he 2022 Miss Mississippi Competition crowned more than 130 belles and beaus Saturday at the Vicksburg Convention Center. The Miss Mississippi Corp. Belle and Beau Program is geared for young girls and boys from ages 7 to 10. The purpose of the program is to mentor children who have an interest in someday competing in or working on the Miss Mississippi Competition and promoting community service. The current Miss Mississippi Competition local titleholders serve as mentors to their belles and beaus and all Magnolia Belles and Beaus participate in some aspect of the stage production numbers which are part of a major live television show. The belles and beaus have the opportunity, as provided by the local directors and local titleholders, to be part of their respective titleholder’s year. They are encouraged to attend assemblies and meetings where the local titleholder speaks and/ or performs. The local titleholder is encouraged to engage the belles and beaus in any activity that she can to make them feel a part of her year as they prepare for the Miss Mississippi Competition.

2022 MISS MISSISSIPPI GROUPINGS After Monday’s 7 p.m. parade along Washington Street, contestants will sign autographs in the lobby of The Mulberry, 1310 Mulberry St., until 9 p.m. Autograph signings will also be offered during the week at George Carr on South Frontage Road and along Washington Street in downtown Vicksburg. 2022 MISS MISSISSIPPI JUDGES KIMBERLY MORGAN MYLES Kimberly Morgan Myles was crowned Miss Mississippi in 2007, becoming the state’s 50th Miss Mississippi and second African Americ=an to win the title. While in college Myles received her B.S. in Vocal Music from Alcorn State University and her MFA in Acting from the University of Southern Mississippi. She continued her training abroad at the prestigious MYLES Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. Myles also studied and performed in Scotland and France and has taken intensive Shakespeare Master Classes at King’s College in London. Her career includes principal roles in regional theatres, credits in film, commercials, choreography, and hosting. Myles has also directed 40 productions at Tougaloo College and at Jackson State University and written and published numerous plays. She currently serves as the Director of Alumni Affairs at Alcorn State University. Myles is married to Yohance Myles and is the mother of three children. JOHN SMALLING John Smalling, who served as a judge for the Miss Mississippi Pageant in 2015, was affiliated with the Miss Arkansas Pageant for more than 30 years. During his tenure with the Miss Arkansas Pageant, Smalling served on the executive board as

treasurer, was a State Field Director and was stage manager of the Miss Arkansas Pageant. He was also a charter member of the Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen Pageant’s executive board. Smalling has conducted judging seminars and has emceed and judged preliminary and state pageants in Arkansas and other states for many years. Smalling is from Hot Springs Ark. and is retired after a 39-year career in the field of education having served as an administrator in the Lake Hamilton School District. He holds a BSE and a Masters from Arkansas State University with additional graduate work at the University of Arkansas. He and his wife, Becky, have two SMALLING sons and three grandchildren. CALLEE BAUMAN WACHTER Callee Bauman Wachter was crowned Miss South Dakota in 2006, and since then, her involvement with the Miss America Organization has continued. Not only did she found the largest local pageant in South Dakota, where she serves as the executive director, she continues to cultivate new talent and revitalize interest in the Miss America Organization. As an accomplished vocalist, Wachter has performed throughout the U.S. and internationally. She has worked in London promoting the jazz music industry and at Walt Disney World in the entertainment division where she spent her time in a blue gown and

glass slipper. Wachter has released her own music video, CD, and CD single. Currently, she is the sales manager of Precision Planting at Bauman Agency in South Dakota. WACHTER Wachter, also, along with her husband, Jonathan, farm, growing corn and soybeans. The couple has four children and resides in Huron, S.D. DR. JIM KLUMP Dr. Jim Klump has served as a judge for several state competitions, including the 2017 Miss North Dakota panel that selected Cara Mund, who went on to become Miss America 2018. He was the co-executive KLUMP director for the Miss New Mexico Competition for six years and is currently the judge’s chairman for the Miss New Mexico Competition. Klump holds a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from New Mexico State University and a DDS Degree from Creighton University, in Omaha, Neb. After 39 years as a general dentist, he retired in 2019. As a resident of Alamogordo, N. M., Klump has been a member and past president of the Alamogordo Noon Lions Club for 51 years, past

president of the Alamogordo Sports Booster Club, board member of the White Sands Film Festival, and is currently on the Board of Directors of Gerald Champion Regional Hospital. He has been an avid outdoorsman and loves the game of golf. ROB HARVELL Rob Harvell is a Laurinburg, N.C. native. After graduating from Appalachian State University with a degree in communication broadcasting, he began his career in 2005 with an internship HARVELL at NASCAR Productions. In 2006, Harvell landed a full-time role as a producer, overseeing the productions of the NASCAR opening Hall of Fame. His career broadened when he began working with renowned filmmaker Rory Karpf, who was beginning production on an ESPN Films documentary on Wendell Scott, the first African American stock car racing driver to win the Grand National Series. Harvell went on to produce the first season of ESPN’s “SEC Storied” with additional projects including high profile and Emmy nominated films as well as award-winning documentaries. After receiving a call in 2016, Harvell was given the opportunity to direct and produce a feature documentary film on legendary Florida State football coach Bobby Bowden. The film was awarded a Telly Award for Outstanding Sports Television.
