WHITE LINEN NIGHT | CRIMSON & NAVY GALA | BOURBON & BUBBLES

From the Editor
Back to School season always brings a shift. New schedules, new goals, and the sense that fall is just around the corner. Those first day photos capture the excitement, but they also remind us how quickly the year is moving.
At the heart of this issue is what makes our community strong: its people. We have built our foundation on impact and give back, and this edition reflects that commitment. From the launch of Palette Northshore with Amanda Delaup to our SuperMom feature on Caroline Bozant, the stories inside highlight resilience, collaboration, and the power of showing up for one another.
You will also find a glimpse into our Meet the Owners profiles. While limited in this issue, they are a reminder of the people who shape our community and continue to invest in its future.
Thank you for allowing us to be a resource for business leaders, community events, and local charities.

FRIDAY

TThe What We Sow Foundation is rooted in a simple mission: to create family-friendly events on the Northshore that bring people together while supporting meaningful local causes. In its very first year, the foundation is already planning about ten community gatherings that uplift small businesses, partner with other nonprofits, and shine a light on vital needs such as childhood cancer and chronic illness, food insecurity, school supply drives, mental health awareness, and accessibility for those with special needs. Each event blends fun with purpose, ensuring that families can enjoy time together while giving back in lasting ways.
Planting Seeds of Kindness Through Community Events

The idea for the foundation grew out of a need for more
youth-focused events that also benefit families in need. Founder Philip Mendel, together with a dedicated team of community leaders, brought this vision to life. The group includes Navon Crandle, known for his annual Navonathon fundraiser; Amy Reed, owner of Encore Bar and Grill; Cleveland Wester, CEO of the Youth Service Bureau; and Judy Helmstetter, longtime educator and former business owner. In the past, they organized fundraisers for local children with cancer, experiences that revealed the power of community when it comes together for a cause. Those early efforts laid the groundwork for larger, ongoing initiatives like the Kidz Block Party series, which combines family fun with giving back.
Some of the foundation’s most meaningful moments have come from helping children battling cancer, organizing food drives, and most recently partnering with Kiddo Kindness, a nonprofit chapter founded by Mandeville High School senior Bailee Wilcox. Together, they created comfort baskets for children facing extended hospital stays, reminding families that they are not alone.

Partnerships like this, along with support from local businesses such as Crafty Chick Gifts & Craft Studio, St. Tammany Health System, Turgeau’s Restaurant, and many more, have made it possible to grow quickly and reach more people. At the August 29th Kidz Block Party, the foundation even hosted a “Meet Our Local Heroes” event that brought out the Covington Police Department, City of Covington Fire Department, Acadian Ambulance, and American Legion Post #16 to inspire children through hands-on activities.
Looking ahead, What We Sow Foundation is planning a Kidz Fall Fest and Christmas fundraiser before launching a full calendar of monthly Kidz Block Parties in 2026 at the Covington Trailhead. The first official “Navonathon,” named for Navon Crandle and his story of turning hardship into service, will also take place under the foundation’s umbrella. Long term, the vision is to make kindness a permanent part of community life by continuing to create fun, family-friendly events with a deeper purpose. With the support of volunteers, sponsors, and local families, What We Sow is planting seeds of generosity and watching them grow into something remarkable for the entire Northshore.

75 YEARS OF LOVE

FAMILY-OWNED SINCE 1950.
From loving dogs and supporting schools to helping local families, we’re celebrating 75 years of putting people first.
RICHARD BALDWIN

1730 N. HWY 190 COVINGTON, LA 70433
WWW.BALDWINSUBARU.COM
I'm married to Jennifer Baldwin with my daughters, Savannah and Charlotte. I’m proud to be the third-generation owner of Baldwin Motors, a business my grandfather started back in 1950. To me, being “more than a car dealer” means caring for people first, our customers, our employees, and our community. Cars may be what we sell, but what matters most is the trust and relationships we build.
My goal is to carry Baldwin forward for another 75 years, and that doesn’t happen unless we adapt and stay true to our values. That’s why we’ve invested in modern facilities, digital convenience, and deeper community partnerships, all while keeping the Love Promise at the heart of everything we do.
At Baldwin Subaru, everyone is welcome, no matter what you drive. We service all makes and models because being part of the Baldwin family isn’t about the badge on your hood, it’s about being part of something bigger than just a dealership.

Caroline SUPER MOM Bozant
Caroline Bozant’s journey into motherhood is a story of love, family, and community. She met her husband, Ryan, at a Christmas party in Houma in 2012. At the time, she was earning her MBA while Ryan was living in Baton Rouge. After marrying in 2015, the couple moved to Madisonville where Ryan opened Integrity Physical Therapy in Mandeville with his business partner, Todd Currier. It was there that they began building a life filled with purpose and joy. Today, their daughter Juliette is seven and thriving in second grade at Madisonville Elementary, while their four year old son Rhys is a bright spirit in a Mother’s Day Out program at North Cross.
Caroline’s days are filled with the rhythm of family life, from early mornings with her children to afternoons balancing school pick ups, pediatric therapy appointments, homework, and activities. Evenings end with family dinners, baths, and bedtime stories, followed by her own quiet ritual of tidying the home so the next day begins with peace. Amid the busyness, she finds beauty in the smallest of moments, like the smiles on her children’s faces when they spot a firetruck or when she surprises them at a school performance.
Her favorite part of motherhood is simple yet profound, watching her children’s joy. “Anything that makes them happy, makes me happy,” she says. Whether it is holiday mornings, dance recitals, or a truck driving by, Caroline treasures the way their eyes light up. She also feels blessed to be surrounded by supportive moms in her community, women who step in with encouragement and even snapshots of her children when she cannot be there herself.
Motherhood has taught Caroline the delicate art of balance. She hopes to be her children’s safe place while also guiding them with the respect that comes from being their parent. She admits she does not always have the balance figured out but leans on traditions and small moments to anchor her family. Annual girls trips with her lifelong friends help her recharge and return with renewed perspective.

Caroline is most proud of the people her children are becoming, full of humor, kindness, imagination, and heart. She cherishes traditions like sprinkling ready confetti under their pillows before the first day of school, riding around town to admire Halloween decorations, and celebrating every milestone with joy.
Above all, she wants Juliette and Rhys to remember that being their mother has been her greatest joy. She hopes their childhood feels magical, surrounded by unconditional love and the certainty that she would do anything for them. For Caroline, that love is the legacy she hopes they will carry into their own lives and families one day.

The Calix Family Home
For Tiffani Calix, founder of Wigs by Tiffani, home is more than a place to live. It is a sanctuary for her family, a creative outlet, and a reflection of the story she and her husband Joseph are building together. Their residence blends thoughtful architecture with warm, organic interiors that balance comfort and sophistication.
Photos by Eugenia Lubrano-Gangi of NOLA Real Estate Marketing and Photography

The home was designed by Jeff Taaffe Designs and built by Stoop Construction. Its style is best described as a modern English cottage. The exterior is defined by stone cladding sourced from a quarry in the United States, which gives the house a sense of permanence and character. Large windows keep the look bright and inviting while opening to views of the backyard. There, a pool becomes the centerpiece, surrounded by striped tile, a splash pad, fire bowls, and an infinity spa that create a resort-like environment. The space was designed for connection, whether the family is hosting friends or enjoying quiet time together.
Inside, the aesthetic leans on textures, neutrals, and organic materials. White oak, quartzite, and plaster bring a natural harmony, while each finish was chosen with intention. The grain of the oak floors, the gleam of quartzite, and the tactile contrast of plaster accents combine to make the interiors both warm and visually striking.

The kitchen serves as the heart of the home where the Calix family spends much of their time. White oak floors flow through the space, grounding it in warmth. Taj Mahal quartzite countertops extend into waterfall panels and a matching backsplash, while an ivory plaster hood and oversized drum pendants create a bold focal point. Highend appliances and a spacious island make the kitchen as functional as it is beautiful, allowing plenty of room for meals, homework, and family conversation.
The master suite offers a retreat within the home. White oak flooring and vanity cabinets establish a calming base, while marble mosaic bathroom floors add elegance underfoot. White rhino quartzite counters and a freestanding soaking tub make the space luxurious, enhanced by ivory plaster shower accents, a dropped ceiling, and an arched entry into a generous closet.

For Tiffani, what makes the home most inspiring is how it nurtures both family life and creativity. She was born in California and raised in Louisiana, and her parents are from Vietnam. Today she pours her artistry into creating natural human hair wigs for women and children experiencing medical related hair loss. Her husband Joseph is a basketball coach at St Paul’s, and together they are raising three children, Jude who is ten, Belle who is eight, and Sage who is seven.
The Calix family home is where faith, family, and creativity meet, a space that reflects who they are and the life they continue to build together.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADE LEVEL COORDINATOR | 7TH GRADE TEACHER | MATH | CEDARWOOD SCHOOL
Who in your life influenced your decision to become a teacher? My Middle School and High School science teacher, Mrs. Janet Walch, inspired me to become a teacher. She had a special way of connecting with her students. Not only did she push us academically, but she was invested in our extra-curriculars as she often attended our sporting events. Mrs. Walch was someone we always felt comfortable talking with, made us feel special, and made learning FUN!
What is your biggest challenge as a teacher? The biggest challenge I face as a teacher is adapting to different learning preferences and learning differences. At Cedarwood School, we meet our students where they are, and we tailor our instruction to meet those specific needs. It can sometimes be challenging to find that “special formula” for each student.
What do you find most rewarding about teaching? There are countless ways in which teaching is rewarding such as watching students find success through struggle or watching a student have their big “ah-ha”
moment. However, the most rewarding part is having former students tell me how my math class set them up for success in high school and college.
How do you make learning engaging and fun for your students? To make learning engaging and fun for my students, I make math applicable to the real world. Math is more meaningful when they have practical application. I also employ a variety of activities including projects, digital work, activities, and games where students work both independently and in small groups. Learning math doesn’t have to be boring!
If you could leave your students with one lasting message, what would it be? If I could leave my students with one lasting message, I would say, “You can do it, and I believe in you.” Period. That simple. Sometimes knowing just one person believes in your dream is enough to make it happen!

APRN, MSN, FNP-C
What led you into the world of aesthetics? While travel nursing in Texas more than eight years ago, I visited a medspa and immediately saw the possibilities. It was the first time I realized I could combine medicine with artistry and create a space where women feel safe, cared for, and confident. The very next day I committed to Nurse Practitioner school and never looked back.
How would you describe your journey since then? It has been a climb filled with long hours, lessons learned, and fearless decisions. I have poured everything into this work, and I have also been lifted by my family, friends, and patients along the way. What I have built is not just a business, it is a reflection of resilience, vision, and the drive to set a new standard in aesthetics.
How has your approach to aesthetics evolved? My philosophy is to focus on safety, honesty, and results that look natural and refined. I have become deeply committed to regenerative treatments that work with the body to restore and renew. Education is also central to my practice. I want every patient to leave with confidence in their choices and trust in their care.
What is next for The Aesthetic Haus? The expansion into Old Gretna is a major milestone and a clear sign of what is possible when you lead with purpose. My goal is for every patient to know that I stand behind every product, every treatment, and every result with intention and excellence. This new chapter reflects more than growth. It represents a commitment to being the leader in my industry and continuing to raise the bar for aesthetics on the Northshore and beyond.

EMILY ROUSSEL KNATZER
Emily Roussel Knatzer, a New Orleans native now living on the Northshore, is a wife, mom of three, grandmother of three, and lifelong creative. Her love of art began early, leading her to study at Tulane and explore everything from murals and canvas work to mosaics, jewelry, and design. During the pandemic, her hand painted mugs and pet portraits caught attention online, earning her the nickname “The Pet Mug Lady” and sparking a thriving business. Today, through Emily Knatzer Art and Vision and Vibe Retail Merchandising and Design, she creates custom pieces ranging from portraits and wedding gifts to painted oyster shells, Bibles, and glassware, always finding beauty and potential in everything she touches.
Tell us about your business.
We offer Southern/Coastal fare with heavy seafood in a more traditional presentation on the Mandeville lakefront. I would describe us as approachable when it comes to what you read on our menus and enjoy on our cocktail list. We honor the seasons and our lakefront surroundings but are never too obscure with ingredients or presentation. We want you to understand our dishes and don't need a lot of fluff! Just straightforward food and libations that are delicious!
What inspired you to take the leap into ownership?
Cayman has hospitality in his blood. He loves people and really couldn't imagine doing anything else. While his time is mostly spent in the front of the house, he is a self taught cook and loves food.
Sara brings to the table a creative side too! Her love of design and decor compliments Cayman's creativity and together they have chosen all the elements you'll see that make Aperitif a visually stimulating environment.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy most about life on the Northshore We live near the lakefront so we spend a lot of time outside, playing tennis, riding bikes and golf carting around the neighborhood. We entertain at home often with family and friends.
We also like staying involved with community service by offering our time and/or resources when we can to help amazing groups like Habitat for Humanity, Safe Harbor, Hope House, local schools and many other non-profits.

BY
MATTHEW & COURTNEY

For Courtney Hartsell, now proudly Mrs. Matthew Mullet, the journey to the altar was more than just a wedding day. It was the culmination of a lifetime of love and friendship. Courtney and Matt’s story began long before they ever imagined saying “I do.” Childhood companions since the fifth grade and high school sweethearts soon after, their bond has always been rooted in friendship, loyalty, and devotion. On Friday, March 22, 2025, surrounded by family and friends, they celebrated not only a wedding but the promise of forever.

The proposal was every bit as magical as their love story. On October 4, 2023, Matt told Courtney they were headed to a work event at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport. Instead, he led her to a life changing surprise. With their closest friends looking on, he got down on one knee before whisking her away on a breathtaking helicopter ride over the city. The skies of New Orleans became the backdrop for one of the most unforgettable moments of their lives.
When the day finally arrived, Livaudais Hall in New Orleans set the scene for both the ceremony and reception. The timeless venue was filled with shades of white, ivory, champagne, and green, a palette that reflected both elegance and natural beauty. Courtney walked down the aisle in a fitted mermaid style gown adorned with floral lace appliqués, a soft shimmer trailing into a romantic train. With a deep V neckline and delicate straps, her gown captured grace and charm, perfectly echoing the love in the room.
The celebration was filled with laughter, joy, and unforgettable moments shared with loved ones. One of the most heartfelt moments of the day was Courtney’s father’s speech, which moved everyone in the room and perfectly captured the love, pride, and emotion of the occasion.
Every detail reflected the thought and love poured into their wedding. Their four tier cake, decorated with white roses and greenery, offered guests a delicious variety of flavors including almond, lemon, strawberry, and chocolate. Guests danced, laughed, and celebrated the union of two people whose lives had already been entwined for so long.
What made their wedding unique was the history they share. Courtney and Matt have grown together through school, long distance, and life’s many milestones. Each chapter led them to this day, a testament to the strength of their love and the beauty of building a future with your best friend.
Today, the couple resides in Covington, Louisiana, where they continue to write their love story. While their honeymoon is still to come, planned for their one year anniversary, their journey as husband and wife has already begun, promising a lifetime of love, laughter, and shared memories.
