children? If so, do you consume in front of them? And, what do they understand cannabis to be?
VCM: You are a 3rd generation Marley, tell us what the Marley name means to you.
STEPHEN: They understand
SHACIA: Marley = Unity
VCM: You now live in Florida, did
VCM: Have you performed with your dad? If so, tell us about that.
cannabis is an herb, like mint, thyme or basil. you play a role in legalization there? And, do you have any industry ventures in the state of Florida?
STEPHEN: I live all over, not just
in one place. I hope we can inspire more people to educate themselves about cannabis and figure out how it can benefit their own lives.
VCM: Do you have any plans
to bring any of your cannabis ventures to Nevada?
SHACIA: Kaya Fest will be the first time my Father and I perform on the same stage, and I'm sure we both can't wait. VCM: How did you get into mixing, and what are your goals as a DJ? SHACIA: DJing has been a passion of mine for a longtime, and as the only DJ in our family, I am excited to share my own emotional connection to the music with thousands of
new friends at Kaya Fest. VCM: You will be at the upcoming Kaya Fest, what can your fans expect? SHACIA: First, we all should thank both of my parents for raising me around a deep love for music. Music and DJing have given me opportunities to reach different people all over the world and to blend any lines or boundaries. It's unity and exploration through music and I think people will really get into it at Kaya Fest. VCM: Give us your thoughts and views on cannabis. What will you tell your children about the herb? SHACIA: Cannabis is an herb that deserves our respect, even if
you decide it's not for you to use. There are many benefits and uses beyond smoking, like Cannabee, a natural healing medication. If and when the time comes to speak to my children about the herb, I would want them to learn about the benefits and not ever feel pressured. VCM: What do you have coming up in the future? SHACIA: In many ways I feel like I'm just getting started and so my focus is on more living of my purpose, whatever that includes. More Justice. More exploration, enlightenment, faith, giving and focus on using my life and music as a vehicle for these things and more.
STEPHEN: Would love to. VCM: What do you think you
father would think of the cannabis movement today?
STEPHEN: He would like it. VCM: What will we see in the
future from the next generation of Marleys?
STEPHEN: More music and social consciousness.
VCM: Any final thoughts on cannabis?
STEPHEN: The cannabis plant
is very important and we must educate people on the role that is supposed to play. Not all miracles come from the sky, some miracles come from the Earth, like cannabis.
