VFW Post 2093 The Action Post on the Lake

YOUR VFW & VFWA OFFICERS 2017/2018

From the Commander It's been another month and even though the calendar says it's spring, we are already feeling the heat of summer. We had a very busy month. I want to personally thank everyone that helped out with the Mary Frances benefit. We raised over $5,000 dollars to help a member in need and it was a very good day. It just goes to show that when we work together, we can accomplish anything. Special thanks to the crew at the Longwood post for chipping in and helping out too. I also want to thank Paul Tondini for bringing back something to the post that was done quite a few years ago. We now have a meat fund that will be managed by our Canteen Manager that will be used solely to buy food for the post for special functions.

Russell Carpenter / Go Army!

Thought for the Day ! Attitude is a little thing, that makes a big difference . A praise that we have lost no members since last month. Continue to pray for our country and the decisions made by the leaders as they impact us all. Prayers for our service men and women where ever they may be fighting for yours and my freedom. Godspeed each safely home to their families and friends that are waiting. Pray for our Police Officers and Firemen as they go out daily risking their lives to keep us safe . Remember to step up and do your part, after all this is your POST !

Respectfully Submitted, Chaplain - Sam Ramsey VFW Post 2093 2

Hey Everybody, We have a lot of things going on at the Post. 

Doris is involved with Home Depot again to get more things fixed around the Post.

The Alarm Panel had to be replaced.

The Kitchen is fully operational. All appliances have been repaired.

We still need a lot more Volunteers to help out around the post. We need a Kitchen Manager, a Maintenance Manager, more help at Post Functions. Those who always volunteer, you know who you are and THANK YOU. The EG Kight Concert was amazing. If you didn’t attend, you missed a great performance. One last thing. We had our Installation of Officers on May 21st with a very poor turnout. These Installations are important. Please try to attend in the future. Have a Great VFW / VFWA Day. Gary Godard Quartermaster / Adjutant

From the Auxiliary President Desk Be kind and respectful to all and you will receive the same. Remember Kindness goes along way.

Our year is nearly at the end and I want to thank all the members for the hard work that has been put in to meet the goals of helping our Veterans .Without each and every one of you it would not have been possible to do all we have done. I thank you and the Veterans appreciate our continuing support. Our convention is in June I hope to see more members there. It is a good time to meet new people from other Auxiliaries and learn how to help our Veterans even more. Great ideas come up during conversations. It will be at The Renaissance at SeaWorld. Congratulations to the newly elected officers of the Auxiliary. I look forward to serving as your President for another year and will continue to serve you and our Veterans to the best of my ability. My goals are to help our Veterans even more. Please join me in doing this. Kindness and smiles can be contagious. Pass it around!

Proudly Serving, Jani Ramsey, Auxiliary President Post 2093 Lifetime Member

Camp Lejeune: Past Water Contamination From the 1950s through the 1980s, people living or working at the U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, were potentially exposed to drinking water contaminated with industrial solvents, benzene, and other chemicals.

Disability compensation VA has established a presumptive service connection for Veterans, Reservists, and National Guard members exposed to contaminants in the water supply at Camp Lejeune from August 1, 1953 through December 31, 1987 who later developed one of the following eight diseases: Adult leukemia, Aplastic anemia and other myelodysplastic syndromes, Bladder cancer, Kidney cancer, Liver cancer, multiple myeloma, Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Parkinson's disease. Presently, these conditions are the only ones for which there is sufficient scientific and medical evidence to support the creation of presumptions; however, VA will continue to review relevant information as it becomes available.
