HOW TO APPLY UWC ATLANTIC BY NUMBERS
There are two routes to apply for any UWC school or college.
ROUTE ONE:
The UWC National Committee
You can apply through the UWC Nat ona Committee in your country of residence or citizenship. Appl cations usually open in July ready for entry in the following year, but this varies, depending on each country.
This route may offer the chance to receive a scholarship for your UWC experience, ensur ng socio-economic d versity on all UWC campuses.
More than 65% of students se ected by National Comm ttees accept either a fu l or partia scholarsh p towards their UWC education. If your applicat on is successfu , the National Comm ttees w ll carry out a financia means assessment to determ ne the level of scholarship required.

TWO:
The Global Selection Programme (GSP)
The GSP is an application route designed for cand dates who w sh to forgo financia assistance App ications start in September ready for entry in the following year.

WHAT WE OFFER
UWC Atlantic offers the two-year Internat ona Bacca aureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The IB Diploma s a del berate combinat on of the specialisat on required n some nat ona systems and the breadth provided in others.
UWC Atlantic is the only school in the world n 2023/24 to offer a new pathway with n the IBDP - developed together with the International Baccalaureate Th s new pathway focuses on Systems Transformation and supports our Ambit on Statement.
Both pathways will lead to students rece ving the full IB Diploma, sub ect to meet ng the graduat on requirements.
NDARD IB DIPLOMA

Students completing the full IB D ploma Programme w ll take three core subjects: Theory of Know edge (ToK), Creativity, Act ve and Service (CAS), and Extended Essay (EE)
Students are also required to study s x subjects across different academ c areas:
Group 1: Studies in Language and Literature
Group 2: Language Acquisit on
Group 3: Individuals and Societies
Group 4: Experimental Sciences
Group 5: Mathematics
Group 6: The Arts
Students must choose three subjects at Higher Leve and three sub ects at Standard Level.
They must select one subject from Groups 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. They can then select either one subject from Group 6 or another subject from Groups 1 to 5.

SYSTEMS TRANSFORMATION PATHWAY
Tak ng the place of two Standard Level sub ects in the IBDP, this new Systems Transformation Pathway s specially designed at UWC Atlantic to equ p graduates to take on some of the greatest globa challenges on a cl mate-changed planet: transforming the food system; advancing a just energy transition; reversing biodivers ty oss and restoring ecosystems; and responding to migrat on and displacement at an unprecedented sca e
To ensure adequate breadth in this IBDP pathway, students are a so requ red to take one language subject (Group 1 or 2); and one of either mathematics (Group 5) or a science (Group 4). Students can take up to two courses from any sing e sub ect group, and no more than two subjects across Groups 1 and 2.
Beyond this, there are no restr ctions on their subject choices, and students are encouraged to choose subjects that w ll contr bute to the r abi ity to make a lasting and meaningful d fference in the world.

We believe co-curr cular s as important as the academic element of the IBDP as it allows students to develop their specific interests, work with new groups of people, and bu ld on their potent al to challenge themselves, taking their experiential earn ng to a new level.
Everyone has different needs when t comes to support and gu dance. At UWC Atlantic, students have access to fu ly qualif ed and exper enced health and we lbeing staff to provide the support they need
We are based within a 12th-century cast e with many of the c assrooms still w th n the castle walls. We can also boast impress ve music, art and performing spaces with seven soundproof music pract ce rooms.
Our sports facil ty caters for dance, f tness, basketball, volleyball, tennis and badminton. We a so have indoor and outdoor pools and, be ng seafront-based, students can also try sea and surf rescue, kayaking, swimming and stand-up paddle boarding.
We encourage de iberate d vers ty at the col ege where approx mately 380 students from all corners of the world live and learn together. Each student house sleeps around 48 students, four to a room with kitchens and qu et rooms alongs de common rooms and study spaces.
