The Messika story, or rather, the Messika saga, began in 2005 when Valérie Messika launched her Parisian jewelry Maison. As the daughter of the renowned diamond dealer André Messika, who has been supplying the jewelers of Place Vendôme with exceptional gems since the 1970s, Valérie was immersed in the world of diamonds from an early age. A passion for gemstones and the brilliance of high jewelry took root within her, and her destiny seemed clear: she would dedicate her life to the diamond and its endless possibilities. The eternal stone has always guided her decisions, and it was this deep connection that ultimately propelled her brand into the spotlight.
Kendall Jenner. The entire world eagerly anticipates every new collection.
“A diamond is never as beautiful as when it’s in motion.”
Valérie Messika
Today, Messika dazzles across the globe, with the Maison continually surprising and captivating. Celebrities are fans of her designs—from Beyoncé to Rihanna, Nicole Kidman to Naomi Watts, and brand ambassadors like Kate Moss, Gigi Hadid, and
The Move collection, with its signature bracelet, became an instant icon. The story behind the design is poetic: three diamonds, each symbolizing a different chapter of commitment—yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The diamonds slide freely within a clever setting, a moving representation of love’s eternal and everevolving nature. These three identical stones symbolize love’s constancy, gliding along the unpredictable path of life. With Move, Messika redefined the engagement diamond, giving it depth and a modern twist. It’s no longer just a token of promise; it’s a celebration of commitment—a piece for every day. Valérie Messika once said, and it’s this very idea that continues to drive the brand forward, making diamonds more dynamic, meaningful, and wearable than ever before.

How do you ensure that you and your team are meeting residents’ every need?
We prioritize open communication with our residents. Regular feedback sessions and personalized service allow us to anticipate needs and promptly address concerns, ensuring a tailored experience for everyone.
What is the most exciting part of your job?
The most exciting part of my job is the opportunity to create memorable experiences for our residents. Whether it’s organizing events or introducing new services, seeing their joy and satisfaction is incredibly rewarding.
What’s your favorite amenity?
My favorite amenity would have to be the spa. It’s a serene oasis that offers unparalleled relaxation and rejuvenation, perfect for unwinding after a busy week.
What’s the most interesting encounter you’ve had thus far at the Estates?
One memorable encounter was hosting a charity event where I met a resident who shared incredible stories about their travels and philanthropic work. It was inspiring to connect with someone who embodies the spirit of community and giving.
How is living at the Estates at Acqualina a step above the other area luxury high-rises?
The Estates at Acqualina offers an unparalleled combination of service, amenities, and attention to detail. From our world-class exclusive indoor and outdoor amenities, lobby designs by the legendary Karl Lagerfeld, and a breathtaking panorama of the Atlantic Ocean and city, every aspect is designed to elevate the living experience to extraordinary heights.
If you had to encapsulate the Acqualina lifestyle in one word, what would it be?
Opulence. It perfectly captures the luxurious lifestyle and exquisite experiences that define living here.
THE MANSIONS AT ACQUALINA HAS A NEW LIFESTYLE CONCIERGE, REUBEN TRANE AND HE MAY BE NEW TO THE MANSIONS BUT HE IS CERTAINLY NOT NEW TO THE ACQUALINA FAMILY! REUBEN WORKED AS A CONCIERGE AT ACQUALINA RESORT BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO HIS NEW ROLE AT THE MANSIONS. BORN AND RAISED IN NEARBY CORAL GABLES, REUBEN’S VAST KNOWLEDGE OF ALL THINGS MIAMI IS ONE OF THE MANY THINGS THAT ALLOW HIM TO DELIVER SUPERB SERVICE AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO HIS RESIDENTS.

Can you tell us what a Lifestyle Concierge at The Mansions at Acqualina does?
To create a lifestyle among the residents that appeals to all, while activating the spaces throughout the property. To do this, I plan social events and fun activities to enhance the day-to-day experiences on property. I also assist with the standard concierge requests, no matter how elaborate or mainstream. I am here to create a vibrant community!
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Interacting with the residents and getting to know them. Once I know them, I can then personalize my interactions and my services. I also enjoy putting on events and tapping into my creative side. I recently worked on our first Mansion’s Haunted House Event for Halloween. It is fun to see our younger residents get excited!
What is the most interesting request you have received thus far?
So far, nothing too out of the ordinary here at The Mansions; however, previously I have brought in an array of exotic animals to a guest room once. It was just after Covid, and the guest was recovering from surgery and wanted something unique to experience in their room. I worked with the Miami Zoological Foundation and was able to round up a monkey, a lemur, a gibbon and a couple of exotic birds. It was WILD!!!
How is living at The Mansions at Acqualina unique?
The team is what makes this property unique. There are many residential properties with their own amenities in good locations, however none of them have the AMAZING team that I work with daily. And this is not only my opinion—it’s the continuous feedback I receive from our residents.
What is your favorite thing about The Mansions?
The people. Both the residents and my co-workers.
If you were to move into The Mansions, where would we find you hanging out on most days?
On the beach or in the ocean surfing on a good day!

Can you briefly explain what a Food & Beverage Manager does?
We oversee all food and beverage operations, including restaurants, bars, room service, and event catering, ensuring seamless service across all venues. This includes training staff in fine dining etiquette and advanced service techniques; collaborating with chefs to create exquisite menus that highlight seasonal ingredients and culinary trends; interacting with guests to ensure satisfaction, handling feedback, and customizing experiences to meet individual preferences; monitoring budgets, controlling costs, and driving revenue through strategic pricing and promotions while ensuring profitability; and making sure we are adhering to health, safety, and quality standards, as well as maintaining the resort’s brand image. In short, we maintain and exceed the high service expectations of a Forbes-rated establishment, ensuring every guest receives top-notch service.

Culinary passion, a love for being creative, interaction with people, cultural exploration, and career opportunities. A love for food and cooking can inspire individuals to explore the culinary arts and hospitality and express one’s creativity with the opportunity to create unique dishes, craft exceptional cocktails, and design memorable dining experiences. Also, the chance to connect with guests, create enjoyable experiences can be very fulfilling. The fast-paced nature of the industry, with its constant challenges and opportunities for growth, is exciting.
What are your top 3 favorite meals at Acqualina Resort?
Nicoise Salad
Grilled Octopus
Butterfly Branzino
Top 3 beverages?

How do you accommodate guests with very particular dietary needs? Do you have any examples?
I use very detailed communication and engage with guests at the reservation stage to gather information about dietary restrictions or preferences. This ensures the staff is prepared ahead of time. For example, a guest may mention they are gluten-free when booking a table. The restaurant notes this in their reservation system and prepares gluten-free options in advance. We also offer personalized menus or dishes that cater to dietary restrictions, ensuring the options are equally appealing. One way we do this is with vegan guests: our chefs can create a special tasting menu featuring innovative plant-based dishes that showcase seasonal ingredients. Extensive staff training on dietary restrictions and flexibility in modifying dishes are also key here.
Which menu items are you most excited about for this season?
I love our seasonal seafood dishes which include fresh catches like branzino or snapper, often prepared with citrus and local herbs and showcase the flavors of the region. We also offer hearty salads which are not only visually appealing but also packed with nutrients, making them satisfying and healthy meal options. Garnished with spiced seeds or a drizzle of olive oil, they can be a comforting and seasonal starter.
How are the menus at Acqualina both healthy and delicious?
We emphasize seasonal, locally-sourced produce—which ensures that dishes are flavorful and nutritious, enhancing both taste and health benefits— and offer a variety of dishes that include lean proteins, whole grains, and plenty of vegetables. This allows guests to enjoy balanced meals that are satisfying and good for them.
We also utilize healthier cooking methods, such as grilling, steaming, or roasting instead of frying, which maintains flavor while reducing calories and unhealthy fats, and we use herbs, spices, and citrus to elevate dishes and add depth and excitement without relying on heavy sauces or excess salt.
Lastly, serving appropriately sized portions helps guests enjoy a variety of dishes without overindulgence, promoting moderation.
What’s Acqualina’s philosophy when it comes to food? We emphasize using the freshest, high-quality ingredients, often sourced locally to enhance flavor and sustainability. And our focus is on culinary craftsmanship, with skilled chefs dedicated to creating innovative and beautifully presented dishes that reflect both traditional and contemporary influences. Our menus are often inspired by seasonal produce, allowing for a dynamic dining experience that highlights the best flavors of each season.
What’s more, the culinary offerings often reflect a blend of international flavors, showcasing the diverse culinary landscape of the region while maintaining a distinct Mediterranean flair.
If you had to choose, what would be your last meal on earth? In my personal opinion, French cuisine is an art, and it’s very hard to choose just one food item however, Duck à l’Orange would be my last meal.
I use very detailed communication and engage with guests at the reservation stage to gather information about dietary restrictions or preferences. This ensures the staff is prepared ahead of time. One way we do this is with vegan guests: our chefs can create a special tasting menu featuring innovative plant-based dishes that showcase seasonal ingredients.

Plush carpets that encourage kicking off your shoes and settling in. Sleek, yet irresistibly comfortable, furniture that doubles as sculptural art. Modern bathrooms dripping in marble and covetable amenities. An eye-catching light show from every ceiling. And most importantly for vacationers, an expansive private terrace that offers breathtaking views of the ocean. This is what guests are treated to in a new three-bedroom suite on the 31st floor of Acqualina Resort & Residences On The Beach that’s drenched in Italian refinement.
For those discerning guests who desire an indulgent stay with family or friends, the expansive suite overdelivers on design, space and comfort.
The new suite exemplifies Acqualina’s commitment to offering an unmatched stay for guests, particularly those who are looking for extra room without sacrificing style, says Acqualina CEO and Partner Deborah Yager Fleming,
“We collaborated with designer Isabel Tragash, principal of STA Architectural Group, and Virgilio Mariano, founder of Ideal Casa Italian furniture, to curate spaces that call to our coastal surroundings yet stand out with sophisticated elements that resemble a high-design villa in Europe.”
Step inside the entryway that extends to two separate living areas, where a soothing neutral backdrop permits ocean views to shine. Spaces are dotted with Ideal Casa Italian furniture which extend both rich heritage and contemporary design, inviting one to take another look: from a statuesque console with walnut drawers and silver finishes — a perfect nook for getting work done or serving cocktails — to a modern upholstered Italian sectional meant for gathering and conversation. In the main living area by the terrace, a sculptural sideboard and fluted coffee table with a bronze glass top feel more like a piece of art; and guests will want to sink into the duo of velvet diamond-designed “Alison” armchairs or relax on the new Miami sofa-bed made in Italy that imbues the color of the beach below. Abstract 4DaSoul rugs, aptly named “Mosaic Calm,” combine the soft sheen of viscose with an elegant finish of New Zealand wool, adding coastal calm to the spaces, while crystal octagonal table lamps and two metal LED “Fiama” chandeliers by Sean Lavin are a preview of the suite’s parade of standout lighting.
Sleek wood cabinetry is paired with durable yet luxurious Italian Lapitec stone countertops and a waterfall bar in the full gourmet kitchen, providing all of the amenities one needs to cook a meal together. The nearby dining room features a circular Casa Spin Dining Table with a central steel column that’s uniquely wrapped in a fullgrain leather in a spiral pattern, which is edged by wood dining chairs with enveloping backrests. The table is anchored by a diamond-shaped “Everest” pendant by Elan Lighting, an ideal spot for soaking up those ocean views – which are further emphasized by coastal artwork. The nearby bar stools mimic the dining chairs, and are also architectural in nature, distinguished by a curved oak structure with a sinuous design.
A crystal Possini Euro Design Vesta ring pendant dazzles in the primary bedroom, where millwork, white sateen linens and a duvet cover edged in a champagne trim and elegant drapery invites guests to linger in bed. Especially with the incredible views of the Atlantic Ocean that can be seen from the bed, or on the private terrace. Tragash of STA Architectural Group bathed the primary bathroom in more Italian-meets-coastal elegance, with gleaming Italian marble flooring, that’s echoed in the glass-enclosed shower fit for two, a textured wallcovering, and a stunning Vena Di Oro marble-top double vanity flanked by sconces.
The suite’s other bedrooms also feature the same luxuries, including more inventive lighting — and the third bedroom showcases twin beds for families or friends traveling together and vistas of the Intracoastal Waterway.
The new suite not only offers the luxury of space, but no matter which room guests are in, they’re treated to the same amount of opulence and avant-garde details. says Yager Fleming,
But guests will tell you their favored space is the sprawling outdoor terrace that offers the feeling of floating on the azure water — a perfect spot to sip morning coffee as the sun rises over the ocean, or toast to another night of staying in this suite sensation.
ESPA and Acqualina Spa offer a wellness haven with the ultimate in skincare and spa experiences, right on Miami’s beautiful shores.
By Jenny Starr Perez
Every stay at Acqualina Resort & Residences should include one essential experience: a day at the spa. After all, relaxation and rejuvenation are the keys to fully embracing the luxury lifestyle. Acqualina Spa, a Five-Star retreat set against the tranquil oceanfront of Miami Beach, offers world-class treatments that not only relax the body but also restore balance to the mind and spirit. The Spa partners with trusted skincare brands, including ESPA and Swissline, and here we spotlight the luxurious offerings of ESPA.
For more than 30 years, ESPA has been a pioneer in luxury skincare, blending nature’s finest ingredients with cuttingedge technology to create products that work holistically to nourish, protect, and rejuvenate. Their global reputation for excellence in wellness makes them a perfect fit for Acqualina’s award-winning spa. As ESPA’s Marketing and Digital Director, Gemma Marshall embarks on a personalized spa journey at Acqualina Spa, she gets a firsthand experience of the transformative treatments and holistic approach that make the Miami spa so exceptional.
ESPA’s mission has always been to create products that support overall well-being—balancing body, mind, and spirit through the senses, says Gemma Marshall, Marketing and Digital Director at ESPA International.
Our partnership with Acqualina reflects that mission. We create tailored experiences that leave guests feeling not only refreshed but truly transformed.
Acqualina Spa, recognized by Forbes Travel Guide and USA Today as one of the world’s leading luxury spas, is built on the philosophy that each visit should be a journey. ESPA products play a critical role in delivering that experience, combining the best of ancient therapies and modern skincare advancements. Whether guests are enjoying a facial, massage, or full-body treatment, the power of ESPA’s products elevates every service offered at the spa.
One of the spa’s signature treatments is the Thermal Journey, which integrates ESPA’s renowned products in a multi-sensory relaxation process.
The Thermal Journey is designed to bring the body into a state of deep relaxation. It’s a wonderful example of how ESPA’s formulations work together with the environment to create a truly immersive experience, adds Marshall.
The strength of ESPA’s product line lies in its commitment to natural ingredients and the brand’s dedication to innovation. By blending plant extracts, essential oils, and marine actives, ESPA has developed a range of products that are as effective as they are luxurious. Each formula is designed to work in harmony with the skin’s natural processes, promoting long-lasting results without compromising on purity.
At Acqualina Spa, guests can experience these innovations firsthand through customized treatments. ESPA’s facials, for example, incorporate their cutting-edge triactive products, which work at multiple layers of the skin to deliver visible, long-lasting results. “The therapists at Acqualina Spa are trained to tailor every treatment to the needs of the individual. It’s a bespoke experience,” says Marshall.
ESPA’s dedication to excellence extends beyond the treatment room. Guests can continue their skincare routine at home with the full line of ESPA products available at the spa’s boutique. From their famed Optimal Skin Pro-Cleanser to the deeply nourishing Restorative Bath & Body Oil, ESPA offers a range of products that allow guests to extend their wellness journey long after they’ve left the spa.
At Acqualina Spa, the emphasis is on customization. Every treatment is designed around the guest’s individual needs, ensuring that each visit is as restorative and rejuvenating as possible. For guests seeking a quick escape or a full day of relaxation, Acqualina’s therapists use ESPA’s powerful formulations to create an experience that goes far beyond typical pampering.
One of the core principles that drives ESPA’s product line is the power of aromatherapy. For over three decades, ESPA has used essential oils to promote wellness and balance. Their blends—ranging from soothing lavender to uplifting sweet orange—are formulated to engage the senses and evoke a sense of calm.
At Acqualina Spa, aromatherapy is woven into every treatment. Whether you’re indulging in a full-body massage or simply using one of ESPA’s oils during a bath, the effect is transformative.
As Marshall explains,
Aromatherapy is a powerful tool in aligning the mind, body, and spirit. It’s what makes ESPA’s products so unique—they don’t just work on the skin; they work on the senses.

Celebrations and meetings just got a lot more glam with the unveiling of the new ballroom and reimagined boardroom spaces at Acqualina Resort.
Located on the Mezzanine level, the multi-functional event spaces are the perfect backdrop for everything from wedding receptions and philanthropic galas to corporate meetings and private dinners.
We are constantly looking for ways to improve and offer something new to our guests and residents, said Deborah Yager Fleming, CEO & Partner, Acqualina Resort & Residences.
As a family-owned and operated resort, we remain agile and nimble and constantly innovate and bring new services and amenities.
TThe new event spaces, designed by Acqualina’s long-time partner, Miami’s STA Architectural Group were completed in December 2024. Throughout the years STA also designed Acqualina Spa, The Mansions at Acqualina, Avra Restaurant, AcquaFit and the banquet room at The Estates at Acqualina.
It’s been a wonderful journey with Acqualina over the past 20 years,
said Isabel Tragash, principal, STA Architectural Group.
Most recently to bring a fresh vision to the Mezzanine Level.
The redesign was born from paying homage to the resort’s classic old-world elegance while blending in modern touches and technology.
Inspired by the Mediterranean, the color palette features various shades of warm white with champagne and bronze metal trims. The new furniture blends contemporary style and comfort with fabric pieces upholstered in timeless black and white tones.
“The focal point of the redesign is the interplay of luxurious materials and thoughtful detailing that speaks to Acqualina’s heritage,” said Tragash. “Central to this is the custom flooring, with its large-format marble tiles and bespoke rug inserts.”
The flooring draws the eye to the color and textures in the space and the accents in champagne and bronze help subtly direct the flow of the rooms.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a more perfect setting for a celebration than Acqualina Resort voted top hotel in the country every year.
With a completely reconfigured and redesigned ballroom, Acqualina offers the perfect space and setting for all your celebratory events. The ballroom can accommodate 100 people for a reception with an adjacent terrace overlooking Acqualina’s beachfront grounds and Atlantic Ocean. The ballroom can be sectioned into smaller spaces that hold up to 40.
The new ballroom is a light, modern space layered with rich textures done in neutrals and a stunning view of the ocean outside.
From an important meeting to a private dinner, the reimagined boardroom offers an intimate space for local businesses and breakouts during conferences.
The space was transformed from a traditional room with a heavy feel to one that is filled with light and an airy feel. The furnishings are clean-lined and contemporary.
“Lighting is equally essential; we ensure that color temperature strikes a balance between warmth and optimal illumination, creating an environment that feels inviting while providing excellent visibility for meetings,” explained Tragash.
Additionally, the design seamlessly integrates the latest technology to enhance connectivity and functionality.
The redesigned spaces are tailored to enhance the guest experience by balancing comfort with functionality, said Tragash.
The updated layout and contemporary furnishings provide a more inviting and adaptable environment, perfect for both relaxation and business needs.
The new ballroom can also be converted into several smaller meeting rooms or used in its entirety for conference dinners and receptions. With its new meeting and event spaces, there’s never been a better time to celebrate your personal and professional milestones at Acqualina.
By Peter Lane Taylor
The unyielding quest for excellence and setting luxury hospitality’s highest standards for innovation are the backbone of Acqualina Resort & Residences’ DNA: from its legendary service, spa, and amenities to its spellbinding culinary journeys and architectural design. And nowhere is this commitment to the penultimate Five-Star guest and resident experience more evident than in the newly unveiled AcquaFit Fitness Center.
The recently completed enhancements were inspired by the resort’s desire to meet the strength and cardiovascular demands of today’s “peak performance” seeking guest, while also encouraging a focus on wellness, flexibility, and longevity, including all new cardio and strength workout equipment by TechnoGym’s Artis Collection along with exercise balls, resistance bands, and yoga mats.
The AcquaFit Fitness Center has also been designed in keeping with Acqualina’s interior design philosophy that it’s not just what you’re doing at the resort that’s essential to the guest experience; it’s also the ambience of the environment and sumptuousness of the setting where you’re doing it. So, not surprisingly, the oceanfront fitness facility has been re-inspired to be as visually stunning as it is state-of-the-art.
we focused on luxurious materials that are also durable,
says Isabel Tragash, principal of STA Architectural Group, one of South Florida’s leading architecture firms, who’s been designing at Acqualina for more than two decades.
Tragash and her design team also prioritized color, which has been a core element of Acqualina’s iconography ever since the resort’s grand opening back in 2006 when it debuted its trademark red umbrellas and vibrant green “Great” lawn directly adjacent to the beach.
adds Tragash., The marble we selected for AcquaFit, for instance, has this playfulness and vibrancy to it that is really special,
The color also helps to tie all of the Acqualina Resort & Residences together by bringing in the turquoise sea.
