1. Introduction Mobility has changed a lot since its origins, the human has adopted a type of mobility conditioned to his environment, place and routine. At this point we have been able to capture the movement as a recreational action and a search for experiences different from those we have in our daily lives.

Actually many users purchase vehicles for exclusive and personal use even if they do not put them into use on a daily routine. This is due to the great facility to obtain vehicles for the multinational companyies and it’s satisfaction to make them by they own property.

Once the need to move constantly is understood, we look for ways to bring some change or improvement to some of the existing mobility models. Currently, only in large cities are there many systems that offer mobility for the inhabitants. If we look at the systems implemented in the actuality do not offer any type of experience agena to the mobility and the displacement from one point to another with a determined route without yielding any added value. The interaction that exists on the part of the users in the systems implemented in the cities is minimal gernerando asi a boring and monotonous feeling when it comes to catching the different public transport means raised.

Through many years living in the city I can highlight the monotony and equality that can generate the elements of public transport despite its great functionality but if it could be combined with sensations unique and fun for the users the impact on the state is reflected.

2. Briefing For the development of this subject is proposed to design a vehicle in order to be supported in forming a distinctive and innovative experience for users. For this it is necessary to carry out an exhumative study of different users in order to generate an experience that covers a series of needs and requirements on the part of different users.

For the development of the experience I want to propose an idea that could be implanted in a close future that currently could not be viable due to the organization of the infrastrucruras of the cities and the number of autonomous vehicles that are still transit through the city streets.

I want to highlight the monotony and boring sensation involved in taking public transport, such as the case of the bus or the subway with which there is no interaction on the part of the user not with the outside of the city. It is proposed in this project to generate a public system so that users and tourists visiting the city feel a sensation of euphoria and adrenaline that makes them enjoy the whole journey connecting with other people and the city itself.

3. User / Style research It is important to carry out a search for different users who can be found in different cities to analyze different needs and to generate a design proposal linked to a need and an experience.This will be key to developing a narrative and a speech in the presentation of the final solution.

Users are related to a style that will define the aesthetics of the transport generated, adapting to their preferences.

She likes the plans involved to do something fun. The greatest need is to go outside and experience new emotions shared with people. She Is very depressed to be alone and at home with what she Is always doing outside activities and she loves to move aroun the city in her free time.

Miguel’s greatest passion in his free time is the sea, in which he interacts through scuba diving. It’s an activity that has always been carried out as a kid and more recent has been done making more professional until obtaining titles and homologations to be able to carry out dives in an autonomous way with his partners and friends.

He likes to travel with his friend once a month and discover new beaches where to do scuba diving, but the tempreatures and currents vary a lot so they have to be very careful when innovating location.

He has a clothing shop who shares with a friend. After work, he and his collegue go to the nearest beach and have time to enjoy the sea live scuba diving or snorkelling. On weekends, he profits to spend time with his family, rest and share his fantasy for the sea with them.

For having this great passion for the sea he needs to live in a location close to It in order keep in contact every day and to be able to do what he likes most since he ends up exhausted after work, he needs to go to the sea to dive and disconnect.

For him the way of displacement it’s part of an experience where he can relax and observe the environment with calm and patience. He has always liked to go on the tram since it is an alternative mobility in which he can do simultaneous activities apart from moving. He has a need to be comfortable and calm outside his job because causes a lot of stress.

4. Finall user experience The following section shows the final user selected it is very important to be able to design a vehicle adapting to their needs and interests. It also explains the experience that I want to design to obtain an effective and fun trip which ends up generating an emotion and new feelings in users who ride it.

4.2 Value proposal The experience is planned to be designed for young people, it can be young couples, students or tourist who want to travel through the city in a quickly and fun way.

I want to develop an experience which the purpose is to generate a way to move distinctive and fun to the existing ones acutually, which are very useful and effective but are usually stresfull and not very entertaining. Based on an amusement park like naturland or Erlebnispark in Germany I want to develop an idea of movement that works with the slopes and downhills of cities. Barcelona is a city with many slopes which can be used to generate this movement, There are many cities in the world with this kind of slope and could also be used to generate a clean movement where fuel is not used as in the case of the cable cars and tramways that run for electricity by rail.

4.3 Experience For the user is planned to design a fun and euphoric experience during displacements, so that the transfers they make through the city are entertaining and stimulating for their routines.

The objective is to generate a fun way of moving through the city with a friend and people related to your life.

For this, it has been proposed to take advantage of the descents of the cities with many slopes such as Barcelona or San Francisco.

In this way an inertial movement is wanted to achieve by providing great speed, as in the case with rollercosaters that make the entire journey by this inertia.

Inertial movement through a rail does not consume fuel on the descent, which would also be displacing in a sustainable way.

It could be used to generate mechanical energy on the descent and transform into energy to provide the movement momentum in the ascents.

The idea is to generate the displacement on a rail in this way an autonomous movement is generated making it safer for the user.

In this way, very high speeds can be achieved in a safe way without the user having to be aware of driving, he simply has to enjoy the journey.

It is designed for two young people between 20 and 30 years, since they are the ones who move the most through the city and those who carry out the most

activities during the day. It is proposed to generate a rail system with a small hub on the longests hills of the city making a specific lane for this type of mobility, imitating the system of tramway but instead of moving bt electricity is displaced by inertia.

The idea is to generate cabins for two people with the aesthetics of a motorcycle to make the journey more fun and exciting than the conventional tramways and funiculars.

4.4 Added values The experience requires an added value which is given to the experience In addition to access this sensation of adrenaline also is used as a tourist attraction for people who have never been in the city of Barcelona.

It connects the whole city from above to the in this way takes advantage of the slope of the tibidabo mountain and takes a whole journey until reaching the coast zone. Tourists and young people will be able to access interesting locations in the city with this vehicle while enjoying a fun and exciting journey.

As you can see in the image instead of having to walk to make the whole visit the city It could be done through this fun and exciting experience by which you can observe more locations of the city without having to walk long distances, just enjoy the journey.

Tourist atraction

It would be like a tourist bus but in this case much more fun and intimate forming an exeprienci with much more speed and intimacy since it is designed for two people.

Tourists can take advantage of the experience as an attraction to enjoy and be able to see many of the points of interest of the city with an organized route. This way they can visit the city in a very entertaining and fun way without having to make any trips on foot or transfers in the public transport to reach the different tourist sites of the city that can end up creating a sense of loss.

Local young people who already know the city and live in it could also use this experience to make quick and fun trips from one point to another.

In this way, an experience is offered for young people who make many trips around the city, both for leisure and for the need to travel.

Efficient displacements I would like to add great value to this experience by applying a high voltage dynamo on the vehicle designed. I want the vehicle as it descends to charge energy so that it can be stored and stored for its own battery.

With this type of system you can feed the vehicle battery back and generate an energy to be able to go up the route again.

Having a cilinder shape the central part of the dynamo can roll on the rail obtaining a spin that provides accumulated energy in the dynamo which later is intended to take advantage to apply in more displacements.

4.5 Context This experience can be presented in cities with many descents. This factor will make it possible to generate the movement through the inertia caused by the descent. Around the world there are many scenarios with these types of slopes present in cities. The following is a world map showing different cities through which this system could be implemented.

This experience could be realized and implemented in all these cities but for this work I center in the city of Barcelona to make the tour since it is the city where I have always lived and the one I know most.

4.6 Location (route) The experience is posed to be situated in cites with mountains which have an elevated slope located near the city. In the case for our city Barcelona would be involved the area of Tibidabo which is the mountain that we have closest to the city.

It is proposed to generate a structure that acts in the form of a rail in order to be able to start this type of movement autonomously through the inertia of the slope. As I mentioned earlier the vehicle will go on a rail which will be located in the area of Tibidabo since it is one of the

most elevated areas of the city and will go down to the beach area, these way the users can enjoy the journey through all the city by making profit of all the downhill. It is also a good location for tourists as they have activities organized in a vehicle that allows them to visit places of the city.

4.7 Hub (stops) The style of the hub presented in the different points of the city mentioned in the previous map is shown below.

In this way users can go up and down from the attraction at these different points placed by the city, and so are not obliged to make the whole tour in case they want to move from one point to another.

I decided to give a visible design to the stop so that it is distinguishable and appreciable from a siginifcativa distan-

ce. I have also tried to follow the same line of colors that are used in the public transport of Barcelona and in the system of bicing so that in this way the designed experience is more integrated in the city.

The number located at the bottom of the signal indicates the stop in which it is located. In this example indicates the number three related to the stop located in Paseig de Gracia so that users can locate themselves with the map related to the hub.

The idea is to implement a payment system for all the people who want to enjoy the experience planned. For this purpose these stops have been formalized in which tourists can get to get it at the nearest point of interest depending on their location. Once they have made the payment they can enjoy the whole trip to visit different parts of the city.

It would be a card for people who want to use It in daily displacements in this way they don’t have to pay every time they want to use it.

4.8 Rail guides Below are shown the different types of rails that are proposed to implement on the previously shown journeys. A study is made on the different ways that can be recreated to make the movement of a vehicle through a rail. In other words, we are studying the types of rails available on trains and tramways to see which of these would best affect the experience we have.

The running surface of these rail should be as smooth as possible to reduce friction, but at the same time, have rough-

ness to improve the wheel rail adhesion for the generation of this energy.

The rails to be implemented in the project are shown with a green box. A “grooved rail” is implemented to carry out the descents since it can be passed through the city without protruding from the ground and will not be a problem for the traffic infrastructure. The rack railway rail will be necessary to carry out the climbs. The zipper will be moved by the energy generated by the vehicles with the dynamo on the way down.

Rack railway A rack ralway is the one which relies on mechanical coupling with the track by means of a third toothed rail. These rail is allowed to be used in areas where there is a large slope which is the case in these experience for the uphill section of the tour. It is mainly used in mountain trains for tourists and also on roller coasters to reach the first or main elevations.

This type of rail is the conventional one that is used in the tramway tracks which comes into the ground to allow the movement of the vehicle through the same street. 4.9 Functioning The vehicle is designed to perform descents in high speed and autonomously through all the city. For this reason it is essential that the user does not have to do anything to brake the vehicle. A magnetized rail with a very high magnetic field has been proposed, which is activated or deactivated depending on the color of the corresponding traffic light located on the last part of the traject.

To carry out this system I have been inspired by the concept that Volvo made for drilling cars into the correct lane, in this way, by means of a series of magnets, the

vehicle can be directed and supported centered on the lane. Analyzing this volvo study, I wanted to adapt its proposed system to the idea I have in mind to carry out automatic braking without the user having to activate or interact with the vehicle.

The braking system would work using the color of the traffic light located on the end of this traject. This ensures a safe descent with effective braking which does not depend on the human reaction capacity.

5. Sketching phase After having realized different types of drawings and shapes for each user proposed I decided to go with the style of Irene to start developing the formalization of the experience.

Because this is an experience with slopes and speeds I want to give an aerodynamic shape.

Since the experience is designed for two people I want to adopt an ergonomic and stable design to generate this tourist attraction in the safest way possible.

5.1 Ideation shapes In this phase I have focused on making drawings according to the exercises proposed by Pablo in the 2nd submission.

Mainly I have focused on the realization of random forms to lately genrate a more complete formalization, based on the exercise of the second submission from shapes to products. As you can see different shapes of the front part have been raised to start marking a aesthetics and values on the vehicle designed.

These other forms are refered to different parts of the vehicle. As can be seen different seating proposals have been analyzed to combine with the previous fronts for generating a more complete idea of the general vehicle.

Package Below are different sketches shown by the combination of shapes to formalize a complete vehicle and begin to have an idea for the formalization of this experience.

The vehicle is raised to be used by two users as on a motorcycle.

The difference is that in this case the vehicle has to be fastened to a rail for a reason of stability it is given more volume than to a conventional bike. Aerodynamic positioning is requiered by the adrenaline sensation and speed throughout all the route.

5.2 First proposall For the development of the project I have proposed several iterations in the forms that have led me to a definitive design.

The following sketch shows the concept I want to generate by making the movement of the vehicle through a rail.

These forms didn’t like to be the finals because they had “no emotion” and didn’t resist the sensations of speed that I wanted to express in these project.

5.3 Shape redefinement The form has been changed so that it is can see different proposalls which are more aerodynamic in order to solve all the attached to the rail to allow the vehicle to necessities that the experience requires. slide.

A more aerodynamic front part has been added so that the users are covered with the speeds that have been fixed as well as the fairing of a motorcycle. The surfaces have been maintained in order to secure the feet of the users in a safe and comfortable way so that they cannot remove them.

For the design of this part it would be nice that it remains below the front to allow sliding with the minimum possible contact, avoiding unnecessary frictions.

Also for a stethic value where the people wont see the attachament because will be hidden under the vehicle.

5.4 Finall shape The final design chosen for the next modelling phase is presented below.

As you can see it has a front with more aerodynamic shape to make the vehicle look faster and ergonomic, as well as its lights. Its seat is lengthened so that the two people can fit comfortably and safely.

It has handles on the front in the form of handlebars to simulate the driving of the vehicle and handles for the co-pilot located in the back for its adhesion to the vehicle.

It has a front visour to cover the wind avoiding discomfort from part user’s. To support the feet a safety band has been made for this reason it can prevent damage by preventing users from removing the legs of the vehicle.

There is also an information screen which is showing an interactive map of the city so the tourists are always well informed about the parts in th city.

6. Modelling phase Throughout the project, the three phases have been worked out in a way that simulates the experience of the sketch phase and 3D modelling. For the development of a final model presented below, various surface tests and sketch have had to be carried out to obtain the final volumetry of the vehicle. This section of the project shows the final modeling and rendering of the vehicle and also works on the part of CMF (color material finish) and the proposal it’s placed in the context to see the usability of the vehicle con be seen in a more detaied way.

6.1 Modelling Along the trimester I have realized several changes on both at the level of sketch and at the level of 3D modeling for this reason I consider it important to put the models worked so that the change in the formalization of their parts is valued until reaching the definitive idea.

First a 3d was made in relation to the first sketch proposal. After receiving a negative feedback from the teachers decided to make changes in some of the parts to formalize the experience with a better volumetry.

The first proposal had large lower part attachment which comed out a lot from the ground and occupied a lot of space, so I decided to change this part for a smaller and hidden part as shown in the sketch phase. The front and the light did not have much pleasure since they did not express sensation of speed with which I decided to change also this part for a more aerodynamic front and some more detailed lights. The proposals are shown below to compare them in order to generate this finall proposall.

6.2 CMF (color, material, finish) This section shows different colors, materials and finishes applied to the final design of the vehicle. In this way we can see various options of materials and colors related to the final form to finish formalizing the vehicle completely.

Below are the colour palettes applied to the final vehicle that are directly related to a series of colors and existing in companies that are in the city of Barcelona and in other places around the world.

This colour palette has been chosen using Barcelona colours applied to public transport and the Bicing system. Barcelona has as own colors in red and black applied in many parts of the city and in mobility systems with which I have wanted to apply this palette to genre a good integration of the system in the city.

A second color palette has been made in black and white blue imitating those of the old cable car that used to be in Avinguda Tibidabo.

This palette of colors is not integrated in the actuall colors of the mobility designed for the city because it contrasts much with the red and black raised by the colors of Barcelona.

A combination of materials with the black color applied between bright and matte has been realized to generate a aesthetic and qualitative value.

The front when obtaining a glossy finish has more reflections generating a higher quality effect. Being all of the same color the geometries remain hidden generating a vehicle much more aesthetic with more quality finish.

Unlike the previous one the front part has a matte finish since the painting with so many reflections affects a lot the geometry designed.

The white color has been added on the side to highlight the front part linked to the seat, generating the sensation that it is the same piece and giving a cleaner design.

This is the definitive proposal for the range of colors and finish of materials.

After having highlighted several options I have decided to put the front in a matte finish and keep the side in white to generate this contrast. To complement with the colors of the city the red has been added at the lower part where the feet are placed. I want to make the colors similar to those of public transport in the Barcelona metropolitan area (TMB), in this way it is much more integrated in the city and generates harmony with other services.

In this modeling the vehicle can reach a function with a good performance, but I think that as a proposal it can work and will be very well integrated in the city.

6.3 Finall proposall Once the colour range is chosen the final renderings are realized so that they can be puted into context, and this is the fact that will be able to understand the experience designed in a much more realistic way.

As you can see the chosen colors combine with those of the city of Barcelona the final design made wants to refer to the front of a train as it moves along the tracks

and gets an aerodynamic shape and the back of a motorcycle to get the sensation of speed and adrenaline. In the lower part, coverings have been placed on the feet so that users that are riding this system cannot remove them during all the journey.

6.4 Details In the following section a series of details integrated in the vehicle are shown giving to the vehicle and the experience design more added value in a aesthetic way but also on it’s functionality.

5. After completing the route they have been able to visit the most emblematic streets and areas of the city while receiving fun and exciting stimuli caused by the high speed movement.

6.6 Context Once the final renderings are done, I can proceed to generate the contextualization with phtoshop to visualize the experience and providing a real value to it. To get the necessary angles of photography for the integration of the renderings I needed to go to take photos to the different points of the proposed route, this way I can integrate them in the scene i wanted.

The context images have been made in relation to the route initially proposed.

In the photos you can see the different points of interest such as the avinguda Tibidabo, Paseo de Gracia, La Sagrada Familia and the monumental square related to the map presented in the first section.

7. Conclusion In the course for the realization of the project changes and alternatives have been proposed in order to generate the experience proposed with a good formalization in spite of the different opinions and interests that can be found to formalize the vehicle and the idea of the experience.

Having carried out this project, I would like to express that in order to carry out this mode of transport effectively, a number of changes must be made to the infrastructure of cities. This factor is not new and has been given for many years back as for example the great tunnels that have been carried out over the years to obtain an efficient metro system or the widening of the streets so that more vehicles can pass through it.

This project deals with the generation of a new sustainable and exciting means of transport which requires a precise infrastructure in order to be integrated into the cities, the question is that everything good involves generating a change which we must continue to develop in order to achieve the objectives set by covering the new needs posed by today’s society.
