From the editor’s desk Greetings dear readers! North America Institute of Vihangam Yoga welcomes the readers with yet another issue of the monthly newsletter.

This edition brings the continued portion of topic “The invaluable human breath” from previous edition. To measure length there is unit, foot, inch, cm, similarly to measure time unit is sec, min, hour etc. But have we ever thought, what is the unit of measurement of our life? How one’s lifespan is decided? The unit is our breath count. It is like deposited money in our account. The more we spend the smaller would be our life. Current lifestyle and environment has resulted in increased stress and tension in our daily life and because of that we normally spend more breath per day. Every breath we take brings us closer to our death. Moreover, we get this human form after passing through more than 84 lacks of mortal frames and if we lose this opportunity, without doing anything to free ourselves from cycles of birth and death we have to again pass through 84 lacks of mortal frames to get this unique and invaluable human form. So, for someone who realizes the importance of human breath and has the desire for true happiness and divine bliss, moments of life (invaluable breath) must be spent to acquire the divine Brahma Vidya knowledge and gain the immense spiritual benefits.

“The Ninth Lotus” topic is also covered in this edition. Eight chakras or plexis are present in body but they do not influence mind’s mobility. Mind cannot be stopped by meditating on these chakras. It is only the secret “Ninth Chakra or the Ninth Lotus” where the mind dissolves in. This chakra lies outside our body beyond prakriti. We will learn more as we get into the newsletter.

EIN: 45-1143027 The word spirituality is a well-known term today, mostly related for the mental peace. The entire picture of spirituality is unfortunately lost. The complete science of spirituality truly culminates into fulfilling the ultimate goal of human life i.e. union with the Lord. Hence, the true seeker of the Lord does not stop at the spiritual practices that provide mental peace but seek the spirituality as a whole to make the human life successful. In the name of spirituality, there are various practices prevalent today. However, most of these practices seem to be based on mind, intellect, chitta (memory), prana (breath), limbs of actions and sensory organs. In all such practices, the yogi is confined within the domain of mind and fails to realize the entities that exist beyond prakriti (materialistic world). The power of mind also cannot be ignored. In such practices too, a yogi gets to listen various sounds like Dash Anhad, Panch Brahmandi Shabd and experiences various lights of different colors. A few mistakenly assume to have experienced God in such Prakritik light and soothing sounds. Sadgurudeo writes in the holy book “Swarved”: Mann hi mann mein dharna, mann hi mann mein dhyaan| Mann hi manaa samaadhi hai, yah dhokha bhram jaan|| 2-10-68 Such poor practitioner, unaware of the play of mind, assumes to have acquired the experience of “Samadhi” and unfortunately remains trapped into the cycle of life and death unknowingly. All such experiences within the domain of mind is prakritik and understanding to have experienced “Samadhi” within this domain is a false assumption. Sadgurudeo further writes in “Swarved”: Sadhan mann ke saath hai, tab tak bhakti naahi| Vimal urdhwa pravaah mein, aman bhakti ghat maahi|| 1-2-18 As long as the practices are through the means of mind, it is all “Karma (act)” and not a desired devotion. The true devotion is experienced only when the soul is dissociated from the mind. Being free from mind, the consciousness naturally reverses the flow to move upwards away from the “Prakriti” towards the abode of God and - the true experience of devotion flowers. There are yogis who have learnt how to control the mind, how to purify the mind but devoid of the science behind dissolving the mind to its root, such yogis still lack the experience of the true devotion that could free them from the bondage of “prakriti”.

The question is – what is that abode where the mind is dissolved and left behind to acquire the state of true devotion?

There are again “Hath Yogis” who perform various practices based on Prana (breath) including Kumbhak and Bandh, - to awaken “Kundalini” (a latent spiritual energy inside our body). Since the “Kundalini” starts from “Mooladhar” (a place at the bottom of our torso) and goes upto “Sahasraar

chakra” (a place at the top of our head), they spend more than 30-40 years of arduous practice to activate these chakras for the kundalini awakening. Such Hath yogis do succeed in piercing through all eight chakras and awaken Kundalini, however due to this practice being driven by the force of Prana (breath), their experience of Kundalini awakening is limited to the ability to hold the breath. Even after piercing through all chakras, they yet fail to find an abode at which they could leave the Prana behind and experience the divine light of conscious entities beyond prakriti.

The question is – What is the abode at which Prana can be dissolved and a yogi could travel beyond prakriti to experience the divine light of Akshar and Supreme Lord?

The answer to both these questions lie in the experience of yet another Lotus (chakra) beyond the prakritik eight chakras. This secret “Lotus” is called “Ninth Lotus” and is known to contain infinite number of petals unlike other eight chakras which have just a few petals only.

The other eight chakras are mooladhar, swadhisthaan, manipoorak, vishudh, anaahat, aagyachakra, brahmarandhrakhya and sahasraar.

In the practice of Vihangam Yoga, with sadguru’s great mercy, - the practitioner is able to blossom these chakras upward in very little time. With the knowledge of eight chakras, a yogi realizes various entities in the prakriti however the entities beyond Prakriti are yet not revealed with such limited feat. For that, the experience of “Ninth Lotus” is essential.

All the eight chakra are prakritik but the subject of “Ninth Lotus” is beyond prakriti. The “Ninth Lotus” is realized in the fourth stage of Vihangam Yoga practice. Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj writes in “Swarved”: Nauvan kamal anoop hai, dal anant tehi jaan| Gyaan gamya anubhav karai, divya-drishti vigyaan|| In the practice of Brahma Vidya Vihangam Yoga, the practitioner acquires the divine conscious vision with Sadguru’s mercy and acquires the clear knowledge of the visible and invisible elements within and outside Prakriti. Without the divine conscious vision, all elements beyond and within Prakriti are not revealed and without the clear experience, knowledge of the entities cannot be achieved. The knowledge of the entire creation depends upon the knowledge of the entities at this secret “Ninth Lotus”. This “Ninth Lotus” is a conscious Lotus which are realized only with the conscious vision. Sadgurudeo further writes about this Ninth Lotus: Asht kamal makrand mein, mann va bhramar kar vaas| Nauvan kamal anoop hai, gandh bhramar mann naash|| 1-1-50 In the words of a saint, the mind is like a bee. As a bee prepares honey from various flowers, the mind similarly likes to engage with various

subjects of the prakriti for the sensory pleasure.

The mind derives immense joy at these eight chakras of the body but is yet not satiated enough to leave its wavering nature. Only when the mind is taken to the conscious zone of “Ninth Lotus” called the “Pushpdeep”, the mind is permanently absorbed into the divine experience here. Now the mind is completely dissolved and the soul is set free from the shackles of mind. This is what makes Vihangam Yoga very special and unique of all yogic practices. The “Ninth Lotus” is also the abode of “Mahashunya” at which the Prana gets absorbed and the soul is set free of Prana as well.

A Hathyogi spends more than three to four decades in awakening the eight chakras in order to awaken “Kundalini” whereas a Vihangam Yogi experiences the awakening of Kundalini with sadguru’s mercy without the need to blossom the eight chakras individually. However, once the “Kundalini” is awakened, the “tenth door” (the secret door in our body) opens up and with the Sadguru’s mercy, the light originating from the “Ninth Lotus” enters into the human body of a Vihangam Yogi to blossom the prakritik eight chakras all instantly. Such is the glory of Lord Sadgurudeo.

It is at the “Ninth Lotus” at which the knowledge of the “Akshar Brahma” is also obtained. Out of the four conscious entities, “Akshar Brahma” is the one who is behind the creation and dissolution of the universe. It is he who is behind all kinds of forces in this nature. Thus the knowledge of the entire cosmos is revealed upon knowing the entities at the secret “Ninth Lotus”. At this stage, a Vihangam Yogi knows the cause of “big bang”. He knows how the vibration is imparted in this universe causing the creation to begin. The yogi also achieves the feat of discarding the breath and mind for the desired duration of time in order to experience the infinitely conscious “Akshar Brahma” and supremely blissful “Parmatma”.

Sadgurudeo further says in Swarved: Mann aru pavan vileen mein, phoolai kamal anoop| Phoole se khoole nayan, darshan shabd swaroop|| 2-1-41 With Sadguru’s mercy when the knowledge of the secret ‘Ninth Lotus’ is revealed, the practitioner successfully dissolves the Prana and Mind at this abode upon which the flow of consciousness is naturally reverted away from Prakriti and to the abode of Lord. The journey, henceforth, becomes free from all hassles and the soul definitely realizes the supreme bliss of Lord with the utmost mercy of Lord Sadgurudeo.

Thus, in the true science of consciousness, we have learnt that dissolving the mind and prana is of very great importance as the natural reversal of the flow of consciousness from Prakriti to Parmatma is achieved only after the mind and Prana both are dissolved into Ninth Lotus.

Ultimately the soul gets the divine experience of complete union with Lord and achieves the ever lasting peace and bliss.

Featured Ashram of the month

An Encyclopedia of Spirituality – Swarved

The great glory of Brahma Vidya Vihangam Yoga finds its mention in all the spiritual scriptures like Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagvad Geeta, Ramayana, but is least understood and practiced. During recent times, Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj has revived the same supreme knowledge by creating an encyclopedia of spirituality – the Swarved. This book was written

by Him on His path of spiritual exploration. Swarved has the best concurrence of the experience and expression.

Here are few verses from Swarved: Maya lok chodaya kar, chetan lok niwas| Sadguru taako janiye, bhakti mukti kehi paas|| Swarved 2-9-8 Purport: One who can liberate human beings from materialistic world and leads to the path of Almighty and salvation, one who has all knowledge of devotion and liberation is the real Sadguru.

In the same way, after getting Brahmavidya, real meaning of spirituality becomes visible.

Purport: Knowledge of four Vedas, karma, worshiping are three subjects but root of all these subjects itself is “gyaanknowledge”.
