VARSHITHA MEESALA

PROFILE

I am Varshitha Meesala, currently in my fourth year at Gitam School of Architecture in Hyderabad, India. The contents of this portfolio represent a carefully selected compilation of my academic achievements and practical experiences. I have a strong inclination toward geometric designs and strive to optimize every inch of space effectively. Urban design and interior design are areas that particularly captivate my interest. I firmly believe that successful projects are born from a meticulous and iterative design process, and I incorporate principles of geometric science into my work. When it comes to expressing my design ideas, I rely on sketching and modelmaking as my preferred mediums. My key strengths are the ability to learn quickly, teamwork, crafts, and presentation skills.

01 AUDITORIUM

AUDITORIUM

The auditorium site is situated at a significant intersection within the city. The design challenge involved revamping the existing auditorium, which held great importance as a prominent landmark. This auditorium was frequently used for government cultural events. The redesign aimed to create a modern and noteworthy landmark within the city. The auditorium serves a diverse range of age groups and functions as a multipurpose structure. The section of the auditorium has been designed in a manner that effectively utilizes the surrounding topography for the main hall. Additionally, the different levels have been designed to ensure easy accessibility for individuals with disabilities, with the ground floor leading directly to the center of the hall.

Year – 2021 – 2022 semester – 6

Location – Near state assembly, Hyderabad

Site area – 13959sqm

Building Typology – Auditorium

Activities – cultural and music programs , conference halls ,dance and music schools , preview preview theatre , catwalk theatre , open galleries ,workshops and cultural department.

Seats geometry

In an auditorium, the seating capacity is directly correlated to the viewing angles and the extent to which sound travels within the hall. The arrangement of auditorium seats follows a specific geometry to maximize the number of seats while maintaining optimal viewing angles and ensuring clear sound projection. The inclusion of four gangways facilitates easy access to the overall the audience

Activities Zoning

The auditorium is designed to be a versatile space, catering to various groups of people and engaging them in different activities throughout the year. These activities include dance and music schools, drama workshops, art sessions, and setmaking workshops. Additionally, the auditorium features preview theaters and a catwalk theater specifically designed for fashion shows, aiming to become a favorite destination for its users. By offering such diverse programs, the structure remains active and vibrant, even during periods when there are no scheduled events or performances

To ensure that the auditorium building serves as a versatile and multifunctional space, careful zoning has been implemented. The aim is to establish connections between each zone while also maintaining distinct boundaries between different activity areas. Three separate entrances have been created for accessing these zones, without interfering with the main entrance. Additionally, a wide range of other activity zones are incorporated, seamlessly linked by open landscapes and the

The Plazas

The concept was to establish a versatile art gallery while maintaining the calmness of the gallery areas. At every level, there are open areas that serve as spaces for different activities and are linked together by a set of staircases. Each open area connects to the indoor sections, providing a designated spot for visitors to take a break within the gallery. These open areas are designed to include small shops, a cafeteria, and shaded seating areas

URBAN ART CENTER

An art gallery with a variety of events, including temporary gallery spaces, exhibitions, and workshops, held together with cafes, snacks, and flea markets, is situated on one of the busiest streets in the city. The location, which is near the KBR National Park, offers breathtaking vistas.

The structure will be recognized as an iconic addition to the skyline. Zoning has been implemented to ensure that the various spaces are harmoniously interconnected.

Fins façade Zoning

The design of the art gallery's exterior was influenced by one of David Chipperfield's architectural works. The implementation of fins in the façade enables natural light to enter the building while creating a visual connection and barrier. The façade, adorned with fins, presents a captivating appearance, and the minimalistic design reflects a contemporary style, especially considering the gallery's location on a bustling city road The exterior of the museum is designed in direct harmony with the urban and architectural environment it inhabits

The spaces within the museum comprise main galleries, temporary exhibition areas, administrative zones, flea shops, a cafeteria, library, and conference halls To ensure a peaceful environment, the noisy spaces such as flea shops and cafeteria are separated and located within designated areas on the plazas. Conversely, spaces requiring quiet and stability, such as conference rooms, libraries, and exhibits with limited changes, are situated on the lower floors The undisturbed galleries are confined to the top floor. The service core runs towards one corner of the

Development In The Tri-Cities: Warangal Hanamkonda – Kazipet

Through Urban Design Interventions

The architectural character of the Warangal fort is distinct, but unfortunately, it is not adequately presented to visitors. The complex is poorly maintained, and accessing other structures within the fort is challenging. To address these issues, strategies have been implemented to preserve the site, improve accessibility, and provide amenities such as refreshments. These interventions aim to create a safe public space. Importantly, all the interventions have been carefully executed to ensure they do not disrupt the architectural character of the site. Environmentally friendly materials have been used, and the color schemes have been chosen to harmonize with the surrounding context.

PEDESTRIAN FRIENDLY, VEHICULAR, SPACE FOR STREET FOOD VENDORS AND NEAT MAINTENANCE STREET.

• The street surrounding the fort complex is not being adequately maintained. Pedestrians are at risk due to the absence of a designated pedestrian path and moving vehicles. Furthermore, the width of the road is not consistent.

• To address these issues, a newly designed road has been incorporated. This road features a twoway layout, with designated pedestrian paths on either side and a space for vendor carts to the right

• The road is constructed with concrete material.

• The designated pedestrian path is made using granite stones that are locally available. It is elevated at a height of 0.15 meters from the road surface.

• The designated vendor path is made using grass, with benches placed at intervals as rest points. This path is also elevated at a height of 0.15 meters from the road surface.

AMENITIES

• Surveillance is implemented around the fort using CCTV to ensure security and prevent misbehavior. The surveillance cameras utilized are 4MP HD ColorHunter Wide Angle Fixed Bullet Network Cameras, providing a 160-degree viewing angle, capable of observing up to 25 meters and detecting up to 64 meters.

• A refreshment area is available for visitors, with four individual stores located at the center of the plaza.

• 4 local crafts shops are located to support the local vendor’s products

• large trees with canopies, such as neem trees, will be planted around the perimeter of the fort compound towards the south and west to obstruct radiation.

• Larch trees will be planted along the north roadside of the fort complex to provide a dispersed view.

• Birch trees will be planted in "The Plaza" to create a softer, more inviting atmosphere.

INTERACTIVE PROJECTIONS AND DIGITAL INTERACTIVE KIOSK

•To enhance the visitor experience, an interactive projection and digital interactive kiosk should be incorporated near the main entrance of the Warangal Fort Complex.

•Interactive kiosks are user-friendly and the data is already stored in a neat format, eliminating the need for guides and ensuring that visitors receive accurate and complete information.
