CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

Another month has gone by, and our new branch committee is in place having held our first meeting, albeit with mostly the same people around the table. Thanks to everyone who has once again volunteered their time to help keep things running, and to the new committee members and representatives who have taken over from those stepping down.

With the new branch constitution being passed at the AGM in July the branch has duly been reregistered as an Incorporated Society, enabling us to continue on into the future, many thanks to Robyn Cox for her work to sort out the relevant details and documents to make this happen.

It’s been a bit quieter on the events front over the colder months, so it was good to get out on a pleasant evening to enjoy the midwinter run organised by Colin Hey, with an entertaining route and some interesting stops along the way to find answers to the questions, ending with a pleasant dinner in Rangiora. Well done to the prize winners who were clearly a lot more exacting with their answers than others.

With the weather getting a bit warmer, notwithstanding a few frosty mornings, it’s been good to catch up on things to be done to the vehicles older and newer. After several oil changes and some other bits of maintenance the united nations in the garage are mostly sorted with the French, American, German, Italian and Japanese ready to go for summer, and only the British letting the side down. I guess that’s the joy (?) of owning older machinery, there’s always going to be something waiting for attention.

The grounds are looking a little different with the tree removal largely completed and tidy up underway. Many thanks to Pete Blacklock and Colin Hey for working with the tree felling crews including marking off the areas of more recent plantings that needed protecting, and coordinating the clean up of the affected areas to get start getting everything back to normal, it’s pleasing to hear

there have been a good number of volunteers turning out rakes in hand to help with the clean up.

If you haven’t yet registered your vote for the notice of motion for adoption of the new club constitution, there’s probably just enough time to get your vote counted, before they are counted and the result presented to the national AGM in August. Once again I would encourage anyone who has not yet voted to read the material provided with the notice of motion and exercise their vote rather than leave it to others in the club to make the decision, if you’re worried it might not make it by post in time you can always drop it off in person and take a look around the new national office at the same time.

The National Executive meeting will also be held over the weekend along with the club AGM, and in the absence of any other volunteers I will be once again attending as branch delegate and Katrya Shaw as branch observer, so if there’s anything you would like raised at the meeting please get in touch so we can pass on the thoughts of our members to the meeting.

See you on the road.

Well what a great turnout for the Grounds working team. Wonderful what a good team leader can achieve, thanks must go to all 40 plus that turned out and made huge inroads into a huge job.

We are now well on the way to being ready for Swap Meet. Invitations to go out to the one make car clubs early August.

I'm not out and about as much these cold days but still available for any little bits on info you need. MIGHT SEE YOU AROUND TOWN.

CLUB CAPTAIN’S REPORT

Well, as the winter months progress things are ticking along within the Car Club.

The Calendar of Events Card has been finalised and you can collect one at Noggin night. They will be on the bar and the kitchen servery.

Speaking of the Calendar of Events, I have been speaking to Michael Pidgeon, Chairman of the Banks Peninsular Branch, and he is happy to share their Calendar of Events with us. This will go on our website to allow some cross pollination of event ideas and give more variety to what we are currently offering. They welcome any of our members to their rallies as we wish to extend to them.

I had the opportunity to go to the 9-90’s lunch this month. It was a cold day, but a few of us ventured out to share lunch and a laugh whilst watching a movie from one of the South Island Rallies around McCrea’s. John Forster and his team played some music throughout the gathering.

Neil and I have an executive meeting on the 9th of August in Invercargill. We are looking forward to being able to move forward as a club if there is a successful outcome to the vote and possibly hear some news about the WOFs and COFs from the NZTA.

Our National Day - Daffodil Day is coming up. As you are aware Colin Hey put a lot of work into this and is well supported by not only our club, other clubs and members of the public! If you have the opportunity please help support him?

They couldn’t hold it in when they saw how distressed we were, laughing all the way home no doubt! Pay back can come in many forms…… so watch this space.

The entry form for the Vintage Rally for the 28th September is in this hub. We have a new convenor, Jeremy Wise. Henry and I have been working with him and it looks like he is organising a great day out.

Women’s and Young Drivers day, this year is being run by Rebecca George and Meg Pidgeon as they were the proud winners from last year. Rebecca has experience in running rallies and Meg will be able to add her flare as well.

I have not fallen off the perch, but will be away for next month's hub report so you will hear from Henry Little instead.

Have a fabulous month of motoring Katryna

From The Editors Desk

Glad to see the weather didn’t hamper the turnout as serious effort was put into making the Around Town Rally in Collaboration with Auto Restoration and Ferrymead Heritage Park a rally to be talked about! (All went well I hope)

The number of cars and people who supported the day and showed off their prized possessions to the public was phenomenal. A total of 70 cars were pres ternational driven by myself and the club fire truck. Thanks to Henry for doing the honours of driving the fire truck and to Mark Drury for getting them ready with COF/WOF on time.

Thanks must also go to George Kear and the team at Auto Restoration for opening their wonderful workshop and allowing us to peruse, it made a great rally starting point. Jonte did a great job getting people parked and Mum and Dad supporting me as usual sorting morning tea, getting VCC signs out, setting up at Ferrymead and marshalling the gate.

Check out Facebook and Instagram for some great pics if you missed the day. May there be more socialising and motoring to come as the warmer spring weather arrives!

A video can be found on our Youtube channel.

VETERAN REPORT

This month’s Random Run was roughly worked out at our monthly coffee morning at Thirsty Acres at Kirwee, with an arrangement to meet at Hororata Domain again on Thursday 10th July (2 days later) when the weather forecast was looking very promising. The plan was to do a run through the Malvern Hills area, taking the direct route from Hororata to Coalgate, then to Sheffield through using Malvern Hills Road, Waininwanina Road, and then Pig Saddle Road to Russells Flat, in the full knowledge that the road from Coalgate to Russells Flat (approximately 20km) was gravel all the way. Malcolm McGibbon had cheked the road the week before, and reported that generally it was in very good shape, and generally very damp with little or no dust. Good enough for us!

At Hororata four of us turned up – Malcolm, John Wilson (both in their Model T Speedsters), Allan Familton and Lesley Colsell in their 1908 De Dion, and Jenny and I in our 1909 WolseleySiddeley. The day had begun with a light frost, but it was going to be followed by a brilliant blue-sky day, and we were all rugged up warm as well. The drive to Coalgate was slow going two-up in top gear in the De Dion and Wolseley with their smaller engines, the gradual uphill gradient (you can’t even notice it in a modern car) and a slight head wind, but once in the Malvern Hills and onto the gravel, the going became much easier with slight uphill and downhill runs meaning a good pace could be maintained. No

problems for the T’s though. Once on Wainiwaniwa Road we encountered some steeper grades, and then on Pig Saddle Road we had to use low gear about 3 times to get over the steeper parts, but once at the top the view down into the valley towards Springfield was stunning and the downhill stretches meant easy going. From Russells Flat we got back onto the seal for a nice run into Sheffield, stopping at the Pie Shop to get some lunch. It’s a busy place there, and while eating our pies at the picnic tables on the road verge next to our cars, lots of people came over to look the cars and talk to us. Most couldn’t believe we could be out on such old cars in the middle of nowhere on a mid-winter day. After lunch we were straight back on the gravel again for another 15km to return back to Coalgate on the Malvern Hills Road. We stopped briefly just short of the Inland Highway 72 intersection, and made a decision there to return to Hororata the long way by taking SH72 to Glenroy and then Downs Road, just like we did the month before. We arrived back at the Domain about 2.30pm, and all up for the day we had covered 75km, with none of the cars giving any problems at all. Best of all, apart from a very slight coating of mud inside the top of the mudguards, the cars were still very clean, despite the 35km of unsealed road. Coming up in August (goodness, where is the year going?) we will have our regular coffee morning at Kirwee on Tuesday 13th , and probably by then we will have an idea of where August’s Random Run might take us. At the moment we’re thinking of going north of the Waimakariri somewhere – perhaps the Cust or upper Sefton areas, but to keep an eye on the Veteran Facebook page to find out. I may also try and get a group email out to let you know what’s planned. Also don’t forget that the Daffodil Rally on Sunday 24th August also presents an opportunity to get your veteran car or bike out –there are short runs from all of the starting points, or if you prefer you can just bring your machine straight to Cutler Park and enjoy your day from there.

Winter Run and High Tea

This run was held on Sunday 20th July, and this year started at Cutler Park at 4pm. This run is a little bit different from others, in that the instructions are emailed to all of the participants two hours before the start time, and everyone is encouraged to download them to a tablet or their cell phone and do without paper instructions. Along the route, there are various landmarks that must be photographed and questions that must be answered, with photos and answers sent by text to the organiser (in this case me) so the results can be collated as the cars make their way to the finish point and dinner venue. The participants must also use their answers to the questions to decipher a code that will tell them the name of the finish venue, which will be somewhere close to the final instruction. Easy – well, yes it was, and everyone bar one made it to the end without resorting to opening an “OMG – I Can’t Do This” envelope with the finish destination inside it.

The route required a drive into the Groynes where a selfie on the swing bridge had to be taken, then out to Spencerville to a lookout over the lagoon to get another photo and answer to a question. From there it was on to Kaiapoi to get some more clues at the Paris for the Weekend Café, and then to continue through Tuahiwi to the old Kaiapohia Pa site just north of Pegasus where some more photos and answers were required. The route took around 90 minutes, which got everyone to the finish destination, the Five Stags restaurant in Rangiora, just before dark. By the time everyone had arrived, the results had already been worked out, meaning we could all then relax and enjoy a great dinner together. The Five Stags staff looked after us very well, and the food was great.

And the results were:

Best Selfie – Fraser Kear (Mercedes Benz)

Best dressed couple (dressed in the era of their car) – Michael and Claire Hedgman (Austin A30)

OMG Hard Luck award – Denis O’Rourke and Stephen James (Jaguar Mk5)

Overall Winner – Robyn and Eric Cox (Morris Minor).

And in keeping with the theme of the event, results and the winning selfie were texted to everyone during dinner. We had a great time, and hats off to Tony Reid and Sandra Frame who did the run in their 1952 Lea Francis Roadster with the hood down, and drove it home again to Christchurch after dinner on a very cold night.

Another great turnout to July’s Old Cars Bikes and Coffee, helped no doubt by a calm and sunny morning, and the chance to get a glimpse of our ‘new look’ Cutler Park grounds now that the tree removal project has actually got underway. The transformation is remarkable, with so much more light streaming into the club grounds, and an unveiling of the expanse of grounds that has always been there but obscured by the long lines of large pine trees. By the date of OCBC all of the trees, debris and slash had been removed by the contractors, with about two-thirds of the area affected now cleaned up completely of all small debris and tree remnants, ready for a bit more levelling work and then re-sowing in grass. Pete Blacklock is in the process of organising a second working bee on 5th July to tackle the rest of the area to get it to the same state. Meanwhile Pete Gatehouse is working out the replanting programme, which will see most of the affected areas replanted in native plants and trees which will greatly enhance the ovce erall look of the area between the clubrooms and McLeans Island Road.

August’s OCBC will go ahead on the normal third Sunday of the month (17th August), despite the Daffodil Rally taking part the following Sunday on 24th August. By then the grounds will look even better, and hopefully we’ll get another nice day and another good turnout. For those that wish, this will be a “bonnets-up” morning –a chance to show off your hard work in the engine bay of your special machine. Hope you can make it there. Colin Hey

KEITH DAVID HARRISON

26 August 1941 – 10 July 2025

A long-time and dedicated member of the club from before 1970 through to recent years — Keith will be fondly remembered not only for his passion for Rugby (the car and the game!) but also for his encyclopedic collections, lists, and rally records. A true character, he also had a soft spot for Dodges, Singers, Morris trucks… and yes, even the occasional Austin.

Please join us for an informal gathering to remember Keith:

Sunday, August 24

2:00pm – 4:00pm (rain or shine)

1672 Cust Road

We’ll be planting natives to create a Memorial Garden in his honour. BYO drinks and picnic

Music from the Cavalcade would be especially wonderful

If you'd like to arrange a separate visit or viewing of Keith’s collections, please contact Maeve Harrison on 022 300 1924 to organise a time.

We hope to see many familiar faces there.

CAN YOU HELP???

Looking for 1918 Buick Roadster 6. Reg. No. CJ8696

Rob Douglas of Feilding is trying to find the above car that his father obtained in a derelict state from a farm paddock just out of Masterton and rebuilt to a roadworthy condition at Wairarapa Engine Rebuilders Ltd. One photo was taken about 1956 with Rob sitting behind the steering wheel of the car with his father. The other photo was recently sent to Rob by Snow Benge, a member of the Wellington VCC, who lives in Upper Hutt, where the car was sold to his friend, Eric Wood, around 1966/67. The other photo was taken of the car loaded onto a truck by Eric Wood to be transported to a new owner in the Christchurch region, probably about 7 to 8 years ago. Anyone with any information can email or phone Rob at:

This month all of our branch members with an email address will have received an email from Bronwyn Mckinlay asking for an hour and a half of your time over swap meet weekend to assist with either some time on the gates, or looking after the car display areas. These are not onerous tasks if we get enough people, but if we don’t, it means other volunteers have to spend significantly longer chunks of time doing these tasks, or getting in outside people to do them for us at considerable expense. So please, in consideration of helping the event run smoothly and of other members, please reply to the email with a day and time you can offer help. Thanking you in anticipation. Please note that we will also have the rosters available at noggins from now until October so you can add your name then if you’d rather do it that way.

At the time of writing, bookings for swap meet sites and camping are busy, so if you need either, please get in promptly to avoid disappointment, Swap Meet selling sites can be booked through Neil Shaskey (swapmeetsites@gmail.com or phone 027 289 6201) and camping sites are being handled by Mike Green (swapmeet2camp@gmail.com, or phone 027 419 5331).

We now have the small (A1 size) fence Swap Meet signs updated, so if you can put one up on your front fence or in a prominent location that won’t cause any issues, you can collect one (or more if you want) from Noggin or from the parts shed.

And finally, just an assurance that any sites that were affected by the tree removal work will definitely be available again for Swap Meet, some possibly with more useable room.

Thanks everyone,

Colin Hey, Chairman Swap Meet Committee.

Commercial Report

Greetings all,

Nice to see the sun and have some warmer days in winter – even makes those frosty mornings that much more bearable.

July has been a nice cruisy month. I’ve managed to get a few jobs done on the Austin A30 which have been begging to be done for years. Still more to do but I’ll do it when I can. The 1986 Subaru I mentioned in my June report is now up and running which is great. Now to tackle the rust and get it back road legal again so my son and I can enjoy it.

Claire and I enjoyed the winter rally and dinner at Five Stags in Rangiora in July. Nice to have a sunny day and fun time out. I even got the heater working which was nice but in a small space and not the same controls as in a modern car it did get a bit warm, so we had the open ¼ light windows to stop it getting too stuffy! There was an option to dress up in the period of our car. If I had a 50’s Chevvy I would have been fine to turn up as the Fonze from “Happy Days” with turned up jeans, white T-shirt and black leather bomber jacket – but driving the Austin required the British dress code which was slightly more conservative. So – Claire was in her “twin set” and pearls. I thought I’d dig out some loose-fitting grey

pants and white shirt and tie. Well blow me down – those grey pants that used to be loose had shrunk in the wardrobe – seems a lot of my clothing has the same issue. Lucky my necktie still fit! Thanks to Colin Hey for organizing a great run and very pleasant social evening.

The July Commercial noggin was a casual annual catchup in Dave Cooper’s workshop. Dave had the woodstove burning in the corner and it was nice and Toasty. Thanks, Dave, for hosting. It is much appreciated.

The August Commercial Noggin is to be in the Barn at Mclean’s Island on Wednesday 20th August. I will get out there early and light the fire.

See you out on the road,

Michael

-90s

Another cold dreary morning saw 36 hardy people turn up for the traditional mid year Pot luck lunch. We were privileged to have the VCC main hall with heat pumps working and the projector system going to keep us warm and entertained thanks to Rod & Brodie.

Phil Breading also arranged a couple of days before the event for some fellow members and their family / friends to bring together a four person band with Sam on Guitar, Dave on Keyboard, John on accordion and Jenny singing songs of our era to entertain us while we ate. Thanks Guys.

Tony Becker gave us a short talk to explain the video of past VCC out of town rally’ s that played throughout.

Tony had arranged for Marilyn McKinley to talk to us about the life of a Light House keeper but unfortunately Marilyn was not feeling well enough on the day, We hope you have had a swift recovery Marilyn. Maybe another day. I’m sure folks would be intrigued to learn how life was in that lifestyle of the time.

So we had a very full program for the day along with the usual friendly chit chat, just a pity there weren't more there to enjoy it.

Special Thanks to Tony and Many Thanks to all who helped out.

The August run will start at the Peg (Belfast pub) at 9.55 with the organising done by Bruce Miles this time.

Stay warm and drive safe. Cheers. Ken.

Vintage Report

The club’s Vintage Annual Rally is getting closer with it being on Sunday 28th September. Yes, there has been a change from previous years. September it is. I hoping as many as possible of the “Vintage’ group will be able to attend. Please get your entry forms in. This can be found in the Hub and online.

This year we will use Cutler Park for the morning events which will include a break for morning tea. After lunch the rally will commence with the destination being a return to Cutler Park for refreshments and prizegiving.

There will be two Routes to choose from:

Route 1. This comprises a section of single road, 14kms long and includes some low hills.

Route. 2. This deviates from Route 1 and remains on sealed road rejoining Route 1.

Hopefully these two routes attempt to satisfy most interests. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the OCBC on Sunday 20th July but hear it was another good turnout despite the frosty morning.

Have you given the Vero International Festival of Historic Motoring serious consideration? These only occur about once every four years and this time it is in the South Island, based out of Nelson 15th to 21st March 2026. It is a great opportunity to meet other branch members and international entrants too. Entries close on 31st August 2025 so do not delay.

I had the opportunity to call into the newly located Vintage Car Club national office on the corner of Medow Steet and Main North Road. Very impressive! It is a significant difference on the previous office on Aberdeen Street.

See you motoring out and about.

Jeremy Wise

MOTORCYCLE REPORT

The shortest day was over a month ago, so the days will be stretching out…

In last month’s notes I inadvertently left off from the list of motorcycle committee members Graham Barnett. He has been a member for a number of years, so how could I forget? Sorry about that, Graham.

Past Events.

28th June – Fish & Chip Run. About 24 turned up on a miserable day, so ideal for an indoor tour at the Airforce Museum, Wigram. We were split into two groups to be shown through the workshops (viewing a Vickers Vildebeest under restoration, probably the last in existence) and a large amount of flying memorabilia in the viewing halls. Thanks to the organisers and to the Airforce Museum staff.

9th July – Noggin Night. This was a garage raid on Auto Restorations Ltd, a place we have visited several times over the years. About 18 – 20 turned up for the tour, and a few did arrive early to Cassels for a meal first. We were split into two groups for a tour that took about 2 hours, extremely interesting to see. After the tour we enjoyed a light supper of hot savouries and a choice of tipple, tea or coffee. Many thanks to George and Joseph for their very capable and knowledgeable commentary, delivered with considerable and very justifiable pride in their company’s operations.

26-27th July – Mid Winter Run. An overnight run to Waimate. About 18 riders and a couple in the backup vehicle left the Island in fine frosty conditions. A stop was made at Kyle Park, Levels, to view the Steam & Truck museum housed there. Sunday, and the tour arrived at Stu Scurry’s place for a BBQ lunch. See elsewhere for a write-up about the weekend.

27th July – Fish & Chip Run. Yes, the Fish & Chip Run was held on SUNDAY 27th. About 8 – 10 bikes and 4 cars made a short trip up Old West Coast Road to Darfield and peeled off to Stu Skurr’s place. After viewing his shed of stuff we enjoyed a

BBQ lunch of HOT steamy vegetable & bacon soup, meat patties and sausages with caramelised onions done on the BBQ, topped off with tea or coffee. An absolutely idyllic day, fine and sunny after a frosty start. But, NO WIND!!! Great to see so many unfamiliar faces out on bikes, hopefully we’ll see more of you over the summer rides and tours. Thanks to Brian Hayman for organising, and to Stu Skurr for his great welcoming hospitality.

Future Events

13th August – Motorcycle Noggin. This will be a Mid Winter Dinner night out, at the Cashmere Club. One departure; we will NOT be getting a set menu that is pre-paid, attendees will just order and pay from the menu. Check out the advert in this Hub for more information. Meeting there at 6.30 pm. A booking for 25 people has tentatively been made, so please respond to the information in the advert to confirm your attendance.

20th August – Old Codger’s Run. Yes, the OCR’s are back for the spring/summer season. Look out for more info via the Event Reminder emails.

30th August – Round the Bay Run. No Fish & Chip Run this day, you go on the Round the Bays instead. Meeting outside PMH for a 10.30 am departure. Quentin Wearing – 021 0759747 – is organising..

10th September – Motorcycle Noggin. We are working on a suitable attraction venue, more info next month.

17th September – Old Codger’s Run. Nothing decided this far out, will have more info next month or the usual “Events Reminder” email.

21st September – Motorcycle Trial– OCBC and Motorcycle Trials. With OCBC day on, hopefully this will hook in more “observers”. We’ll be joined by the Classic Trials Club, who have attended in past years as well. We need MORE VCC members to enter this event!! This event is suitable for ANY type of bike!! Last time we had different courses to suit different bikes!! Have a go! You do not have to be a VCC member to have a go! All prospective members also welcome! Joseph McClintock and Graham Barnett are the organiser. 10.00 start.

27th September – Fish & Chip Run. We are looking at a garage raid on a local collection of “stuff”. More information next month.

That’s it for this month, Cheers, CML

Motorcycle Mid Winter Run to Waimate. 26-27 July 2025.

18 bikes on a marvellous weather weekend for the trip to Waimate. Saturday’s journey also included a visit to"Kyle Park"

Transport and Machinery museum near Levels Raceway . A great selection of trucks and farming machinery from times gone by. Well worth a visit. Accomodation in Waimate at the "Waimate Lodges" was A1.

Backup trailer was kept busy with 3 casualties over the 2 days. Weekend wound up with a fantastic BBQ lunch at Stuart Skurr's where we joined by a number of riders both cars and bikes on the monthly Fish'n'chip run.

Stuart provided a BBQ meal of HOT steamy bacon and vegetable soup, and the usual BBQ fare of fresh bread, caramalised onions, meat patties, and the best sausages from Darfield Butchery!! Tea or coffee washed that lot down with ease!

Many thanks to Brian Hayman for organising the weekend, to Stuart for his culinary skills.

In addition to the riders on the Mid Winter Run about 8 riders and a few cars made the ride out to Stu’s place on the monthly Fish & Chip Run. It was great to see so many new faces on this run, hopefully these new faces will become familiar as they come on more runs, especially as we enter the spring and summer motorcycling season.

Royce Baker, Official Backup.

Grounds Log

“Transpower Corridor”

Transpower removed - 2 Blue Gum trees, 1 pine tree plus a hedge out of the corridor deemed to be a danger to overhead lines. Transpower left the mulch and firewood on the park for the club.

Volunteers have had a good tidy up in this area for the happy campers .

“ Ecan Tree Removal”

Most members will have noticed a big change in the park over the past few weeks, 90 or so trees have been removed plus the slash by the contracters . No damage to existing trees, they have left the park in a tidy condition for our volunteers to tidy up, a big thank you to them.

“ Firewood for the VCC “

Club has been left with quite a lot of firewood, the motorbike boys arrived with chainsaws, ringed it up, moved it to behind the barn to be split in the near future. Volunteers are building a new firewood shed at the moment for this wood to be stored in for the park, ie. Barn fireplace

“ Working Bee 15th July “

40 volunteers turned up on a foggy morning with rakes and shovels in hand to clean up Cutler Park for the Swap Meet coming up.

A fantastic turnout, great job, ¾ of the park done, good stories told, morning tea and lunch were much appreciated, good fellowship across all ages. Super impressed with the effort you all put in.

“Park Hedges Trim”

The hedges in the park to be trimmed on the 16th -19th July. Clean up to be advised.

Thanks to all volunteers for your valued support . A great team effort.

The Parts Shed have recently obtained this 1934 Standard Nine saloon car. The bodywork is in such good condition and nice and straight and we are hoping that one of our branch members might take it on as a restoration project. There is a full set of upholstery which needs very little work to restore it and it has the original patina of age. The engine does not turn over as it has been stored in a dry garage for forty years, The steering box will need attention as this was the reason it was taken off the road. This car can be viewed at leisure in the Parts Shed. The picture of the car on the trailer is a fully restored one that has just changed hands in the UK. Price negotiable.

• First up, Sunday 10th August are the Hadstock Field Tests. This is low key, fun gymkhana style event held locally at Hadstock Farm Springston, kindly hosted by the Chamberlain Family. Entries are taken on the day so you can make your decision at the very last minute based on weather, mood and enthusiasm...... It is open to any club eligible vehicle. Start time is 10am.

• Secondly, a reminder about our Awards Luncheon, 12 midday Sunday 17th August at the Tai Tapu Hotel....Don Gerrard will be presenting the Club Championship Trophies; our Chairman Michael Pidgeon will be presenting other special "season" awards; and we will of course also be presenting the Commemorative Awards to 50 and 70 year Members. So there is going to be a lot to enjoy! The lunch itself is always delicious, a two course semi set menu which we are able to offer for $30 per person.(The Club will be subsidising the menu normally priced at $50pp!) A great opportunity for everyone to catch up before the new season kicks off. We do need to confirm numbers to the venue on Wednesday 13th August so if you could advise Ron Hasell by phone (03 942 1105) or replying to this email, that would be very much appreciated. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.

• Daffodil Day Rally is Sunday 24th August this year. This is a National Rally with different branches all over the country concurrently running fundraising events for the Cancer Society. As a branch we put our support behind Canterbury VCC who run a fantastic day using five different start points that converge at McLeans Cutler Park. More details are to follow so keep the date free for now and we will keep you posted.

That's it for now, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need a little more information. We are here to help. Ph 344 1314 or 027 344 2301
