Dear El Monte Union Community,
El Monte Union Celebrates Class of 2025 WITH SPIRIT AND PRIDE
More than 1,850 students across El Monte Union were celebrated during spring commencement ceremonies featuring cultural tributes, student performances, and fireworks.
Graduates from the Class of 2025 are heading to top universities — including Yale, Georgetown, Stanford, USC, UCLA, and more — while others will pursue community college, trade programs, the U.S. Armed Forces, or dive directly into the workforce. Students were recognized for earning honors such as the State Seal of Biliteracy, California Scholarship Federation Gold Seal, and the QuestBridge National College Match and Edison scholarships.
El Monte-Rosemead Adult School launched graduation season on May 28, followed by a cheerful Alohathemed ceremony at Granada Adult Transition Center and a commencement at Fernando R. Ledesma High School on June 5. That evening, all five comprehensive high schools — Arroyo, El Monte, Mountain View, Rosemead, and South El Monte — honored their graduates, with El Monte High School celebrating its first commencement at its newly modernized athletics facility.
Ceremonies included valedictorian and salutatorian speeches, tributes to late community members, and presentations of cultural flags representing each graduating class.

As we celebrate the end of the 2024-25 school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the tremendous growth, perseverance, and success that unfolded across our campuses—culminating in a powerful season of celebrations for the Class of 2025.
This spring, our seniors rose to the occasion, earning college acceptances, trade program placements, military enlistments, and scholarship awards that will open doors to exciting futures. Through senior award nights to commencement ceremonies, El Monte Union had the honor of recognizing their achievements and the many personal journeys that brought them to this milestone. Their hard work reminds us of the strength and resilience our students carry into the world beyond high school.
Throughout the spring, students led with purpose and creativity—hosting financial literacy fairs, advocating for civic engagement, raising awareness through service projects, and showcasing their talents at Visual and Performing Arts festivals and CIF athletic championships. These moments were not only a celebration of student success but also a reflection of the safe, inclusive, and empowering environments fostered by our educators and staff.
I am deeply grateful to our certificated and classified employees for ensuring our students finished the year strong. Your commitment to equity, engagement, and excellence was evident in every classroom, every campus event, and every student success story.

STUDENT-ATHLETES SHINE, Win League and CIF Championships
El Monte Union student-athletes celebrated a remarkable year, earning league titles and achieving championship success across a wide range of sports.
Arroyo High School’s boys basketball team brought home the CIF Southern Section Division 5A title with a thrilling win over Rosemead High School in an all-District final. South El Monte High School also made a strong postseason push, advancing to the semifinals and helping El Monte Union High School District (EMUHSD) secure three of the four semifinal spots in the division. Rosemead High’s girls basketball team added to the District’s success, reaching the Division 5A championship game after an
impressive playoff run.
In spring sports, South El Monte High School’s softball team clinched the Mission Valley League Championship. Meanwhile, student-athletes from all five comprehensive high schools excelled at the Mission Valley League Track and Field Finals—earning personal records, medals, and league titles that showcased the strength and determination of EMUHSD athletics.
From the court to the field, El Monte Union’s studentathletes continue to shine, demonstrating the grit, talent, and teamwork that define the District’s athletic programs.

El Monte Union is making significant progress in modernizing District facilities, thanks to funding from Measure D and Measure HS bonds and additional District resources, with bold improvements set to continue into the 2025-26 school year.
As part of its ongoing enhancements Districtwide, EMUHSD celebrated the grand opening of its new Family and Community Engagement Center on March 26. The center will serve as a hub for parent workshops, community resources, and multilingual support, strengthening school-family partnerships and supporting student success.
Additionally, on April 16, the District broke ground on the transformation of its Rosemead Center Adult Education Complex, which will feature a two-story expansion, modern classrooms, upgraded infrastructure, and extensive site improvements. The renovated campus will continue to house both the Adult Transition Program and El Monte-Rosemead Adult School, providing enhanced spaces for adult learners.

On March 6, Mountain View High School took center stage with its dynamic 2025 VAPA Showcase, hosted by the Viking Informational Systems Technology Academy. The event featured live mural painting, music ensembles, solo performances, theater previews, and culinary artistry—an inspiring celebration of student expression and innovation.
El Monte High School continued the celebration of student creativity during its annual Art Showcase on May 1, featuring a vibrant collection of paintings, sketches, mixed media, and digital artwork. The event drew strong support from students, families, and staff, celebrating the talent and artistic expression across all skill levels.

Demonstrating its deep commitment to family engagement, El Monte Union continues to invest in meaningful programs that equip parents and guardians with the tools and resources needed to support student achievement.
Rosemead High recognized dedicated parent volunteers on March 27, honoring their continued support of students through a cap and gown ceremony, certificates of completion, and a celebratory reception. Arroyo High School followed with its recognition event on May 23. These celebrations marked the completion of a 10-part workshop series that spanned the fall and spring semesters, covering topics such as college and career readiness, school safety, and enrichment activities. Earlier in the spring, families from Mountain View, Montebello, El Monte City, and Rowland school districts gathered for the annual Parent Involvement Academy on March 7. The event featured hands-on workshops, community resource tables, and a community breakfast and lunch, aimed at equipping parents with tools to support student success while fostering connections across districts.

Students Champion Advocacy Through AWARENESS, FINANCIAL LITERACY, AND CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
Student voices took center stage in April as El Monte Union campuses embraced advocacy, inclusion, and civic engagement through impactful events. Mountain View High School launched its first-ever Financial Literacy Fair on April 10, providing students with hands-on lessons in money management. At El Monte High School, the community gathered on April 12 for the third annual Autism Awareness Walk-A-Thon, raising funds and support for The Autism Community in Action. From April 14-25, all
six EMUHSD schools participated in California’s High School Voter Education Weeks, with student leaders across campuses leading classroom discussions, launching social media initiatives, and creating interactive displays to encourage voter registration. These efforts exemplify the District’s deep commitment to empowering students and promoting advocacy at every level.
