Dear Readers,

München – eine Stadt mit Flair, eine Weltstadt im Mittelpunkt Europas – ist um ein Designhotel reicher. Mitte Mai wurde unter unserer Leitung im Osten der Stadt, unweit des neuen Messe München/ICMKongresszentrums, das angelo Designhotel eröffnet. Damit wird das erfolgreiche angelo-Hotelkonzept nun erstmals in einer deutschen Metropole umgesetzt. Lesen Sie mehr darüber in der Titelgeschichte.

Munich – a city with flair, a cosmopolitan city at the centre of Europe – has added a new design hotel to its hotel landscape. The angelo Designhotel, under management by Vienna International, opened in the middle of May in the eastern part of the city, not far from the Munich fairgrounds/ICM congress centre. With the angelo Designhotel Munich, we have brought the successful angelo concept to Germany for the first time. Read more about it in our cover story.

Ein Besuch des Viktualienmarktes gehört also einfach dazu, er ist der beliebteste Einkaufsplatz für die Münchner Feinschmecker, von den 140 Firmen, die dort ihre Waren zum Verkauf anbieten, sind über 20 solche, in denen man Fleischund Wurstwaren bekommt. Und ein Biergarten befindet sich dort natürlich auch.

iese Feststellung ätzt Deutschlands geschliffenste kulinarische Zunge, Wolfram Siebeck, was ihn aber nicht hindert, in sein Buch „Die Deutschen und ihre Küche“ (Rowohlt Berlin 2007, 24,90 €) gleich einmal ein Rezept für Dampfnudeln und Münchener Leberkäs mit hinein zu nehmen.

Die Biergärten in München haben ihre ganz eigene Geschichte. Bier durfte ja nur in der kalten Jahreszeit gebraut werden, der Vorrat für den Sommer – das Märzenbier wurde stärker gebraut und in den Bierkellern gelagert. Weil man aber in München wegen des hohen Grundwasserspiegels keine tiefen Keller bauen konnte, mussten die Kastanienbäume zum Schattenspenden herhalten. Und wie früher auch die Wiener zum Heurigen, brachten sich die Münchner ihre „Brotzeit“ in wohl gefüllten Körben selber mit. Heutzutage kann man Brezn, Rettich (Radi) und einen speziellen Käse auch dort kaufen. „Obazda“ heißt der und ist eine Mischung aus diversen Käsesorten, die mit Butter, Obers, Zwiebel, Pfeffer und Salz vermischt werden. Jetzt fehlt nur noch die Weißwurst. Sie wird aus Kalb- und Schweinefleisch hergestellt und mit Zwiebeln und Petersilie gewürzt. Man isst sie warm mit süßem Senf, Brezn und Bier. Und es gibt diverse Lehrmeinungen wie man die Wurst – die man ohne Haut isst – aus dieser Haut herausbekommt. Einschlägige Websites geben da Anweisungen in diversen Sprachen. Das schönste Wort für den Weißwurstgenuss ist aber eindeutig „zuzln“.

his revelation leaves a bitter taste in the mouth of Germany’s sharpest culinary critic, Wolfram Siebeck, although it does not prevent him from including a recipe for Dampfnudeln and Munich Leberkäs in his book Die Deutschen und ihre Küche (The Germans and their Cuisine, Rowohlt Berlin 2007, € 24.90).

Munich’s beergardens have a history all of their own. Beer brewing was only permitted during the cold season. The summer beer – called Märzen – was brewed stronger and stored in beer cellars. Since Munich’s high groundwater level precluded the construction of deep cellars, chestnut trees were used for shade. And like the Viennese and their Heurigen, Munich residents would bring their meals with them in well-filled picnic baskets. Today, beergardens also offer pretzels, radishes and a special cheese known as “obazda” – a mixture of various cheeses, butter, cream, onions, salt and pepper. All that is missing is Weisswurst. This sausage is made from veal and pork, flavoured with onions and parsley, steeped in hot water (lemon rind optional), and eaten warm with sweet mustard, pretzels and beer. And since Weisswurst is eaten without the skin, there exist several opinions on the best way to get at the meat. The truly inquisitive will find web-based instructions in many different languages, but the best way to enjoy Weisswurst is just to suck it out of the skin. At the very least, the word for this method is truly wonderful: “zuzln”.

Every day, the market’s 140 stalls attract gourmands, hobby-chefs, housewives and onlookers, as well as night owls and early birds.

ie Münchner nennen den Turm der Peterskirche liebevoll „Alter Peter“. Es lohnt sich, die 302 Stufen bis zur Aussichtsgalerie in 96 Metern Höhe zu erklimmen. Oben angekommen wandert der Blick weit über die Dächer bis nach Schwabing und zum Englischen Garten. Bei klarer Sicht sind am Horizont die Alpen gut zu erkennen. Und die bunten Farbkleckse direkt zu Füßen des Turms entpuppen sich dann aus der Nähe betrachtet als saftige Tomaten, Gurken, Blaukraut, Kohlrabi und Berge von schneeweißem Rettich, welche sich feinsäuberlich gesta-

pelt auf dem Viktualienmarkt aneinander reihen – ein Eldorado für alle Sinne. Seit 1807 gilt der Markt als die „grüne Börse“ der Stadt. Die Atmosphäre zu beschreiben ist schier unmöglich, man muss sie einfach selbst erlebt haben. Obst und Gemüse aus aller Herren Länder, Kräuter und Pilze aus den bayerischen Wäldern, Käse in allen Variationen, Wildbret, Fisch, Geflügel, hunderte Honigsorten, ungezählte Weine und Schnäpse, Gesundes und weniger Gesundes werden auf den Marktständen wunderbar arrangiert und erwarten Feinschmecker von Nah und Fern.

Die bronzenen Brunnenfiguren der beliebten Münchner Volkssänger Liesl Karlstadt, Weiß Ferdl und Karl Valentin stehen wie Marktpublikum zwischen Dutzenden von hölzernen Verkaufsständen und erinnern an vergangene Zeiten. Ein Biergarten darf natürlich auch hier nicht fehlen. Mit vollen Einkaufstaschen bepackt wird noch schnell bei einer „halben Bier“ und einer ofenfrischen Brezen das Neueste erzählt, bevor die gekauften Köstlichkeiten zu Hause verarbeitet werden. Die Schrannenhalle, die ehemalige Markthalle, wurde 1851 errichtet und vor kurzem aus ihrem Dornröschenschlaf geweckt. Mit vielen internationalen Restaurants, gemütlichen Cafés und stylischen Verkaufsläden gilt die Halle zurzeit als einer der beliebtesten In-Treffs der Münchner.

And what are those bright splotches of colour directly at the foot of the tower? Back at ground level, they reveal themselves to be juicy tomatoes, cucumbers, red cabbage,

kohlrabi and mountains of snow-white radishes, all meticulously stacked on the Viktualienmarkt – a paradise for the senses. The market has been the city’s “green bourse” since 1807 and its atmosphere is nearly impossible to describe, it must be experienced firsthand. Fruits and vegetables from all corners of the world, herbs and mushrooms from the forests of Bavaria, cheese in all its permutations, game, fish and fowl, hundreds of types of honey, countless wines and spirits, healthy and less healthy goodies – all are exquisitely arranged at the market’s stalls, awaiting gourmets from near and far. Standing amidst dozens of wooden stalls are bronze figures of beloved Munich humorists Liesl Karlstadt, Weiß Ferdl and Karl Valentin, whose memorial fountains recall times gone by. And what would a Munich tradition be without a beergarden? Shoppers, laden down with full shopping bags, quickly exchange the latest news while enjoying a “half beer” and an oven-fresh pretzel, then head home to prepare their recently purchased delicacies. The former market hall, the Schrannenhalle, was built in 1851 and was only recently awakened from its slumber. Today it houses many international restaurants, cosy cafés and stylish shops, making it one of Munich’s most popular and trendy meeting places. VI 21 Summer 08 | 9

Vienna International eröffnet Reisebüro in Prag

Vienna International Opens Travel Bureau in Prague Anfang April eröffnete Vienna International Hotels & Resorts unter dem Namen Vienna International Travel Management die erste Reisebüro-Auslandsfiliale in Prag.

At the beginning of April, Vienna International Hotels & Resorts opened the first foreign branch of its travel office in Prague under the name Vienna International Travel Management.

ie feierliche Eröffnung des VI Travel Management Reisebüros fand im jüngsten Hotel der Vienna International Hotels & Resorts statt, dem trendigen angelo Hotel in Prag. Direkt beim Hotel, in der Straße Radlická 1g, liegt das rund 50 Quadratmeter große Reisebüro, das montags bis freitags von 09:00 Uhr bis 17:00 Uhr, donnerstags bis 18:00 Uhr und samstags nach Terminvereinbarung geöffnet haben wird. Frau Martina Schneidr, Sales Manager, wird für das Reisebüro in Prag verantwortlich zeichnen. Wie der Standort Wien dient auch das Prager Reisebüro als Anlauf- und Kontaktstelle sowohl für private als auch geschäftliche Reisende, für die eine Vielzahl von Spezialleistungen geboten wird. Diese können bequem entweder schriftlich, telefonisch oder persönlich gebucht werden. Die Beratung und Buchung kann nach Terminvereinbarung auch außerhalb der Öffnungszeiten erfolgen. Mit seinem neuen Konzept geht VI Travel gezielt auf gehobene Kundenbedürfnisse ein. Zudem setzt das Unternehmen mit der Eröffnung des Reisebüros in Prag ein deutliches Zeichen für den Ausbau des internationalen Vertriebs. Nach der Eröffnung des Prager Büros soll im Laufe dieses Jahres ein weiteres in Polen folgen, dessen Standort derzeit geprüft wird.

he festive opening of the VI Travel Management travel bureau took place in the youngest of the Vienna International Hotels & Resorts, the hip angelo Hotel in Prague. The 50 sqm. travel office is located near the hotel, at Radlická 1g, and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday until 6 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment. Martina Schneidr, Sales Manager, will lead the travel bureau in Prague. As is the case at the Vienna office, the new travel bureau in Prague will serve as a contact point for private and business travellers and will offer a large number of special services, which can be comfortably booked either in writing, by phone or in person. Advisory and booking services are also offered by appointment outside the regular opening hours. With this new concept, VI Travel aims specifically at upmarket customer needs. With the opening of the travel bureau, the company also sets a clear signal in the expansion of its international sales. Following the opening of the bureau in Prague, a further office will follow in Poland this year. The exact location is still being worked out. Während man die Tore durchschreitet, sich hocharbeitet auf den Berg, linker Hand die steil aufragende Felswand, rechts der Blick ins Land, begreift der Besucher, mit welcher Raffinesse diese Anlage erbaut wurde. Das vierte Tor etwa, das Engeltor, liegt auf einem Rücken zwischen zwei Schluchten und ist von beiden Seiten nur über eine Brücke zu erreichen. Heute kann die Burg auch bequemer mittels Personenaufzug erreicht werden. Der Spazierweg durch die 14 beeindruckenden Tore ist jedoch bei guter körperlicher Verfassung aufgrund seiner Einzigartigkeit zu bevorzugen. In der Burg angekommen erwartet die Besucher ein faszinierender Einblick in die Zeit des Mittelalters. Historische Sammlungen, eine Waffenkammer und ein Burgrestaurant laden zum Verweilen ein.

The way through the gates is a unique story, a symphony of towers, walls and ramparts. While passing through the gates, working one’s way up the hill – the steep rock on the left, a view of the countryside on the right – the visitor grasps the sophistication that went into building this fortress. There’s the fourth gate, for example: Angel’s Gate is built on top of a ridge between two gorges and is accessible from both sides only over a bridge. Today the castle can be reached in comfort thanks to a passenger lift. However, if you are in good shape, choosing to walk up through the 14 impressive gates is the best way to appreciate this unique fortress complex. The castle itself provides a fascinating look into the Middle Ages, with historical collections, an armoury and a castle restaurant.

Pierogi Eigentlich ist es überall dasselbe. In Kärnten, in Nord- und in Südtirol, in Italien, in Russland und in Polen: Teigtaschen aus Hefe-, Blätter-, Mürb- oder Nudelteig, gefüllt mit Fleisch, Geflügel, Fisch, Pilzen, Gemüse, Eiern, Topfen oder Käse werden gebacken, frittiert oder gekocht. In Austria, in the U.S., in Asia, Russia or Poland: dumplings, made of yeast dough, filo dough, pasta dough or even shortcrust, filled with meat, chicken, fish, mushrooms, vegetables, egg or curd cheese, baked, fried or boiled.

ier und jetzt soll aber von der polnischen Ausformung die Rede sein. Pierogi heißen sie dort, der Name kommt vom slawischen Wort „pir“ für Gastmahl, Schmaus. Der Pierogi-Teig ist in ein Nudel- oder Strudelteig. Am häufigsten füllt man mit Sauerkraut, das wird mit Speck, Zwiebel und Semmelbrösel verfeinert. Weiters sind Kartoffel als Fülle sehr gebräuchlich, die werden gekocht und mit Topfen vermischt. Und weil die polnische Küche ja auch sehr viele russische Wurzeln hat, heißen die mit der Kartoffel-Topfenfüllung russische Pirogen. Natürlich werden die Teigtaschen in Polen auch mit Fleisch gefüllt, dieses wird vorher faschiert und mit Semmelbrösel vermischt. Pirogen passen sehr gut zur Suppe, zum Barszcz, das ist die polnische Ausformung der Roterübensuppe: tiefrot und klar, intensiv duftend und säuerlich belebend. Sehr oft isst man sie als Zwischengericht. Kulinarischer Höhepunkt eines polnischen Essens im Amber Baltic in Mi ed˛ zyyzdroje war eine Vergleichsverkostung zwischen den einzelnen Pierogi. Die rutschen natürlich noch besser hinunter, wenn man sie mit zerlassener Butter übergießt und dann entweder polnisches Bier oder einen trockenen Weißwein dazu trinkt.

Pierogi dough is usually pasta or strudel dough and is often filled with sauerkraut, spiced up with bacon, onions and breadcrumbs. Potatoes are also a very popular filling, boiled and mixed with a special type of curd cheese called twaróg, which is what you have left over after pressing and draining cottage cheese. And since Polish cuisine also has a lot of Russian roots, these potato-and-cheese dumplings are called Ruskie Pierogi. Of course Polish dumplings are also filled with meat, which is first minced and mixed with bread crumbs. Pierogi go well with soup, particularly with borscht, Polish red beet soup: strong red in colour, with an intense aroma, tart and invigorating. Pierogi are often eaten as an in-between meal. The culinary highlight of a Polish meal at the Amber Baltic holiday resort in Mi edzyyzdroje ˛ was a comparison taste test of the various types of pierogi. Pierogi slide down even better smothered in melted butter and washed down with Polish beer or a fine white wine.

Teig Dough ½ kg Mehl Flour 1 Ei Egg ¾ Glas Wasser Water Salz Salt

Sauerkrautfüllung Pilze in Wasser einweichen. Sauerkraut in wenig Wasser kochen. Speckwürfel anbraten, klein geschnittene Zwiebeln zugeben und leicht bräunen. Sauerkraut auspressen, klein schneiden, mit den geschnittenen Pilzen anrösten und kräftig würzen.

Sauerkrautfüllung Sauerkraut Filling 500 g Sauerkraut 50 g Fett Fat 1 mittelgroße Zwiebel medium-sized onion 50 g klein geschnittene Speckwürfel finely diced bacon 50 g getrocknete Steinpilze dried porcini mushrooms Salz, Pfeffer Salt, Pepper

Frischkäsefüllung Zwiebeln leicht anrösten und mit den zerstampften Kartoffeln und dem Topfen vermengen. Mit Salz und Pfeffer abschmecken. Preparation

Frischkäsefüllung Cheese Filling ½ kg gekochte Kartoffeln boiled potatoes 250 g Bauerntopfen curd cheese (quark) 3 mittelgroße Zwiebeln medium-sized onions 40 g Fett Fat Salz, Pfeffer Salt, Pepper

Zubereitung Teig Mehl, Ei, Wasser und Salz verkneten. Den zubereiteten Teig dünn ausrollen und runde Scheiben mit 5 cm Durchmesser ausstechen. Die verschiedenen Füllungen in die Teigstücke einschlagen und zwei bis drei Minuten in siedendem Salzwasser kochen. Kurz vor dem Servieren in heißem Fett goldbraun anbraten.

Pierogi Dough Knead together flour, egg, water and salt. Roll out the prepared dough and cut out small circles with a diameter of 5 cm. Wrap up the dough balls with the various fillings and cook in simmering salt water for two to three minutes. Just before serving, gently fry the pierogi in hot fat or oil until golden brown. Sauerkraut Filling Soak mushrooms in water. Gently brown the diced bacon, add finely cut onions and brown lightly. Cook sauerkraut in a little water, drain and press out excess water. Finely cut the sauerkraut and mushrooms, season well and sauté together. Cheese Filling Lightly sauté the onions and mix together with the boiled mashed potatoes and curd cheese. Nun tief in den Brustkorb einatmen und beim Ausatmen das linke Bein auch anheben. Einatmen und wieder langsam in die Ausgangsstellung zurückkehren. Diese Übung einige Male wiederholen und anschließend die Seite wechseln. B. Leg Pull Supine Den Körper in die Rückenlage bringen. Beide Hände unter die Schulter legen. Die Beine durchstrecken. Hier ebenfalls tief in den Brustkorb einatmen und beim Ausatmen das rechte Bein zweimal anheben. Die Übung einige Male wiederholen und anschließend das Bein wechseln.

Als Gastlektor an den Universitäten von Edinburgh, Sheffield, Hull, Liverpool, Brighton und Leeds ist es ihm ein Anliegen, die komplexen Zusammenhänge zwischen Architektur und Innendesign und ihre Faszination an junge Menschen weiterzugeben. Company president John Whiles was a successful architect in New York and Sydney prior to founding Jestico + Whiles. Under his guidance, 18 hotel, resort and spa projects have been successfully implemented throughout Europe. In addition to managing a diverse range of projects, Whiles is always looking for something new, and is constantly experimenting with innovative ideas for bringing together architecture and interior design in order to create new synergies and possibilities for achieving impressive results. As guest lecturer at the universities of Edinburgh, Sheffield, Hull, Liverpool, Brighton and Leeds, he sees it his duty to introduce the next generation of architects to the complex relationship between architecture and interior design and his fascination with them.

James Dilley, Associate Director at Jestico + Whiles, is in charge of the company’s hotel and interior design team. He is currently responsible for five hotel projects in Great Britain and Central Europe – among others, the andel’s hotels currently under construction in Berlin and Poland for Vienna International Hotels & Resorts. Eine neue Schlüsselrolle im Team des Dream Castle Hotel Paris spielt Yann Frereux. Seit März 2008 ist er Operations Manager und übernimmt somit die Nachfolge von Fabien Piacentino, nunmehr General Manager im Hotel Holiday Inn. In seiner neuen Position ist Herr Frereux nun für den gesamten operationellen Bereich, sprich Zimmer, F&B, Housekeeping und Technik, zuständig.

Der Bundeslehrlingswettbewerb für Tourismusberufe zählt zu den Top-Ereignissen was die Nachwuchsausbildung in der Tourismusbranche betrifft. Eva-Maria Karg vom Castellani Parkhotel holte in der Kategorie Hotel- und Gastgewerbeassistent Gold im Bundesland Salzburg und den ausgezeichneten zweiten Platz in der gesamtösterreichischen Wertung.

In March 2008, Yann Frereux was appointed Operations Manager of the Dream Castle Hotel Paris, taking on a key role within the Dream Castle team. He succeeds Fabien Piacentino, now General Manager of the Hotel Holiday Inn. In his new position, Mr Frereux is responsible for the entire operations of the hotel.

The Austrian Apprentice Competition for Tourism Careers is one of the top events for apprentices and trainees in the field of tourism. Diplomat Hotel Prague Erfolgreich bei kulinarischem Wettbewerb Success at Culinary Competition

Bereits zum zweiten Mal sammelten die Mitarbeiter des andel‘s Hotel und des angelo Hotels in Prag gemeinsam eine beachtliche Summe für den Integrationskindergarten DUHA in Prag. 7.000 CZK, wurde für den Ankauf von Rollern, Puppen und Puppenwagen verwendet. Bei der Übergabe herrschte helle Aufregung und Ausgelassenheit.

Adam Furthner, Jungkoch im Vier-Sterne Hotel Diplomat in Prag, erkochte Anfang April den ausgezeichneten zweiten Platz beim nationalen Kochwettbewerb „O pohár starosty Prahy 10“. Unter der Obhut von Küchenchef Vladimír Šmejkal wurde der ambitionierte junge Mann auf den Wettbewerb vorbereitet. Mit seiner Maracujamousse überzeugte er die Jury von seinem Können.

For the second year in a row, the staff of the andel’s and angelo hotels in Prague joined together to collect donations for the Duha special needs kindergarten in Prague 5, Košíře. The proud sum of 7,000 Czech crowns went to the purchase of scooters, dolls and other toys for the children, whose excitement knew no bounds!

Adam Furthner, Junior Chef at the four-star Hotel Diplomat in Prague, cooked his way to second place at the “O pohár starosty Prahy 10” culinary competition in early April. Under the care of Executive Chef Vladimír Šmejkal, the ambitious young chef was best prepared for the contest, convincing the jury of his skill with a fantastic passion fruit mousse.

Küchenchef Jirˇí Synecký leitet bereits seit Ende des vergangenen Jahres das engagierte Küchenteam. Die beiden Herren ergänzen das angelo-Team mit viel Engagement und neuen Ideen.

Das Führungsteam des Castellani Parkhotels absolvierte Ende Februar ein sportliches Teamtraining in den Tiroler Alpen. Bei Wettbewerben auf der Piste wurde mit Snowbikes, Schneeschuhen und Skiern die Teamfähigkeit, der Mannschaftsgeist sowie die Motivation, ein gemeinsames Ziel zu erreichen, trainiert.

The two perfectly complement the angelo team with their commitment, new ideas and perfect guest service in the hotel restaurant Sunlight and the jazz bar.

This February, the management team of the Castellani Parkhotel took part in an active team training session in the Tyrolean Alps. With downhill contests on snow bikes, snowshoes and skis, the team tested their team ability and team spirit as well as their motivation to achieve a common goal.

Das Führungsteam des andel’s Hotel Prag reiste dieses Mal fürs Teambuilding nach Krakau, um die Kollegen vom Schwesternhotel andel’s Krakau kennen zu lernen und an zwei gemeinsamen Tagen Synergien und Kooperationen für die Zukunft zu erarbeiten. Die Treffen mit den Krakauer Kollegen und verschiedenste Teambuilding-Aktivitäten boten eine gute Gelegenheit, sich kennen zu lernen.

In the beginning of April, the Castellani Parkhotel Salzburg got a new restaurant manager. Marco Nobre de Andrade brings lots of experience with him following career successes at the Hotel Sacher and the Hotel Goldener Hirsch. After a stint on the four-star cruise ship Maritim, he made a name for himself as an independent restaurateur.

The management team of the andel’s Hotel Prague travelled to Cracow for its latest team-building getaway in order to get to know the colleagues from the andel’s Cracow. The two teams spent two days together working out synergies and ways of collaborating in the future. The meeting was also the perfect opportunity to exchange ideas.

Die vom Le Palais Team ins Leben gerufene Aktion “Jeden Tag 1 CZ-Krone” fand auch bei der diesjährigen IRRRM 2008 Conference in Prag, welche von den Leading Hotels of the World organisiert wurde, große Unterstützung. Insgesamt konnten 69.108 CZK gesammelt werden. Aus dem Reinerlös der Aktion wurden drei neue Computer mit Drucker für das Kinderheim Nechanice gekauft. The Le Palais charity project “One Crown a Day” enjoyed plenty of support at this year’s IRRRM 2008 Conference in Prague organised by The Leading Hotels of the World, collecting total donations of 69,108 Czech crowns. For the Children’s Home in Nechanice, the proceeds were used to purchase three new computers and a printer.

Petr Mašek begann seine berufliche Laufbahn 2002 bei Fisher und arbeitete zwei Jahre als Incoming-Spezialist und Produktmanager. Anschließend begann er seine Karriere bei Vienna International Hotels & Resorts als Sales Coordinator und Sales Manager im andel’s Hotel Prag. Mit April 2008 wurde er in die neue Position des Assistant Director of Sales & Marketing im Hotel Diplomat berufen.

Die Verkaufsabteilung des andel’s Hotel und des angelo Designhotels in Prag ist gleich um zwei Mitarbeiter reicher geworden: Andrea Rozmarová absolvierte ein Kolleg für Reise- und Hotelmanagement und übernahm die Position des Sales Assistant. Jirˇí Hruška ist als Sales Coordinator für reibungslose Abläufe in der Abteilung verantwortlich. Er besuchte die Universität für Hotelmanagement in Prag.

ufgrund der stetigen Expansion der Vienna International Hotels & Resorts und der Vielzahl an Projekten, die das Unternehmen verfolgt, wurde der Vorstand der Hotelgruppe um ein Mitglied erweitert. Für die neue Position als Vorstand mit Schwerpunkt operative Führung wird Frau Isabella Hren mit 1. Mai 2008 in die Unternehmenszentrale nach Wien berufen. Sie leitet seit 2006 erfolgreich das Castellani Parkhotel in Salzburg für die Hotelgruppe.

Die 29-jährige Tourismuskauffrau verfügt bereits über langjährige Erfahrung in der Hotellerie. Vor ihrem Einstieg bei Vienna International als General Manager des Castellani Parkhotels in Salzburg im Jahr 2006 war sie für die Schwärzler Hotels tätig. Ihre Karriere startete sie als Abteilungsleiterin im Front Office im Vier-Stern Hotel Scesaplana in Brand. Von 2000 bis 2002 war sie Assistentin der Geschäftsführung, ehe sie die Geschäftsführung des Scesaplana übernahm. Letztes Jahr hatte sie die Position der Marketing-Managerin der Schwärzler Hotels inne. In dieser Funktion leitete sie den Bereich Marketing und Verkauf für 4 Hotels und zeichnete für die Positionierung und Konzeptarbeit der Hotels verantwortlich. Darüber hinaus leitete sie auch das Projekt Schwärzler Mitarbeiter Academy. Der Vorstand der Vienna International Hotelmanagement AG besteht somit nun aus Rudolf Tucek, Vorsitzender des Vorstands, Martin H. Lachout, Vorstand für Projektentwicklung, und Isabella Hren, Vorstand für operative Führung der VI Hotels & Resorts. Ergänzt wird der Vorstand durch Johanna Weichselbaumer, die als Prokuristin fungiert.

Effective 1 May 2008, Isabella Hren, since January 2006 General Manager of the Castellani Parkhotel in Salzburg, will join the board as Chief Operating Officer. Ein à la carte Restaurant sowie ein separates Frühstücks- und Buffetrestaurant erwarten die Gäste. Die Café Sky Lounge und die Sky Bar befinden sich im zwölften und dreizehnten Stock, von wo sich ein atemberaubender Blick auf den bekannten Fernsehturm am Alexanderplatz eröffnet. Auf 550 m² finden die Gäste einen weitläufigen Fitness- und Wellnessbereich. Das andel´s Hotel befindet sich im östlichen Teil Berlins, nicht weit vom Alexanderplatz.

Ein weiteres angelo Hotel entsteht derzeit in Pilsen, im südlichen Böhmen. Nach dem Vorbild des angelo Hotel Prague und gemäß den Designvorgaben des angelo-Hotelkonzeptes wird hier ebenfalls viel Wert auf extravagantes Innendesign gelegt. 144 modernst ausgestattete Zimmer erwarten den Gast. Das Angebot des Hauses wird auch ein à la carte Restaurant mit regionalen und internationalen Speisen sowie eine Lobbybar beinhalten. Für Veranstaltungen und Seminare sind mehr als 300 m² in verschiedenen Konferenzbereichen vorgesehen. Im Hotel wird sich außerdem ein großzügiges Fitnessstudio befinden. Pilsen liegt für Geschäftsreisende verkehrsstrategisch besonders günstig und entwickelt sich derzeit neben Prag zu einer der wichtigsten Wirtschaftsstädte der Tschechischen Republik.

Another angelo Hotel is currently being built in Pilsen in southern Bohemia. Based on the model of the angelo Hotel Prague, and in line with the design requirements of the angelo hotel concept, great value is being placed on lavish interior design during the construction of this new angelo Hotel as well. When opened, 144 modernly appointed rooms await the demanding guest. Hotel services will include a lobby bar as well as an à-la-carte restaurant offering local and international cuisine. More than 300 m² of conferencing space is planned for events and seminars, and the hotel will further feature a large fitness studio. The city of Pilsen, situated at a particularly convenient location for the business traveller, promises to become one of the Czech Republic’s most important centres for business and finance after Prague.

Also known as the floral capital of Austria, the city has chosen to continue the floral tradition and fascination with flowers in a unique hotel concept. The Blumenhotel St. Veit an der Glan (‘Blume’ means ‘flower’ in German) will feature 110 double rooms, two seminar rooms with space for up to 100 persons, and a wellness area in an architecturally modern hotel designed around the a floral theme. A display nursery in the hotel will offer a variety of seminars for hobby gardeners. Eine Lobby-Bar ist geplant und eine hoteleigene Tiefgarage mit 40 Stellplätzen wird das Angebot ergänzen.

Im Frühling 2009 eröffnet Vienna International Hotels & Resorts das erste Vier-Sterne Hotel in Wien. Die Bauarbeiten sind bereits seit Februar 2008 im Gange, um in der Gudrunstraße im 10. Senator Hotelprojekt Vienna

Also in the Austrian capital, Vienna International Hotels & Resorts will open a three-star breakfast-only hotel in late 2008 or early 2009. Construction has already begun on the Senator City Hotel in Hernalser Hauptstrasse in Vienna’s 17th district. The hotel’s façade will be designed in line with the surrounding turn-of-the-century buildings in order to maintain the traditional face of the district. The Senator will be a well-appointed city hotel with subtle design interiors and 179 rooms. As a three-star breakfast-only hotel, the Senator City Hotel will offer an extensive breakfast buffet. A lobby bar is planned as well, as is a hotel car park with 40 parking spaces.

„Rainer“ Hotelprojekt Vienna

Vienna International Hotels & Resorts is set to open its first four-star hotel in Vienna in spring 2009. Construction began in February 2008 to convert a former office building in Gudrunstrasse in Vienna’s 10th city district into a modern four-star hotel with 173 rooms and suites. The Rainer City Hotel will feature an à-la-carte restaurant and a conference area with state-of-the-art conferencing technology. Hotel bus and car parking will be among the many advantages of the new hotel, aimed especially at business guests, but also at individual tourists and groups.

Parndorf is a little town in the easternmost Austrian state of Burgenland located just a half-hour’s drive southeast of Vienna and just as far from the borders to Hungary and Slovakia. Das Vier-Sterne andel´s Hotel wird als modernes Designhotel in den alten Backsteinbau der Manufaktura Łód´z, einer ehemaligen Textilfabrik, integriert werden. Wie schon bei den Häusern in Prag und Krakau zeichnet das Architektenduo Jestico + Whiles auch für das extravagante und außergewöhnliche Design dieses neuen andel´s Hotels verantwortlich. Geplant sind 278 Zimmer, ein weitläufiger Konferenzbereich im Erdgeschoß und ein Ballraum im vierten Stock des Hotels, der mit 800 m² einen perfekten Rahmen für große Veranstaltungen bieten wird. Im obersten Stock entsteht ein großzügiger Wellnessbereich mit integriertem Indoor-Swimmingpool. Das Hotel wird in ein großes Shopping-, Kultur- und Eventareal eingebunden.

In Katowice, das heute ebenfalls zu den wichtigsten Geschäftszentren in Polen zählt, wird 2009 ein Vier-Sterne angelo Hotel unter der Leitung von Vienna International Hotels & Resorts seine Pforten öffnen. Das Designhotel wird über 189 modernst ausgestattete Zimmer und Appartements verfügen. Geplant sind außerdem ein Restaurant und eine Bar. Konferenzräumlichkeiten mit mehr als 900 m² werden für Konferenzen und Veranstaltung zur Verfügung stehen. Das angelo Hotel in Katowice ist mit PKW und öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln problemlos erreichbar und verfügt über eine Tiefgarage. Der Hauptbahnhof von Katowice liegt in Gehdistanz zum Hotel.

andel’s Hotel Łód´z

The new andel´s Hotel in Łód´z in central Poland, set to open its doors in spring 2009, will be the second andel´s in Poland. The four-star andel´s Hotel, a modern design hotel, will be beautifully integrated into the old red brick of the Manufaktura Łód´z, a former textile factory. Once again, the architect duo of Jestico + Whiles, who have already proven what they are capable of with the andel´s hotels in Prague and Cracow, are behind the extravagant and unusual design of the third andel´s. The hotel will feature 278 rooms plus an extensive conference area on the ground floor and an 800 m² ballroom for special events on the fourth floor. The top floor will house a wellness area and indoor swimming pool. The hotel forms part of a larger shopping.

angelo Hotel Katowice

In 2009, Vienna International Hotels & Resorts will open a four-star angelo Hotel in Katowice, another of Poland’s important business centres. The design hotel will feature 189 modernly appointed rooms and apartments. Also planned are an in-house restaurant and bar, as well as over 900 m² of conferencing space for conferences, meetings and other events. The angelo Hotel in Katowice is easily reached by car or public transport and has its own parking garage. Katowice’s main train station is within walking distance of the hotel.
