THE UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO

Per FSL Guidelines: "If an activity conducted off campus is of a large magnitude (anticipated attendance more than double the chapter size or 200 persons, whichever is larger), and/or alcohol will be present, a Social Event Planning form is required in addition to the EVR. Social events also require the chapter to provide transportation to and from the event."
In addition to the above definition, the following events are classified as membership or social events by default:
Formal event
Semi-formal event
Date party/dash
Exchange
Brotherhood/sisterhood event
Alumni event
The following community standards apply to all social events hosted by a fraternity or sorority chapter:
Centralized Bus pickup (Maher, UC) for social events.
Chapters have the ability to choose between a rotating bus pickup and a centralized bus pickup.
Mandatory bus pickup and drop off on campus for members under the age of 21 who also live on campus. Bus drop off at many locations on the beach instead of just one.
All members must take the same bus back that they came on.
Chapters must have somebody on their risk management team check in people at each bus in a documented way.
Members who appear intoxicated or otherwise under the influence of drugs may not be permitted to board the bus.
Social events cannot be on the same night as bid distribution.
Social event themes/purpose at any time cannot be focused on bid distribution or solely new members.
Chapters must have new member education programs on alcohol use before their first social event, organized on a per chapter basis. Chapters must meet the minimum requirements for Event Monitors. The minimum requirement is a 1:15 ratio of trained Event Monitors to number of anticipated attendees at the social event.

The following community standards apply to all social events hosted by a fraternity or sorority chapter:
11. Social events may only take place on days in which there are no academic classes the following day, e.g. Friday evenings (after last class time) and Saturdays. Chapters may not host social events on Thursdays/Sundays even if there is a long weekend due to a University-observed holiday.
12. First and last weekends for social events will be determined by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and shared with chapter presidents prior to the start of the semester.
