8 Maintenance

8.1 General maintenance

ATTENTION!

Care must be taken to keep the machine well lubricated with food grease approved for use in food processing by the relevant regulatory authority. Lubricate the entire the machine before it is used. Lubricate all fast rotating shafts of the machine every 6 hrs. during processing. Other lubricated surfaces every 24 hrs. during processing.

ATTENTION! Never use air powered lubrication hoses to lubricate the machine.

Preventive actions

If the machine is unused for some time e.g. a week or longer, remove the scraper knife from the machine. Take the knife out with the attached holder. To do this, it is enough to loosen bolt (47) (Figure 8.1) and pull the bolt (48) (Figure 8.2) out. Put the knives in their place at the Marin workshop.

ATTENTION! Spray the machine with certified food protection machine oil, preferably 2 x per month and also every time the ship docks or if processing stops for shorter or longer periods

8.2 Lubrication

Lubricate the machine with approved grease that has been approved by Velfag ehf. To lubricate, the machine must be stopped by pressing the emergency stop button, use appropriate personal protective equipment.

ATTENTION! Never use air powered lubrication hoses to lubricate the machine.

Lubricate every 6 hours all fast rotating shafts and every 8-12 hours all other grease fittings. Make sure that all the fast rotating shafts are filled with grease until the lubricant comes out, that the lubrication space is full and all the water is gone.
