They Did It Again! The 2009 VRPS Annual Conference in Roanoke lived up to the pre-conference billing. Our colleagues in the Roanoke Valley put on a terrific conference. On course, we have come to expect that from them. They certainly “Did It Again”! The educational sessions were outstanding. Hopefully, everyone got the opportunity to hear Dr. John Crompton discuss the benefits of Parks and Recreation and his challenge for us to reposition and re-brand ourselves in our communities. The information he shared will make us all take a second look at our programs, facilities and customers and evaluate how we should position ourselves in today’s ever changing social environment. What about those Conference Socials? The Saturday night welcome part at Landscape Supply , the Sunday “Night on the Mountain” at Mill Mountain Zoo and the Monday night “Tailgate Party” were all awesome. A good time, truly was, had by everyone who attended. Congratulations to all of the award winners for a job well done! Each year our profession continues to grow and expand, and it is evident in the programs, facilities and publications nominated for awards this year. The caliber of these nominations demonstrates the quality of the professionals involved in producing them. Again, congratulations to you all! I would like to express a special thanks to the entire Conference Committee for your hard work and excellent final product. You truly did, “Do It Again”! Mike Morris 2009 VRPS President
