DEUIISE OF VAFA SHOW ON CHANNEL 3 1 It is «,ith regret that I write to inform you that the above show will not be continuing for at least the balance of the 2001 season. [,ack of support from the clubs to be part of the Video ~,te«,bership Club, the loss of a significant sponsor of the frc; ram ($10,000) and the lack of enthusiasm from fn,tential replacement sponsors has seen us left with the problem of whether the VAFA accepts an enormous cost to save the show or we decide that the show not continue . p; r believe the correct decision has been made, as for the %-AFR to spend $20,000 to fund a show that basically

promotes A and B section Amateur football would be irresponsible. sportscaver Australia and Scott Pa rtners have been t`ti,o loyal sponsors of the program and they are thanked for their wonderful support. Unfortunately we have not beeu successful in securing one or two other sponsors n ho could see the benefit of being associated with this program . The VAFA thanks, as well as the above two sponsors, the clubs who have supported the show, Neil Franks from Delphinus Video P roductions who has worked wrv hard on the VAFA's behalf and also the show's

commentators who have contributed with flair and enthusiasm over the years - Brad Beitzei, Nick Bourke, Jason Frenkel, Rob Cross and Barnaby Willis.

We will explore the possibility of a similar show resurning in 2002 . At the time of writing I am hopeful of securing the sertiqces of Delphinus Video Productions to cover this vcar's representative matches and the A and B section grand finals. If successful, copies of these matches will he available for purchase. Please watch the "Amateur Footballer" for news and developments in this area . THANK YOU THERRY PENOLA

Thanks to Paul Matton and the TP crew for a wonderful lunch last Saturday. The work that the club has put in and the plans for the future are extraordinary. An example of a great family VAFA club. Wonderful to spend time with both Presidents (Pat McConville and Paul) watching the game and

exchanging views - all whilst their teams were actively t.''tgaged. The old respect and spirit alive and well!

INTERESTING 1 . " SITUATION - WHAT IS THE CONSEQUENCE? Consider the following situation. Player is sent off under the blood rule close to his coaches' bench ; player leaves the ground at nearest point to receive treatment (correct); interchange player sprints straight onto ground, gathers ball and kicks it (incorrect - player must come on through the marked interchange area) . Consequence - no-one is sure, other than the offending club is to incur a penalty of some sort . The field umpire is at some degree of fault for not stopping the game and then restarting the game once the interchange player has taken up an actual playing position. One solution to be considered by the Executive at Monday's meeting will be that the runner is to alert the field umpire of the problem, and the offending player to be sent off for 5-10 minutes without being replaced . Whatever is decided, the Interchange steward must record in writing everything that happened noting such things as whether the player coming on got any kicks, goals etc. MOTHERS' DAY

Wishing all mums a "super" day tomorrow . Thanks again for the support you give all the players and officials of the clubs of the VAFA . SENIOR REPRESENTATIVE TEAM

This team will be chosen tonight and will appear in tomorrow's Sunday Age (Paul Daffey's column) . Each player selected in the squad and the clubs of the players chosen for the June 10 SA game will be written to this Monday.
