The VMRC Foundation is delighted to present our 2024 Sponsorship Guide. We are grateful for the strong community partnerships we have with area businesses and nonprofits. VMRC Foundation events increase your visibility in our area and promote your commitment and support of our local community. Last year we were fortunate to work with nearly 100 sponsor organizations at various levels of support.

Our Foundation forwards VMRC’s mission to be a Christ-Centered community cultivating compassion, integrity and respect for aging well and living fully. Our primary focus is to raise support for Compassion Care funding, allowing VMRC residents who have outlived their resources to be able to remain in Supportive Living for the duration of their days. We also emphasize Community Enrichment through supporting the annual Juried Art Exhibition, Shenandoah Valley Lyceum, the Farm at Willow Run and more. Finally, the VMRC Foundation emphasizes Staff Empowerment, identifying ways to help our employees forward their careers through education and other means.

Annual events like the Celebration of Lights, Annual Golf Benefit in Honor of Diane Weaver, the Juried Art Exhibition, and Active Aging Week offer multiple sponsorship opportunities for you to partner with VMRC. Please enjoy reading how your business will receive visibility through these events.

Celebration of Lights An annual community highlight since the mid-1990s, the Celebration of Lights provides an evening for residents and community members to honor and remember those who have gone before us. The evening includes a worship service held in Detwiler Auditorium as well as an opportunity to walk through our campus beautifully dotted with luminaries. Through community sponsorships and individual appeals, this event raises support for our Good Samaritan Annual Fund. The Good Samaritan Annual Fund and Compassion Endowment provide residents who have outlived their resources with exceptional benevolent care, allowing them to live at VMRC for the remainder of their days.

We have enthusiastically supported the Good Samaritan Annual Fund for many years. This compassion funding helped care for Connie’s mother who lived at VMRC for several years. 38th Annual VMRC Golf Benefit in Honor of Diane Weaver The VMRC Golf Benefit in Honor of Diane Weaver supports VMRC’s Memory Care Endowment. This annual July golf outing provides the opportunity for a community of golfers, business sponsors and volunteers to support those living with dementia related diseases throughout the VMRC campus, as well as their family caregivers. Since 1986, VMRC’s annual golf benefit has raised more than $1.9 million.

Diane Weaver was a beloved, longtime employee and friend to many at VMRC. She courageously battled lung cancer but left us too early in August 2020. An avid golfer, our tournament was named in her honor in 2021 because of her lifelong commitment to VMRC and her desire to help create a community of hope, meaning, and growth.

One of our core values at RBI is to serve the communities that we live and work in. We are especially honored to help our clients’ charitable causes and VMRC’s annual golf tournament is a great way for RBI to help.

VMRC Juried Art Exhibition The Juried Art Exhibition offers a stunning variety of original, one-of-a-kind artworks by national artists demonstrating mastery of design, technique, and creativity using a range of media.

Beginning in 2004 as part of the VMRC’s 50th anniversary celebration, the exhibition has grown into one of our community’s much-anticipated yearly events and has featured artists from 45 states.

2024 will mark its 21st year. Organized and managed by VMRC residents, its continuing mission is to provide exceptional art in the Park Gables Gallery for the enjoyment of VMRC residents and the greater community and to affirm and strengthen VMRC’s commitment to the arts.

The Juried Exhibition enriches the lives of residents by bringing world-class art to VMRC every year. It demonstrates VMRC’s commitment to supporting the arts and artists in general and has become a vital part of the thriving arts scene in the Shenandoah Valley.

Active Aging Week VMRC proudly participates in Active Aging Week. Started by the International Council for Active Aging in 2003, this special week encourages organizations like VMRC to highlight the ways people can significantly improve the quality of their later years by staying active and fully engaged in life. Events throughout the week promote the 8 Dimensions of Wellness (emotional, vocational, physical, financial, spiritual, intellectual, social, and environmental) with stimulating educational activities, culminating with the bustling VMRC Wellness Fair on Main Street in Park Gables.

Dates: September 30 – October 4, 2024 Location: Various locations on the VMRC campus Projected Attendance: 1,000 Active Aging Week gives our community the chance to help reframe the way society thinks about aging. VMRC wants to be a model for how aging adults can act upon their own capacity to lead a purpose-filled and engaged life to pursue and optimize life’s possibilities.
