A SONG FOR MADIBA The Multiple South African Music Awards winning songstress, Zahara has collaborated with the renowned and respected struggle veteran and poet, MzwakheMbuli to record a tribute song for the ailing former president and world-celebrated humanitarian, Nelson Mandela. Madiba is in hospital after the recurring lung infection, to give support to the nation and family of the statesman, the talented music sensation and the poet have come together to offer a soul touching song that will sooth away country’s worries and anxiety. The song is entitled “Nelson Mandela’, produced by Robbie Malinga and Mojalefa Thebe, the tune offers a musical composition mix of poetry in motion and soul piercing vocal chords of Zahara. Strumming her guitar, Zahara sings: Nelson Mandela, Tata Madiba, Father of the Nation, Qawe la maqawe, Akekho o fananaye (Hero of heroes, there’s none like him). She remembers Mandela’s reconciliation and nation building efforts calling him “a man

of peace”, “pillar of strength” and “our soldiers’ boots”. “Your name shall live on. Long live Tata Mandela” she belts.

In 2011, Zahara was the last artist to give Nelson Mandela a personal performance at his home in Qunu, Eastern Cape. The famous poet known for his great work performed for Madiba in 1990 at the welcoming rally held at FNB Stadium. In 1994, Mzwakhe introduced the first black President of a democratic South Africa at the Union Building. The song can be downloaded on iTunes and is available as a ringtone across all networks and it will be part of Zahara’s forthcoming album scheduled for release in September 2013.
