BIG FUTURES Start

At the University of Prince Edward Island, you’ll find interesting and unique programs; caring and supporting faculty, instructors, and staff; and amazing opportunities to shape your ambitions.

Welcome to UPEI

Let us walk you through everything you need to know about the UPEI student experience—from the application process, choosing your program of study, your first day of classes, and the many ways to get involved in student life to your graduation on Convocation Day.

BIG FUTURES Start Here

Join over 30,000 “Panthers for Life” alumni who started their UPEI journey just like you—full of excitement, promise, and potential.

BIG FUTURES Start Here

“My experiences and relationships at UPEI gave me everything. I had an entire community of people committed to me succeeding as a student and as a person. If I had a project in mind, there were staff on campus who would hear me out, fine-tune it, and jump on board. If I gave my time to my peers, they paid it back tenfold. I had amazing professors who identified and encouraged my instinct to reject ‘hoop jumping’ and run with more creative ideas for their assignments.

“I could tell 100 other UPEI stories, but the best part is that every single one of these people knew me by name and my story, and all these years later they still do. That’s pretty special and it’s why UPEI is always, always going to feel like home.”

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND IS SPECIAL

Prince Edward Island may be Canada’s smallest province, but for UPEI students, there’s so much to see and do. “The Island” is known around the world for scenic landscapes, sun-swept beaches, and smalltown charm. It’s also one of the safest places to live in Canada.

PEI is only 224 kilometres from tip to tip, so you’re just minutes away from beautiful

beaches and coastlines no matter where you are. We’re right in the middle of Atlantic Canada, with convenient options for flights to and from the Charlottetown Airport.

Our traditional east coast Canadian culture is enhanced by international students and new PEI residents, making Prince Edward Island a truly amazing and special place to start making your mark in the world!

As a community, we have started a journey of growth to realize the role we must play in promoting an understanding of Indigenous history and culture and supporting respectful relationships.

Dr. Dan Fredholm

Clinical Veterinarian with Disney’s Animals, Science, and Environment

DVM Class of 2009

West Islip, New York

“One of the reasons I was drawn to the Atlantic Veterinary College was the faculty-to-student ratio. Having just attended an extremely large school for my undergrad and Master’s training, I was looking for a place where I’d be educated as an individual and not just a number.

AVC was the foundation of my vet career. The relationships that were formed during vet school became pivotal to my long-term career. People who started as mentors and classmates became friends and colleagues who, in many cases, have continued to influence my career today.”

Dan’s BIG FUTURE started here at UPEI!
