Findlay Mag - Fall 2023

From the President Climbing the steps to my office in Old Main, I often wonder, if these walls could talk, what stories would they tell? From the red seats of Ritz Auditorium to the saddles on horses at our farms, and from the weight room at Koehler Recreation Center to the corner table at Henderson Dining Hall, campus exploits and mishaps are shared, whispered, laughed over. In the past several months, I have enjoyed listening to many great memories, along with stories that are still in the making. During Homecoming, radio station DJs happily recalled their time on the air at WLFC 88.3 FM. Oiler football players reminisced about past victories as we celebrated the new Dick Strahm Champions Field. Graduates of many decades recounted their own adventures since their March through the Arch.

FindlayMag is created, published, and mailed biannually by the University of Findlay to alumni, parents, and friends of the University. It is a labor of love for all things Oiler Nation. As this edition of FindlayMag highlights the “Strong Roots and Bright Future” of the University, these stories ground us in the past and turn us confidently toward the future. Students come to UF excited and nervous, optimistic and hesitant, with hopes to forge a great future. They arrive at a campus with a 141-year-old tradition of welcoming and teaching Oilers. In preparing for meaningful lives and productive careers, students must find their own calling. Our calling—past, present, and future—is to help them do that. To our alumni and friends whose generosity has made this work possible, we say thank you. The strong roots and bright future of the University of Findlay are a credit to you. Onward, Oilers!

Katherine Fell, Ph.D. President
