This matrix contains general guidelines that are a starting point, but requirements for specific programmes can change. There is a wide variety of countries for study at the tertiary level and subjects not listed here that can be studied at this level, many of which have no specific IBDP prerequisites. However, some programmes do have IB Diploma prerequisites in order to apply, and because entry requirements can vary and change, this information cannot be taken as definitive and is a guideline only. It is essential that students conduct their own research to ensure their IB subject combination meets their needs.
Students in the Systems Transformation Pathway will graduate with a full IB Diploma (up to 45 points). Our students apply to many global institutions and their university entrance requirements can be met through the student's choice of subjects for the three higher level IB subjects and one standard level IB subject along with the Systems Transformation Pathway components. Students pursuing the Systems Transformation Pathway will receive specific guidance at the point of confirming their IB subjects to make sure their preferred university options will be available to them upon graduation

**Some medical programs require students to study 3 sciences, which is not an option in the IB Diploma program at UWC Atlantic and students will need to consider alternative ways to fulfil the requirements Please note studying medicine in a foreign country is extremely difficult as there is a preference for their own nationals as they expect the students to be able to speak the language and work in the country after graduation Scholarships for medical programs are rare and the fees are very expensive If a student is considering medicine, they are strongly encouraged to study in their home country
Some countries have specific university criteria, and we have included two of the countries below that some of our students will apply to Certain universities and programmes might also have additional requirements For all other countries IB recognition please visit:

English-language requirements:
Generally speaking, it is not required to have English as a subject within the IB However, it is highly recommended.
Many universities will require proof of English proficiency (if taught in English) which can often can be demonstrated by a good grade in English A in the IB Diploma, or a TOEFL or IELTS or Duolingo English Test (DET) test score
It is important to check with each university or programme to find out how the student can meet the language proficiency requirement
