Cheri Boots Sutton won the 2012 World Automobile Auctioneers Championship, the first woman to capture the title. Seventy-eight contestants battled for three awards during the March 30 event at Sanford Auto Dealers Exchange in Sanford, Fla. “This was one of the best championships in history,” said Paul Behr, president of the event. “Every contestant did their best and the close scores reflected the high caliber of talent of the contestants.” Boots Sutton, from Louisiana, Mo., earned the title on her 11th try and took home a $5,000 first prize and the champion diamond ring. from Salt Lick, Ky., and runner-up was Tom Stiffey of Orlando, Fla. In the Ringman category, Preston Hardes of Kentucky was crowned champ, receiving a trophy and a check for $2,500.
