6 hours a day 5 days a week, us young people are in education. Our education plays a key role in our lives. We find our education to be a main source of our knowledge as we believe that what is in our curriculum is true, factual and honest. Growing up in a curriculum, even an education system, that doesn’t acknowledge our existence creates a prominent disconnect with not only our learning but also with our peers.

Society is evolving. Our generation is more socially and politically aware than ever before, and yet, education doesn’t seem to be keeping up. English classes will let us study a single black poet and expect students to be grateful. Here's the thing: we are not pleased, this is not enough. As a key factor in shaping us as individuals, education must advance alongside our world that is changing for the greater. At One Bristol Curriculum, we are forging a future where young minority ethnic students feel seen and know that they belong here.
