[s] on [us] a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair (Isaiah 61:3 NIV).

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience (Colossians 3:12 NIV).

Don’t forget to come back next issue to learn Merci’s answer.

Healing Heart Soul and

Gratitude and Prayers in Difficult Times

They say thankfulness is the quickest path to joy, and boy, would I love to have an infinite supply of joy at my disposal. The supply would be great to refill my internal cup when I am running low or going through a difficult time.

Joy parallels happiness, and we all yearn to be happy, right? Some of us have been fortunate enough to experience joy often, while others have experienced many not-so-joyous times. The reality is that we live in a time when so many unfortunate things are happening. From global health issues to tough economic times, there is much to be concerned about.

While we understand that difficult situations will arise, coping and getting through them is usually not a happy occasion. I know all too well what it’s like to endure rough patches in life, and I’ve learned a secret to navigating through with peace, grace, and even a little joy.

The secret to navigating rough patches is to give thanks, remain grateful for all you have, and pray without ceasing for all that is troublesome.

You may think there is little to be thankful for amid your difficult times, but know there is always something to be

I CHALLENGE YOU TO WALK WITH FERVOR AND PEACE."

grateful for. And prayer changes things. The fact that you are alive and able to read this article proves that.

Psalm 103:2-5 (NIV) says, Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

How can you express gratitude in your time of need when things don’t seem to be going your way? You must be committed to deciding each day to choose peace, to find moments of joy, and to praise God for His goodness. It is easy to live in the pain of our circumstances, but what would it look like if we changed our perspective? How might it change our mood if we began to count our blessings instead of our sorrows? What could it hurt to hope for a brighter time or to reflect on a time from the past when you were happy and at peace?

Learning how to intentionally find the positive or to remain grateful in a negative situation takes practice and dedication, but the reward for doing so is great! Here are some prayers to help you to maintain a grateful mindset:

n “Lord, I don’t know why I am experiencing hardship or why there are so many problems that people are facing at this time, but I ask You to guide us through with favor and strength and help us to rebuke fear of

the unknown. My mountain appears to be great, but Lord, I trust that no mountain is too large for You and that You have the power to help me get over my mountain. Amen.”

n “Dear Lord, while I am waiting for my breakthrough and better times ahead, I am praying for patience, peace, and comfort. Please help me to quiet the noise that produces worry and concern so that I may listen to Your voice and focus on Your promises. Amen.”

n “God, many things seem to be going awry in my life right now. As such, it is difficult to be optimistic and hopeful, but I am trusting You to mend the broken things in my life. Please help me focus on what I do have and the ways You’ve held my hand in the past. Just like the footprints in the sand, please walk with me, and when I am at my lowest, please carry me. Amen.”

n “Dear Father, please help me relinquish control over all the things I cannot control. I know that You are mighty and don’t need my help. I am praying that You cause me to remember to put my trust in You versus trying to fix things on my own. Amen.”

As you walk through your test, I challenge you to walk with fervor and peace, knowing that God is sovereign and wants the best for you.

Remember Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV): Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

A Beautiful Mess

My three kids are all teenagers, and lately, I have found that keeping them close and near to me and our home environment is not the best path to prepare them for life in the real world. I was talking to my son the other day about the analogy of a mama bird in a nest with her baby bird. I was letting him know that I love him so much that, as a good mom, I am going to begin to make the nest uncomfortable for him. I will be putting less padding in the nest, not bringing him the worms anymore, and soon, I will need him to exercise his wings so that when the time comes, I can gently push him out of the nest.

I asked my son, “Do you know what happens to the baby bird when he gets pushed out of the nest?”

His immediate, very serious response to me was, “Sometimes the bird dies!”

I was slightly startled by such an immediate negative response—my mind pictured a beautiful baby bird learning to flap his wings and start to fly. I kind of chuckled and saw my son was not joking; there was genuine fear that some birds (or kids, in his perspective) would break their necks or get eaten outside the nest. I immediately validated his concerns and reminded him of the positive potential, which is that the bird learns to soar!

This encounter with my son reminded me that there is such a delicate balance between nurturing and letting go, protection and preparation.

I have spent years pouring my heart into educating my children, providing a safe, faith-filled environment where they can grow academically, spiritually, and emotionally, just as a mama bird builds her nest with so much care. I have created a foundation of biblical views, knowledge, and life skills so

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
PROVERBS

22:6 KJV

they can succeed in life. But just as the baby bird is not meant to stay in the nest forever, our kids are meant to take flight into this world—confidently and prepared! It is our job to prepare them for this by helping them stretch their wings. This process could look like giving them more responsibility for their personal learning or allowing them to pursue personal interests or engage in real-world issues on a regular basis. It is our job to provide guidance, but we also need to encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making on their own.

One of the most challenging moments in homeschooling is when it is time to release our kids to the world, whether that means college, career, or another calling. My time with my children in the nest is drawing close to an end, and if I do not help them stretch their wings and learn to fly, I will have failed them.

Would I love to keep my kids close by forever? Sure, but that is not good parenting. Good parenting is raising God-loving, kind, successful humans who can leave my nest and excel or soar on their own.

There will be no greater joy for me as a homeschooling mom than to see my kid step confidently into

the world, grounded in faith and equipped for life. Will I sob, cry, and have all the feelings? Absolutely! But that is the greatest calling for us as homeschooling parents: not to keep our kids disconnected, in a bubble, and afraid to leave our home, but to make it so they shine and soar and impact the world for Jesus when they leave.

This process takes time! I encourage you, even if your kids are in grade school, that it is not too early to have this long-term goal in mind. Little things like teaching your kids to cook by your side or make their own lunches allow them the opportunity to make mistakes and see that it is necessary to try again. These are the things that eventually build confidence to excel later on their own.

Releasing our kids can be scary, but we can trust in God’s plan for their lives. Proverbs 22:6 reminds us, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it (KJV). Homeschooling is not just about academics; it is about preparing our kids to live out their faith and fulfill their God-given purpose! To let them soar!

THERE IS SUCH A DELICATE BALANCE BETWEEN NURTURING AND LETTING GO.

SECRET HIS TABERNACLE of

Everyone has been a prisoner of fear at one time or another. The idiom “Making mountains out of molehills” perfectly describes me. I have a history of over-reactive behaviors, making too much of a minor issue. This pattern of thinking has been and still is, at times, a struggle for me. It can be overwhelming and debilitating. But God promises in Psalm 91:1-2, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust” (NJKV). So, I run to the shelter of His shadow.

When I was baptized, I stood in the water with two pastors. Shivering as they lowered me into the water, I could hear the guest pastor speaking words of knowledge over me, “Those mountains you continually come up against are going now, and the peace that only God can give is coming to take their place.”

Suddenly, I was completely unaware of anything but the presence of peace and warmth that surrounded me. They pulled me out of the water and laid me on the floor to bask in His presence for quite some time. I will never forget those life-changing moments of being hidden in His tabernacle.

For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in his pavilion: In the secret place of his tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in his tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

PSALM 27: 5-6 NKJV

Two words of this passage stood out to me as I drew this picture: tabernacle and pavilion. A pavilion is a shelter. Tabernacle, in Hebrew, means dwelling place. God desires to bring us into His very dwelling place. Joy is the secret of His tabernacle. As we offer Him a sacrifice of joy and praise, even when things are ugly, He helps us to let go of negativity and focus on His goodness.

In the face of the challenges and uncertainties of this year, I know God will make a way where there seems to be no way. I choose to focus on His goodness.

And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year, “Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”

And he replied. “Go into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God, That shall be better than light and safer than a known way!”

Beside Still Waters

The oceans may roar, even try to sweep me away

The foundations may fall and crack wide open, attempting to swallow me whole

But… I will love and trust You

And I will praise You through it all

My heart burns for You

No matter what is happening in my world and in my circumstances ~ I will love You

The valleys may be deep and dark at times

But… You are with me

Your Word promises me You never leave my side

The desert may be dry and desolate

But… You guide my every step

I only have to focus my eyes and heart upon You

Your care and love for me never fails

A special, sweet love You have for me, Your daughter, Your child

The apple of Your eye

Yes, the storms may continue to rage

They come and they go

This is the earthly journey of life we must walk

The waters rise and they fall

And at times we are hanging on for dear life

in a raft tossing us around amongst the craziest rumbling of waters

But… I will sing and praise You through it all

No matter ~ I will love You

For all my days I will trust and honour You!

For You are my eternal love and I belong to You!

YOUR WORD PROMISES ME YOU NEVER LEAVE MY SIDE."

Ever Interceding

IN HIS TIME

Sincethe writing of my article in VOT, Edition 14, our pastor and his wife lost yet another child, three in total. As a congregation, we cried, prayed, and grieved with this anointed couple. Through it all, they never lost hope and knew the Lord had a plan in all of it.

On May 6, 2024, Alicia announced at our monthly Elder’s Wive’s dinner table that they were again expecting. OH, the joy that flooded our souls that evening. We had a sweet time of praying together that evening, interceding together for Alicia. We rallied together as a church to start praying for the baby in her womb.

A week later….

May 13, 2024, at 10:24, I received the following text:

Good morning, Elders & Sonflower Sisters!

So, I know Alicia and I shared with you last Wednesday the exciting news about our little one on the way.

There's a part we left out.

We still didn't have confirmation on Wednesday, so we wanted to wait until our ultrasound on Friday. We also wanted to share this exciting news with our families over the weekend.

So, without further ado...

God has given us a double blessing. We currently have two healthy little ones with strong heartbeats and measuring well. We still have a long road ahead, but we're hopeful and grateful! With it being twins, there's a good chance we may have a nice Christmas present this year.

The Lord gave not one but TWO babies! We were over the moon. We encouraged our church to set an alarm for 12:01 PM to pray daily for the babies, who were being fearfully and wonderfully made in the womb. (By the way, many of us also have an alarm set on our phones for 3:20 PM to pray for WWL.) The “Gents,” as they are affectionately called, were born December 23, 2024. This was THE best possible Christmas gift for our pastor and his wife.

God answers prayer in many ways, including yes, no, and wait. We must trust that He has our best interest in mind. I would like to highlight some truths about how God works and how He answered this prayer request.

Truths from the Word on answered prayer:

n God hears our prayers. Hannah conceived and bore a son! (In this case, TWINS.)

For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him (1 Samuel 1:27 ESV)

n The Lord may be silent, YET He is always working for our good. We need to be ever interceding. Trusting. Clinging.

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent (Exodus 14:14 ESV).

Before they call, I will answer; while they are yet speaking, I will hear (Isaiah 65:24 ESV).

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28 ESV)

n God’s timing in answered prayer is perfect.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV).

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! (Psalm 27:14 ESV).

n God wants us to maintain a prayerful heart.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV).

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving (Colossians 4:2 ESV).

n The Lord will answer our prayers in ways we never dreamed.

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us (Ephesians 3:20 ESV).

n Intercessory prayer is powerful.

And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9 ESV).

Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints (Ephesians 6:18 ESV).

What are you waiting for the Lord to answer?

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.

EXODUS

14:14 ESV

We see throughout Scripture how God works through prayer. He answers according to His will and perfect timing.

Our prayers are important to God; they matter! We may face doubts, delays, and even “no’s” in that process, yet we must continue to trust and draw close to Him. May we continue to lean on God and walk boldly in our faith, trusting in His willingness to meet our needs in His time.

RED CARPET READY

SOMETHIN’ WRONG IN THE MIX!

In the fall of 1991, I was a senior in high school. YIKES, that was a while ago! My mom and I had plans to get our hair done! Ooolahlahh… change that to Ooohnooooo!

We got in the car, ready to enjoy our time together, and arrived at Stuart’s School of Hair Design. We each got our hair washed and were seated beside each other to get our hairdos done. My mom was going to get her hair “frosted,” and I was going to get my roots colored. Now, let me point this out: we were about to trust our hair in the hands of STUDENTS. Can you feel some trouble comin’ on?

tears, and she began freaking out, which made me freak out even more!

I said, “You gotta get this off my head!”

That little stylist and I ran like Pentecostals running around the sanctuary, and we arrived at the bowl sink for her to wash my hair.

A student slapped a rubber cap on my mother and started to yank her hair through the holes so only certain strands would be colored. My girl had my entire head accessible to her young hands. I sat in the chair as she returned to me with a bowl of hair color and began the application process. About 20 minutes later, I began to feel something kind of tingly. I began to hear something like a sizzling sound. Then I began to smell something kind of smokey!

I said, “Mom?! My head is cooking!!!”

As she was washing, some of my hair was coming out in the sink. As she was towel drying, my hair was breaking off like grass being mowed with a weed wacker! That’s not all…the hair color took to some of my hair and left patches of uncolored hair! That sizzling sound was my scalp being burned! My hair wasn’t really hair anymore. The stylist and her teacher were looking at me with horror. The teacher said, “There was something wrong in the mix. I think it’s all gotta go.”

WHAT?!?!?!

My mama came to me and held my hand as the power tool started shaving my hair. I insisted on keeping my bangs, but the rest had to go. She couldn’t shave my hair completely because a scab was developing on my scalp. By the time she was done, my once long hair looked like a shaved, multi-colored pattern of a disgraced hyena! My mom tried telling me that it actually looked cute, but I didn’t listen.

Abram and Sarai added Hagar in the mix. Still today, the world is feeling the burden for their decision!

When I inadvertently or willfully mess up God’s plan by adding my own schemes, what do I do? I repent and ask the Lord for course correction, knowing that I will need to carry out the fruit of that decision.

Thank God for JESUS and His blood through which He offers us His grace. When we go to God, He will clean up our messes and maybe even bless us through the process, despite the fact we may have to deal with the repercussions of our messed-up mix.

WHEN WE GO TO GOD, HE WILL CLEAN UP OUR MESSES.

We walked out of that experience not having to pay for our ‘dos. Then, Mama took me next door to a jewelry store where she bought me several pairs of earrings so I could at least “Feel like a girl.” It was quite the day.

There have been times in my walk with Jesus that have become complicated because I added some things to my life that didn’t belong, making “something wrong in the mix.” I must be careful not to add “extras” in my life that don’t belong because I’m not meant to carry the result of those extras.

So Abram had sexual relations with Hagar, and she became pregnant. But when Hagar knew she was pregnant, she began to treat her mistress, Sarai, with contempt. Then Sarai said to Abram, “This is all your fault! I put my servant into your arms, but now that she’s pregnant she treats me with contempt. The LORD will show who’s wrong—you or me!” Abram replied, “Look, she is your servant, so deal with her as you see fit.” Then Sarai treated Hagar so harshly that she finally ran away (Genesis 16:4-6 NLT).

My hair eventually grew back, and I got to keep the new earrings!

Red Carpet Ready

¡ALGO ANDA MAL!

¡Ooolahlahh...! ¡Cámbialo a Ooonono!

¡Luego empecé a oler algo ahumado!

Songs Spirit from the JOY

Joy.

Such a fun little word. We hear it all the time. Who doesn’t want joy?

But often when we speak of joy, we are really speaking of happiness. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines happiness as a state of well-being and contentment. In other words, it is fleeting and changes with our circumstances. I just bought a new truck, which made me happy. When it got its first scratch, I wasn’t feeling very happy anymore.

Joy is not affected by circumstances. Joy is a lasting emotion that comes from trusting God and His good will for our lives. Romans 8:28 says, And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose (ESV). God’s Word is truth. This truth births hope, and from this hope, we can have joy in all circumstances.

BEFORE DAVID DANCED AND SANG, HE PRAYED FOR GOD’S MERCY AND HELP.

I’ve witnessed God’s faithfulness in my own life countless times. When we let God use our testimonies, we will always find that what we see as our story really was for His glory. Our Savior truly turns trials into testimonies. In Psalm 30:12, David prays that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent (NIV). The enemy can try to steal our joy and use circumstances to derail our faith, but he cannot steal from what God has promised or derail the plans God has prepared for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. In the world, we know trouble and heartache will seek us out. But what does Jesus tell us in God’s Word?

“Take heart because I have overcome the world.”

JOHN 16:33 NLT

It’s not easy to sing God’s praises when we are fighting back tears. Honestly, worship is often the last thing I want to do in those moments. Before David danced and sang, he prayed for God’s mercy and help. I imagine that his next step of dancing and praise took a lot of courage. God can make anything happen in an instant, but He often gives us an opportunity to exercise a little faith. I’ve always had to start singing before the healing power of the joy of the Lord can set me free. I imagine it wasn’t too different for David. But God is faithful and inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3). The ESV version says it this way: God is enthroned on the praises. The word “enthroned” describes the act of sitting, remaining, or dwelling somewhere. Worship brings God’s presence to sit with us. In [his] presence, there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11 ESV).

The song I want to share with you is entitled “Joy.” It was inspired by a woman named Dana Cryer. She had every reason to be bitter, broken, and angry. But God! Some of you may have already read her book (Who Is Able?: The Dana Louise Cryer Story) and know her testimony. Her joy and love for the Lord are contagious and got me thinking about the breadth of God’s faithfulness. No matter what difficulties we go through, we can know they won’t last forever. God’s promises give us hope.

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5 NKJV). What a beautiful reminder for us when we go through hard times. God keeps every promise He makes.

From a very young age, Sara dreamed of sharing God’s word through music and word. As a child, her favorite quote was “I love Jesus, and the devil is an idiotic brat.” Through many ups and downs that dream has become a reality. To write for WWL and have an online ministry is a dream come true for her.

Sara enjoys writing not for the million readers, but for the one in a million that needs to hear what she wrote.

Sara’s favorite part of ministry is coordinating worship nights and making space for women to come lay their burdens at Jesus’ feet. She is a published author with WWL and sings with her church along with other women’s ministry teams. She credits God’s never ending relentless love for all she has today.

Sara resides in Jupiter, Florida, with her family. When she isn’t writing, she can be found scrapbookingand paddle boarding. Her music is available on her website, sarasahmmusic.com.

God at Work through Women Leaders Yesterday and Today

Power Points : PAULA

was a woman who would not be held back from fulfilling God’s call on her life. “Paula, although nearly unknown today, can be considered the mother of the best western translation of the bible for 1,000 years. She was part of a circle of aristocratic 4th century women who were tired of their lives of gossip and intrigue, so instead put their education and minds to work in the study of Christianity.”2

Paula was born in Rome in 347 AD to a noble family that could trace its lineage back 700 years to the early days of Rome and included many famous statesmen and generals. She married an equally high-born man whose ancestors included Julius Caesar, and, together, they had five children.

Paula grew up in an in-between period. In 313 AD, Emperor Constantine had issued The Edict of Milan,

which legalized Christianity and ended the persecution of believers. In 380 AD, Emperor Theodosius declared Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire. Since being a Christian was now socially acceptable, Paula considered herself a believer, but she did not have a genuine faith until her husband died and she was left to care for her children. Then she met a fellow widow named Marcella, a devout believer and faithful student of the Bible. Paula joined Marcella’s Bible study, and her faith began to grow. Marcella introduced Paula to Jerome, a theologian and Bible scholar. Already familiar with Greek, Paula entreated Jerome to teach her Hebrew so she could study the Scripture in their original languages.

After years of studying with Marcella, Paula’s eldest daughter, Blesilla, converted to Christianity and joined the group. She also studied Hebrew and was growing strong in faith when she died just

a few months later. Paula was overwhelmed with grief, yet she became convinced that God had a new purpose for her life. He was calling her to move to the Holy Land.

Paula, although later declared a saint, was far from perfect. When she left for the Holy Land, she abandoned three of her children—the youngest of these was probably only 5 or 6 years old. Today, we are appalled by such a neglectful mother; however, Jerome thought this showed her devotion to God: “On the shore the little Toxotius stretched forth his hands in entreaty, while Rufina, now grown up, with silent sobs besought her mother to wait till she should be married. But still Paula's eyes were dry as she turned them heavenwards; and she overcame her love for her children by her love for God.”3

Paula and her daughter, Eustochium, spent their first year in what was then called Palestine, visiting the biblical sites. Jerome, who had moved to the Holy Land several months before, served as their guide. After the tour, Paula and Eustochium began to work with Jerome on his Latin translation of the Bible. He would give them his manuscripts and ask for their criticism and suggestions. Jerome wrote of Paula, “Wherever I stuck fast and honestly confessed myself at fault she would by no means rest content but would force me by fresh questions to point out to her which of many different solutions seemed to me the most probable.”4 But Paula did not just aid in the translation, her patronage made it possible. “It was Paula who procured for him at her own expense the books and rare manuscripts which were essential to the successful execution of his work. This was no small assistance; for in those days the books and manuscripts that Jerome most needed—like Origen's Hexapla for instance—were exceedingly rare and were worth their weight in gold.”5

Despite her imperfections, we can admire Paula’s love for the Scriptures. She lived out Paul’s admonition to Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15 NLT). Jerome and Paula’s partnership yielded the Latin Vulgate translation, which is still in use today. I can only say, I would like such long-lasting fruit.

Love knows no measure, impatience no limit, and desire cannot hold back. " 1

I IMMEDIATELY FELT THE PRESENCE OF GOD.

MEET Brittany Weber FROM NEW TRIPOLI, PENNSYLVANIA

Upon receiving the magazine Voice of Truth and opening its pages, I began to get goosebumps. The front cover of edition 16 with the owl blew me away. As I looked at it, I immediately felt the presence of God lingering all around me. God totally covered me in His tangible love that day; I could physically feel it.

When I was in the world, I used to believe in the universe. I would ask it to show me an owl if I was on the right track in my life. I saw the owl many times as a confirmation of whatever I was asking the universe for.

Now that I’ve been walking with Jesus for about three years, I have been radically changed by Him. When I saw the owl on the cover, I realized that God, the creator of the universe, was speaking to me through the owl, saying, “This is where I have you and where I want you to go.”

I cannot wait to be a part of this ministry of beautiful, smart, talented, and wonderful women.

A big thank you to Kimberly Hobbs for this opportunity!

MEET Natalie Keith FROM HOBE SOUND, FLORIDA

PREPARING THE LORD TO USE YOU IN MIGHTY WAYS FOR THE GREAT HARVEST!

The scripture from Isaiah 52:7 beautifully portrays the joy and responsibility of bringing good news to the world: How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” (NIV). These words invite us to consider our role in spreading the message of peace and salvation.

Pressing into what God would have me share, He led me to the powerful cover image from the 17th edition of Voice of Truth: Jesus holding an abundance of wheat. This image represents the abundance that comes from being prepared and answering God’s call. As I prayed and sought His guidance, the message that resonated powerfully was one of preparation. God is preparing us for various transitions—whether in our personal lives, careers, or spiritual equipping—each designed to advance His kingdom. It just requires our yes and obedience.

In my journey of faith, I have come to understand the importance of seasons. Some seasons required hard work, others required rest, and still others have stretched me beyond my comfort zone. Each season served and continually serves to prepare me and build trust in God’s faithfulness. Deuteronomy 28:12 reminds us of His promise: The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of His bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands (NIV). By embracing our seasons in faith, we open ourselves to His abundance in the uncomfortable at times.

When we accept Jesus as our Savior, one of His desires is to use us through the Holy Spirit to change the world, gain ground, and advance His Kingdom. This can be uncomfortable because we must rely on Him and do things we are not used to doing! Stepping out of our comfort zones can be challenging, often leading us to resistance and sometimes complacency. This resistance should be a sign of the good work being done in us and inspire us to be the answer to the prayer in Matthew 9:37-38 when Jesus calls us to pray for more workers in His harvest field: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few” (NIV). By allowing God to prepare us, we become instruments of His will, ready to gather His harvest. He bought us with a price to do great and mighty things! The faith He has in us when we have faith in Him to do the impossible is amazing!

As we align ourselves with God’s purpose, embrace the change, and allow the preparation, our faith will grow, and we can experience the truth of Ephesians 3:20: Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us (NIV). Let us find comfort in His preparation, trusting that He is equipping us for His new work. In doing so, we participate in the gathering of His great harvest, fulfilling our divine calling with confidence. In this, we will all experience joy and peace as we have never felt before because we are fulfilling the call on our life that He created us for!!!

He bought us with a price to do great and mighty things!

MEET Dawn Connelly FROM STUART, FLORIDA

Haveyou ever met someone and felt an instant connection—as if you’ve known them forever?

That’s exactly how I felt the first time I met Kimberly Hobbs. It was at a Christian Women’s Retreat, and we immediately shared that sense of familiarity. We racked our brains trying to figure out where we might have met before—through faith groups, mutual friends, or even past events. But nothing clicked.

Later that night, I went back to my hotel room, feeling compelled to solve the mystery. A quick search on Facebook revealed some mutual friends, but the connection was still unclear. What it did reveal, though, was a powerful and moving story of Kimberly’s faith. I read about her near-death experience, falling down a flight of stairs, and how God’s plan for her life was far greater than the enemy’s. It left me in awe of her strength and unwavering faith.

The next morning, over breakfast, I sheepishly admitted to “stalking” her the night before. I told Kimberly how much her story had impacted me. As we talked, I realized how deeply connected we were in our experiences. My own son had been paralyzed in a football accident, but through God’s grace, we, too, had witnessed healing and Jesus’ miraculous touch in our lives.

The stories within Voice of Truth reveal women standing firm in their faith.

That retreat was a turning point for me. Kimberly’s testimony, the inspiring books of Women World Leaders, and the Voice of Truth magazine she shared with me left a lasting impression. The stories within the publication reveal women standing firm in their faith and calling as they create a community to encourage each other to grow in God’s purpose for our lives.

I often think of the women who stood at the foot of the cross, who anointed Jesus’ body and were the first to hear the news of His resurrection. It was the women who were entrusted with the greatest message ever shared. God has created women with a powerful capacity for faith and community. Voice of Truth reflects this, shining the light of Jesus and inspiring women around the world. I encourage you to not only read this publication but also to share it with others so we can continue to grow in faith together!

MEET DaQuanya Hanson FROM RIVIERA BEACH, FLORIDA

My name is DaQuanya Hanson! I was born and raised in Riviera Beach, Florida. I have a heart for God, His people, and His creation. I was brought up in a Christian home by my single mother, Deidra, along with my younger brother, De’Vario—both of whom have gone home to be with the Lord.

One night, while at a house fellowship, I was introduced to Women World Leaders by a sister in Christ. She shared how she believed WWL would be a ministry I should connect with. After checking out their website, I signed up for their women’s event at just the right time, which has impacted my life.

During the event, they spoke about writing in a book, which has been a desire and dream of mine. I believed this was God giving me an opportunity to step up and out, no longer being afraid to share my testimony of how I overcame many obstacles at an early age to care for my brother after the loss of our mother.

The opportunity to write in a book and become a published author has encouraged me to keep writing

and believing that all things do work together for our good. Women World Leaders has become a place of encouragement for me through the voices of so many inspiring women who truly walk in the ways of Jesus. After hearing so many overcoming testimonies, I now feel even more confident about writing and sharing my story with other women.

The Leadership Connects and Prayer Zoom calls WWL hold each month have helped renew my mind, empowering me to go forth with boldness and truth. I better understand the importance of seeking God’s kingdom and His righteousness. As a result, I am experiencing more of God’s love and mercy throughout my journey.

Through grief and pain, the Lord healed my heart. He also gave me a vision to nurture “What’s Your Seed Ministries,” a ministry dedicated to serving inner-city kids by sharing The Good News through creative outlets and expressing the love of Jesus through offering meals, clothing, and words of encouragement to the homeless—whom I call “future homeowners.” During my free time, I enjoy driving near the beaches in my camper van, painting, writing, connecting with friends, and sharing hope, joy, and laughter with the broken and forgotten. Being sensitive to the Holy Spirit every day is an adventure for me. I am always ready to let my light shine.

MEET Crista Albritton Meadows FROM WAYCROSS, GEORGIA

Do you believe in divine appointments, connections, and/or relationships? You know, those God-ordained moments in your life that you know (THAT YOU KNOW!) only God could orchestrate?! Well, meeting Julie and Kimberly with Women World Leaders has definitely been one of those divine connections for me! In January, I reached out to World Publishing with the intent of inquiring about the potential of publishing my second book, which I am currently in the process of writing. I was just doing my homework, so to speak, not realizing that God had bigger plans than just a phone call to ask questions about publishing a book. Immediately, when Julie called me on the day of our appointment, we connected. The conversation just flowed with the Spirit of God leading her to share so much more than a publishing opportunity, but also about Women World Leaders ministry. I was overwhelmed that this Christian publishing company had a ministry attached to it, and I wanted to hear all about it. I love ministry, and I love women’s ministry. The more Julie shared, the more my spirit within me began to leap with great joy and gratitude. God was answering some of my long-awaited prayers in this one conversation. Our conversation was so God-ordained and Spirit-led that I wept as I shared my story and heart with Julie. As Julie was sharing the mission and purpose of Women World Leaders, I couldn’t help but see God’s hand in leading me to connect with this ministry. God knew my heart’s desire for women’s ministry and to be a part of a global women’s ministry. Over the last 3- 4 years, I have received prophetic words that the ministry and calling on my life would be global and involve women. In that moment, the tears flowed over the phone with Julie as I shared that with her. Before the conversation was over, Julie kept saying to me, “I need you to talk to Kimberly. You need to meet Kimberly.”

IT IS AMAZING WHEN GOD SUDDENLY OPENS DOORS."

Julie quickly arranged a phone call for Kimberly and me to meet each other. That phone call was nothing short of a Godordained connection as well. Kimberly and I immediately both knew it was God inspired. I was extremely emotional that day talking with Kimberly on the phone. She kept telling me I was a leader, God was blessing me for my obedience, and how much God loved me. I was extremely overwhelmed at those words as I knew God was using her to affirm and confirm my Godordained destiny. I was so humbled and grateful as I realized the faithfulness of our God to lead us to others who can help lead us to our next right steps on our journey. Kimberly also shared

more in depth about Voice of Truth and mailed me a copy within days of our call. I was so excited to read it! In this particular edition, one of my dear sisters in Christ, Michelle Tascoe, had written her story—it was an extra special blessing for me that my first Voice of Truth was the one in which she had shared her testimony about her precious Leo.

Within two weeks after my phone call with Kimberly, I attended the Kingdom LeadHership Conference at Hutchinson Island, Florida. At this conference, I was able to connect more with her and other ladies within the ministry. This was a powerful weekend that I know God led me to for such a time as this. Kimberly and I bonded as sisters in Christ. There is such a special connection between us that I know God has orchestrated. I look forward to all God will do through this continued connection with Women World Leaders.

It is amazing when God suddenly opens doors of opportunity to connect with others for the sake of advancing His kingdom work. And I certainly believe this divine appointment with Women World Leaders is one of those for me.

Kimberly asked me to interview for the podcast in February; I was able to share my healing journey from an unexpected divorce after 28 years of marriage and ministry. I will also be a contributing author in the upcoming book, Kingdom LeadHERship. The possibilities are endless with God. He is working in the details of our lives, always leading, guiding, and orchestrating His good plans for us. God cares about the details. The details reveal the greatness of our God!

I’m so excited to receive each new edition of Voice of Truth! Women World Leaders is changing lives one woman at a time, and I’m so thankful to be a part of it!

A MESSAGE OF HOPE THAT ECHOES FROM MEDINA, OHIO, TO THE NATION OF UKRAINE

It was February 16th. All over Northeast Ohio, the beautiful snow was hiding a freshly frozen layer of ice from the warm rain the day before. Natalia and her husband Miroslav were making the brave trek from North Royalton to Apple Creek, Ohio, to visit my church and meet my older sister and her husband, who is also Ukrainian like them.

Natalia and Miroslav are new to the US as refugees, having fled the war in Ukraine. Their son Nazar married my niece Ariel in October 2024 in Ivana Frankifsk, Ukraine. She is the firstborn to my family by my older

brother John and his wonderful wife, Tanya Lynch. The groom’s parents and I joined in via Zoom, with tears and some major fear of missing out, as you can imagine.

John and Tanya served in Kharkiv and had to flee when the Russian invasion started in February 2022. They landed in Ivana Frankifsk after spending some time in Romania helping with refugees, food distribution, and spreading the gospel as people fled for their lives. That is where my niece met her now husband, the son of these beautiful people who were driving in less-than-safe conditions to come worship with us and meet their new extended family.

I live a good 45-minute drive from our church and had a car full of kids as I slowly drove toward Apple Creek. Natalia called me and told me what she thought their ETA would be, but she wasn’t sure if it would be wise to proceed. They then decided it was going to take too long and was unsafe, so they made the decision to turn around. Not

even 15 minutes later, she called me screaming, extremely alarmed because they lost control and the car was in the ditch, having barely missed a street sign.

A woman came to her yelling, and she handed her the phone for me to translate; this, my friends, is where God had us divinely meet Kimberly Hobbs.

Kimberly took Natalia and Miroslav in and helped them get a tow truck. I was relieved and proceeded with my own trek to the church. Then, I received pictures of Christian books and a wonderful selfie of my Natalia and Miroslav with these wonderful good Samaritans who welcomed them into their home. Lo and behold, God moved mightily. With the help of Google Translate, they had their own little church service in Kimberly and Ken’s living room, just like scripture says in Matthew 18:20.

Once I was able to connect with Kimberly about her side of this amazing experience, she said she could hear screaming outside but wasn’t sure if it was an animal or someone in distress, and being the brave woman she is, she decided to investigate in her pajamas. Natalia said to me that she didn’t even know why she reacted the way she did, screaming after their car went off the road. She told me her husband did a great job, but she couldn’t

SOMETIMES, IT TAKES A STRANGER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR THE LORD TO GENTLY REMIND YOU THAT YOU HAVE GIFTS THAT NEED TO BE EXERCISED."

stop because she was so overwhelmed. “That’s when we concluded God can use our screams for His purpose and glory.”

You might be asking yourself by now, “Who are you, the person writing this account down?”

My name is Christiana Joy Musarra. I am the third born to Bill and Joanie Lynch, who moved us across the world in 1993 to be missionaries to the former Soviet Union. I am a Christ follower, a wife, a mother, and a small business owner in Northeast Ohio. When Kimberly asked me to write this, I protested a little and kept saying she needed to connect to my sister and brother in Ukraine or my niece, who does youth ministry, working to bring in the harvest of souls amidst the bombs and war that has been raging on now for three years. Through prayer and some gentle nudging from our heavenly Father, I realized I should write this for you, dear reader, for hope echoes. It echoes from the icy, snowy roads of Ohio to the bomb-ravaged country of Ukraine. That Hope is our beloved Savior, Jesus Christ.

I really love how the Lord gives us these gifts. Sometimes, it takes a stranger your in-laws meet on the side of the road for the Lord to gently, through his children, remind you that you have gifts that need to be exercised. God brings them forth in the most unexpected, unconventional ways. His goodness amazes me all the time.

I spoke with my sister Tanya to get a glimpse into the lives of women in Ukraine as they navigate this horrendous time in their country. What she shared shook me down to my bones, at the same time emboldening me to keep pushing that all should have a relationship with Jesus. What a reward we have to know Him, to walk with Him, to talk with Him.

Tanya said she feels like she is living in a WW2 movie. Someone is celebrating a birthday as bombs go off in the distance. Husbands are torn from their families to go fight. However, she said, the war has united people in many unexpected ways. Neighbors who otherwise wouldn’t have talked or even known each other are uniting to help in any way possible. A lot of the older women are rallying together to help the wounded as they bring hope, knit and sew blankets, and make supplies for the needs of others. They cook warm meals for men on the front lines, most of the time with no power, really rallying together.

Some have questioned, “Why? Why would you stay?” Tanya said the women who stay do not want to leave their loved ones, cannot afford to have their men smuggled out of the country, or wonder: If I leave, who will stay and do all that needs to be done for our country? A lot of the women from the Donestks Oblast and the Kherson Oblast who lost everything to the invasion or flooding that took away their homes, belongings, and even their husbands and loved ones said, “If I lost everything to find Jesus, [it would be worth it]. He is the ultimate treasure to me.”

It shakes you. It emboldens you to love Him just a little more, doesn’t it? Deep calls to deep. The world can take everything away, but it cannot take away your faith—the hope that abounds in Him and tells us that through Him, we can do all things.

Earlier, I mentioned my niece, Ariel. Her husband’s parents brought us all together, to where you sit reading this, dear reader. Ariel is also mightily joining in the harvest—with the youth. Her husband Nazar is a walking medical miracle who continues to navigate some tricky health issues and could use your prayers. They are reaching the queers, goths, and young people from all walks of life, setting up Christian escape rooms that share the gospel and offer salvation at the end. The art and expression of this new generation is something to behold, and whenever I get an update in the form of media or written word, I feel the Lord’s anointing on this ministry, and it renews my hope. Hope for the future. Hope for the new generations navigating this big, beautiful, crazy world we live in.

In closing, I would like to embolden and encourage you, dear reader! There is never a time better than right now. We all are navigating through things in our lives, but there is no better time to share His love, hope, and the gospel of our dear Jesus Christ than now. Like Jesus told us in Luke 10:2 and Matthew 9:37, He fills us up so we can give it away. He is gentle, and He is loving. He invites you to join in. He won’t pressure you. He is the truest gentleman. His hope is alive and well—it echoes all over the world.

Thank you

Sincerely,

WHAT A REWARD WE HAVE TO KNOW HIM, TO WALK WITH HIM, TO TALK WITH HIM."
