LET’S TALK MALE ENHANCEMENT >>>

An Interview with Edward M. Zimmerman, M.D.

Edward M. Zimmerman, M.D. is a world-renowned cosmetic surgeon with years of experience providing aesthetic care to both men and women. It is Dr. Zimmerman’s focus on male health and enhancement however that really sets him apart. I had the opportunity to sit down with him to discuss the many ways that he assists men with looking and feeling their best.

Stephanie Shehan: Tell me about your background.

Dr. Zimmerman: I was raised in the Washington DC area—the only child of Jewish parents. My father served in the Air Force and later transitioned into finance, with a specific focus on banking, mergers, and acquisitions. My mother was a staff aide to a U.S. senator and held a master's degree in modern art. She served as a docent at a prominent art gallery and the Walter Reed Medical Museum. I was blessed with their combined love for music, theater, gardening, and art, as well as an innate curiosity about how mechanical and natural elements interacted, disassembled, and could be reassembled to function better, longer, and in new ways. Like many kids, I played piano and other instruments, took French, and played kickball.

However, my interest in mechanics and science started at a very young age. In junior high and high school, I worked after school at a local bike shop, building racing bikes, mowing lawns and painting kitchens for neighbors. I had a preceptorship at the National Bureau of Standards, where I collaborated with PhDs on mass spectrometry and gas chromatography for a baseline study of the environmental impact of the Alaskan pipeline. I also designed and built a functional air cushion vehicle, which was later donated to the H.B. Owens Science Museum in Maryland.

Pennsylvania, north of Pittsburgh. I was thrilled to care for my patient panel of all ages and learn about inpatient and outpatient procedures from specialists who were excited to teach. By my second year of residency, I was moonlighting in three different emergency rooms, soaking up experience and knowledge like a sponge. I graduated and was awarded the STFM Resident Teaching Award for my year. I joined the residency faculty, helped found the multispecialty private office, and continue to excel in surgical procedures and devices. In the early 1990s, I introduced the first CO2 laser for primary care procedures to Western Pennsylvania. It was used for resection of lumps, bumps, external hemorrhoids, vasectomies, ingrown toenails, skin cancers, and treatment of stasis ulcers. One day, a patient asked me to remove a benign skin lesion with the CO2 laser that was not covered by his insurance. That small cash transaction was the "ah-ha" moment that allowed me to transition to care for patients without being encumbered by bureaucracy and insurance companies. The rest is history.

Over time, my focus changed. I served as faculty for the National Procedures Institute for over a decade, became a Diplomate of the American Board of Laser Surgery and Cosmetic Surgery, and joined the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American College of Phlebology, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, among other professional organizations. I have been active as a faculty member, examiner, and at the board level for state, national, and international organizations, where I have had the honor of serving for over 25 years.

SS: What helped you pave the way to male enhancement?

When I moved to Baltimore and went to Johns Hopkins University, I was away from home for the first time. I learned a lot while living in the dorms, participating in JV fencing and the student co-op, running sound in the quad, and singing and playing guitar at open mic nights in the Rathskeller. I was a small fish in a much bigger pond of intellectually gifted, driven, accomplished, competitive students, swimming in a C-curve academic experience where nearly everyone was declared or secretly pre-med. I not only managed to survive, but also graduated with departmental honors in Biology, and subsequently earned an accelerated Master's degree in Physiology from Georgetown University. The following year, I was admitted to the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, where I completed my MD and performed prosections under the guidance of Richard Snell, the Director of the Anatomy Department (who literally wrote the book). Following that, I completed a residency in Family Medicine at a program in Beaver,

Dr. Z: I was one of the first 25 U.S. physicians to travel to Colombia for hands-on training in High-Definition liposculpting with Alfredo Hoyos and Ron Broadway in the early 2000s. Part of the curriculum involves utilizing fat as a structural and regenerative graft to accentuate and sculpt specific parts of the body beyond what Mother Nature provided for that individual. Facial fat grafting, "natural" breast augmentation, what later became the BBL, and male girth enhancement, as well as sculpting muscles from the forehead to the feet, have become a passion. Not all patients have sufficient quantities and quality of fat to undergo male girth enhancement, or they do not want to deal with the recovery of a donor site. Athletes and smokers are generally not good candidates for fat grafting. Other materials, including FDA-approved fillers for facial use, could be adopted for use "off-label." Consequently, new instruments and techniques were developed to make this a reality. The HapPenis procedure is one that I created and have perfected over the last two decades. The methods are proprietary, and the name is registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

SS: What is it about male enhancement and overall men's health that you would like everyone to know?

Dr. Z: The goal for humankind is to add functional health span to our increasing lifespan. Part of this involves limiting toxins and increasing antioxidants in our environment and diet, improving exercise, sleep, and work-life balance, and replacing hormones, supplements, and cofactors that we need as we age. We feel and perform better when our physicality aligns with our intellectual and spiritual functions. Regenerative medicine of all types aids this. Cosmetic enhancements for men include hair restoration, revolumizing face, neck, chest, arms, sometimes the buttocks, and often the penis and testes. The presentation of the male reproductive organ appears to be directly tied to the male psyche, spirit, and abilities to thrive in work and life. We are fortunate to live in an era where medical and cosmetic advancements can enable us to enhance the shapes and contours that Mother Nature endowed us with at birth.

SS: What are the most common issues that you see coming through your office?

Dr. Z: Some of the most significant issues that present repeatedly are the lack of knowledge, expectations, and appropriate vocabulary that surround male and female sexuality, anatomy, and function, which have little to no scientific basis. Patients are often relieved to discover how frequently other patients share their concerns in these "taboo" areas of knowledge.

SS: Where do you see men's health and wellness going in the years to come?

Dr. Z: As the myths and misconceptions of human sexuality are discarded

and big Pharma/government-biased, economically driven dogma and restrictions are lifted in the regenerative sciences, more people will have access to affordable care, wellness, and physique.

SS: Why should our readers come to see you?

Dr. Z: There is currently no educational pathway or medical board that encompasses regenerative medicine in the complex interplay of the physical, hormonal, and spiritual aspects of male health from puberty to old age. You are your own best advocate in this arena. Insurance companies do not care and cover little of the services that truly evaluate and optimize your health span. The best one can do is to choose to work with physicians like me, who have decades of experience, research, passion, compassion, integrity, and honesty. We surround ourselves with like-minded peers and staff who continue to push the boundaries of what we can accomplish together. We educate, explore, enhance, and MacGyver techniques and technologies together in ways that no one has done before.

Like I say about pickles, "Bring me your Man-Parts, I can help.” The puns, double entendres, dad jokes, and occasional sarcasm are included at no extra charge!

STRONG, SMART, AND STILL HERE

>>> A

Father’s Day Message on Men’s Health & Longevity

This Father’s Day, let’s celebrate something deeper than neckties and BBQs. Let’s honor the men who’ve shown up for their families —by helping them show up for themselves. Because real strength isn’t just about grit; it’s about health. And longevity isn’t just about living longer—it’s about living better, with purpose, clarity, and vitality that carries through every season of life. At Elite Medical Associates, we believe men deserve a personalized, proactive approach to aging. This abridged article offers a preview of our full evidence-based guide, available at https://elitemedlv.com/ blog, and covers the six most impactful areas every man should address for a stronger, smarter, and longer life.

First, let’s talk about stress—not just the kind you feel, but the kind your body wears. Chronic stress is a silent accelerant of disease. Elevated cortisol quietly drives belly fat, weakens immunity, and even shrinks brain tissue. It erodes testosterone, deepens fatigue, and ages you at the cellular level. Yet most men simply power through. But resilience isn’t about ignoring stress—it’s about mastering it. Just 10 minutes of daily box breathing or mindfulness can recalibrate your nervous system, lowering cortisol and improving heart rate variability. Regular exercise amplifies this effect, offering a natural reset for both body and mind. Think of stress management not as self-care—but as a survival strategy.

And what about testosterone—the hormone that fuels motivation, muscle, libido, and even mood? After age 30, testosterone declines about 1% per year. You may not notice it overnight, but over time, it adds up. Low T has been linked to insulin resistance, depression, and decreased life expectancy. But here’s the good news: it’s not just age—it’s lifestyle. Prioritizing sleep, resistance training, and essential nutrients like zinc and vitamin D can naturally restore hormonal balance. At Elite Med, we go deeper with advanced hormone panels and evidence-based protocols—including bioidentical therapies when appropriate—to help men reclaim their edge while preserving fertility.

Muscle isn’t just about strength—it’s about survival. Skeletal muscle acts like a metabolic engine, burning fat, balancing blood sugar, and releasing anti-inflammatory compounds that benefit the entire body. Studies have shown that low muscle mass predicts mortality better than high blood pressure. If you care about longevity, you need to care about muscle. That means prioritizing resistance training, protein intake, and proven support like creatine monohydrate. At Elite Med, we track muscle mass through DEXA and grip strength, because we treat muscle like the essential organ it is—not a vanity metric, but a vital sign. Of course, even the most disciplined man can’t out-lift undetected disease. Preventive care isn’t just a checkbox—it’s a superpower. Most heart attacks and strokes occur in people who looked “normal” on standard labs. That’s why we test deeper. ApoB, Lp(a), hs-CRP, fasting insulin, and visceral fat mapping give us the true story. We also screen for cognitive decline, prostate and colon cancer, and silent liver disease, long before symptoms appear. Waiting for warning signs is a gamble. Knowing your numbers early gives you the chance to rewrite your future.

Cognitive decline doesn’t start at 80. It begins silently—in your 40s and 50s—through poor sleep, inflammation, insulin resistance, and chronic stress. Yet the same habits that sharpen your body can protect your

brain. Daily movement boosts brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), improving memory and plasticity. Omega-3s, B vitamins, curcumin, and even intermittent fasting can lower neuroinflammation. And don’t underestimate sleep—it’s your brain’s self-cleaning cycle. We help men track and protect brain health with advanced labs and cognitive screening—because staying sharp is a cornerstone of staying strong.

Finally, perhaps the most underestimated longevity lever of all: connection and purpose. Men with strong relationships and a clear sense of meaning don’t just live longer—they recover faster, feel better, and age more slowly. Social isolation, on the other hand, raises mortality risk as much as smoking. As physicians, we’ve seen it firsthand: the man who shows up for others often forgets to show up for himself. But the science is clear—your relationships, community, and sense of purpose are as important to your heart as your cholesterol levels. So pick up the phone, plan that trip, mentor that neighbor. It all counts. Your presence matters.

At Elite Medical Associates, we help men build personalized longevity plans that combine cutting-edge diagnostics with timeless lifestyle principles. This article offers just a glimpse of what’s possible when you stop settling for “normal aging” and start aiming for optimized living. Visit https://elitemedlv.com/blog to read the full article, and consider this your invitation to take the next step. Because the greatest gift you can give your loved ones is your continued presence—strong, smart, and still here.

>>> MEET THE TRAINERS Garrett Tunis - Manager at BODY20

BACKGROUND…

I am from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I love to fish, spearfish, ski, and hike - anything outdoors to be honest. I played baseball for about eleven years then attended college at Florida State University where I received my undergrad in accounting. I recently finished up my master’s degree in taxation at Florida Atlantic University and I am currently studying to become a Certified Public Accountant.

WORKING AT BODY20…

Here at BODY20, I am an owner and manager - I like to think of myself as a utility man. I can train, do sales, suit people up and do marketing.

WHY PERSONAL TRAINING…

My family is big on working out. Growing up, we were always playing sports and staying fit. But, the science behind BODY20 is what really got me into personalized training. I love that in just 20 minutes, you are guaranteed 36,000 muscle contractions which is equivalent to four hours in the gym. BODY20 is for everyone, from people that have never worked out to bodybuilders that train consistently.

TOP THREE TRAINING TIPS…

The top three training tips that I give to everyone are:

1. Eat your body weight in grams of protein each day.

2. Stay hydrated - try drinking up to a gallon of water a day and if you can, try hydrogen water which has been a complete game changer in my recovery process.

3. Aim for at least 8 hours of sleep a night as sleep is critical for recovery and to gain muscle.

WHY BODY20…

Honestly, I really love the people here at BODY20. Since our studio sees an average of 60-75 people a day, I am constantly meeting new people and making connections with existing clients. Who knows, you may end up getting a new pet from someone here like I did. Now, I have my dog Archie and I am so grateful to have met Shelby who gave me Archie right here at the studio.

WHY JOIN…

We are a fitness studio that uses Electro Muscle Stimulation (EMS) technology, we are quite different from traditional gyms. Your first session usually involves a consultation to assess your fitness goals, health status, and body composition using our InBody scan. Each session is short but intense, equivalent to hours of traditional training. You'll wear a suit with electrodes that send impulses to your muscles while you perform trainer-led exercises. Every session is guided by a certified BODY20 coach, ensuring correct form, safety, and motivation. Body20 is marketed for people with busy schedules. Sessions are just 20 minutes, with only 1–2 sessions per week often recommended.

INSPIRATION…

My family really inspires me by showing unconditional love, resilience, and support. Their strength through challenges and belief in me motivates me to work harder, stay grounded, and pursue my goals with purpose.

DEFYING AGE & INJURY AS A COMBAT SPORTS ATHLETE Scars Tell the Story and 50 Doesn’t Suck

An old adage in boxing goes, ‘It’s not the hardest punch that knocks you out – it’s the punch you never saw coming.”

It’s March 2025, after midnight in Las Vegas, and I’m living the wisdom of those words. Laying in a hospital bed in the critical care unit.

Frank Da Organic Tank — one of the world’s first 3,000 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts, founder of ForzaFit, athlete ambassador for the “50 Don’t Suck” movement — has an IV drip line steadily pumping emergency, last-resort antibiotics into my arm vein and numerous wires connected to the chest monitoring my vital signs.

If you’re so healthy, if you know so much about longevity and being an age-defying athlete via all-natural methods, then why are you hospitalized Organic Boy?

Many of life’s most unforgettable lessons are forged, not in laboratories and ivory towers, but in the fires, trials and trenches. “Strep” means throat infections, right? Turns out, there are menacing and vicious Group A Streptococcus pyogenes skin infections whose cases have surged over the past decade. Typically even more aggressive than MRSA staph infections, which are impervious to most antibiotics.

I underestimated a tiny red bump behind my knee, which eventually spread like wildfire. Now here we are, Mr. All Natty rooting for the mainstream medical system and its pharmacological methods to save his leg.

I’m injured. AGAIN. I can barely walk and can’t feed my lifelong addictions, which include jiu jitsu, wrestling, shadowboxing, yoga, weightlifting and hiking.

I’m injured so much I’ve developed an irresistible habit of walking up to perfect strangers and asking them, “Excuse me, I noticed that scar on your (blank). I’ve fought through a lot of injuries myself. What happened there?”

People think, “What audacity… that’s so rude!” But you know what — these perfect strangers always tell me the story behind their scars.

My own body features a plethora of scars and permanent body asymmetries that tell many stories. They include:

At 19 years old, I became the youngest known American to ever undergo a bypass surgery of any kind;

The only tattoos I have are the scars I’ve earned, including one that is 27 inches long;

Surviving multiple blood clots, including DVT’s (deep vein thrombosis);

A titanium plate fused to my spine;

18 completely-out-of-the-socket shoulder dislocations;

Five surgeries;

Three broken hands; multiple concussions; black eyes; torn rib cartilage; broken fingers; shin fractures; four chipped teeth, five torn knee ligaments, a severely popped elbow…

‘Breaking my body, building my soul’ as I said during a past TEDx talk. “Amor fati,” the ancient stoics taught. Love your fate “and when you know better, do better,” Maya Angelou said.

Despite a long list of physical injuries, today at 53 I take exactly zero pain meds. No painkillers nor NSAID’s. For my entire adult life — no marijuana, no cannabis, no anabolic steroids, no TRT, no plastic surgery, no exogenous hormones, stem cells nor synthetic peptides.

A lot of people say “Frank, I admire your discipline and results but you’re too skinny and your methods are too extreme.” No, you know what is extreme — 140 million adult Americans who the CDC estimates have diabetes or pre-diabetes. You know what is extreme — a society where up to 75 percent of adults are obese or overweight and where sickness becomes the norm. You know what’s extreme — a nation where “it’s your genes” is a widespread form of mental defeatism and one nation by itself — a single country out of 195 — accounts for up to 50 percent of worldwide pharmaceutical drug revenues. (Mic drop).

I see a nation of sugar addicts (myself included) where insulin resistance is the 800-pound gorilla driving most modern First World diseases (chronic excess stress, cortisol and adrenal overload coming in at No. 2). For many of us, the biggest pitfall isn’t knowing what to put on our plate — it’s choosing what to feed our minds. Mindset — “Mindjitsu” as I named and refer to it — is the First Mover. We won’t change our physiology if we don’t first change our psychology and redesign our life in a way that allows us to authentically express, exemplify and embody our foremost values and ethos.

Many think they need to buy dozens of supplements each month to stay healthy. My own fitness philosophy, nutritional, hydrational and core methods lean heavily in the opposite direction: “Addition by Subtraction

& Addition by Prevention.” More focus on preventing, eliminating and detoxing the junk — rather than constantly obsessing over what we need to ADD. More emphasis on preparing our own whole food meals, intermittent fasting, daily sun exposure, cutting out highly processed foods, slashing sugars and carbs, buying organic and tenaciously revolutionizing what’s in our shopping cart and refrigerator.

Our battle versus the bulge often begins in our brain. It boggles my mind how many people tell me they don’t want to live past 75 or 80. They are mentally blocked by dark, gloomy forecasts of the future (often selffulfilling, by the way). Selling themselves short and getting pennies on the dollar of their true potential.

For me, being super healthy and utilizing movement as meditation is all I’ve ever known. Growing up in Baltimore’s rougher zip codes, where prison rules prevailed, I lived with my mother for only a few years. I never met my father, whose identity was kept secret for most of my life and who played eight years with the NFL’s Baltimore Colts and once played for legendary coach Vince Lombardi. Some back in Baltimore turned to drug addiction to escape and crime to pay the bills; I learned at a young age how to exercise my imagination and get lost in play. Chasing a ball, tackling someone and playing outdoors distracted me from worrying about where my next “home” or temporary living situation would be.

After two and half days in the hospital earlier this year, my nightmarish leg infection is gone, though it did leave a nasty scar. I am lucky: I have pushed my body to the max and lived to tell. Today, writing these words, I feel as powerful, determined and focused as I have in the past 10 years with unlimited growth potential pumping through my veins.

In August, here in Vegas, I’ll be pursuing my seventh IBJJF (Jiu Jitsu)

Masters World title. Last year I accomplished what had once seemed unimaginable: I cut 16 pounds to a lower weight class. Looking frail, and at about 2% bodyfat, I submitted all three of my opponents and had ample energy for five more matches if needed. Yep, overcame a major injury in that one, too.

Great adversity always extends a great opportunity. After injury, I always aim higher, dig deeper, climb farther and bounce back stronger.

The most remarkable thing the Hurt Biz has taught me is the remarkable power of the human body and spirit to heal from horrific injuries and traumas. It blows my mind and that is why I choose to find meaning in suffering and keep charging forward. If you’re hurting and limping in your own way, I challenge you to rethink and reimagine what is possible. How much can you heal? What is possible via natural methods rather than using steroids and TRT? What is the Mindjitsu perspective and mental shift that will make you wake up and reclaim your health?

I woke up today. Super healthy. Pep in my step, gleam in my eye, smile on my face. Everything still works.

Would I trade places with a sick and unhealthy billionaire?

No, I would not.

What does that mean?

It means your bank account is a form of wealth but not the ultimate measure of it. It means that 50, 60, 70 and 80 don’t have to suck.

It means that if you woke up healthy then today is a Billion Dollar Day.

>>> THRIVE UNDER PRESSURE Healing at Desert Moon Wellness

A Father’s Day Message from Desert Moon Wellness

At Desert Moon Wellness, we believe men deserve just as much support, restoration, and care as anyone else. Whether you're a high-performing athlete, a busy dad, a veteran, or someone carrying the weight of the world—your healing matters.

Pictured here is Cory Ardizzone, a dedicated father and the heartbeat of our center. His journey through autoimmune disease and resilience through biohacking inspires us all. Today, he oversees our systems and walks shoulder to shoulder with the men we serve—creating a safe, cutting-edge space to recalibrate and recover.

We offer powerful modalities like PEMF, light therapy, BrainTap, and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy—customized for men’s physical, mental, and cellular health.

Because strong doesn’t mean silent. And healing isn’t weakness—it’s leadership.

At Desert Moon Wellness, our support for men goes far beyond one modality. We integrate science-backed technologies and personalized protocols to help men reset, repair, and reclaim their vitality. Our male-focused wellness stacks include the modalities below and more:

• High-Intensity PEMF for cellular voltage and muscle recovery

• AVACEN Therapy to increase microcirculation and reduce pain

• NanoVi for oxidative stress repair at the cellular level

• Compression Therapy to support lymphatic flow and reduce inflammation

• OmniWave Sound Therapy

• Gainswave

• InHarmony Vibroacoustic Therapy for nervous system reset and brain body coherence

Every protocol is designed to support brain and body integration—because real strength begins with regulation, not resistance.

This Father’s Day, invest in your wellness. Or better yet, gift it to a man you love.

Thrive Under Pressure

Ten years ago, I was physically depleted, spiritually disconnected, and emotionally done pretending everything was okay. I wasn’t just looking for relief, I was longing for connection.

That longing became a mission. That mission became Desert Moon Wellness.

I didn’t realize I was laying the foundation for something far bigger than myself. I knew I needed to heal. Not just feel "less bad," but feel vibrant. Safe. I didn’t want band-aids. I wanted a life that felt alive. The ripple

effect was magical to witness. I started with what I could control: my environment, my thoughts, my choices. I detoxed physically and emotionally. I returned to breath, to prayer, to rhythm. I began listening to my body again.

And something shifted. SIx months in, I healed. I conceived.

That transformation became my compass during my eighth pregnancy. After five miscarriages and two hospital births, I entered this pregnancy with a new vision believing in my body's ability.

I was ready to rewrite my story.

That’s when I first used Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). I used it just five times, 1.3 ATA in a soft-shell chamber, but the results were undeniable. It reduced inflammation, improved oxygen flow, and supported the healing rhythm I had begun. During that pregnancy, my husband Cory joined me on the journey—mindfully embracing the wellness path alongside me. Just three weeks after Makena Moon was born, he suffered a traumatic brain injury. It was devastating. Hyperbaric therapy was the only thing that gave Cory any relief. And for me, it became an essential part of our journey.

And when our daughter, Makena Moon, came into the world peacefully at home under the early morning sky, I felt the full circle moment. She was our light. Her name became the inspiration behind Desert Moon Wellness.

To live better and help others do the same.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Light Therapy, Infrared Sauna, Meditation, and spending time in nature became essential to ours and our children's lives.

Our journey had just begun.

Fast Forward - The first year of our center was filled with lessons—challenges with our team, our systems, and our personal lives. Around that time, my husband Cory received a serious autoimmune diagnosis. It was a shock, but also a reminder: Healing is not a one-time event. It’s a lifelong relationship.

I had strayed from my rituals. I was running on stress. That time brought me back to what I knew: My breath, My body’s wisdom, My truth.

Because healing isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence.

One of the most powerful tools I utilized was BrainTap. When I first tried it in 2021, I was blown away. I’d leaned on meditation and intuitive grounding for years, but BrainTap made it instantly accessible. It uses light, sound, and guided visualization to shift the brain into a relaxed, coherent

state. In minutes, you feel what takes monks years to master: clarity, peace, focus. It helps you remember what ease feels like.

Because the brain is the pilot, If it’s in survival mode, the body can’t heal.

That’s why we always start with the brain. At Desert Moon, every new client begins with a Neural Chek scan—a real-time snapshot of nervous system balance. From there, we tailor a BrainTap session, stacking it with the Align Mat: a 30-pound mat infused with PEMF, crystals, and infrared to ground and align the body.

We do this before you ever step into the hyperbaric chamber.

Why? Because when your brain feels safe, your body gets permission to heal. That’s the intention.

And yes, we use steel chambers with advanced pressure protocols from 1.3 to 2.6 ATA. We’re meticulous about safety and outcomes. But more than anything, we hold space. Because healing doesn’t start with a machine—it starts with compassion.

Desert Moon is a family. Cory has been with me since day one. It’s been our shared path—especially after his diagnosis—that shaped what Desert Moon is today. His story is layered, inspiring, and deeply human. Our oldest son brings joy to clients daily while the other children do what they can. This is our heart on display.

Over the past three years, we’ve supported hundreds of healing journeys and consulted with practitioners nationwide to expand this care.

And the most beautiful part? These tools don’t have to stay in a clinic. Alongside our chambers, light therapy, saunas, BrainTap and the Align Mat are now some of our most popular at-home options. Families use these tools to calm kids after school, reset during stressful days, and reconnect. Because healing isn’t something you schedule. It’s something you live.

If you’re still reading, I want to speak to the part of you that’s hopeful. That aches to feel aligned in mind, body, and soul.

There is. And you can.

You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to know the science. You just have to start. Start with a Neural Chek. Let us meet you. Let us show you what’s happening in your nervous system. From there, we build a plan— guided by data, yes, but led by care.

Because we don’t just believe in healing. We believe in you.

You were never meant to stay in pain. You were never meant to live small. You were made to thrive…even under pressure.

And we’re here to walk with you, every breath of the way.

ANTIFRAGILITY IS EVERYTHING TOXIC MASCULINITY PRETENDS TO BE

How Rugged CrossFit is quietly redefining what it means to be strong—without the mirrors or macho bullshit.

I recently spent an embarrassing amount of time designing my dream living room: a serene little sanctuary with a fluffy rug, a low coffee table and mounds of comfy floor cushions where I could breathe deep, sip something herbal, and feel smug about my inner peace. The idea was to ditch the basic couch-and-coffee-table setup and go full Boho dreamscape, drink adaptogenic lattes, sprawl like a tantric house cat, and float effortlessly between text pings and spiritual downloads. I imagined incense curling through sunbeams, a couple of sound bowls in the corner, and me, radiating peaceful productivity like some kind of enlightened goddess.

In reality? I made it to the floor once, couldn’t get back up, rolled sideways onto a dog bed like a broken beetle, and laid there wondering if this was how it all ends. That’s when it hit me: I didn’t need more throw pillows. I needed stronger legs, a tighter core and knees that didn’t scream in pain.

Because I’m only halfway through this ride—I’m 52 and I fully expect to live to 100—I’d like to make it through the next 50 years without requiring a forklift to get off the couch. I want strength that lasts. Not just ripped abs and bulging biceps. Real strength. The kind that lets you lift your carry-on into the overhead bin without popping a rib. The kind that keeps you sharp, steady, and upright through the chaos of life.

That’s what led me to Rugged CrossFit 702

Now, before you assume I’ve gone full gym rat, let me clarify: I am not the kind of person who naturally gravitates toward burpees or box jumps. I don’t even like wearing shoes with laces. But this isn’t about chasing aesthetics or trying to relive my 20s. It’s about rebuilding the kind of strength that doesn’t flinch when life gets heavy. The kind that doesn’t just survive stress, but adapts and gets stronger. In other words: antifragility.

What Is Antifragility?

Where resilience is bouncing back to baseline, antifragility is leveling up because of the chaos. It’s what happens when stress doesn’t just not break you. It builds you. And not in that cheesy “whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” kind of way. More like: what challenges reshapes you. Refines you. Expands your capacity.

Your muscles? Pure antifragile magic. They don’t grow by avoiding effort. They grow because of it. You lift something heavy, they tear a little, and then they rebuild, stronger than before. The same goes for your nervous system, your immune system, and—if you’re paying attention—your emotional bandwidth.

Antifragility requires discomfort. Not masochism, not grind culture, but healthy friction. The kind that supports adaptation. It's hardwired into growth, but it doesn’t come with applause. No one’s handing you a gold star for eating protein and facing your emotional baggage, but those are the reps that matter.

Antifragility isn’t about being invincible. It’s about becoming someone who can bend without breaking. And if you do break, you get back up smarter, stronger, and with better stories.

And here’s the thing: being antifragile doesn’t mean you’re never fragile. It means you can be, and you don’t fear it. You break sometimes. You rest. You recalibrate. And then you get back up, not as the same version of yourself, but as someone a little stronger, a little wiser, and a whole lot harder to knock down.

Antifragility vs. Toxic Masculinity

Now let’s clear something up. Antifragile does not mean “tough guy energy.” In fact, it’s the opposite of that rigid, clenched-jaw, “never show weakness” nonsense that toxic masculinity pushes.

Toxic masculinity glorifies a brittle kind of strength. Performative. Inflexible. Terrified of softness. It’s the emotional equivalent of skipping leg day: looks fine on the surface until life knocks you sideways.

And it’s not just a guy thing. It’s a societal thing. We’ve all been trained, in one way or another, to equate vulnerability with failure. But antifragility invites softness where it serves, and strength where it counts. It says: You can rest. You can cry. You can ask for help. And then you can get back up and deadlift a metaphor—or an actual barbell—when you’re ready.

It’s the kind of strength that doesn’t have to prove itself. It just shows up.

Which brings us back to Rugged CrossFit 702.

Antifragility

In Action: Rugged-Style

When I dropped in for a class, I expected to feel awkward and out of place. But from the jump (not the box kind), I was welcomed like I’d always been there. Coach Candi gave a full rundown of the workout and made sure we had beginner-friendly versions. She checked in often, not like a gym teacher with a whistle, but more like a friend who actually wants you to succeed.

The vibe was focused, welcoming, and refreshingly chill. One of the trainers, Jesus, wasn’t even coaching that day but still came over to chat. That’s when I realized: this wasn’t just a gym. It was a community.

After class, I sat down with owner Mike Miller, who told me the whole thing started with a broken hand. “I was prepping for American Ninja Warrior,” he said, grinning. “Then I broke my hand and realized, I’m too old to be jumping through obstacles.”

He and his girlfriend Mandi stumbled onto Rugged as members and immediately knew it felt like home. When the gym came up for sale, Mike jumped on the opportunity. Since then, they’ve upgraded the space with new mats, a 24-hour open gym, and “Shit Storm Sundays,” which are exactly as intense as they sound. But what really makes Rugged different isn’t the gear. It’s the people.

“No one here cares how much money you make or what you do. You’re all sweating together. It equalizes everyone.”

There are no cliques. No egos. Just real people doing real work—parents with kids in tow, beginners lifting beside veterans. It’s gritty, honest, and

zero percent pretentious.

“For me, it’s about longevity,” Mike said. “It’s about making sure you can move well into your 60s and beyond. This isn’t just about lifting weights. It’s about making sure you can pick up your grandkids without throwing your back out.”

What struck me most was how this place embodies everything antifragility stands for. Not just physical strength, but emotional flexibility. Accountability without ego. People pushing themselves and checking in on each other. Not just in reps, but in recovery.

There are no mirrors. Nobody’s flexing for the ‘gram. Just presence. Real people. Showing up. Falling down. Getting stronger. Because true strength isn’t about how much you can carry. It’s about how well you rebuild, how often you rise, and how gracefully you stay in the game, even as you age.

Rugged reminded me that strength doesn’t have to be stoic and sharpedged. It can be soft-spoken and sweaty. Collaborative. Compassionate. Even fun.

Do I still hate burpees? Of course. But I’ve come to respect what this kind of training builds, not just in the body, but in the psyche.

Turns out, the goal wasn’t to be tough after all. It was to become antifragile. Visit Rugged CrossFit 702 at 6040 S Fort Apache Rd #101, Las Vegas, NV 89148 and find out what you’re really capable of.

EASY DAY FOUNDATION

Bridging Military Service and Civilian Life with Purpose, Passion and Pop Culture

In a world where veterans are often thanked but not always supported in meaningful ways, we created our non-profit, Easy Day Foundation to be more than a gesture; it’s a lifeline. Our mission is simple but powerful: help veterans successfully transition to civilian life by offering critical support in mental health, career development and community reintegration. Founded on the belief that service doesn't end when the uniform comes off, we’re committed to meeting veterans where they are and walking alongside them through the next chapter of their lives.

The journey from military to civilian life is not an easy one. For many veterans, this transition can be disorienting, isolating and overwhelming. The Easy Day Foundation was born out of our desire to change that narrative. We’ve seen firsthand how a lack of accessible resources, especially in mental health, can hold back even the strongest individuals. We wanted to create something that didn’t just thank our heroes but truly stood by them with tools, mentorship and opportunity.

What makes Easy Day unique is how we blend high-energy, culture-driven live events with purposeful fundraising. Our model allows the public to celebrate, engage and give back simultaneously proving that supporting veterans doesn’t have to be somber. It can be dynamic, fun and deeply meaningful. From celebrity-hosted events to community activations, our fundraising efforts create tangible impact. Proceeds go directly to vetted nonprofit partners such as Boot Campaign, UNLV’s Military and Veteran Services Center, Team Rubicon and Fisher House Foundation. All of the non-profit organizations we serve are boots-on-the-ground, delivering real change for those who served.

That’s why partnering with the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs) felt like the perfect fit. Airing live on May 26 from the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on CBS and Paramount+, the AMAs represented an iconic opportunity to spotlight veterans on a global stage during Military Appreciation Month. This collaboration wasn’t just about visibility, it was about action.

As the Official Foundation Partner of this year’s AMAs, we proudly brought

“Easy Day Moments” to the broadcast. These special segments included curated performances, inspirational tributes to service members and even the presentation of a special Easy Day award. Portions of the audience seating were reserved for veterans, giving these heroes a night to remember, front and center.

We also launched in-show fundraising efforts where fans could support a range of national and local veteran service organizations. Additionally, attendees and viewers had the chance to win custom boots and apparel signed by celebrities, turning pop culture moments into meaningful fundraising opportunities.

Our goal at this year’s AMAs was not just to pay tribute, but to shine a light on the needs of millions of veterans navigating life after service. For far too long, the challenges facing veterans, particularly around mental health, have been overlooked or underfunded. Through Easy Day, and collaborations like this, we’re changing that.

Our impact also extends beyond high-profile events and national broadcasts. Easy Day-led campaigns, like our Heroes Hired Program, are examples of how we’re building support at the local level. Through this initiative, we provided Veteran students with professional attire, resume reviews and interview coaching to help them confidently enter the civilian workforce. It’s a program rooted in dignity, empowerment and preparedness. When you help someone suit up for an interview with confidence and purpose, you’re not just preparing them for a job, you’re reinforcing their value in society.

Whether it’s helping a veteran land a civilian job, access counseling, or connect with a supportive peer community, Easy Day stands ready to assist. We believe veterans deserve more than recognition, they deserve results.

As two people who believe deeply in service, both in and out of uniform, we are proud to lead an organization that is turning gratitude into action.

Landon Gyulay & Frank Fertitta IV by Louiie Victa Easy Day Foundation UNLV

If you're reading this and wondering how to get involved, visit easyday.org, support our events, or simply spread the word. Every action matters, and every dollar raised helps bridge the gap between service and civilian success.

In Vegas and beyond, let’s continue to make every day an Easy Day for those who served our country.

>>> Understanding Testosterone

WHAT EVERY MAN SHOULD KNOW

Testosterone is often hailed as the ultimate male hormone—and for good reason. It plays a major role in everything from muscle growth and libido to mood and energy levels. But what happens when testosterone starts to decline? And more importantly, what can you do about it?

Let’s break it all down: the causes of testosterone depletion, signs to look out for, and natural ways to boost your levels—starting with your plate and your supplement shelf.

What Causes Low Testosterone?

Testosterone naturally begins to decline around age 30, dropping about 1% per year. But beyond age, there are several lifestyle, medical, and environmental factors that can send T-levels plummeting, including:

Chronic Stress: Stress raises cortisol, which directly interferes with testosterone production.

Lack of Sleep: Poor sleep (especially less than 6 hours) has been shown to significantly lower testosterone levels.

Obesity: Fat cells convert testosterone into estrogen, so excess body fat—especially belly fat—can lead to lower testosterone levels.

Poor Diet: Low protein, high sugar, and processed foods are all culprits that hurt hormone health.

Excessive Alcohol: Heavy drinking can damage the testicles, where testosterone is made.

Environmental Toxins: Plastics (BPA), pesticides, and heavy metals can act as endocrine disruptors, messing with your body’s hormone balance.

Symptoms of Low Testosterone

Wondering if your T levels might be low? The most common symptoms include: Low sex drive, erectile dysfunction, fatigue or low energy, mood swings or depression, decreased muscle mass and strength, increased body fat, reduced beard or body hair growth, brain fog or trouble concentrating, and low motivation. If you're experiencing several of these, it’s worth talking to a healthcare provider and getting a blood test to check your levels.

Foods and Supplements That Naturally Boost Testosterone

Let’s talk about solutions. While prescription therapies like TRT (testosterone replacement therapy) exist, many men can boost their testosterone naturally with diet and lifestyle changes. Here are seven foods and supplements that support healthy T levels:

1. Eggs

Eggs are rich in vitamin D, cholesterol, and protein—all essential for testosterone production. Don’t skip the yolks; that’s where most of the hormone-supporting nutrients live.

Science says: Vitamin D deficiency is associated with low testosterone levels.

2. Oysters

Oysters are famous for being an aphrodisiac—and it’s not a myth. They’re loaded with zinc, a mineral critical for testosterone production and sperm health.

Science says: Zinc supplementation in zinc-deficient men increases testosterone

significantly.

3. Pomegranate

Pomegranate juice has been shown to boost testosterone levels and improve mood. It’s also packed with antioxidants that reduce oxidative stress—a known testosterone killer.

Science says: Pomegranate consumption has been shown to increase salivary testosterone levels by up to 24%.

4. Ashwagandha

This ancient adaptogenic herb reduces stress, lowers cortisol, and enhances testosterone levels.

Science says: In a study published in the American Journal of Men’s Health, men taking ashwagandha saw a 14.7% increase in testosterone compared to placebo.

5. Brazil Nuts

High in selenium, Brazil nuts support healthy testosterone and sperm production. Just one or two nuts a day can meet your daily selenium needs.

Science says: Selenium deficiency has been linked to poor testicular function and lower T levels.

6. Ginger Root

Ginger not only helps with digestion, but it also boosts testosterone and supports fertility.

Science says: A study found that ginger supplementation increased testosterone by 17.7% in infertile men after 3 months.

7. Fenugreek

This herb contains compounds that inhibit enzymes responsible for breaking down testosterone.

Science says: A study published in Phytotherapy Research found that men supplementing with fenugreek saw improvements in strength, libido, and total testosterone.

Final Thoughts: Boosting Testosterone Naturally

While aging is inevitable, low testosterone doesn’t have to be. The good news is that many of the most common causes of testosterone depletion are within your control—diet, sleep, stress, and lifestyle. Start by eating a hormone-supporting diet, prioritizing quality sleep, and exercising regularly (especially strength training.) Reducing stress and limiting alcohol can also boost testosterone. Consider key supplements like ashwagandha, fenugreek, or zinc (after consulting a doctor.)

Testosterone is more than just a number—it’s a cornerstone of your energy, strength, drive, and vitality. And with the right approach, you can support your levels naturally and feel like yourself again.

BROOKLYN BOWL LAS VEGAS

Unlocking Peak Performance, Athleticism, and Longevity MEN SHOULD EMBRACE OSTEOSTRONG

In Las Vegas, where wellness trends and high-energy lifestyles collide, men are constantly seeking ways to optimize their health and performance. OsteoStrong, a revolutionary skeletal strength conditioning system, is emerging as a game-changer for men of all ages. Far more than just a bone health solution, OsteoStrong offers a scientifically backed approach to enhancing muscular strength, athletic performance, and longevity. By incorporating weekly 10-15 minute sessions, men can unlock a host of benefits that not only elevate their physical capabilities but also safeguard their future health. Here’s why men should make OsteoStrong a cornerstone of their wellness routine—and why starting younger can amplify these advantages.

The Power of OsteoStrong for Men

OsteoStrong utilizes osteogenic loading, a process that applies highintensity, low-impact forces to stimulate bone growth and strengthen the musculoskeletal system. Using specialized patented devices, sessions target the entire skeletal framework, engaging bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments in a way that traditional workouts can’t match. For men, this translates into four compelling reasons to join the OsteoStrong movement:

Builds Stronger Bones to Prevent Age-Related Decline

One in five men over 60 will face osteoporosis or low bone density, increasing the risk of fractures and mobility issues. OsteoStrong’s technology triggers bone density growth, with studies showing up to a 7.5% increase in bone mineral density in just six months without medication. Strong bones form the foundation for an active lifestyle, reducing the risk of injuries that can derail fitness goals or independence later in life.

Enhances Muscular Strength and Overcomes Plateaus

OsteoStrong bypasses neural inhibition, a natural mechanism that limits muscle engagement to protect bones and joints during high-impact activities. By strengthening the skeletal system, it allows muscles to work at higher capacities, leading to greater strength gains without the soreness of traditional workouts. Men often feel stronger within just four sessions, making it an efficient biohack for busy professionals or athletes.

Reduces Joint and Back Pain for Active Living

Chronic joint and back pain can sideline even the most determined men. OsteoStrong strengthens the tissues surrounding joints, with many users reporting pain relief in as little as one to twelve sessions. This is particularly valuable for men in physically demanding jobs or those who want to maintain an active lifestyle, from hiking Red Rock Canyon to hitting the gym.

Boosts Athletic Performance and Injury Prevention

For athletes or fitness enthusiasts, OsteoStrong is a secret weapon. By fortifying bones, ligaments, and tendons, it enhances agility, power, and resilience, helping men push past performance plateaus. The program’s high-compressive loads reduce injury risk, allowing for harder training with confidence. As OsteoStrong’s founder Kyle Zagrodzky claims, future athletes will either use OsteoStrong or fall behind.

Why Starting Younger is a Game-Changer

While OsteoStrong benefits men of all ages, starting in your 20s or 30s can supercharge athleticism and lay the groundwork for a longer, healthier life. Here’s why younger men should jump on board:

Maximizing Peak Bone Mass

Men reach peak bone mass by their early 20s, and it begins to decline by the early 40s. Engaging in OsteoStrong during these critical years can optimize bone density, creating a robust skeletal foundation that protects against future loss. Stronger bones now mean fewer limitations later, whether you’re chasing personal records or simply enjoying an active retirement.

Amplifying Athletic Potential

Younger athletes can use OsteoStrong to break through performance barriers. The program’s ability to eliminate neural inhibition allows for greater muscle recruitment, translating to explosive power and speed. Whether you’re a weekend warrior or a competitive athlete, weekly sessions can enhance agility and reduce injury risk, keeping you in the game longer.

Investing in Longevity

Starting OsteoStrong early is a proactive step toward longevity. Strong bones and muscles reduce the risk of falls and fractures, which can have severe health and financial consequences as men age. Additionally, OsteoStrong supports metabolic health, with some users seeing improved HbA1c levels, a marker for type 2 diabetes management. By prioritizing skeletal health now, younger men can maintain mobility, independence, and vitality well into their later years.

A Vegas Wellness Essential

In a city known for its bold, forward-thinking culture, OsteoStrong fits right into the Las Vegas wellness scene. Its time-efficient sessions (requiring just 10-15 minutes weekly) make it ideal for busy professionals, entertainers, or anyone balancing a demanding schedule. The noninvasive, drug-free approach appeals to men seeking natural solutions to enhance their health. Plus, many OsteoStrong centers, like those in nearby Los Angeles or Lake Forest, offer complementary modalities such as red light therapy and Biocharger, which boost recovery, reduce inflammation, and promote better sleep.

For men in their 20s and 30s, OsteoStrong is more than a workout—it’s a strategic investment in peak performance and long-term health. For older men, it’s a powerful tool to reclaim strength, alleviate pain, and defy aging. Regardless of age, OsteoStrong empowers men to live stronger, move better, and thrive in their high-energy lifestyles.

Ready to unlock your full potential? Visit your local OsteoStrong center for a complimentary consultation and experience the ultimate biohack for yourself. Your bones, muscles, and future self will thank you.

How Clean Water Fits into a Holistic and Healthy Lifestyle

Every day, we make countless choices to support our health, like grabbing a salad instead of fries, taking the stairs, or carving out time to de-stress. But one decision we rarely think about is the water we drink. Clean, pure water is the foundation of good health, yet its importance is often overlooked until problems arise.

The Importance of Water in Holistic Wellness

Water does a lot more than just quench your thirst. It helps carry nutrients through your body, regulates your temperature, and flushes out toxins. Simply put, water keeps everything running smoothly. But it’s not just about drinking enough, it’s also about making sure the water you’re drinking is clean and free from harmful contaminants. Prioritizing clean water is a simple but powerful way to support your physical and mental health.

The Role of Water Purity

Not all water is created equal. Tap water can contain things like chlorine, heavy metals, pesticides, and even microorganisms. Over time, these impurities may disrupt the body’s natural balance and potentially lead to health problems or severely impact those who are already immunocompromised. Emerging contaminants like microplastics and PFAS - often called “forever chemicals” - are also a growing concern, as they can accumulate in the body and have been linked to hormonal disruptions, immune system issues, and other long-term health effects.

Bottled water may seem like a safer alternative, but there is no regulated standard that guarantees the quality of the water which can leave consumers in the dark about what they are really drinking. Plastic bottles are also incredibly wasteful as they are intended for single use and the majority end up in landfills. Additionally, bottled water is relatively expensive as the consumer is not only paying for the water itself, but also for the plastic, transportation, and storage costs.

Choosing to drink purified water is a conscious decision to protect and nourish your body. Consider exploring different ways to ensure your water is as clean and safe as possible, whether through home filtration systems or other reliable solutions. Small changes can have a big impact on your overall well-being.

Mindful Living through Clean Water

Once we recognize the importance of water purity, we can transform this awareness into mindful practices that enhance our overall wellness.

Purity Matters: Making sure your water is clean is a simple way to care for yourself. It means you are giving your body the best possible fuel to function properly.

Taste and Aroma: Clean water just tastes better. Without the harsh chemical smell or aftertaste, you are more likely to enjoy and appreciate every sip.

Environmental Consciousness: Using a home filtration system or other sustainable methods reduces the need for single-use plastics. Refilling a reusable bottle with purified water is a small but meaningful step toward protecting the environment.

Wellness Rituals: Drinking clean water can become a mindful, grounding practice. Take a moment to appreciate the clarity and freshness of your water, it’s a small act of self-care that fits seamlessly into your daily routine.

Holistic Health Support: Whether you practice yoga, meditation, or any other wellness activities, staying properly hydrated with clean water supports your overall health. It’s a basic but essential foundation for feeling your best.

By integrating these principles into your daily life, water becomes more than just hydration, it becomes a cornerstone of your holistic wellness practice.

Mindful living is not just about what you eat or how often you exercise, it’s also about paying attention to the basics, like the water you drink. By choosing clean water, you are not only supporting your own health but also making a positive choice for the environment. The next time you pour yourself a glass, take a moment to appreciate its clarity and the care you are showing for your body and mind. It’s a simple step, but one that plays a big role in holistic and healthy living.

>>> Biohacking with JohnXD

Welcome to the June edition of Biohacking with JohnXD, where I dive into the latest tools and techniques to optimize health, performance, and longevity. This month, I returned to the incredible Desert Moon Wellness in Las Vegas to explore a modality I’ve been curious about for years: BrainTap. As someone who values the mind-body connection, I was eager to see how this brainwave entrainment technology could enhance my mental clarity, reduce stress, and improve sleep in our high-pressure world. Spoiler alert: BrainTap did not disappoint, and with the added power of bio stacking and NeuralCheck, this experience was a game-changer.

First, a huge shoutout to Janelle and Cory at Desert Moon Wellness for their unmatched hospitality and deep knowledge. Their passion for helping the community aligns perfectly with my mission to share cutting-edge biohacks with Vegas locals and beyond. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend visiting Desert Moon to discover their array of wellness modalities—it’s a hub for transformative health experiences.

What is BrainTap?

For those new to BrainTap, here’s a quick rundown. Founded by Dr. Patrick Porter in 2014, BrainTap builds on decades of research into brainwave entrainment, using light, sound, and vibration to optimize mental performance. Its origins trace back to 1989 with the MC2, the world’s first personal light-and-sound device, which won “Best New Gadget of the Year” at the Consumer Electronics Show. Today’s BrainTap system pairs a mobile app with a specialized headset, delivering binaural beats, isochronic tones, and light therapy to guide users into states of deep relaxation, focus, or better sleep. With over 2,000 audio sessions, it’s a trusted tool among thousands of health providers worldwide.

What sets BrainTap apart for me is its ability to provide measurable results through NeuralCheck, a feature that uses advanced algorithms to assess brainwave activity and deliver personalized neurofeedback. Before and after my session, we ran NeuralCheck to quantify the impact—because as a biohacker, I’m all about evidence. You can check out the full breakdown in the video on our YouTube channel.

Biostacking for Maximum Impact

To make the most of my session, I embraced biostacking—combining multiple biohacks for synergistic results. Efficiency is key in biohacking; we want longevity without sacrificing time to live life. In 2023, Janelle at Desert Moon Wellness pioneered this mind-body optimization stack, pairing BrainTap’s brainwave entrainment with the grounding, cellular benefits of an Align PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) mat. She began offering this powerful combination to every new client, and the results were so transformative that it caught the attention of Mike and Alyssa from Align PEMF. Their collaboration with Dr. Porter has since taken this stack’s success to limitless heights, revolutionizing wellness protocols. During my session, I lay on the Align mat—a tool I regularly use at home to reduce inflammation and boost recovery—while using BrainTap, amplifying the session’s effects through this expertly crafted stack.

The BrainTap Experience

The BrainTap session was as simple as it was powerful. I slipped on the headset, lowered the eye visor, and settled onto the warm Align mat. Soothing music filled my ears, synchronized with gentle light pulses flashing through the visor. The 20-minute session, guided by Dr. Porter

himself, explained how the sounds and lights work together to enhance brain function and relaxation. Time flew by, and I emerged feeling calm, refreshed, and energized. Honestly, I didn’t want it to end—it was like a mini-vacation for my mind.

Then came the NeuralCheck results, and they blew me away. Every marker of brain function improved significantly, some by a wide margin, in just 30 minutes (including pre- and post-session checks). The data confirmed what I felt: BrainTap was actively rewiring my brain for better performance. Check out the YouTube video for the full analysis—it’s the kind of quantifiable proof that gets a biohacker excited.

Why BrainTap is a Must for Men

BrainTap is a no-brainer (pun intended) for men looking to optimize their health. In a high-stress world, it offers a drug-free way to reduce anxiety, improve focus, and achieve deeper sleep—key pillars of longevity. For younger men, regular BrainTap use can enhance cognitive performance and resilience, giving you an edge in work or athletics. For those over 40, it’s a powerful tool to maintain mental sharpness and combat age-related decline. Plus, with sessions as short as 20 minutes, it fits seamlessly into even the busiest schedules.

Final Thoughts

My BrainTap experience at Desert Moon Wellness was nothing short of phenomenal. By the time this article hits Vegas Wellness Magazine, I’ll have my own BrainTap device for daily use. The brain is our most vital organ, yet how often do we actively train it? BrainTap makes it easy, effective, and backed by science. I’m already excited to explore its 2,000+ programs and integrate it into my biohacking regimen.

Thank you, Janelle and Cory, for facilitating this transformative experience. To my fellow Vegas wellness enthusiasts, I urge you to visit Desert Moon Wellness and try BrainTap for yourself. Let’s train our brains, reduce stress, and live longer, healthier lives together.

>>> CREATING A MOMENTUM MINDSET The Expectation Equation

Setting meaningful goals can feel like navigating a labyrinth, but with the right framework, the path becomes clearer. Enter the "Expectation Equation," a practical lens through which you can align your aspirations with the realities of life. At its core, this framework acknowledges the trade-offs between three key factors: difficulty, time, and expense. Every goal requires a balance of these elements, and the approach you choose should reflect the trade-off that best suits your unique situation. By focusing on the factor you’re most comfortable managing- whether it’s dedicating more effort, stretching the timeline, or increasing financial investment- you can create a plan that feels achievable and realistic. This isn’t just about dreaming big; it’s about designing a strategy that aligns with your life, your resources, and your readiness to act.

There are three things that have come to drive the decision-making process. Because of this much of the language of advertising focuses on highlighting these three things.

Fast - Easy - Free

Even though many of the things we hold to be most valuable are associated with the opposite of Fast, Easy, and Free, the temptation to seek them out in our Daily Decisions is often overwhelming. Perhaps this is connected to some deep psychological need for speed, to avoid pain and to conserve resources? Or perhaps our society has made us lazy. In either case, we are surrounded with signs that point the way to something happening faster, being easier or costing less. It is so common that we have come to expect it.

The Expectation Equation Graph is a simple way to adjust your expectation in one that is based on real world performance, not the persuasion of advertising.

This is a tool to help you set the right expectations when making decisions that matter.

To work the Expectation Equation, you first select what you want on the outside of the triangle. Then you should expect it to require the two things on the inside of the triangle on the opposite side.

If you want something to be Easy, you should expect it to take a long time

(slow) and have a high cost (expensive.) If you want something to happen Fast, then expect it to both hard and expensive. If you want something to be free , then expect it to take a long time and be difficult. For the purpose of this graph, hard can be defined as difficult in skill or in understanding. And, expensive can be defined as money or effort.

Having the right expectation can often be the thing that makes the difference when you face the real-world response to your actions. People with the wrong expectations often quit.

Imagine someone who starts with the expectation that running long distances will become easy after a few weeks of training. They begin their journey with enthusiasm but quickly face the harsh reality: training is grueling, progress is slow, and the discomfort never truly goes away—it just becomes manageable. If they hold onto their initial, unrealistic expectation, the moment they hit the wall—the physical and mental exhaustion experienced in long-distance running—they might quit, convinced that they've failed or that they're simply not cut out for it. In contrast, someone who enters training with the expectation that it's supposed to be hard, that struggles and setbacks are part of the process, is far more likely to persevere. They are mentally prepared for the discomfort and see it as a natural step toward their goal rather than a sign that they should stop.

Having the right expectation can often be the defining factor in how you respond to the real-world outcomes of your actions. It can mean the difference between persevering through challenges or giving up when the path becomes tough. People with the wrong expectations often quit, not because they lack the ability, but because they weren’t mentally prepared for the realities of the journey.

Think about it: Where did the expectations you have for your active projects come from? Are they rooted in experience and research, or are they influenced by assumptions or external pressures? What might you be holding back on because of false or overly optimistic expectations? And finally, are you truly clear on what to expect—both the victories and the setbacks—while working on your plans?

What the Enneagram Reveals About Your Wellness Blocks and How to Break Free From Them

“I just need more discipline.”

“I should be better at this by now.”

“Why can’t I stick to anything?”

If you’ve ever started a new wellness routine only to abandon it three weeks later, you’re not alone—and you’re definitely not lazy. You’re just human. And maybe, just maybe… you’re motivated differently than the people you’re comparing yourself to.

We live in a world where the loudest wellness advice often sounds like a one-size-fits-all plan: wake up at 5 AM, drink green juice, go to the gym, and meditate daily or else. But let’s be realistic: what works beautifully for some people can completely backfire for others.

So, what if the issue isn’t your willpower, but that the plan wasn’t designed with you in mind?

Enter: the Enneagram.

Unlike other personality tools that focus on behavior, the Enneagram maps your core motivation. It doesn’t tell you what you do—it reveals why you do it. Each Enneagram type can reveal how we personally approach wellness and what might be silently sabotaging our best intentions.

I recently sat down with my friend Chelsea Laub of Evoke Eq, who taught me how understanding your core motivation can reveal hidden blocks in your wellness journey. She had so much wisdom around each type’s deeper emotional drivers, which had me reflecting as a wellness coach on how to apply those insights in everyday life. Chelsea emphasized to me that the Enneagram gets to the heart of why you do things. That means it can uncover why certain wellness routines work for other people but feel like a punishment to you. It can also reveal the exact emotional or mental pattern that keeps tripping you up—whether it’s the fear of failure, the pressure to succeed, or the desire to escape altogether.

Let’s dig into the types.

Enneagram 1 – The Reformer

According to Chelsea, this type wants to do things the “right” way, and can be rigid to a fault. Wellness becomes one more thing to perfect, and if they think they’ll fall short, they might not even start. This can result in burnout or avoidance. When they shift from judgment to joy, wellness becomes something they get to do, not something they should do.

Enneagram 2 – The Helper

Chelsea shared that this type is driven by a need to feel needed and appreciated. They often prioritize others’ well-being over their own and can feel guilty when focusing on themselves. This can lead to

chronic overgiving, burnout, and resentment. When they learn that their presence is most powerful when they are putting themselves first, self-care becomes an act of connection, not selfishness.

Enneagram 3 – The Achiever

This type is motivated by a desire to succeed and be seen as valuable. Chelsea explained that they often treat wellness as another achievement to check off, focusing on results and image over authenticity or emotional support. She also mentioned these are our 6-pack ab types! When they shift from performance to presence, wellness becomes a way to reconnect with who they are, not just what they do.

Enneagram 4 – The Individualist

Chelsea noted that Type 4s seek meaning and emotional depth, often using wellness as a space to feel their feelings fully. But they can get stuck in emotional intensity, using reflection to reinforce their sense of identity and even becoming a source of comparison. When they ground in balance and allow emotion to pass through rather than define them, wellness becomes a portal to their wholeness to themselves and others.

Enneagram 5 – The Investigator

This type values autonomy. Chelsea shared that they tend to overthink wellness and may delay action in favor of more research, including delays to the doctor's office! Their mental loop often keeps them stuck in planning mode without embodied follow-through. When they let down their guard and release the attachments they have about their research, they may invite the support they actually need for their optimal wellness.

Enneagram 6 – The Loyalist

Chelsea explained that Type 6s are driven by a need for safety and certainty. Their desire to be prepared can lead to overanalyzing routines, second-guessing decisions, or scanning for problems that might not be there. These are our wellness players who never miss an appointment and are always on schedule with all of their checkups! When they learn to trust their own intuition and find comfort in consistency, wellness becomes a grounding force, rather than health being a source of anxiety.

Enneagram 7 – The Enthusiast

This type seeks freedom, fun, and stimulation. Chelsea shared that they often resist routines that feel restrictive and avoid discomfort through distraction or overindulgence. This all-or-nothing pattern can keep them from fully engaging with their wellness. When they embrace presence over escapism, wellness becomes a joyful anchor, not a buzzkill.

Enneagram 8 – The Challenger

Chelsea noted that Type 8s are motivated by intensity and being

“big”. They approach life with force and may see rest or vulnerability as weakness. This type is associated with lust; it’s not what they are consuming but how much they can. When they soften their guard and embrace vulnerability, wellness becomes a reclamation, not a risk.

Enneagram 9 – The Peacemaker

This type longs for internal and external harmony. Chelsea shared that they often struggle with inertia, avoiding decisions that could create conflict or tension, even with themselves. She noted that this type can be associated with autoimmune diseases because, unlike the 7s that, in their indulgence, can eliminate what they take in, the 9s trap not only what they consume, but their emotions as well. When they practice conscious engagement, wellness becomes a way to affirm their presence and power in the world.

If you recognize yourself in any of these patterns, take heart. The goal here isn’t to label yourself—it’s to understand yourself. When you know your core motivation, you can stop pushing against your natural wiring and start working with it. That’s where real change begins.

When I asked Chelsea what someone reading this could do next, she encouraged those curious about Enneagram to invest in a high-quality assessment (not the free ones, which are often inaccurate) and, when possible, to work with a coach who specializes in Enneagram development. A good practitioner can help you see your blind spots, especially in the areas of your life where you’re not getting the results you want.

As someone who believes that our minds and words shape our realities, I also thought that an Enneagram type affirmation could inspire someone to step into the magic of their Enneagram motivation:

Enneagram 1: You don’t have to earn your wellness—joy counts as progress.

Enneagram 2 : Your wellness is strongest when it includes you, too.

Enneagram 3 : You don’t have to outwork your worth—wellness begins when you let yourself just be.

Enneagram 4: You don’t have to feel different to begin—wellness is here, and you’re ready now.

Enneagram 5 : Wellness isn’t a depletion—it’s a resource you can trust and return to.

Enneagram 6 : Trusting yourself is part of your wellness practice. You’re more ready than you think.

Enneagram 7 : You don’t have to chase the next thing—wellness and

freedom deepens when you root in something that lasts.

Enneagram 8 : Wellness isn’t weakness—it’s the fuel for your fire.

Enneagram 9 : Doing nothing isn’t peace or wellness—doing something can restore it.

If you are thinking, what specific wellness routine should I be taking action on based on my type, it is most important to remember that awareness is not inaction. Even though it may not feel like a big step, understanding why you do what you do is the most powerful catalyst for transformation. Insight leads to intention, and intention leads to aligned action.

If this article sparked curiosity about your own type or helped you feel seen in a new way, consider taking the next step. Chelsea Laub of Evoke EQ offers high-quality Enneagram assessments and one-on-one coaching to help you uncover what’s motivating your patterns.

>>> The Ultimate Quantum Leap RASHA® in Eternal Human Potential

In the magnetic heart of Las Vegas- not in the typical bustle of the Strip but within the singular, world-exclusive RASHA® HQ Dome Experience facility- a revolution in human consciousness is underway. Far beyond wellness fads and high-tech biohacks lies a multidimensional phenomenon fusing ancient Source Code knowledge with cutting-edge scalar plasma physics. At the epicenter of this transformation is Dr. Jere Rivera-Dugenio, PhD, the planet’s leading expert in quantum morphogenetic physics and Intron DNA activation.

The RASHA® is not just a technology; it’s a consciousness-based communication system for the future of our species. This system, engineered using Base-12 Eternal Source mathematics and the intrinsic codes of creation, communicates directly with the magnetic vector of DNA’s major groove. Specifically engaging with the so-called “junk DNA,” which is, in fact, Intron Potential DNA. As Dr. RiveraDugenio explains, “RASHA® was designed not to heal, but to activate the body’s original design; its own self-repairing, multidimensional template.”

From Near-Death to Next-Level Invention

Dr. Rivera-Dugenio’s journey is as extraordinary as the technology itself. A profound transferof-consciousness experience following a neardeath event in 2000 uploaded an immense body of Source-level knowledge into his awareness. From that point, he dedicated his life to decoding what he calls quantum morphogenetic physics- a multidimensional science not of this Earth- and translating it into tangible systems for global impact. The first such system: the

RASHA® scalar plasma system.

This breakthrough technology integrates the pioneering work of Tesla, Rife, Priore, and Konstantin Meyl, yet transcends them with Base-12 scalar waveform resonance, emotional trauma harmonization, and autonomic nervous system recalibration. Unlike any other bioresonance or frequency technology, RASHA® is fully Source-aligned, built on Base-12 Eternal architecture and powered by scalar-plasma sound harmonics transmitted via a proprietary plasma gas blend.

Elite Optimization Meets Childlike Innocence

The world’s most demanding performers have taken note. RASHA® is now used by world champion athletes, high-performing entrepreneurs, and elite creatives to optimize recovery, cognitive function, and flow state access. Its neuro-enhanced protocols offer rapid recalibration of brain hemispheres, emotional resilience, and energetic coherence.

Yet the most heart-expanding application of RASHA® may be in its work with autistic children. By harmonizing the child’s morphogenetic field and down-regulating neurological overstimulation, the system fosters calming, self-awareness, and non-verbal shifts that parents describe as “miraculous.”

The Only RASHA® Dome Experience on Earth

This quantum leap is not available at random wellness centers. The only official RASHA® Dome Experience on the planet is housed within RASHA® HQ in Las Vegas, Nevada. The facility’s hyperdimensional architecture is specifically aligned to amplify the scalar field experience, creating an immersive, resonant environment where participants don’t just relax, they recalibrate at the quantum level.

into a zero-gravity sound environment where Base-12 ScalarSonic frequencies are delivered via three synchronized pathways: plasma field transmission, neural entrainment through Base-12 sound harmonics, and scalar wave communication through the morphogenetic field.

What They’re Saying

From executives to wellness pioneers, testimonials are pouring in. One high-level entrepreneur noted, “RASHA® isn’t about treating symptoms - it’s about awakening the blueprint within me that never needed healing in the first place.” Parents of autistic children report noticeable improvements in regulation, communication, and energetic presence after just a few sessions. And professional athletes have integrated RASHA® into pre-competition and post-recovery protocols to accelerate mental focus and muscular regeneration.

The Future is Scalar - And It’s Now Skeptics may still be catching up to terms like “scalar plasma,” “Intron DNA,” or “morphogenetic fields”, but the science is irrefutable. Dr. Rivera-Dugenio has lectured globally, studied online in Stanford’s Genomics Program, where he has sparked dialogue around non-human DNA signatures and ancient mitochondrial anomalies that modern genetics is only beginning to acknowledge.

Upon entering the Dome, visitors are welcomed

RASHA® is not a product of tomorrow. It is a gift from beyond time, reverse-engineered through direct cognition and Source interface. And as consciousness expands across the globe, the RASHA® Dome in Las Vegas stands as a beacon of what is possible when science, consciousness, and Source unify.

Insight from a Sleep Dentist SLEEPING AND YOUR JAW

What we do with our teeth at night we couldn’t do during the day. Many of us know that we clench or grind our teeth at night or, we can even hear our partner doing it, but is it a sign of something bigger? What can it cause or be caused by?

The act of clenching our teeth when we’re sleeping, also called bruxism, is what’s called centrally mediated, meaning our brains do this automatically, much in the way we have restless leg syndrome. We have no control of initiating it and external factors rarely can stop it, like in the way iron supplements can stop restless leg syndrome. Because it’s centrally mediated, it’s extremely hard to see what is triggering it, but multiple studies in the last 15 years have brought to light a possible cause of at least 50% of the clenching events: how we breathe in our sleep. In overnight sleep studies, researchers have found that when we are sound asleep if our airflow decreases, even in the absence of any lack of oxygen, that we reflexively clench our teeth until the airways have restored their normal airflow, then we stop clenching. Naturally when we clench our teeth we are flexing and increasing the tone of our muscles of our upper airway including the tongue (this is why we get those indents on the sides of our tongues, from bracing it against our teeth) which is how we restore our breathing flow rate. This tightening (reducing the collapsibility of the upper airway muscles) is what helps to restore the airflow. We see this in real time when the flow has been restored and the clenching ends. This surprised many but it dovetails with other, much more numerous research showing that patients with sleep apnea are bruxing more than those that don’t and that sleeping on our backs, increases sleep apnea as

well as increases bruxism.

So now we’re clenching, what other things can this lead to? Because clenching is so violent and so intense, and not only does it engage those upper airway muscles but also the neck and shoulder muscles, this can cause classic tension headaches as the greater occipital nerves get pinched between the second vertebrae and base of the skull. Many have observed that seeing a chiropractor for an adjustment immediately resolves this kind of headache, but generally returns because of the clenching.

This is how a sleep dentist, particularly one that understands how our jaws and TMJ function, can assist in reducing clenching and headaches. Unfortunately this knowledge isn’t common among medical professionals, including dentists, as there’s very little training on the subject in dental school. There’s zero training in medical school. But fortunately more and more dentists are learning this skill and are able to effect change in a very safe manner, which then makes sleeping with your jaw that much easier.

THE TEMPLE RADIANCE LIFESTYLE with Gia

Let’s take a moment to recap our journey into consciousness. We have previously determined that everything is consciousness, even a strand of carpet. We have also spoken about emotions driving what is shaped through our consciousness and that everything we do (whether spoken or in the physical) is either driven by love or fear. In the age of “healing” we talk about our pattern loops, we reminisce obsessively over our inner child not getting enough love and all the things our parents were not, or, did not do. Healing is cancelled. Remembering is in. Remembering is like toggling the Alt+Ctrl+Del buttons and erasing and starting over. This is similar to that thought process.

In higher consciousness, we can ditch the loops and move beyond the old paradigms and stories, coalescing in a place where all things return to love. What this means is we wipe the slate clean and begin to remember the perfection of who we are. It's an energetic reset to move past the drama and into the gifting. When you choose to evolve your consciousness and acknowledge that you are the only one here, you come to realize that the entire YOUniverse is inside you.

What does that actually mean?

It means that you are the primordial spiral. You are the ancient technology built into the spiral that permeates all consciousness. The Spiral is the silent hum you hear inside or the toggle of ear ringing oftentimes seemingly out of nowhere. The spiral is the key to all living life and what our invitation today is to simply decide that you were never broken, and never actually needed to be fixed. When you acknowledge not just connection but your very existence is consciousness, it may offer some peace knowing that you have far more control over your life experience than you might realize. Pushing the boulder up hill was what made us all “successful” in the old paradigm. In higher consciousness, everything is held in vibration unlocked by your own pure heart. You can’t outrun love- at some point all things must return to their original state. Source is having an experience through you and once you realize that you are the spark, the flame and the spiral and that the entire universe is you, you begin to move slower and with more intention through life.

Let us keep opening the scroll of remembering as we journey into the infinite layers of consciousness.

INFINITE ORGANICS

An Interview with Eric Kleffner

Jennifer Walker: Please give us a little bit of personal background…

Eric Kleffner: I’m currently living in an area called Erie, Colorado which is actually where I grew up. I’ve lived all over the Denver area over the years.

JW: Obviously, being in Colorado (a pioneer state in the hemp/cannabis industries) you have been exposed to plant medicine for a while now. How did you get introduced to plant medicine?

EK: As a teenager, I had an infatuation with the recreational culture and benefits of CBD and hemp. But it really wasn’t until later on when I was diagnosed with psoriasis that I became more interested in the benefits of hemp. At first, I was looking to make hemp-based food items like pizza and ice cream, in an attempt to cure my psoriasis. My recipe experiments didn’t turn out that good, so I pivoted to the CBD industry after I spoke with some peers in Colorado who were already in the industry. They told me about all of the possibilities within the industry. At the time, I didn’t know much about it. I knew about THC, but CBD was all new to me.

JW: I think it’s cool that you were looking to cook with hemp and incorporate it for medicinal reasons. We are all about alternative and organic health at Vegas Wellness Magazine…

EK: Yea, I was trying gluten-free at first, the Vegan lifestyle next, all in the name of curing my psoriasis. I was open to anything at that time. I later found another cure for my psoriasis, and learned that vitamin D deficiency is huge for people with inflammatory diseases, which is what led me to my cure. But CBD helped with recovery and pain for me, for sure!

JW: Aside from dabbling with hemp/CBD in order to troubleshoot your health issues, what was your initial involvement with that industry? Do you grow hemp?

EK: I used to grow hemp. I grew mainly within my first four years in the industry. I have amassed a large amount of CBD oil that I had extracted, and it doesn’t really degrade at all, so I can still use it. We farmed in Colorado at first, and then moved our grow to New Mexico where the climate was much more favorable.

JW: How did you shift into running Infinite Organics?

EK: In the beginning, my partners were mainly interested in selling biomass- that was a huge deal back in 2017/2018. When that market fell through with Covid, I told my investors that was when we needed to pivot to making quality products. I started making products like creams and bath bombs at first. Tinctures came next. Now, I am open to making anything!

JW: Currently, what are your most popular products?

EK: I would definitely say that the CBD creams and tinctures are my most consistently popular products. They tend to cover the majority of the pain that people are dealing with. Pain cream will solve most people’s issues.

JW: I think that CBD pain creams are great! Especially for people who are just starting out using CBD and hemp products…

The Kleffner Family

EK: Yes, creams are generally the most universally accepted products. You can give a CBD pain cream to your mom and not have to worry about explaining what’s in it, or if there’s a lot of THC or something that she wouldn’t like. A quality, organic CBD pain cream can do wonders.

JW: You have definitely been through many changes within the hemp/ CBD industry over the years. Even though you have been at this for a long time, I’m sure you still get inspired to put out new products. Is there anything new and exciting on the horizon for Infinite Organics?

EK: We have some new pet CBD products coming out made with organic animal ingredients. I also have a mango pain gummy that is coming out that has both CBG and CBD. It’s a really effective pain management option.

JW: That’s great! Is there anything else that you would like our readers to know about Infinite Organics?

EK: I would also like to mention that I donate 5% of my profits for building hemp homes for the homeless. My goal is to scale that up and get it to $1 million per year- that’s the ultimate goal! I really want to make a larger impact. Currently, my donations are a small percentage of that, but every little bit helps the cause. The nonprofit I work with is based out of New Mexico (where I have grown hemp)... it’s called St. Francis Challenge. I’d love your readers to support their cause. They were already building hemp homes when I found out about them, and I was so inspired by that, I decided to partner with them. The fact that they are a small nonprofit was the appeal for me; I know where the donations are going. It’s something close to my heart and that I’m really passionate about.

A Man’s Meal: Grilled Tri-Tip with Southwest Style Chimichurri

There is a saying: “The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” Nothing could ever be more true. This Father’s Day, feed the man in your life something he will enjoy. This month’s recipe is a weekend favorite in my household: Grilled Tri-Tip with Southwest Style Chimichurri

Recently chimichurri has been gaining more popularity in mainstream restaurants. However, my recipe comes with a little twist. A classic chimichurri is made with parsley. Growing up on the west coast and living in the Southwest has always allowed me to get fresh cilantro. It was a natural choice for me to replace parsley with cilantro. There are some major considerations for the health benefits of chimichurri. It starts with the ingredients: olive oil, cilantro, garlic, red wine vinegar, red pepper flakes. Ingredients like cilantro and garlic encourage digestion and bring antioxidants to the body! Olive oil is a good fat that helps with managing cholesterol and blood pressure. Red wine vinegar will also assist with digestion. In the context of this meal the chimichurri has many components that help with digestion. This is very important because beef is harder for the body to process. Specifically lean cuts of beef are more difficult to digest because of the high protein content. Pairing tri-tip with chimichurri will help your gut digest this delicious cut of beef.

There are many other more fatty cuts that you can substitute this recipe for. The other cuts will also do well on a smoker or a grill.

Ingredients

1 tri-tip (roughly 3lbs)

1 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

1/4 cup red wine vinegar

1 cup cilantro

1/2 cup minced garlic

1 Tbsp crushed red peppers

2 Tbsps ground oregano

3 cups kosher salt

4 Tbsps yellow mustard

4 Tbsps Montreal steak seasoning

2 Tbsps thyme

4 Tbsps smoked paprika

Recipe Marinade:

In a stock pot add enough water to fully cover the meat. Add salt, smoked paprika and red wine vinegar.

Mix ingredients with a wooden spoon and add tri-tip to the brine mixture. Allow meat to brine in this liquid for 2-3 hours. Remove tri-tip from brining liquid and allow it to drain but do not worry about patting dry. Use ground mustard as a binder (if you don’t like mustard substitute with extra virgin olive oil). Add 2 Tbsp of yellow mustard to each side of the meat and use your hands to evenly distribute mustard on both sides. Then add a thin layer of Montreal steak seasoning, thyme and paprika to

both sides of the meat.

The method I used for this tri-tip is by smoke. However the same technique can be used on a charcoal grill. You will need to have coals on one side of the grill and place your tri-tip away from the heat. This is called the indirect heat cooking method. To achieve a good smoke profile with charcoal add wood chips.

Chimichurri

1 1/2 cup olive oil

1/4 cup red wine vinegar

1/2 cup minced garlic

1 Tbsp crushed red peppers

1 cup fresh cilantro

Add all your ingredients to the blender and blend for 1 minute or until fully incorporated.

What's the Tea on: Gotu Kola

The statements in this editorial are simply for informational purposes, entertainment, and objective research and do not represent the views or policies of the publication, or any other organization with which the author may be affiliated. It is so interesting to see how many plants receive such noble titles to describe their abilities, however to me it is of no surprise. When working with the tools of nature, we see how transformative and impactful these plants are, and with this herb Gotu Kola it is no different. I actually semirecently included it into a High Tech Healing herbal tea formula called Eye Know, which supports my mental capacity to fathom the greatness of our earth.

Gotu Kola, is a humble creeping herb that possesses a history as rich and intricate as the delicate veins that crisscross its fan-shaped leaves. While it is scientifically known as Centella asiatica, it has been given the name the “miracle herb” within various contexts, reflecting the high esteem in which it is held across different cultures for its diverse therapeutic applications. This term, while perhaps an oversimplification of its complex pharmacology, underscores the remarkable range of benefits traditionally associated with its use, from cognitive enhancement and longevity to wound healing and skin rejuvenation.

Historical Use for Memory and Longevity

The historical roots of Gotu Kola are deeply embedded in the ancient traditions of Asia. In Ayurveda, the traditional Indian system of medicine dating back thousands of years, Gotu Kola, known as Brahmi (although this name is sometimes also used for Bacopa monnieri), holds a significant position as a rasayana herb. Rasayanas are revered for their

rejuvenating and longevity-promoting effects. Ancient texts like the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita extensively document its use for enhancing memory, promoting intellect, and treating skin conditions, nervous disorders, and epilepsy.

However, the enduring legacy of Gotu Kola extends beyond the ancient traditions of India and Sri Lanka, weaving its way into the rich tapestry of Chinese herbal medicine as well. Within this ancient system, Centella asiatica is known as Ji Xue Cao. Historical accounts from China highlight the use of Ji Xue Cao for mental clarity and cognitive function, while Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) texts describe its cooling and moistening nature, attributing to it the ability to clear heat, promote detoxification, and alleviate swelling. It was employed both topically, as a poultice for injuries, and internally, in decoctions to address internal imbalances.

Legend speaks of Li Ching-Yuen, a purported herbalist who allegedly lived an astonishing 256 years (1677-1933). While the veracity of this extreme lifespan is heavily debated, the tale often credits his longevity, in part, to his daily consumption of herbs, with Gotu Kola frequently cited as one of them, alongside other renowned tonics like Ginseng and He Shou Wu. This legendary association, though not scientifically proven, undoubtedly contributed to the herb’s reputation as a life-enhancing elixir in popular culture.

Modern Science Confirms

Modern scientific investigations have indeed shed light on Gotu Kola’s potential benefits for both brain and nerve health and uncovered new potential applications. Numerous studies have investigated its effects on cognitive function (confirming historical knowledge). Studies have indicated that the triterpenoids present in Gotu Kola, particularly asiaticoside and madecassoside, can promote nerve regeneration and protect nerve cells from damage. In the Journal of Ethnopharmacology this extract demonstrated improved memory and cognitive function in elderly individuals, while another study led to scientific support to enhance the working memory and attention in healthy adults as well. Research published in the International Journal of Neuroscience demonstrated that Centella asiatica extract could improve nerve conduction velocity and nerve fiber regeneration in animal models. This suggests a potential role for Gotu Kola in supporting recovery from nerve injuries and in managing neuropathic conditions.

The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of Gotu Kola have also garnered significant attention. Its triterpenoids and other bioactive compounds have been shown to inhibit the production of proinflammatory cytokines and scavenge harmful free radicals, potentially contributing to the prevention and management of various chronic diseases. Research is also exploring its potential in improving vascular health, reducing venous insufficiency, and exhibiting neuroprotective effects in conditions like Alzheimer’s disease.

Beyond Physical

Traditional use of Gotu Kola extended beyond mere physical ailments. It was considered a spiritual herb, believed to enhance meditation and promote mental clarity. Yogis and spiritual practitioners in the Himalayas traditionally consumed Gotu Kola to improve their focus and concentration

during prolonged periods of meditation. Its association with longevity is further underscored by folklore, including tales of elephants, known for their long lifespans and sharp memories, consuming the herb. While simultaneously known as ‘Tiger Grass’ wounded Bengal tigers are seen rolling around in the herb after a fight. With this we see that nature communicates on a more comprehensive level than we might realize.

Wound-Healing and Skin Repair

In Sri Lanka, Gotu Kola has been a staple in traditional medicine for centuries used to heal wounds, improve circulation, and alleviate fever. It is often consumed as a leafy vegetable in daily diets as a salad or curry, or prepared as a medicinal drink, offering nutritional boost. Similarly in Indonesian and other Southeast Asian cultures, the herb has been employed to treat conditions related to skin problems, digestive issues, and fatigue. The entire plant, including the leaves, stems, and roots, are used.

Being now clear that Gotu Kola is wonderful for circulation, the woundhealing properties have also been extensively studied. Asiaticoside, a key triterpenoid, has been shown to stimulate collagen synthesis and angiogenesis (the formation of new blood vessels), crucial processes in wound repair. Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of Gotu Kola extracts in accelerating healing in various types of wounds, including surgical wounds, burns, and chronic ulcers.

As modern science began to explore Gotu Kola, phytochemical analysis has revealed a wealth of bioactive compounds responsible for its diverse pharmacological actions. Key constituents include triterpenoid saponins, such as asiaticoside, madecassoside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid. The compounds are believed to be primarily responsible for the herb’s wound-healing, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and antioxidant properties. Other constituents in Gotu Kola include flavonoids, polyphenols, and essential oils, which may contribute synergistically to its overall health benefits.

Remember to Sip Your Tea

Furthermore, modern research has explored the potential of Gotu Kola in managing anxiety and stress. Studies suggest that it may exert anxiolytic effects by modulating neurotransmitter levels in the brain. This is also associated with slowing down and drinking your tea with intentionality.

The convergence of ancient wisdom and modern scientific inquiry continues to unveil the multifaceted potential of Gotu Kola, exemplifies the enduring value of traditional knowledge in the discovery of potential therapeutic agents, while solidifying its place as a truly remarkable botanical treasure. As research continues to unravel the intricate mechanisms of its bioactive compounds, this seemingly miraculous herb holds promise for addressing a range of health concerns, offering testament to the potent synergy between nature and human well-being.

PLANT MAGIC & MEDICINE

Ashwagandha: The King of Vitality for Men’s Health

If there’s one herb that has stood the test of time in supporting men’s health from the inside out, it’s Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera). Known in Ayurvedic medicine as a powerful adaptogen, Ashwagandha helps the body adapt to stress while restoring energy, stamina, and strength. Its name literally means “smell of the horse”—referring to the vigor and vitality it’s believed to bestow.

Ashwagandha has become a staple in men’s herbal wellness for its unique ability to support hormone balance, reduce cortisol, increase testosterone levels, and promote calm focus and resilience. Whether you're looking to boost energy, improve workouts, or support sexual vitality, this root is a plant-fueled powerhouse.

The Healing Benefits of Ashwagandha

Why It Belongs in Every Man’s Herbal Routine

• Stress Relief – Reduces cortisol levels and supports the nervous system during times of high stress or anxiety.

• Testosterone and Libido – Shown to naturally increase testosterone and improve sexual function and fertility in men.

• Muscle Strength and Endurance – Improves performance, recovery, and stamina, especially when taken regularly.

• Energy and Vitality – Boosts overall energy levels without stimulation, helping fight fatigue and burnout.

• Mental Clarity – Supports focus, memory, and emotional balance.

• Hormone Balance – Regulates the endocrine system, making it beneficial for men as they age.

While ashwagandha is a powerful adaptogen with many benefits, it may not be suitable for everyone. Avoid ashwagandha if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as its effects on hormone levels could pose risks. Individuals with hyperthyroidism, autoimmune conditions, or those taking thyroid medications should consult a healthcare provider before use. Ashwagandha may also interact with sedatives, anxiety medications, or immunosuppressants. Always speak with a qualified practitioner before adding ashwagandha to your routine, especially if you are managing a medical condition or taking prescription drugs.

Tapping into your herbalist spirit is easy with this simple recipe. Get ready to infuse some serious plant wisdom into your daily wellness routine!

When You Choose to Be the Change >>> BREAKING THE CYCLE

One traumatic event can leave ripples that will last for generations. Whether we pass the trauma or inherit it, having the courage to break the cycle is a monumental task. It's as though these echoes of pain create a haunting soundtrack that plays in the background of our lives. But here's the good news: breaking this cycle is one of the most monumental tasks we can undertake. Breaking this cycle is not only brave; it's transformational; it's a testament to our resilience and a declaration that we refuse to be tethered to our past.

When we look at why some people suffer from generational trauma, patterns start to show themselves, and sometimes, we begin to mirror our abuser's toxic behavior. Whether it is abusing drugs, sex, alcohol, food, or engaging in the same abusive behavior as our abusers, we must take action. Yet, this task is extremely difficult to achieve, as sometimes it seems like we are fighting against our nature.

Looking back at my journey, I was certain I made better choices than my parents until I realized the foundation they built was riddled with cracks, and I was falling into the same pitfalls without a second glance. My father, a master of making choices driven by anger, passed on more than just his DNA; he made decisions that left chaos in my soul that harbored anger. My father abandoned me when I needed him the most in my formidable years, yet somehow, with him not being around, I was unaware of how closely I mirrored him. My parents failed to get me help for my mental health for whatever reason they had, and I, too, followed their lead and refused to admit to myself I was struggling with mental health issues.

It wasn't until my late 30s, after a mental health crisis forced me to confront the chaos within. After the crisis, my mother abandoned me, and I became a broken shell of myself, drowning in a sea of depression. I was against seeking help, but reluctantly, I started the process and broke the cycle. I got help; that was the first step toward breaking the cycle. Yet, recognizing the need for change was only the tip of the iceberg.

Breaking the cycle requires daily effort and the determination to rewire our thought processes, transforming how we perceive life's various choices. There will be setbacks, but one must be committed to the process. The second step to breaking the cycle is recognizing and identifying harmful or dysfunctional family traits that have been passed down. This requires looking at hard truths about family dynamics, our parents, our choices, our relationships, our triggers, generational trauma, and why we selfsabotage. This step can take years to uncover because it is a fact-finding mission and a journey of self-discovery that will fundamentally change how we make choices, handle life events, and navigate life.

Here is another hard truth: time is the enemy in this endeavor. At 47, I have the skills, willingness, and knowledge to break the cycle. Unfortunately, I perpetuated the cycle in my 20s and most of my 30s, doing damage to myself and others. Now, I find myself multitasking between healing my inner child and breaking the cycle, and that can be overwhelming.

Breaking the cycle can be incredibly frustrating because it means going against your ingrained reactions. For example, someone who typically responds to conflict with anger must learn to lean into understanding. On the other hand, a person who tends to let others walk all over them will need to find their voice and take a stand. Both can feel like climbing Mount Everest in flip-flops because they are out of our comfort zone, and breaking the cycle means finding yourself living in the uncomfortable zone.

One of the initial steps I took was to apologize and own my actions. Acknowledging my mistakes meant breaking my parents' habit of denial and ego, as they refused to apologize and take ownership for their actions and choices. Saying sorry doesn't fix everything. Sure, it is nice to hear, but it must be followed up with action.

Breaking the cycle requires difficult decisions and embracing the unknown. If you are like me and find yourself walking down the same generational path of trauma and dysfunction for years, and then decide to jump off the path and break the cycle. There will be people in your life who won't believe you, and in their eyes, you will always be walking on that dysfunctional path. Friends and family may find it hard to see that you're no longer a prisoner of the past. Unfortunately, that struggle for recognition from those who can't see you're changing can be disheartening, yet we cannot let someone's opinion of us stop us from breaking the cycle.

Expanding my mindset through Stoic philosophy was a game-changer for me in breaking the cycle. It was encouraging and beneficial to listen to other people's points of view who have been dead for 1,000 years, yet their message is just as relevant today. With themes like letting go, the inner child, and inner demons, to name a few. Philosophy helped me understand myself and the world around me better. These teachings helped me comprehend the timeless nature of the mental health battles we face and the shared struggles of humanity. We as a society are now learning the importance of mental health and being transparent with our mental health issues, the complexity of life, and the people we let into our lives, as everyone is carrying some emotional baggage.

So, to anyone out there embarking on the journey to break their own cycle, I applaud you. It's a noble pursuit filled with peaks and valleys, with the reward of blooming into the best version of yourself. We owe it to ourselves and to those who will come after us to steer clear of the destructive paths laid by our abusers. When breaking the cycle, we must be mindful and choose to be rational rather than reactionary.

Breaking the cycle is not a one-time act; it's a lifelong commitment. It means choosing growth over comfort, logic over chaos, and love over inherited pain. To anyone daring to take that path, know this: you are not weak for struggling; you are strong for trying. Keep showing up. Keep choosing the better path. You are not just healing yourself; you're rewriting the future. Let's all make the hard but right choice to break the cycle. It's not just the brave thing to do. It's the right thing to do.
