This weekend sees the Club holding our second Club Day of the year, featuring all 6 teams playing back to back games at Kings Park Sports Ground.
Our Men's Premiership and Knights will be taking on Sandy Bay - who are currently sitting second in the table - in what will be a pivotal fixture for the Club leading into the second half of the season.
Our Womens Premiership and Reds will be taking on SCAA Causeway Bay, with the Reds playing in the new Championship A division having finished second in the ranking rounds.
Our Mavericks will be taking on our friendly rivals from University RFC, whilst our Griffins will be playing City RFC.
We will also be taking the opportunity to collect Food items, as part of our annual support for Feeding Hong Kong.
Having played 8 games so far with 2 wins and 6 losses, head coach Mark Fatialofa and his troops will be looking for a big change. With two wins so far against Tigers and Hong Kong Scottish, added with a couple of 1 point or last play losses, the team know they have the ability to bounce back.
The Men's are starting to find their rhythm, and with the return of Max Woodward and addition of Luke Treharne, all eyes will be on the team to make a real impact. The team have found some real gems who have proved immense value, with the likes of Henry Shiell and Thaddeus Summers firming their way into the starting XV. This, bolstered with impact of players such as Luke Van Der Smit and Elden Schoeman, looks in favour for the team as the head into the business end of the season.
Currently sitting 4th at the table, the Womens team have had 3 wins and 5 losses. Head coach Kevin West, still working on finding the right combinations with a number of new faces across the team. The return of Chloe Chan, Cherly So and Jess Eden from 7's duties will help with the teams efforts as they go into this part of the season.
There have been some great stand out players discovered over the past few months with Aislin Wu proving lethal in the backline and Lam Tsz Duc a menace in the forward pack This, coupled with the consistency of younger players such as Jade Scrouther and Naomi Peters as well as the return of Valley stelwart Olivia Coady, makes for an exciting second half of the season.
A shocking 3,400 tonnes of food waste go to the landfills in Hong Kong every day, while more than one million people live in poverty, struggling to afford three nutritious meals a day. Feeding Hong Kong is on a mission to change that by rescuing surplus quality food and redistributing it to charities who feed those in need.
As part of our ongoing efforts to use our sporting platform for good, Societe Generale Valley RFC are proud to have worked with Feeding Hong Kong over the past few years.
During the Lunar New Year Period, Societe Generale will be undertaking their annual food drive for Feeding Hong Kong across our different sporting sections.
Starting with our Club Day on the 14th January, all participating Valley teams and supporters will have the opportunity to donate food.
As part of a collective club effort, we have invited our opponents to be involved with the drive as well and thank University RFC, Sandy Bay and SCAA Causeway Bay for their contribution.
The Valley Mavericks currently sit second of the table in the Mens Championship league, just one point behind arch rivals University Wizards.
The team have been putting in a huge shift this season with 3 out of 4 wins so far this season, including a resounding 50 point win over HKFC Bulls. A number of players have also been given the opportunity to earn their selection into the Knights team. The Valley Reds have had a remarkable season so far, having finished second in the ranking round for the Championship league Not only does this place them in the Championship A division, but also guarantees them a spot in the Championship Division for 2023/2024 season
There have been plenty of Reds players selected for the Premiership side, which proves healthy competition between the two teams!
The Valley Griffins continue to find their feet this season with the addition of a number of new players from our beginners Summer Course
With a number of wins and losses the team will now be playing in the Community League 3 B round alongside City, Kowloon and Gai Wu
