Chairman’s Report

Hi there fellow club members, welcome to the chairman’s report for September 2022.

A very big thank you to Gerry Pethic for organising an excellent Daffodil Rally for cancer. Tremendous turnout, a really nice sunny day, with great attendance back at the clubhouse. We raised $730 for the Cancer Society in Invercargill, the satisfying thing about this rally is all the money raised stays local.

A sub-committee of the executive have met to formulate a set of guidelines for members private use of the clubrooms, these will be discussed at the next executive meeting.

Painting of the clubroom interior is underway and the extension is finished. Unfortunately the painter had a close family bereavement and work has temporarily stopped. By the time you are reading this he should have started on the main hall. PTO.

Mid-Week Run 5th October 10.30am at the Racecourse Gates.

Chairman’s Report continued:Thank you for everbody’s forebearance whilst we go through this very nescessary redecoration.

Ray McCulloch had a very successful “Round the Takis” run, with an overnight in Te Anau, well done Ray! See below for details of memorial services for Keith Shieffelbein and Dennis Williams.

The Commercial Rally (5th November) will start at Anderson Park this year, in support of the public re-opening of the Homestead. The re-opening is 2 day event so it should be a good weekend, hopefully the weather gods will play their part.

Round The Takis Run

Keith & Maureen Shieffelbein – Memorial – 24 September Keith and Maureen's daughters Katrina and Sandra will be coming from Wellington, and their brother Richard coming over from Australia to lay their parents to rest and unveil their headstone.

This will take place at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday 24th September at the Eastern Cemetery and will be followed by light refreshments at the Working Men’s Club at 1 pm.

Dennis Williams – Memorial - 25 September Dennis Williams’ children will be holding a similar ceremony for their father who died in a motorcycle accident 12 months ago. Dennis was only a member of our club for a short time but was well known by a number of members. The ceremony will be held at the Eastern Cemetery on the Sunday 25th at 2 pm, all are invited to attend.
