When evaluating a product’s quality, people often consider its place or region of origin. This reflects the conditions of production, including working conditions, environmental sustainability, and animal welfare, all of which directly impact the product’s quality. This principle holds true for Hollanders cheese as well.
How pure do you want it? Gouda cheese from Holland, made by Hollanders (residents of the Netherlands) using premium cow, goat or sheep milk. When it comes to quality cheese, it’s always synonymous with Hollanders. They possess the expertise to masterfully produce and age this golden treasure. Centuries of experience have contributed significantly to the exceptional quality of Hollanders cheese. Since the Golden Age, the Netherlands has been internationally renowned as a cheese country. It’s not just the craftsmanship; the Hollanders brand itself has a long history. But how did it all begin? The story starts with cheese trader F. Noordhoek, who lent his name to this exceptional cheese.

In 1912, Fijs Noordhoek embarked on his cheese venture, and within a year, he had secured his first international customer.
The company flourished and became a prominent player in the global export market. To efficiently serve multiple customers in the same region, various brand names were created, and among them was Hollanders.
Although the original company no longer exists, this brand has endured, changed hands, and is now proudly carried by Van der Heiden Kaas in Bodegraven. It stands as a tribute to the co-founder of cheese export and to the exceptional quality cheese crafted by Hollanders.

From Traditional Cheese Maker to Global Wholesaler
For countless generations, the Van der Heiden family crafted cheese in the traditional artisanal manner. Today, Van der Heiden Kaas has evolved from a local cheese trader into a global wholesaler, supplying multiple brands and serving as an exporter. Located in Bodegraven, Netherlands, the company carefully ages thousands of cheeses in its expansive, state-of-the-art, climate-controlled cheese warehouse, with an average cheese inventory of 1,200 to 1,300 tonnes.
