Description
Nancy Miller Livingston Stratford flew 50 different aircraft in World War II and went on to accumulate some 8,500 hours in 103 different types. At 23, she was one of the first American women to become a ferry pilot for the British Air Transport Auxiliary. After WWii, Nancy earned her seaplane and helicopter wings, and owned Livingston Helicopters in Alaska. She is the second licensed woman commercial helicopter pilot in the USA and fourth in the world. Her memoir, “Contact! Britain: A woman ferry pilot’s story during WWII in England!” published in 2011. This year she celebrated her 99th birthday and the San Diego 99s honor her with this scholarship.
Scholarship Criteria
Applicant must: Be a female; Reside in San Diego County; Have a current student medical for PPL award; and A passing score on written test OR completed a solo flight. Funds may be used to help fund Private Pilot training. There is a 90-day limit to apply funds towards training.

Description
The Northwest Section Scholarship fund was created in 2013 from funds that the Section held in investment accounts. The scholarship is awarded annually for $1,000 or the amount requested, whichever is less. Examples are flight review, emergency maneuver training, ground school, components of student pilot training, floatplane rating, instrument proficiency check, or tailwheel instruction. Scholarship monies can be applied toward aviation expenses greater than $1,000, such as an additional rating or course of study, if the applicant clearly states there are sufficient funds from other sources to complete her training.

Scholarship Criteria
Any female pilot or female student pilot who has been a continuous member of the NY-NJ Section and who is training in NY or NJ is eligible to apply for the NY-NJ Section Scholarship. Apply by completing the scholarship application form and including all the required documentation; submitting a personal essay; and submitting a letter of recommendation to your Chapter Chair.

The Pratt & Whitney Engine Maintenance Scholarship is designed to support those in the aviation industry. They offer a variety of instructor-led engine maintenance courses on large commercial engines or the smaller Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6 engine series. Applicants must be a student or recent graduate of an aviation maintenance training program. Description
Sponsored by Robinson Helicopter Company (RHC), this scholarship provides a Whirly-Girl currently flying Robinsons the opportunity to attend the R66 Safety Course and build R66 time. RHC provides this 3.5-day course in Torrance, CA, USA; which includes an hour of flight with a safety instructor, and sponsors an additional 4 hours of R66 flight time (5 hours total R66 flight time). The course includes 3.5_days of classroom instruction in the following subject areas: accident review, causes of fatal accidents, awareness training, SFAR 73, Pilot’s Operating Handbook (POH) review, R66 systems, and the Rolls Royce engine. One day is devoted to maintenance, pre-flight inspections, and flying with an experienced RHC safety pilot. A tour of the Robinson Factory is also included. The course is open to any rated helicopter pilot who has at least 3 hours in any type of Robinson helicopter model, one hour of which was flown within 30 days prior to attending the course. A Robinson safety course is required by most insurance companies and serves as a CFI refresher. The applicant must be a helicopter pilot with at least a private certificate/license. She must be a member in good standing at the time of application.
