2020 Sauvignon Blanc WINEMAKER NOTES
The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc bursts out of the glass with bright aromatics and flavor. On the nose, notes of Meyer lemon, lemongrass and lychee are immediately expressive, and undertones of gravel and slate minerality can be detected. On the second pour, subtle hints of green apple also shine through. On the palate, underripe honeydew melon and white peach, pear, lemon zest, and wet rock are present. The acidity is medium to high showcasing the balance of the warm Calistoga climate, aging process in stainless and oak, and the vibrance of the fruit. The resulting wine has a crisp clean finish with plenty of depth and verve. BACKGROUND
The vines in the five-acre Sauvignon Blanc block of Frediani Vineyards were planted specifically for Vermeil Wines in the days of Jeanne Frediani ( Jim Frediani’s mother and on-time matriarch of the family and business). The soil in that section of the vineyard is heavy, rich, and comprised mostly of Bale clay loams that are perfect for this varietal. APPELLATION: ALC. BY VOL .:
