Purpose

The primary purpose of the Regional Airline Association Scholarship is to assist with the education of individuals who are studying for a career in the airline industry by providing financial support.

Scholarship Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the scholarship: Applicants must be officially enrolled in an accredited college or university in a program leading to a career in the airline industry at the time of application and award. Applicants will be considered from other programs/majors, if the applicant’s goal of a career in airline management can be demonstrated through work experience or the personal essay; Applicants must possess a minimum cumulative 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale at the time of the application. A transcript reflecting grades through the previous academic year at high school, college or university must accompany the application. Because of the application deadline, applicants may submit transcripts through fall or winter term 2021/2022; A resume outlining the applicants work experience, extracurricular and/or community activities; A career essay, up to 350 words, describing the applicant’s interests in the airline industry; A faculty recommendation must accompany the application; Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

Scholarship Requirements

The following criteria are used for the ranking of applicants for the RAA Scholarship: Demonstrated scholastic achievement; Demonstrated work experience, including extracurricular or community activities; Strength of faculty recommendation; and Strength of applicant’s career essay (350 words or less).

Description

Each year, Vertical Flight Foundation (VFF) scholarships are awarded to college students demonstrating an interest in pursuing engineering related careers in Vertical Flight Technology. The Foundation scholarship awards are made possible solely by tax deductible donations that have been established and contributed to an endowment.

Scholarship Criteria

A student does not need to be a member of the Vertical Flight Society, but we encourage you to explore the many benefits student membership can provide. High school students are not eligible. At the time of application (February 2022) applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student in a relevant engineering degree program at an accredited university. Technical disciplines relevant to complex aeronautics engineering or aviation systems, even if not considered, vertical lift engineering will receive equal consideration. A student can receive an award once an Undergraduate, once a Master’s student, and once a Graduate student. In order to qualify for consideration of the scholarship, an applicant must demonstrate a detailed interest and appreciation on the importance of affordability and how it might be improved within the Vertical Flight community. Affordability information should be highlighted via an applicant’s narrative and resume.
