What inspired your medical career?

My medical career was inspired at a young age by a desire to restore compassion in the delivery of care. This desire helped propel me through my medical education journey and has driven me daily in practice.

What values guide your practice and patient care?

Disease prevention and respect for autonomy are the values that have shaped my practice.To accomplish these values, it is imperative to verify the patient understands his or her diagnoses as well as the treatment plan. I try to incorporate education into each visit to ensure that my patients feel empowered to manage their conditions.

What is important for people to know about their health from your perspective?

I believe it is important for patients to know that they are the first line of defense in managing their health. Health starts with disease prevention which is rooted in our meal and activity choices.

When it comes to health care, what is one thing you wish patients/the public knew ordid?

One thing I wish the public knew is that the practice of medicine is an art.Although there are guidelines to practice, each provider will approach problems somewhat differently This makes patients’engage-

My father is a physician and since a young age I’ve always wanted to follow in his footsteps. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the joy and service he gave to others and how rewarding that could be.

I am a first-generation physician that has come from humble beginnings. I have worked hard to navigate multiple types of environments. This has provided me with invaluable insight and understanding of numerous situations presented to me by patients. I use the knowledge I’ve gained over the years from medical education along with the knowledge gained from my social experiences to ensure that I provide compassionate care.

What advice do you have for the Vicksburg community?

It’s never too late to start and even small changes can make a huge difference. It’s important to never lose hope or keep trying even if you don’t meet your healthcare goals at first.

knew or did?

Our daily food choices play a vital role in our health and the way we feel. Have a plan daily and weekly and continue to educate yourself on healthy food choices. The first simple step is drinking mainly water.

What advice do you have for the Vicksburg community?

We have the state’s most visited tourist attraction in the military park. Get out and exercise in this awesome venue!

Is there anything else you’d like to share with the readers about you, your practice or health care in general?

I love sports and was a college athlete. Our health is a lot like being successful in sports. Master the fundamentals (diet, exercise, sleep, manage stress, social interaction, and maintain a healthy weight) and you’ll be successful.

When you find yourself needing help for a loved one please reach out to us. Don’t try to do it alone. Even if you just need 4 hours a week so you can take care of yourself. So many times the family members caring for a loved one gets worn down and sick themselves by doing too much.

My company is available for 4 hours each visit up to 24 hour care.
